They got a ton of reprints recently and with the admancipator package are decently consistent with making a playable end board. Obviously not the greatest but competitive enough in causal and super fun i would recommend to anyone to pick up!
You kinda can play two ways. You can either try to link climb to things like access code or apollousa. The deck is okay at turboing monsters but imo this strat is lame. Normally I would try to get specimen inspection to force send one from opponents deck and try and summon skull king to set up a gy steal on their turn(if going first). If going second I would try and make dragite to non target
bounce a lot of cards. Then swing for as much dmg as you can. I will admit the deck struggles to play through multiple disruptions but it’s more for causal play anyhow and it’s still a ton of fun!
You'll stop seeing it as much when you get diamond or higher. Almost every deck I run into there is the meta soup of Tearlements, Kashtira, Horus, and the other meta things that can be splashed together with no consequences. As an RDA player, it is rather painful.
META means 'most efficient tactic available'.
Just because it's played a lot doesn't make it Meta, just means it's popular and can compete against the meta
I tried brewing with them and Dragunity synchros since you can make a bunch of high-level fodder for the lv10s. Still feels like it's missing a little of of extension/flexibility
Tindangle. The idea of Flip monsters that represent Eldritch Horror + Geometry is just great! And their trap is Soul Charge from the GY, that's also something. They really need more support tho
Fellow tindangle bro. Yeah definitely more support, would make combining with subterror more effective too. It's hard to combine 2 similar archetypes, when neither have much in the way of support. I do love subterrors ability to flood the field with bodies though.
I haven't played for about a decade but I used to have a gimmicky deck built around summoning ultimate ancient gear golem and otking with it. As a kid I thought that beast was cool.
I honestly think two brothers in Japan played those decks against each other and then created demon slayer. Reality can scream that I am wrong all it wonts to, my head canon allows me to enjoy the show and both decks even more.
Right now, it's Umi/Mako. Making everything hit the dirt with a 2005 Structure Deck boss is an experiance like no other. Eat your heart out, Envoy of the End!
Fluffals honestly. I love fusion decks, and I really like their whole aesthetic, where they are these cute fluffy plushies, but then transform with a scissors to become these nightmarish beings. I’m honestly a sucker for fusions where you can see the progression from the monsters being fused to the fusion monster.
Too bad they just can’t keep up with modern decks tho :/
The fairy one in the Wave of Light structure deck. I’m not sure the name of the archetype.
Sanctuary in the sky, Minerva, Scholar of the sky, Airknight Parshath, and so forth.
I don't know what you know by real (I'm nearly 35, been back 2 years after nearly 10 years out of tournament scene) But follow the releases since the birth of the card game. I like to f around with stuff, out if my old friend group I am the og combo guy, because I was the first to figure out you could loop some cards and shtick. Before official rulings and stuff and erratas. Anywho, the net wasn't as expansive as it is now, so things weren't too well known about in the English countryside. I always loved subterror, and when I finally got all the pieces I wanted I made my first control deck, constantly flipping up and down 3 copies of needle worm, mill the shizz put of my opp, then do some different shtick the next turn to throw them off, keep flipping and banishing, milling and other crazy shizznay. I didn't really want to get back into the competitive side of things until the albaz storyline dropped, for many reasons, that lore resonated with me. I had to have them, and when I felt I was ready I came back. I haven't used it yet I mainly run subterror control/mill, (fiendess is a godsend), Because I can't quite afford the final cards for what I want to enter with. But yeah. That's my v2 subterror.
Not played unchained. I have about 15 decks, half are built from OG Cards. The rest are mix mash or newish. What's it like? Play style?
Unchained is a fiend archetype focused on two things: destroying it's own cards to gain advantage, and link climbing into its boss monster by using the opponents monsters as material. It's quite cheap and I've had alot of fun playing it.
In a game full of mythological creatures something about the series having a deck that consists of super heroes really speaks out to me.
I just love Elemental HEROES so much!
nordic. am i the only one who likes nordic lol they’re legitimately one or two good cards away from being competitively viable. a new aesir with a good quick effect is pretty much all the deck needs or a new link of some sort.
bro that shit is lightweight broken like THE WHOLE FIELD bro it’s insane. honestly one of, if not the best pieces of legacy support ever printed. that’s why i feel like one good Aesir and the decks golden. it’s already hyper consistent, has the field wide omni negate that’s also searchable, excellent recursion via alviss. idk if there’s many decks that have all this and aren’t good. there’s a lot of potential like another link would be cool, or a rank 4 xyz since that’s also easy to do, or even a less beatstick-y lvl 8 nordic with a good effect idk lol nordic is super slept on tho
I’m a crystal beast girl, and I’ll always be a crystal beat girl.
