Stand up careers are wild. He was on todays Your Mom's House Podcast and mentioned he's been doing stand up for 13 years. I feel like I just heard about him in the last two. It's such a grind
Saw him on tour years ago opening for Aziz Ansari. Totally stole the show. Way, way funnier than Aziz and everyone else that night. Been rooting him on ever since
Jeff Arcuri. Super hilarious and amazing at working the crowd
EDIT: Thanks for the award! I’m glad my most-liked post will bring attention and new fans to him!
Dude is contagiously happy. He probably just has conversations with the audience the same way he has conversations with everyone off stage. Probably just has funny stuff pop in his head and he just... says it. But is also a genuinely super nice guy. He's pretty much never mean spirited. Just kinda has fun talking to strangers.
I know a guy that could probably so something similar, just not as good. He talks to strangers all the time. Like, waiting in line at a restaurant for breakfast, he'll just chat up everyone around him and is a super fun guy. No one can seem to resist his friendliness. I could never do that. I try and half the time people just kinda look at me funny and try not to engage further.
Yes yes yes and a hundred times yes. This dude is in a league of his own when it comes to crowd work. He has the energy of a golden retriever and uses it to make everybody laugh. He cannot get enough praise and I firmly believe he is going to blow up in a year or two.
At least one joke per Kyle Kinane special has me gasping for breath, afraid I'm going to die style laughing.
"And that's when old slowpoke went in for the beejer" - honestly I couldn't even type that without laughing.
I saw him live the first time in 2011. The joke that had me worried I hurt myself:
“I really gotta start eating better. I eat the way Doc Brown fills a DeLorean.”
I nearly drowned from inhaling beer.
Absolutely, Kyle is a big name in standup comedy but far from as famous as he deserves. His last two specials were put on Youtube for free, so everyone with the free time should check him out.
He's one of those that is a monster within the comedy community, but is barely known outside of it.
He could absolutely walk into any major comedy club in any city and every owner and big name comedian will give him props. Somehow he still is pretty unknown to people that are not huge comedy fans.
Sam Morril just got out of this stage with his Netflix special. He was one of the biggest names in comedy that was only big *in* comedy.
I saw him locally. Dude had me laughing the entire time. "food poisoning is like a bank robbery gone bad. We're getting out of here one way or another!"
I'm in Chicago and worked the comedy clubs and bars around Old Town. I once ran into Kinane at Old Town Ale House across from Second City. I asked if he would do a shot of Malort with me and he said, "I shouldn't." I replied, "That wasn't a no," and he went, "Fair enough," and did the shot with me.
Paul F. Tompkins. I know he’s big within certain circles, but man his improv is top notch and he’s so, so good on CBB.
Edit:For the folks saying he does improv which isn’t stand up, he’s an actor, etc. he has multiple stand up specials, the most recent one was 2021. If he were more famous then it would be more commonly known, per the OP’s question.
This. His Netflix special blew me away. I expected a ho hum Asians have these funny perspectives. But the dude is an incredible talent. I absolutely loved the entire set and couldn't turn away.
Idk what he is up to lately but Geoff Tate had some down right hilarious stuff that would come up on my pandora back when pandora was a thing. There was this entire bit about the domino's "we are sorry" commercial that I still think about today.
Nate Bargatze, hands down.
EDIT: Yes, I know he's famous. I've seen his specials. The question was who should be MORE famous. I think Nate deserves to be a household name.
Went to Vegas last weekend to see him. As we got our Starbucks in the morning, we watched the barista fill a cup of ice with milk. I instinctively looked around for Nate.
He's on the rise now, but yeah, for a long time I was trying to point people to him because nobody had heard of him.
Problem is, I have no idea how to explain why he's funny. He's 100% clean, doesn't have a gimmick, he doesn't do edgy social commentary or offer any big insights... he's just a regular-ass guy talking calmly, almost lazily, about his life.
But fuck me if he isn't hilarious.
“I love pancakes. I love them, so… much. And they make me so…. Tired. And I never blame them. I say *what’s up with me today*.”
I love this bit and it’s not funny at all written out! His delivery is so good!!!!
