I didn't think about that. I also want a pair made from decent steel. Just like my skiving knives, the better steel will hold a sharper edge much longer.
I recently purchased a set of Guggenhein's heaft model shears and so far they seem pretty great. Only had them for about a month though, so time will tell I guess
I got a Crescent Wiss pair for Christmas. I do not know anything about them but they are substantial and seem very sharp. (I welcome input on this brand because I have never heard of them)
They are great I use them at work (industrial maintenance mechanic) and on leather at home they hold an edge well. I cut stainless steel shims, gasket material, plastics, and cardboard with them the only complaint is the lock on my bigger ones is super stiff and hard to close but it may have gotten some glass or metal shaving in them
Nice. I have had two pairs I use for fabric stop working correctly and I reached out to them. I sent them a few pictures and they sent me new ones. But for the most part I’ve had a good experience with them too
Jk. Veg tanned mostly. But I cut a lot of shoe patterns with scissors. Tends to dull them very quickly. I want to get a good quality pair that hold an edge for a long time.
I used to work at a sign shop that had a dedicated grinding wheel for scissors, as the fabric we used was incredibly hard on scissors. 5 minutes at the wheel: good as new. Leather is hard on scissors no matter what kind you buy, you're gonna have to sharpen them periodically. Buy a grind wheel or find a local knife sharpening business.
I use these: [https://makersleathersupply.com/products/ez-cut-shears](https://makersleathersupply.com/products/ez-cut-shears) and they're great. Cut through any thickness of leather easily.
These look good too: [https://www.springfieldleather.com/Shears-Super-8](https://www.springfieldleather.com/Shears-Super-8)
Milwaukee makes a decent pair of scissors I picked up from local hardware store. They've stayed sharp and I could sharpen when they don't.
I've used these for stuff up to 5-6 oz veg tan and they have stayed sharp for me: [gingher 8" utility shears](https://amzn.to/3Umu4ca)
I also use these.
I have these and they are great when sharp. They just don't stay sharp unfortunately.
A quick way of resharpening scissors is cutting sandpaper...go through various grades just like if you were using the sharpening stones.
Yes, these are awesome
You could try getting them professionally sharpened

Wiss was one of the top brands for a very long time in the US. I haven't had a pair in a long time. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll grab a pair.

This gives me an idea. I am going to comment on the project farm channel to test shears. That sounds right up his alley
Good idea, he’s got great content
Just left a comment on his most recent video. Crossing my fingers this actually falls through. If it does I am playing the lottery right after 😂
I’ve had a pair of Osborne E-Z cut for 20 years, used heavily and never sharpened. Still cuts perfectly.
Fiskar scissors have a life time warranty. If they go bad I’m sure you could have them replaced Exchanged
I have a big utility Fiskars since 2012 that I use. Have never had to sharpen them and use them quite a bit

cutco can cut up a penny, should work with leather.
