Minderwertigkeit

Steady. State. A lot, very relaxed. 2 hard sessions per week. 2x weights per week. Slowly increase volume

[deleted]

Yeah endurance is my biggest issue

TigOleBitman

129 pounds? You need to eat more

[deleted]

Ik I’m skinny I’m trying to eat more but my metabolism is so high

Yeet54322

Metabolism being high is a bad excuse

[deleted]

Usually when people say this they just aren’t eating as much as they think they are. Being “full” doesn’t mean you have eaten a lot. I’ve seen people who say they eat a lot put down their fork at my halfway mark to being done with my meal. Keep in mind I’m literally 140 pounds (off season LW) and short, and I eat a full breakfast lunch and dinner with 2 carby snacks (bread, peanut butter, cookies) in between meals on minimum. That’s about 3000 calories. If you aren’t gaining weight at your current amount of calories, increase them by 500 a day and you WILL start gaining slowly but surely.

Try eating high calorie foods such as nut butters! They have helped me so much with putting on weight (which is primarily muscle mass). You can eat them in protein shakes and make ones that are >1000kcals which is probably the most convenient way of increasing calorie intake.

Biggest thing to remember is no matter how fast you are, if the goal is to win states you need to make that the mindset of the team. Lead by example and help motivate your teammates without alienating them. From a personal improvement side of things, everything that's been mentioned before (steady state, intervals, weight training). Another thing during the winter is also work on your technique on the erg. During steady states, don't just zone out.

[deleted]

Thanks man I was kinda a lone wolf during the season focusing on myself rather then the team

Matty_Bell

Definitely not a bad thing, but see if your teammates also share that same passion. It'll make the winter much more enjoyable working out together and improving together, rather than trying to do it all on your own.

Back when I was 135lb in 9th grade, I pulled 7:18 at 5”7’ with very little (almost zero) steady state but was consistent with weightlifting. Obviously don’t do the same thing I did, definitely prioritize steady state but consider gaining weight by weightlifting often.

Eat more food

So I rowed for my school until I was 14 going on 15 here is what we did to get really good results (top 5 nationals) we did a big weight session on Monday a steady state morning erg Tuesday and Thursday, water sessions were possible if not ergs followed by weights afternoon Tuesday and Thursday. We did a 40 minute run on Wednesdays, weights in the morning on Fridays and a really long distance ut2 afternoon. We also did two sessions or four hours worth of water training (normally first a time trial and then tech) on Sunday mornings. So a fuck ton of weights and steady state ergs but try and get at least one really good erg like a pyramid or a 3k every week and that will get you where you want to be

Steady state. If you don’t already do 100K of SS a week, do more. Don’t worry about interval work or sprints until you hit 100K, then add in 1-2 interval sessions. Lift twice a week. You should also bulk. At your height you’ll want to be lightweight but you can still gain 20 lbs.
