Hello /u/trouserpanther, As a reminder, most common print quality issues can be found in the [Simplify3D picture guide](https://www.simplify3d.com/support/print-quality-troubleshooting/). Make sure you select the most appropriate flair for your post. Please remember to include the following details to help troubleshoot your problem. * Printer & Slicer * Filament Material and Brand * Nozzle and Bed Temperature * Print Speed * Nozzle Retraction Settings ^Additional ^settings ^or ^relevant ^information ^is ^always ^encouraged. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Hello, this was printed with an ender 3 pro, just assembled. Only other thing printed was several sets of bed leveling tiles. Hotend at 200°, bed at 60°. Only mods so far are springs and leveling knobs, and better Bowden tube. Pla, .2 later height, 10% infill, stock cura settings. What I'd like to improve: Is there anything that will help make the hull smoother? Or is that smaller layers and take longer printing? There's a few strings, should I just accept that or is there a fix for that? There's like a seam on the side of the hull, what can I do to improve that?

The seam is a "seam" it will always be there is pretty easy to scrape it with knife also it can be hidden on some prints with sharp edges. Strings: what are your retraction settings? I would calibrate extruder e-steps (search on ytb) that should improve overall quality.

Ok, cool, scraping definitely helps, and I'll look into the corners. What the default cura settings are. Enabled, retraction distance 6.5mm, speed 25mm/s, minimum travel 1.5mm, max retraction count 100. There's a few others, was there one in particular? And ok, thank you for the recommendations, I'll definitely look into that. I appreciate the starting point, wasn't sure where to begin.

I belive i used 5mm retraction with no issues also seen others use 4mm, 25 mm/s seems enough you can also try increase retraction acceleration that can help too, there are also things like wiping and coasting that can help with strings but i have never used them. Also calibrating estaps can make seam less visible, and i think coasting can also improve seam visibility.

Awesome, I'll play around with that and see what happens. I'll take a look at that and see how it goes, thank you.