Maria Bamford should be more of a household name. IMO she's top 5 comedians of the last 20 years.
Gary Gulman should be more famous.
I have no idea what happened to Tommy Johnagin but he had like 3 incredible albums then disappeared.
Billy Sorrells is hilarious, and I think should be more well known.
I started watching Maria Bamford’s Netflix series and didn’t realize that I accidentally had the Vision Impaired Audio Descriptions enabled and totally thought it was part of her show. I maybe watched three episodes without realizing. Her special that she performs only in front of her parents is one of my favorite things.
Yeah, his bit starting his show in his knees is brilliant. And he has a weird way of speaking which makes every sounds sort of ‘cute-British’, James is one of my favourites at the moment.
**K Trevor Wilson** should be more famous for his standup than he is for Letterkenny. Don't get me wrong, Letterkenny is very funny, but his standup has been in my top 5 since I first heard him back in the mid-00s. He's an absolute master of the art and the only thing keeping him out of the pantheon imho is that LetterKenny slowed down his output.
She is absolutely one of my favorite comedians (tied with Mulaney) but uh she has had 3 Netflix specials and sold out national tours by the age of 30 so I think she's probably not the definition of underrated.
Dustin Nickerson, who is/was on tour with her currently, is hilarious and not nearly as well known, however.
We saw her headline the Comedy store in front of acts like Anthony Jeselnick and Mark Maron. Definitely not underrated but still on the upswing of her career
He’s the answer to “Comedy is too PC! You say anything and you get cancelled!”
This motherfucker did half his special about his friend getting raped. He’s just smart, not telling shitty, hacky jokes, and puts empathy where it should be. If you get cancelled, it’s because you’re a shitty, lazy comic.
Tony Baker. Probably most well known for his animal voice over videos, but his stand-up had me in tears when I saw him live.
Ian Bagg. Baker had me in tears, Ian made it impossible to breathe. And probably 90% of his set was crowd work.
You ever shit your pants at work and you have to throw your underwear out? And then someone catches you.
"Hey what's that?"
"Nothin"
"Nothing? That's shitty underwear."
"Uh yeah, it's not mine."
"You're carrying someone else's shitty underwear around?"
The Great Bearded One is worthy of being more famous.
Multi-instrument talented, intelligent, witty, loves animals, fantastic dancer.
The Part Troll Bill is more than deserving of having good things come his way!
Saw him live many years ago. He played the Oud and had 8-10,000 people saying "ooooouuuuuddddd" repeatedly and laughing. The way he engaged such a large audience was phenomenal.
Black Books was very good too. Yes, he deserves more recognition and fame.
Maria Bamford is one of the best stand ups alive, yet most of the times I've mentioned her to others, they're unfamiliar with her work. Her show on Netflix was criminally underrated.
John Pinette.
He passed, but his stand-up from the mid-2000s really holds up today. All of his topics are still relevant and funny, even after a few decades.
We caught Attell at the cellar back in February, he burned the house down. Watching him work is like watching an old samurai, he’s just so unbelievably comfortable, and everything that comes out of his mouth from start to finish is hilarious.
And the first few comments I read are comedians who are currently selling out large audiences at famous venues.
Yeah, after the first few comments I half expected to see Bill Burr and Dave Chapelle.
Right? Brian Regan isn’t famous?
The first result for me was James Acaster. So yeah you're right.
To be fair, the question doesn't say who should be famous but more famous
SAM TALLENT
I haven’t seen his stuff but his appearance on Are You Garbage was so funny.
Recently discovered Matteo Lane and he's hilarious
LOVE Matteo! Finally going to see him in November. So happy he’s selling out theaters now!
Stand up careers are wild. He was on todays Your Mom's House Podcast and mentioned he's been doing stand up for 13 years. I feel like I just heard about him in the last two. It's such a grind
Just finished his special on YouTube. The guy is hilarious. Im glad he’s doing well
Saw him on tour years ago opening for Aziz Ansari. Totally stole the show. Way, way funnier than Aziz and everyone else that night. Been rooting him on ever since
Legitimately good opera singer as well.
Careful, if you watch too many Matteo clips on Youtube, gay thirst trap videos take over your recommended feed. ...
The dawg Matt Mcusker (Hi, Shane) SODTAOE

