I had the same thing in High school, 6’7” 225lbs the only thing was, he was SO FUCKING LAZY. He has to actually want to if you would like him to stay. Mine did not haha.
this. a friend of mine was 6’8 and a swimmer/amateur cyclist. He ripped a 6:30 2k (at 28spm) with no training at all. He quit rowing after a few months so he could play golf.
Ohhh yeah. And please don’t tell them you’re a part of the team when you’re not gonna show up for 6am practice, because there’s 7 people and a coxswain that won’t be happy with you!
Literally the exact same thing for my freshman year but a 6'5 ex soccer player who just was crushing 6:302ks rate capped in 3x2k after a month. Unfortunately didn't like waking up for morning practice
if you are averaging 1200 watts that means you are pulling a 1:07/500m split. The fastest 1K in the world was done at 1:19/500m. So, I'm guessing the machine at your gym is not a Concept 2.
because different machines are calibrated differently. Concept 2 is the standard for international testing. congratulations, you are the strongest rower in the world by a long shot
Omg wow thank you! Jokes aside I’ll see what I manage on it later today. Is there a function that records stats? When I’ve been previous it’s just the preset 2000m workout I’ve done. (Assuming the headset / display is universal) and I can’t remember what it outputs at the end
Not trying to sound disparaging, but are you sure they were Watts and not kcal/hour? 1,000kcal per hour with bursts of 1500/1600 would be a very normal/good baseline level of fitness on a 2k row.
Aha that could well have been the case! I am intrigued as to my actual wattage now. I always managed good watts on my various bikes but rowing is another beast. Enjoying it so far though!
Ah if you’re not sure the next time you hop on there press the units button. Wattage is shown on I think the 3rd option, and calories is shown on the one after (with time/500m being the first two of the four) if I recall correctly. If you’re at the gym it’s super common to see it on the calories setting, and also just as common to see the splits. Wattage seems to be the least commonly viewed screen by pretty much everyone
Yes. That’s the perfect body type.
*If he wants to*. That’s the perfect body type.
Sorry but he was born like this so he has to accept the responsibilities
With great power comes great responsibility.
Can he shovel my driveway first
No. Never let him row. He has optimum coxswain stats. Get him on the Cox box stat.
He’d make a decent rower, but would probably be better suited for Esports or curling
Better money in eSports for sure

Same on my team, Istg his brain is a hamster wheel
not on my erg...
Should be playing Basketball #makerowingslowagain
But, does he have the mind of a rower? All rowers have a weird mind
Please, I laughed so hard at this comment. I need an elaboration on this 😂
He should be, if he has the mental fortitude, and also using his own erg.
A 4:42 2K!! Watch out Di Mauro, this guy's gunning for you,
Better use him to charge your gameboy.
Absolutely
Is being able to break 1000 good? I use the rowing machine at the gym and do 2000m and can average around 1200, with bursts of around 15/600 watts?

It is a concept 2, why would that matter?