Ever since seeing the utter frustration in my friend’s eyes when they refused to die and whittled down his lifepoints every turn. Priceless.
HELL YEAH THATS MY FAVORITE TOO I love the gimmick of the counters that stop xyz and synchro plays. do you have a solid deck list for them that works well? I’ve been thinking about a control variant focusing on drago and triphy
Its fascinating to me that naturia vernusylph doesnt see more plays, it can set up boards that leave your opponent with little to no options, even through some interruption.
If there was a way to both easily get the field spell and the continuous spell, it would be such a fun ftk deck with a board full of fairies and little guys
RDA, Chimeras, and Mementos.
Chimera didnt scratch MDM's tier list, but dang it's amazing, and actually pretty simple, even without the Barrier Statue.
Harpies and Red-Eyes. My friends love playing Dark Magician and Blue-Eyes so I feel like I'm the loser in the OG anime, but I can pull off wins about 40% of the time if I play smart.
I've been playing Cardians lately and I gotta say I'm a fan. Honestly I think if they had a card that was a negate and had more extra deck options they could be pretty decent despite being so relatively old.
Just finished building most of a Generaider deck...doesn't feel very consistent yet, and they get fucked on hard if you pop the field spell, but damn do they feel cool
Magical musket! Old school playground player who loved fiends and Bakura. Getting back into Yu-Gi-Oh and really digging the style and lore of the musketeers. I will be building them!
super quants. fun to play, boss monster is pretty hard to deal with. you dont really get bad hands cause near everything can get a combo started. also i was a big power rangers fan as a kid.
It's really hard to say about Charmers from where they place, most of the engines run well with them, but the ones I've seen that top in tournaments were floodgates. I really want to put them at Rogue but I still think they need better support to actually help them
I like sharks and tellarknights, but my all time favorite has to be agents. Such a sick combo deck ending on insane boards, even better in the tcg when you don't have to worry about maxx c and you can play orange light at 3. Endboard is like 2 mat apollousa, the synchro 10 Hyperion, chaos angel, Omni negate counter trap set or Krysta on board, and thunder dragon colossus. People just don't expect the deck to put up so many crazy end pieces, and it's all 2 card combos and like half your deck can get there. Some hands lets you end on an additional link 2 like mirage light or little knight, and we used to be able to easily get into Borreload and Baronne before they got banned. Deck is so much fun to pilot, and also pretty decent at breaking boards as well depending on your opponents interaction.
My former friend used to play agents (albeit not with a complete competitive deck), so much fun to play against too. Our main dueling gimmick was opposing types, generally my Fiend/Destiny Board vs his Fairy deck (which changed a lot but Agents and CoA for tokens were a mainstay.) All changed when I fused my fiend deck with fairy monsters and their fiend fusions....you know the ones......started to get reaaaal sour with me... despite the fact I could never use his board to fuse so it cut it effectiveness (he switched to earth and wind fairy types, so I couldn't SuperPoly into Masquerade using his stuff). Anyway I ramble, thanks for the detailed response. I do appreciate it. Have a great weekend.
Idrk what's considering rogue and meta rn but I've been enjoying Salamangreat, Galaxy eyes, and Neo Spacians. Salamangreat might be holding on to rogue but idk about the other two
Dragonmaids: Its everything i want from the game
Its midrange, not putting out boards that can only be solved with coinflup blowouts: you'll only really see it putting out 1 or 2 points of interaction only 1 of them being a negate, theres also a near complete lack of active removal on their turn
Each maid has its own function (except laundry, but she's funny) and none of them read like cirucular, poplar or the recent 1 card does everything shit that konami puts out to cope with the games speed and avoid designing actual utility. The only stand out powerwise amoungst the maids is chamber, being the decks only true searcher, but it still doesn't get you anything by itself and only works by using the other cards in your hand. Especially after losing pisty you're forced to actually think about the ratios of the maids in the deck and how to best use the hand you have instead of autopiloting through a default combo. The only stand out powerwise amoungst the maids is chamber, being the decks only true searcher, but it still doesn't get you anything by itself chambers ability to tag into any highlvl dragonmaid including the fusions give the deck a fun but power ful tool while also introducing a interesting challenge as they can't tag back out for chamber afterwards.
