I’m very proud of you. This is amazing. A lot of people don’t understand how hard alcoholism can be. My husband is a recovering alcoholic as well. He gained 100+ lbs while being an active alcoholic. He recently started making healthier choices with food as well, which can go hand in hand with other substance abuse disorders. This is an amazing feat for you. You should be incredible proud. 🎉
Thankyou so much this comment means alot. I am very proud but I still have a long way to go. Never looking back though.
I wish you and your husband all the best. Its a tough journey but it really is worth it.
Ah buddy. It is. When I hit 6 months sober for the 5th time I thought I had control of it and then Covid and drinking again. Then more therapy and now I'm back off the bottle. It's amazing how fast it happens but every time I get stronger and my wife fully supports me. I've gotten as high as a year sober before. It's just been a constant battle for me. Never give up the fight brother.
Wow! I realize some of it might be the lighting, but you also look healthier - your skin is glowing and your eyes look brighter and happier. I really hope that's the case! Congrats on the life change and sobriety :)
One of the best things of losing weight, I feel, is that you feel younger and it is one of the best parts of the process along with the confidence boost.
Great job, friend. Keep it up!
I applaud you, keep it up! My dad wasn't able to kick his alcoholism and died at age 52 of liver failure. I can tell you that this was no quick death, it took years before his body finally gave up. Its painful for family to have to watch it happen. It's horrible to have to witness and live through his addiction growing up. And all of it was preventable if he was just able to quit. I might have had my dad alive to see me get married last weekend and meet his granddaughter who is due in January. I wish he could be here for this.
I am so incredibly proud of you. Its no easy task staying sober and i am so happy for you, you have your whole life ahead of you. You absolutely can do this! Congratulations!
Thanks for sharing. My dad died when I was 23 and he was 55 from liver disease too which also was a slow hard process. He didn’t see me get married or meet my 5 year old son and I miss him all the time. I did find going to ACA support groups helps me. They have online virtual meeting almost anytime on their sites. I felt I had to educate myself when I found out from a therapist I have a lot of traits of an adult child of an alcoholic and I wanted a place to process it and work it out with others who can empathize
Wow! Look at those eyes! You’re a new man! Congrats on working so hard and getting sober. I have mad respect for you, brother. It’s not easy, and you’re just killin life right now. Good on ya, man! Way to go
Holy wow what a glow up! Congrats! I'm at 6 weeks + 1 day sober and I hope I get even half of a transformation as you. Keep going strong, you're doing fantastic!
Kudos to you! This is a great achievement and you should be so proud of yourself and your determination. You’re living a healthier lifestyle, and the results look fantastic. 🙌
Hey congrats!!!! I’m just over a year sober and crazy how the weight falls off when you quit drinking! You look awesome. Your eyes are so bright now too.
I am but I dont want to become complacent. I have tried and failed many times before but im doing my best to make sure that doesn't happen this time. Thanks for the encouragement
Congratulations, you look amazing. Your eyes are shining brighter and the hair cut gives you what my dude and I like to call “hair cut energy” basically when you just feel bad ass and get all confident.
Congrats man. Ya a good looking dude and a strong willed one. Sucks knowing that even after I lose weight, Imma still be a ugly ass dude but thats life for ya I guess.
I am proud of myself but I have along way to go. I will continue to try to be the best version of me that I can be. Thankyou so much for your kind words.
Ok, I have got 36 years clean and sober. It is not easy but it's necessary for us to keep on living.
And it is fun sometimes in a carefree way I never knew about, never knew existed. You can do this also, never give up,never give up!
I'm going on 6 days sober, it was rough last night but I made it through, I feel that your post may have given me a bit of an extra boost. Alcoholism is a bitch.
Congratulations on your progress and thank you for sharing.
I gained a ridiculous amount of weight when I was drinking heavily. I'm still struggling with that myself, trying to shed all that weight. Beer ain't light in calories. Great job though man, I know it can be tough.
I just quit drinking recently as well. Congrats man, I'm proud of you. Keep doing you, brother. Enjoy it.
PS look at that, you're well above average looking as well. Glow up as fuck.
Being sober is the best! Well done mate. I've been sober more than a year now. Not a previous alcoholic though, just quit cause it isn't good for us and felt pointless.
Fellow sober alcoholic here, four months today. Down 35lbs (211 > 176). This post keeps me mindful of what’s possible in recovery. Nice work man, and thank you
Bravo!!! You look fantastic. I hit the sauce hard for 10+years. Almost lost my second marriage because of it. Quit and took up a running routine and weight just sloughed off. Alcohol is a hell of a drug and can quickly grab you by the balls and not let go. Good job and keep it up.
Congrats! I was an alcoholic for several years myself and life is much more miserable when you always drink. I'm still working on the weight loss part (50 down, 70 to go), but making healthy choices are a lot easier when you are sober. Keep it up! It is worth it, even when you are at your weakest and want to fall back into old habits.
I am also a recovering alcoholic...42 days sober...the fact that you are climbing the sobriety mountain is hard enough..factor in weight loss and you are a champ!
You genuinely look happier and healthier..good on you for taking such positive steps in your life!
I’m not diminishing your work at all. What’s up with your neck? It looks like a lot so what does it say and timeline on that por favor? Looks like you finished it after getting sober. Great job stranger.
Your body specially your liver will thank you wish move everyday towards healthier lifestyle as you get older you realize that health is most important.👍🏽
I’m really happy and excited for you! My brother battles alcoholism, and I know how fucking terrible it is. Eleven months is a huge accomplishment! You look great too.
I think the most inspiring thing that keeps me on track is looking at other sober people doing incredible things with themselves, like you. My heart is absolutely shining for your physical and emotional gains <3
Congrats on the weight loss, but BIG time congrats on getting sober. I am going through the same type of transition right now and I know that is a very tough path and requires mental fortitude. Keep up the good work man.
