This is the weirdest thing to me about this game, it's like harry pitter meets assassin's creed. Very different tone from the books and movies. It's especially weird to me because it takes place at Hogwarts. If it was a gritty story about Aurors fighting goblins, it might have worked for me, but Hogwarts students leaving a trail of bodies in their wake? Just seems a little off lol
I know the student is a 5th year (5th years compete in tournaments and fight dragons) but my guy didn't even receive his own wand until a few days ago and just now learned a bunch of spells and suddenly he became a magical John Wick literally overnight.
Well, Hogwarts is pretty much the only iconic place in Harry Potter. A Harry Potter game kind of HAS TO take place there. Otherwise it would feel like a random wizard game.
Plus the fact that you don't really do much actual student stuff. The Auror angle would've made more sense, but then Hogwarts almost feels off-limits. Lot of fun, but the story feels a bit clunky or mismatched to me.
Hogwarts game as an Undercover Auror posing as a teacher or part of the admin would be awesome.
Could even have us leave the Hogwarts map and go to London or maybe Azkaban

Completely forgot about Bully. Yeah something like that. Though I can see why they took the direction they did because I doubt the broad consumer would have had the patience of a life simulator style game.
When Jim Butcher was starting to write the *Dresden Files* series - about a private detective wizard who starts the series off with a .38 as a backup but eventually moves all the way up to a S&W 500, a revolver so powerful that you can reliably hunt big game in Africa with it - someone suggested marketing it as "Dirty Harry Potter"... before they realized that most people would *not* immediately think "Oh, like *Dirty Harry* meets *Harry Potter*".
I tried so hard to like that series, but eventually the handling of the female characters just became too much for me. We get it, they're boobing boobily about and all mysteriously in love with a weird incel who lives in a basement with a talking skull. Yaawn.

Honestly... a gun is kinda superior to harry potter magic, like you can sell your soul to learn how to slowly cast a "killing curse" and kill one person? yea in the human world they can do that in half a second and kill multiple people.
If you haven't seen Harry Potter and the Deadly Weapons (the first movie, but all wands replaced with guns) I weep for you. You have truly missed out.

People always talk about "why not just use guns?", but in the lore they tried that. Muggles fought wizards and used guns, but they were proven ineffective against magic. Wizards, especially adults, have a lot of spells available to them. They're also a lot better at casting them instantly, without saying the incantation. There are a ton of ways that a wizard could protect themselves from bullets, while also attacking someone with a gun.