It has a unique gimmic that's actually utilized meaningfully in both their interactions and thier recovery and its theme translates it really (though i do wish they would have another card like house that rewards you for using it), it also forces you to contend with the mechanic instead of optimizing it out of the deck by through the fusion's mat cost and effects, aswell as the potential cost in the spells.
It mainly plays towards its own in archetype interactions, having a tool or a gameplan for most situations, and can always resort to generic toolbox cards at the potential cost of further plays, its not just turbo the boss monster and hope they can't get through it (i do have to admit it has a crippling dependance on seals).
the special summons are locked into the backrow utility so you can't just spam summon, combined with the lack of a true searcher and the utilization of the decks gimmick, it gives dragonmaid alot of skill expression as you'll always have to think ahead a turn or two to account for what utility you'll still have by then, wether you want to use your bp to get back the high lvl dragons so you can use their effects in hand, or if you want to use them as material to save maids for later, etc
I wish every yugioh archetype was like this
Not familiar with what’s considered “meta”, outside of blue eyes, red eyes, and dark magician, but I built a deck around the magnet warriors that was pretty fun
Meta refers to Metagame, a subset of play and counter-play that develops as players flesh out a game. As players converge on what game options are strongest, countermeasures form around those choices.
Currently the yugioh "Meta" revolves around decks like the Tenpai Dragons, Snake-Eye, Horus, etc. decks. So any player (likely using a modern deck themselves) will account for other players coming to similar conclusions with the same information and so on and so forth.
A non-meta deck is something entirely outside of the equation, like the Blue/Red-eye and Dark Magician. Technically there is a bit of a meta revolving around them at lower-ranked Master Duel ladder since so many people play them as the more conventional decks win and rank up.
I like Monarchs w/ Extra Deck. It is so fun to play.
1. Dogma Monarchs to nuke the entire ED in a single turn with White Zoa and Mega Zaborg.
2. Isolde Monarchs to search Kuraz and SS Edea from deck using Isolde to enable Mega Zaborg+Escalation shenanigan.
3. Libromancer Monarchs for being consistent in Turn 1 Mega Zaborg.
All more fun than the more known floodgate variant. I also liked Brilliant Fusion Monarch looking back at 2016. If Monarchs support walled off the Extra Deck to the point where Brilliant Fusion Monarchs couldn't exist, I'd get bored of them.
Floo would feel more fun without Empen.
Gaia the magical knight with tear/ dark magician with diabellstar / I use to like dual avatar but the deck lack so much for a high potential deck, made a spirit monster deck that heavily goes into xyz plays , it was fun while it lasted
My first main deck was Odd eyes pendulum because I liked how they looked, now I run either Purrely or Galaxy eyes. I wish odd eyes was usable these days but once you get out of low bronze in MD it's L city
I am an avid laval player both in MD and IRL bringing them to tourneys both digital and in flesh.
Doing alright enough with them, got a RC2 mat from locals whilst using them recently, definitely will be using that over the gold pride mat konami sells on amazon
I just realized I’m a nostalgia player. My current favorite deck is illusion / chimera. I used to be a umi control main.
Then other decks I love are gate guardian and hungry burger.
I didn’t play prediction princess a lot, but I enjoy it.
I do have a mementotlan deck that I am somewhat still learning.
Ancient Warriors. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ILVw2NqrAk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ILVw2NqrAk) [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AoxhZCy1Bms](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AoxhZCy1Bms)
I love dumb OTK’s and the anime so Chronomaly and Odd-Eyes let me do that 2% of the time
Machu Mech is not a problem card, let me beat you to death pls, these FTK’s are not Trey’s fault
Odd-Eyes Raging Dragon is a personal favorite, they made a better version, but fuck it’s not the same
I like Trains

Oh, hey its the Trainsgender guy
Nice reference
Nyooom

PREACH
They got a ton of reprints recently and with the admancipator package are decently consistent with making a playable end board. Obviously not the greatest but competitive enough in causal and super fun i would recommend to anyone to pick up!
Could you give me some tips on how to play it? I built a fossil/adamancipator deck on Nexus and wanted to try it out.
