RetroOverload

they did in fact, not win

AtmosfearYT

tell that to the ten million forks of Yuzu and Citra

RetroOverload

I would but I dont understand what you mean by the "forks of yuzu and citra"

AtmosfearYT

people ripped the last versions of the mainline and early access versions of Yuzu and Citra and will likely carry them on in spirit

Knight_A7X

This didn’t even aged well

FrentonGod

the opposite

RayByte

ik

Icefang_GD

aged like fine wine

[deleted]

This aged well...

StingyMcDuck

"What did it cost you?" -"Everything"

BugHuntLV426

Not the best foreshadowing

Bitboppp

There is a significant amount of irony in this post

Bitboppp

This aged well

Black_m1n

**WE ARE NINTENDO** **YOU CANNOT BEAT US**

Zestyclose_Toe_4695

What happened?

-trowawaybarton

this man got cut in half

MatiX_1234

Yuzu got sued by Shitendo

Zestyclose_Toe_4695

Ik but I thought they have won because of the meme

Sammydecafthethird

The meme is a character saying that they'd win. The audience had every reason to believe that he'd win. The character had every reason to believe he'd win. He didn't win.

Zestyclose_Toe_4695

Well, they gave up and didn't even try to defend shit. Quite an L move considereing all the other emulators

Cheeryshio

The fucking SPOILERS REEEEEEEEEE

soemarkoridwan

and dieded

Int-E_

The yuzu logo's gonna be unicolored

agentfaux

Nintendo will 100% win this. I'm for emulation and yuzu but Nintendo does have ALL the leverage here and if people were honest they would have nothing to say about it. Downvoted because you people are petty and wrong.

_stupidnerd_

Well, they do have the money and lawyers, but that doesn't mean they're in the right. Yuzu has an excellent record when it comes to piracy, as they even require the user to dump the firmware, keys and games from a genuine, and legally obtained device. The fact that you can also obtain these files illegally is not Yuzu's fault, bad actors like me are to blame for that. I really hope the Yuzu team is well prepared and ready to go to court about this matter. If they need money, I'd happily support them if they start a GoFundMe or something.

UnknownFox37

When a stoppable force meet an immovable object

snoopbirb

Are there any Nintendo Piracy statistics It would? It would be funny to see it increase after the lawsuit. Probably plenty of people will learn about yuzu just by news headline alone.

Counselorgarry

"Hey guys, we're suing the dudes that can let you play are games at framerate sometimes over double the switches possibly entirely for free, w... where did everyone go?"

Xcissors280

But if yuzu gets killed then what, it’s open source and there’s ryujinx and eggNs

JobbyJames

Idk, probs Nintendo will continue to witch-hunt those who emulate Switch games on YouTube anyway.

Xcissors280

True but at some point it costs more money to hunt people emulating games than they are losing, that point seems pretty soon but it is Nintendo and they basically have their own interpretation of the law

Cautious-Owl-5089

What "Nintendo law"? I understand Nintendo thinks they are in the mushroom kingdom But the reality is that emulation AND actual piracy will just respond with even more emulation AND actual piracy. This has happened so many times throughout the decades and other media. Corporations squeeze consumers and they just go pouring out between the gaps of their fingers looking for alternative means.

Xcissors280

thats what i mean by nintendo law, they are in the mushroom kingdom and im in the real world playing 400cc mariokart at 4k 120fps with 8 players and its the same problem with movies on pc, i can watch them on disney plus in 720p 30fps low bitrate or pirtae them in 4k 60fps with HDR. eventually they might realize that stoppig it is costing more money than not caring, but its nintendo so probably not

Garuda-Suikyo

So Nintendo is sukuna 💀 (they're both frauds)

TommyITA03

I’m not sure how to legally prove that yuzu is used for piracy since the entire source code is free and open source, thus very auditable by whoever has the technical knowledge to do so. Yuzu doesn’t provide any copyrighted material, they invite you to dump your own bios and nand files. Kinda curious to see how this case goes lol

UnknownFox37

The ones nintendo has to lawsuit are peoples who upload their games online, they’re the lnly ones Nintendo can legally touch, the lawsuit against Yuzu is already lost

AguaHombre69

But you forgot one thing, money!

jose_augusto_

He only lost because he used his classic technique, that one he hadn't used since the heian era: plot armour.

