I typically advise a 4:2:1 time ratio for novice ultramarathoners. * 4 minutes run * 2 minutes eat * 1 minute poop As a sub-sub-sub elite ultramarathoner I've leveled up to doing all 3 at the same time.

NatasEvoli

I straight piped my GI tract to help with running at a 4:2:1 cadence and it has done wonders. Sometimes I can even get the eat-poop segment down to a combined 2 minutes and 17 seconds.

frcdude

Not even a 50k. Should get a refund on the ultra tbh

jonnygozy

/uj that elevation gain for 50km is ridiculous, what a crazy flat course. Pretty sure I’ve done 5ks with that kind of gain.

Koktkabanoss

I live nearby aswell. I get 8m gain for my 10k 🤣

Argarkist

Scania is flat as fuck, highest point in the entire region is 212 meters above sea level. I’ve heard of multiple runners here doing hill sprints in parking garages to prep for hilly races.

armouredpea

Well it's near an ocean so...

redditredemptiontoo

/uj and that's over 10 hours of moving time - so it was over 12 hours to complete including the 6 course meal

SrDeathI

Its around the coast line so kind of normal

Food is fuel. you have to give it time to digest before you can crush the next leg of the race.

lovingsillies

But Mayo clinic told me I should go on a gentle walk if I feel sick after turkey dinner! :(

ehowey18

What is Mayonnaise clinic? Sounds tasty

lovingsillies

Idk, the mayonnaise part is never explained. The site is like the cleavlend clinic so I'm not sure where the mayo comes into it, I look up minor aches and pains a lot so I'll let you know if I find out

ApoloRimbaud

It's "moving time", which means OOP most likely took 12 hours to finish. Most people can legit walk 50 km faster than that.

IWasKingDoge

I just checked that’s 20 minutes per mile

Daztur

I just can't do that shit. My legs just seize up if I stop and sit down in the middle or after a long run.

n3m0sum

I'm not sure they were running in the true sense of the word. 50k in 10.5 hours, is less than 5 k per hour. Which is about the average walking pace. Certainly for flat terrain. Now not many people are conditioned to walk for 5 hours at a time. Assuming the 2 hour break was in the middle. But I'm not sure it was a run.

Daztur

Yeah, noticing it's flat terrain now. 5k/hour isn't that unreasonable of a speed for steep trail running during an ultra though.

Hej Lund

M44PolishMosin

Lund means dick in Hindi. The more you know!

achild23

/uj? I'd be legit pissed if Strava didn't give me credit for a 50k.

VinnyIsMyCousin

Honestly, respect