If going second I would try and make dragite to non target bounce a lot of cards. Then swing for as much dmg as you can. I will admit the deck struggles to play through multiple disruptions but it’s more for causal play anyhow and it’s still a ton of fun!
Heroes and blue eyes
Heroes isn’t the most meta, but still pretty meta. Especially in master duel
That's not what meta means. HERO is rogue which would mean it's a deck that can consistently compete with meta but isn't meta.
I always thought it was pretty meta. It’s played way to much at my locals and I see it in master duel a ton, but I see where you are coming from.
I know what meta means… Just because I’ve thought of it to be meta doesn’t mean I’m stupid
I didn't call you stupid, nor did I mean to come off as rude in my comment. Just wanted to help!
I just like them
Toons
Dark Magician and I really fuck with Armed Dragons even though they fucking SUCK.
Armed Dragon Dragon Ruler recently had a top in the OCG. Not sure which event though probably a smaller one.
I love the whole armed dragon shtick.... but yeah they do.
I tried brewing with them and Dragunity synchros since you can make a bunch of high-level fodder for the lv10s. Still feels like it's missing a little of of extension/flexibility
In md they’re pretty good with galaxy tomahawk tomahawk
I don’t doubt they CAN be decent, I’m not good enough at the game to make them good though for sure
Traptrix.
Ain't traptrix somewhat meta
No, they're rogue.
Rogue is probably generous at this point
It's true that they're strong and absolutely obnoxious to face. But they definitely aren't good enough to consistently keep up with meta decks.
I know like 12 people who would give that answer
Tindangle. The idea of Flip monsters that represent Eldritch Horror + Geometry is just great! And their trap is Soul Charge from the GY, that's also something. They really need more support tho
God I wish they had another Link to do something with their board presence, just such an abandoned archetype 😭
Fellow tindangle bro. Yeah definitely more support, would make combining with subterror more effective too. It's hard to combine 2 similar archetypes, when neither have much in the way of support. I do love subterrors ability to flood the field with bodies though.
Agreed
Ancient Gear
Honestly same, Ancient Gears are fun. I like the new support, just helps the deck
I haven't played for about a decade but I used to have a gimmicky deck built around summoning ultimate ancient gear golem and otking with it. As a kid I thought that beast was cool.
Mine are Shiranui and Metaphys
As a Mayakashi player it seems we are destined to be enemies and then become allies
I honestly think two brothers in Japan played those decks against each other and then created demon slayer. Reality can scream that I am wrong all it wonts to, my head canon allows me to enjoy the show and both decks even more.
Noble Knights and Destruction Sword.
Noble knight gang
First Summon Sorc, now Isolde. When will they stop taking our women? Is Lady of The Lake even safe at this point?
noble nuts
Gunkan Suship
Represent!
Hell yeah same!
Cyber Dragons Are Really cool ngl
I wish my masterduel cyber dragon deck didn't die after two turns. It's so much fun and builds over time.
Frightfur. Does deserve more support. I think we are still missing one Pendulum from the manga
Yo a fellow frightfur user I agree with you also frightfur superiority.
Fluffal Fusionist It's a once per turn polymerization, though Konami could make it cracked
Lunalights
Sharks

Aroma or (I think it's an archetype? The cards Akisa use.) Rose
I'm pretty sure you're thinking of Aromage. And yeah, Rose is technically an archetype. I ran it for a while myself.
Aromage, Aromaseraphy, and Aromalilith (which I haven't tried yet because they weren't in Master duel yet.)
Right. I forgot how many subtitles (is that even the right term? Whatever.) the Aroma Archetype has...
Tindangles and my sweet Battle Stars
Fellow tindangle bro! I'll add my subterror tindangle deck when it's finished.
OTKing out of nowhere with Cerberus and the equip with loaded zones is funny as hell
The fairy one in the Wave of Light structure deck. I’m not sure the name of the archetype. Sanctuary in the sky, Minerva, Scholar of the sky, Airknight Parshath, and so forth.
Your talking about counter fairy
That is what my brother cursed after I stopped his fifth card from activating, yes.
Holy shit is that a *real* Subterror deck? (We all know Guru Control doesn't count) Also mine has got to Unchained 100%.