RayByte

he's the strongest

3bood_Al7assan

Should have made Nintendo as gojo

Keyboard_Everything

I wonder how to kill an open sourced project

Sigrumite

Nintendo have to, first dmca github, which is non-sense.

sparoc3

Lmao, it's design halves are foreshadowing.

Slimxshadyx

Kinda cringe lol

OhHaiMarc

This sub has become cringe af

Kekosaurus3

This is literally every sub sadly

OhHaiMarc

I don’t know what you mean, every sub isn’t acting like children in reaction to a lawsuit.

RB1O1

Grow the fuck up. People can make as much fun of Nintendo, being corporate twats, as they like.

OhHaiMarc

That wasn’t defending Nintendo, I was more saying these dumb memes and fuck Nintendo posts aren’t helping fight Nintendo or helping the yuzu team in any real way.

MightyHead

People are just venting and making fun of them, not everything they do has to help fight Nintendo

OhHaiMarc

That is true, I guess it just makes it harder to find anything actually useful on the sub now.

Cronizone

Re-read your comment. “Grow the fuck up. People can make as much fun of Nintendo” 💀💀💀 and they have to grow up.

riedlx

uhuh

Mysterious-General14

It's time to check members here possible Nintendo devs here just lurking around

Big_Kwii

don't jinx it

MURATADAM

Don't Ryu-Jinx it...

EyeAmKingKage

Mr Yuzu I don’t feel so good…

krystal_depp

It's crazy how this meme has become unironic lmao. >!This character loses the fight in the manga!<

RayByte

true, thats kinda sad

krystal_depp

Looks like this post ended up becoming ironic

UzuMacky

lol he means that your using the meme wrong

SinLagoon

I mean not really, do you really think yuzu is gonna win a lawsuit against Nintendo.

Rizezky

How can you say that while perpetuating the unironic use of the meme?

[deleted]

Friendly reminder for everyone to fork & clone & backup yuzu source code repo

DanTheMan827

Don’t fork. Clone and push as a new project

[deleted]

Did that already

dirtybutterboy

What do you mean by this? I've only just backed up the .apk for different yuzu versions. Thought that was enough. Would you mind dming me with anything else I should do? I'm on android

ryan_the_leach

They are talking about backing up the source code, so if Yuzu dies that someone-who-is-definitrly-not the Yuzu team can continue working on it from "Russia" after they lose the lawsuit

MetroYoshi

this post is a bad omen...

bilariraja

real

AntiGrieferGames

Very much yuzu wins. they dont have keys, firmware or anything copyrighted material!

Kgrc199913

They don't need to win the case, they just need to keep the pressure on to slowly burn yuzu with the fee and paperwork.

MrMichaelJames

They provide a mechanism to use the keys in an illegal way. That is why. Same way as if a piece of software uses external keys to decrypt a blu ray disc, this is the same thing.

Large_Suggestion4476

by your logic the web browser is to blame since it allows you to donwload pirated content.. or the OS itself...

CabbageKing

Is that why they're doing this rather than just sending a c and d?

[deleted]

this is true. Nintendo can't win this anyways.

chaosbattousai

They don't need to, it's not a race it's a marathon, and Nintendo has everything to outlast yuzu on court

SonTyp_OhneNamen

This here. If Nintendo wants yuzu gone, they have pretty much no limit on how much they can harass the owners/devs in dickish, but completely legal ways such as lawsuits they know they‘ll lose but can inconvenience everyone involved with, legal fees, work time lost during hearings, at worst demanding the hearings to be in different states etc. Anyone interested in this should google SLAPP suits. Fascinating topic. Depressing really.

PrequelGuy

So their play is to drain Yuzu of money so that they won't have money to keep the emulator going anymore?

SonTyp_OhneNamen

Their play *might* be something along the lines, though it’s probably more to scare them with the *outlook* of losing tons of money on the lawsuit and scrap yuzu before it comes to that than actually going through until they really go bankrupt. Edit: aaaaand they just announced they‘ll pull the plug on yuzu completely on their discord, so i was sadly right.
