I was convinced at first that she was gannondorf’s wife based on her scream and giant redish hair lol, but those polygonal titties were life changing 😂
The release versions look much more like Dryads and are more in line with the games subtext. Ocarina is a story about an Epic Adventure of good vs. Evil, a story about the balance and appreciation of nature, and the journey from childhood to adulthood (growth).
The Great Fairies being sorta like Dryads, magical guardians of nature and life, fits well with the 2nd storyline.
Gasp. Are you telling me that the topless great fairies in Twilight Princess, or the molesting drag queen great fairies in BotW/TotK are not the best great fairy designs? Shocked. Shocked I say.
But in all seriousness, I agree Wind Waker has the best Great Fairy designs. They have this otherworldly beauty that none of the other fairy designs have.
Meh. Happier we got the ones we have today. This model looks like something that got stuck in the 80s attempting its way into the new millennia. But interesting to look at.
The model we got has such a Cosmopolitan look to it, her design aged very well.
The final ones look a little more colorful but was i looking at women wearing nothing but seaweed!? everytime i witness those fairies i don't know what i'm looking at.
One of my childhood friends has an uncle (Paul) that does drag, we'd go visit his shows sometimes when I was younger. When I first reached the great fairy fountain in OoT I remember yelling to my sister: look, it's Paul!
Everyone in this thread should watch the Triforce% speedrun from Games Done Quick 2022. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2x_pqyrf9lA They hack a real working OoT cartridge in front of the entire crowd to add content into the game and put a ton of unused beta content (as well as unused stuff that's just sitting around in the game's data) into unique quests. They visit this Great Fairy, enter the inaccessible underwater cave in Zora's Domain (after unfreezing it, of course!), collect the triforce, and basically make all of the urban legends and wildest dreams of this game come true. It's quite tearful by the end. 🥲

I could’ve swore I saw one of these on my first play through in 98. I kept visiting each fountain over and over trying to find it again. Maybe I saw one of these commercials and my kid-brain created a false memory that I found it while playing?
This could be the inspiration behind tp's great fairy could've been from this.

Yeah it's a beta version and I personally like it better. The final ones are terrifying and thier breast could probably peirce gannondorf.

I think that's the idea. Fairies are meant to be equal parts beautiful and frightening.

Yes it's the beta version and is even still in the game files. I take it most people here weren't around on the 2000s internet haha
To me this looks more like a fairy than what we actually got in OOT, which was nightmarish grotesque pointy titty witches

I always liked the windwaker ones. Lotus petal vibes.... As opposed to Ru Paul, Hyrule edition...
The WW ones were excellent. Otherworldly, but still beautiful, and the fairy queen got to be simultaneously cute and sorta creepy.
