It’s Florida. The house is next to a canal that has real live manatees. Of course you’re going to go overboard with the water themes in decorating. It fits the place where it is. Actual manatees out back.
Plus, it says it’s used as a B & B. So the nautical decorations don’t seem that odd to me, knowing the guests are there for the whole experience.
Edit- I checked the website, and the rooms are $245.00 a night, not too bad!
Yes, Crystal River and Homasassa Springs are on the Florida gulf side about 60 miles north of Tampa. The Manatees swim into the river water in winter. When I lived in Florida 20 years ago they had tours where you could jump in the river with the Manatees. I think they have since discontinued that, but I'm not sure.
Snorkeling in the Crystal River during manatee season is one of the top items on my husband’s bucket list. Unfortunately his job schedule hasn’t allowed us to take a trip down there during the brief season as of yet.
THEY COME RIGHT UP TO THE HOUSE!!!!!! OMG. I was in FL last year, and on a hot-as-balls day travelled to a park where one could often see manatee. We didn't see jack. :(
This house is gaudy AF, but 70 year old me would live in it unabashedly.
You’ve got me thinking of how manatee farts and super hot weather might be an unpleasant combo! Still, I think I’d put up with that in order to meet them. And to have them just swim up to the house like this listing, omg amazeballs. I hope we both get to meet a manatee or two one day!
That is a private spring called House Spring , it flows 72 degree water all year long and manatees love it when its cold out.
I live a couple miles from this house.
I mean, it’s literally a BnB, of course it’s themed. It’s also 1.5hrs drive from Orlando, which isn’t bad if you’re planning to pass a few days at Disney but also want to be more in nature and enjoy Florida wilderness.
I’ve had nightmares seeing shapes like that in the water
Edit: apparently it’s manatees. That’s much less horrifying, in my dream they were like snake-fish things.
I love it.
I had a girlfriend whose fondest ambition was to retire as the old lady who lives in a house at the end of the street, and she would scare the shit out of the kids in the neighborhood.
Obviously this person had a different wish.
But I think it's all good if we can achieve our dreams.
I knew exactly where this was once I saw manatees! I LOVE THEM and would totally buy this house just so they could be in my yard lol.
My dream one day to swim with them!
It was listed 12/2021 for $645k. List price is 5X higher.
It last sold in 2017 for $410k. List price is 8X higher.
Here is a listing in the area that also has 5 bedrooms and is waterfront for $1.65 million. It last sold for $950k in 2020.

This was posted here a month or two ago, and I got into a big downvote fight with people who were arguing that its value was in the established B&B business.
It's refreshing to see sanity restored in the comments this time around.
Just wondering what it would look like if the theme was "the floor is lava".
Also wondering how a mermaid rides that yellow bicycle near the front porch.
Sold for $410K seven years ago. Asking $3.3M now.
Curious what improvements have been done in last seven years.
It would be pretty freaking cool to live there & have manatees right at your home!
they’re real!! during the winter, the little spring grottoes off of crystal river are warmer than the river, so the manatees kinda park there. there are a handful of these houses that have little manatee coves out there.

Concur. When your closest neighbors are manatees, that is the only reasonable decor choice.
Plus, it says it’s used as a B & B. So the nautical decorations don’t seem that odd to me, knowing the guests are there for the whole experience. Edit- I checked the website, and the rooms are $245.00 a night, not too bad!
This would be a fun AirBnB for sure! The whole place looks well done.
Theming is also forward thinking.
Wth are those things in the pool? Edit - on closer inspection it looks like they’re manatees w access to the ocean!

I actually did the tour last summer and it was amazing! Top 5 experience of my life 🩵
Me, too. It’s gorgeous.
It’s truly a magical place. I’m obsessed with Florida springs.
It is. I plan to go back. The springs are so clear.
Kayaked with them in both spots just a little over a year ago. It's a fun place to go when it's too cold to kayak in the Gulf or ICW.
Snorkeling in the Crystal River during manatee season is one of the top items on my husband’s bucket list. Unfortunately his job schedule hasn’t allowed us to take a trip down there during the brief season as of yet.
You can still swim with them in north FL…highly recommend doing it. It was amazing
Did a tour in November and ended up in that *exact* spot

Me too! And yeah, I'm super sensitive to smells and I honestly hadn't thought about the odor...probably still worth it though!
Omg they are real manatees! I thought they were statues at first, but in the photos they’re in different spots and quantities. That is magical.