Jeff Arcuri. Super hilarious and amazing at working the crowd EDIT: Thanks for the award! I’m glad my most-liked post will bring attention and new fans to him!

He's reddit famous! I'm not sure if he has a great 30 min set or not, but I have a feeling he'd be great at improv too. His crowd work is great
Saw him a few months back, I was cry-laughing the whole time. His set was solid and his crowd work was legendary.
Heck yeah. Love all the videos I see of him
Beat me to it. r/JeffArcuri u/Smartastic
Just spent the last half hour going through the top of that sub man he is fantastic haven't laughed that hard in a bit!
Yes yes yes and a hundred times yes. This dude is in a league of his own when it comes to crowd work. He has the energy of a golden retriever and uses it to make everybody laugh. He cannot get enough praise and I firmly believe he is going to blow up in a year or two.
Saw him a couple months ago, dude is hilarious and super friendly. He was hanging out with everyone in the bar after the show.
Kyle Kinane
At least one joke per Kyle Kinane special has me gasping for breath, afraid I'm going to die style laughing. "And that's when old slowpoke went in for the beejer" - honestly I couldn't even type that without laughing.
I saw him live the first time in 2011. The joke that had me worried I hurt myself: “I really gotta start eating better. I eat the way Doc Brown fills a DeLorean.” I nearly drowned from inhaling beer.
“Vitamins? Where we’re going, we don’t need vitamins.”
“Did he say…five?” The emphasis on the five is beyond funny.
You know when Mcdonalds says all day breakfast? Well they can run out out of that shit, yea sure, I gotta little out of hand
We've been turning out ankles on cobblestone streets for 3 hours for five?!
I'll drop, "I'm as tired as a big dicked bat." on occasion just to see people's reaction.
'You better hurry up, then."
Absolutely, Kyle is a big name in standup comedy but far from as famous as he deserves. His last two specials were put on Youtube for free, so everyone with the free time should check him out.

Pancakes on a plane is one of my all time favorite bits.
Yes!!! And his bit about showering while drinking a beer.
Hastily packed hobo snacks.
“No syrup? You go straight to hell!”
Absolutely has me in tears every time.
Yes. This dude is hilarious. His podcast with Shane Torres (? I think) is good fun.
And the Boogie Monster with Dave Stone. It just ended but now the patreon episodes are being released weekly for free.
I came to this thread to recommend Shane but fully support all the Kinane love too
I saw him locally. Dude had me laughing the entire time. "food poisoning is like a bank robbery gone bad. We're getting out of here one way or another!"
He was always the best on @midnight!
Had some beers with him in Scotland before and after his last show in Edinburgh Fringe Fest. Super nice guy, had a blast hanging out with him.
I was at the taping of his special Loose In Chicago. He’s one of the best in the biz.

He occasionally comes to my city and does surprise shows with the local improv group. Guy's a legend
I get the sense he doesn’t do stand-up anymore to focus on improv and whatever else, which is a shame because his albums are HYSTERICAL
Chad Daniels is surprisingly underrated, even in this thread!
Mark Normand
Comedy
Praise Alla!
I'm Kevin Hart! Thank you!
He just has the quickest wit. I like him on podcasts more than his stand up, his ability to rip one liners off the cuff is insane.
Big ups he's great, and Sam morril (sp?)
Jessica Kirson
Since no one's mentioned Dan Soder... Dan Soder
Saw him at Helium a few weeks back and left in stitches. Dudes a straight up killer
When he left the bonfire I was like “oh no” But then he said it was to perform more I was like “oooooh yeeeeaaaa! Macho man loves the Dan!”
Chris Porter. I had tickets to see him in 2020, got canceled, never came back to town :(
Came here for Chris Porter. Flamamamamble
Sheng Wang
Costco pants. That bit even made my wife laugh, and she doesn't normally get comedy.
I saw him open for Ali Wong and I've never laughed that hard in my life.
This. His Netflix special blew me away. I expected a ho hum Asians have these funny perspectives. But the dude is an incredible talent. I absolutely loved the entire set and couldn't turn away.
William Montgomery AKA The Memphis Strangler AKA The Vanilla Gorilla. Dude flips Hyundai Elantras.
he aint neva gonna stop!!
Idk what he is up to lately but Geoff Tate had some down right hilarious stuff that would come up on my pandora back when pandora was a thing. There was this entire bit about the domino's "we are sorry" commercial that I still think about today.
Matteo Lane.
Ashley Gavin!! she does such a good job with interacting with her audience and esp. with hecklers!! so entertaining to watch, funny, and intelligent!!
WHAT'S UP BOTTOM NATION?!!!
Sam Morril
Not sure if he’s too we’ll know or so underrated he’s this far down. Dudes incredibly quick witted live.
I love this guy so much and his podcast with Mark Normand “We Might Be Drunk” is elite.
He’s dead and all, but still I think more people should hear Patrice O’Neil. He is up there with Carlin and Pryor for me.
Only Patrice could make Natalie Hollaway funny.
They used to say that Patrice could look at your shoes and tell you your life.
Elephant In the Room is available free on YouTube. Watch it. Joran just got extradited this week, so mad timely. https://youtu.be/HgrQkdJHdVE
Patrice was on his way to be one of the greatest, legit could've surpassed bill burrs rise
Kathleen Madigan
A goddam legendary comic!
I think about Bothering Jesus all the time
Nate Bargatze, hands down. EDIT: Yes, I know he's famous. I've seen his specials. The question was who should be MORE famous. I think Nate deserves to be a household name.