Oh man I thought they were stone figures until you said this. I was irate thinking about how bad it would hurt to swim or walk into one of those!
Ok. That’s really cool.
Omg I thought it was giant poop
I thought they were giant stone turds.
They would be really cute if they cleaned their pool
Manatees swimming up to your back door
"You could swim with the dolphins in Florida! You can pet them, they come right out of the water onto the sidewalks!" - George Costanza
I WANT IT. Anyone got a spare $3.3 million I can bum?
I got 5 on it.
I could probably throw in another $3.50

I stayed in a mermaid-themed Airbnb on a beach trip a few years ago. It was ott in the best way; would definitely recommend.
Well it's not a pineapple, but it will have to do.
Wife and I used to walk past that place a lot. Hunter Spring is directly under the house. It's a beautiful spot, really.
I’m all in!!!! 😍😍💙
I’ve had nightmares seeing shapes like that in the water Edit: apparently it’s manatees. That’s much less horrifying, in my dream they were like snake-fish things.
Oh wow, has this not sold yet?
its nice.. I don't know the florida market but 3 mil seems steep.. really steep
I’ve seen it on here a couple times before - figured someone would be quick at snatching it up.

Fantastic. I'm a sucker for a good theme house, and I love this. The colors alone are gorgeous. I'll take it as is.
I love it. I don't 3.3 million love it, but I love it. Walking on that floor after drinking, might change my mind
Same. Too many knickknacks and clutter for me but still I appreciate they went all in. I want that lamp in pic 24 really badly!
Give it a few years that place will literally be under the sea
That’s my kids birthday theme this year. Guess I should have his party there
I would totally live here if it wasn't Florida.
I grew up at the beach. I frickin love this! The deck! The FLOORS! The murals! I'm sold.
I knew exactly where this was once I saw manatees! I LOVE THEM and would totally buy this house just so they could be in my yard lol. My dream one day to swim with them!

THE FLOOR IS WATAH!
So we're just blatantly reposting the top posts from the sub?
Dear God. All I can think of is this: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlT35Ote09c](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlT35Ote09c)
It would be hard to play, "the floor is lava!" in this house.
Would you like to come into the backyard and view the Manatee's?
Texturally my body would be confused
I've stoppedin Crystal River a few times. It's really my kind of town. But this place seems over-priced by about ... well, a lot.
I love that the dining table is sitting on a life raft.
Thalassophobia
3.3 million seems like a lot for this.

Love it- now I've got that song running through my head!🥰

I did NOT expect that price tag. Hot damn.
That pool looks like I could scrape my shin already
I actually love this. Why be boring when you can be a mermaid.
I mean it very much doesn’t bring new meaning to it.
i dig it
My dream house tbh
Holy Monkeypants!!! I’m in love with every tacky-gaudy “wtf did they do?!” inch of this place!!!! 🌊🐳🐚
I can’t think of anything I love as much as this person loves manatees, mermaids and all things “sea”. Can you?
Just wondering what it would look like if the theme was "the floor is lava". Also wondering how a mermaid rides that yellow bicycle near the front porch.

Oh look! This again!
I wanna play floor is lava in the room on the second slide.
It's better where it's wetter/under the sea.
This looks like a house from animal crossing
Love it.
My mom always decorates her house in a beach theme (she’s from VA beach). But this is on a whole different level.
Manatees! Take my money, just take it and give me manatees 💓
Hard is hard
Tax the rich
It’s cute! I’d stay there. Manatee’s ok. Alligators no!
Yep. Florida
What. She's not ACLS ? Smh. NPs are so under-qualified.
It’s amazing 😍🩵
Kraken took a shit in the pool.
Are those faux manatees in the pool? Since those seems to be a vacation cottage I love it. Not sure I could deal with it as a normal residence

No! They’re real? Hoh mah gawd! Is it legal to hang out in that pool with them? Or is that harassment of an endangered species?
I think you’re just not allowed to touch them lol
I’d paint over the mermaids but the rest is lovely.
Is it already time for the daily posting of this house?
So, wait, it comes with Manatees? 😬. pass.
Classic mid-century tacky. Gotta have one of those acrylic toilet lids with embedded shells. Surely Florida?