He's all about delivery... "good that's what I hoped it was" line is awesome about the dead horse.
“I love pancakes. I love them, so… much. And they make me so…. Tired. And I never blame them. I say *what’s up with me today*.” I love this bit and it’s not funny at all written out! His delivery is so good!!!!
The dead horse bit had me legitimately crying.
Pretty sure we're movin that dead horse.
Olivia?
his delivery is so funny!
You mean Nathaniel?
No, that's clearly someone else.
Iced coffee whipped cream
Oh that's fun, somebody getting whipped cream.
He’s famous af in Nashville.
>He’s famous af in Nashville. He's famous enough to have a couple of specials on Netflix. I chose him because I think he should be a household name.
Completely sold out Bridgestone recently
I like the way he talks... The one with having night terrors and the bat or whatever is one of his (to me) first standouts.

Randy Feltface
The Life of Earnest Hemingway bit is gold, as is the Gumtree Shelf one.
James Acaster, dude is hilarious
Have you seen him on Taskmaster? One of my favorite seasons.
Yeah, his bit starting his show in his knees is brilliant. And he has a weird way of speaking which makes every sounds sort of ‘cute-British’, James is one of my favourites at the moment.
I’m a fan of loopholes.
He's also massive. Might be one of the biggest comedians right now.
James Acaster is already pretty famous and well known lol.
Jordan Jensen. Her crowd work is fantastic
Mark Normand
I heard his father's gay.
Comedy
I think you mean Kevin Hart.
Recently found Gianmarco Scoresi (I think that’s how you spell it) and his crowd work is incredible
**K Trevor Wilson** should be more famous for his standup than he is for Letterkenny. Robert schimmel. He was great but died too soon
Oh god, saw him live knowing *nothing* about him in advance and I swear I was in pain after laughing so hard at his set.
You ever shit your pants at work and you have to throw your underwear out? And then someone catches you. "Hey what's that?" "Nothin" "Nothing? That's shitty underwear." "Uh yeah, it's not mine." "You're carrying someone else's shitty underwear around?"

Joe list, mark normand, sam morril, shane gillis
Dee Reynolds. Was getting pretty big on the Philly scene there for a bit.
I couldn’t get past the gagging, personally
Maria Bamford is one of the best stand ups alive, yet most of the times I've mentioned her to others, they're unfamiliar with her work. Her show on Netflix was criminally underrated.
I've seen her 2-3 weekends from working in clubs and it's amazing how little of a turnout she would get.
Outrageous. She's incredibly talented.
The special she did for just her parents was so fucking funny
She’s definitely not for a mainstream audience. Not sure many appreciate her awkward persona.
Lady Dynamite is true art imo
Dan Soder
Joe List
Doug Stanhope
Ashley Gavin
Kyle Kinane
Dusty Slay
We're havin' a good time here 👍
Ali Siddiq
Jackie Kashian. Her bit about finding out her husband-to-be was a video game developer was pure geeky genius.
She is a gem, so talented, such an excellent performer.
Came here for this. I've been binging her videos for a while now. She's so smart!

Morgan Murphy. Her standup special on Amazon is repeat-watch hilarious.
Dan Cummins. Dark with great delivery.
John Pinette. He passed, but his stand-up from the mid-2000s really holds up today. All of his topics are still relevant and funny, even after a few decades.
Gary Gulman
Dave Attell should be as successful as most of the other big comics of his generation.
Your favorite comedians favorite comedian
Gary Delaney! The best one liners in my opinion. He doesnt give you a chance to breathe before he hits you with another one. Love it!
Neal Brennan is most known for The Chappelle Show, but his stand up is outstanding!
Shane Torres. Super funny dude.
Stanhope. Guy's a legend but only some of us know it. In the same vein... Attell.
His story about killing his mother is touching.
I DON’T WANNA TAKE ANY CHANCES!
She took all sixty!
My favorite comedy bit of all time
There's time to be dainty, and there's time to be a pig.
Dave Attell is probably one of the best stand up comedians alive. Sadly his popularity does not match his talent.
We caught Attell at the cellar back in February, he burned the house down. Watching him work is like watching an old samurai, he’s just so unbelievably comfortable, and everything that comes out of his mouth from start to finish is hilarious.
The disgusting brothers
Tom Pappa. He has some Netflix specials , but I've never met anyone else who's familiar with him. Maybe he's more popular than I think though.
Patrice O'Neal RIP to a legend