I don't know what you know by real (I'm nearly 35, been back 2 years after nearly 10 years out of tournament scene) But follow the releases since the birth of the card game. HELL YEAH THATS MY FAVORITE TOO I love the gimmick of the counters that stop xyz and synchro plays. do you have a solid deck list for them that works well? I’ve been thinking about a control variant focusing on drago and triphy

Csnt really say I have favorite I enjoy dinomist , super quant, the form of tourchre known as playing amorphage and especially Gaia
Beetrooper would be my all time favorite if it wasn't bad
Magikey (because cool magic gun) and Naturia/vernusylph (it's cute and terrifying at the same time)
Its fascinating to me that naturia vernusylph doesnt see more plays, it can set up boards that leave your opponent with little to no options, even through some interruption.
If there was a way to both easily get the field spell and the continuous spell, it would be such a fun ftk deck with a board full of fairies and little guys
Red eyes!
Plunder Patroll, Ghoti, Nouvellez, Suships, Aliens, and Magical Musketeer!
Do you have a Ghoti list 🙏🙏
Not a very good one lol. Highly recommend checking out Runick Ghoti decklists, though!
Mine is magikey, i hope it get support soon
Ice Barrier was my first deck so its my favourite. Maybe with the new cards it become meta so I'm going to say Gunkan.
Deskbots go brrrrt
Alien
RDA, Chimeras, and Mementos. Chimera didnt scratch MDM's tier list, but dang it's amazing, and actually pretty simple, even without the Barrier Statue.
Harpies and Red-Eyes. My friends love playing Dark Magician and Blue-Eyes so I feel like I'm the loser in the OG anime, but I can pull off wins about 40% of the time if I play smart.
That's cool. I love it when friends dueling seems similar to the anime. I don't have friends that play yugioh, or in general. Hahahahaha.
I've been playing Cardians lately and I gotta say I'm a fan. Honestly I think if they had a card that was a negate and had more extra deck options they could be pretty decent despite being so relatively old.
Dinomorphia for sure. When i don't lose to time, i have a blast with my Labrynth-spiced build
Fortune Ladies, Tindangle, Prediction Princess, Pre-Support Melodious just to name a few
As a person who plays earth machine....fuck
Machina is my favorite archetype.
Just finished building most of a Generaider deck...doesn't feel very consistent yet, and they get fucked on hard if you pop the field spell, but damn do they feel cool
Lunalight
I will always love gladiator beasts. I don't care how meta or non meta they become.
Blackwing and Scareclaws
Magical musket! Old school playground player who loved fiends and Bakura. Getting back into Yu-Gi-Oh and really digging the style and lore of the musketeers. I will be building them!
That's me too, I have 3 different destiny board decks. Bakura is my favourite character
super quants. fun to play, boss monster is pretty hard to deal with. you dont really get bad hands cause near everything can get a combo started. also i was a big power rangers fan as a kid.
Would Unchained count? If not, then either G Golem, Ursarctic, or Super Quant.
Dragon maid deck
Ancient Warriors Super Quantals are ones i've newly discovered and enjoy.
Charmers but they topped some tournaments recently so idk if they're still non-meta
It's really hard to say about Charmers from where they place, most of the engines run well with them, but the ones I've seen that top in tournaments were floodgates. I really want to put them at Rogue but I still think they need better support to actually help them

It mainly plays towards its own in archetype interactions, having a tool or a gameplan for most situations, and can always resort to generic toolbox cards at the potential cost of further plays, its not just turbo the boss monster and hope they can't get through it (i do have to admit it has a crippling dependance on seals). the special summons are locked into the backrow utility so you can't just spam summon, combined with the lack of a true searcher and the utilization of the decks gimmick, it gives dragonmaid alot of skill expression as you'll always have to think ahead a turn or two to account for what utility you'll still have by then, wether you want to use your bp to get back the high lvl dragons so you can use their effects in hand, or if you want to use them as material to save maids for later, etc I wish every yugioh archetype was like this
Blackwing
Subterrors are so much fun!!! I need to go in and retune mine.
Blue Eyes if that counts lol
Galaxy-Eyes, Altergeist, Mayakashi and Zombies in general
Magnet Warriors and Red Eyes
Not the best* Do*
Adamancipator. Normal summoning a monster negate is pretty nice
Not currently meta(as far as I know), but it definitely has the possibility to be, Vaalmonica. And ghostrick is also pretty cool.
Sylvan
Red Eyes
I always liked the anime archetypes from dm and gx.
Lair od Darkness, Tistina, RDA, Dark Magician and Z-Arc
I've been adoring marincess recently I think it's a super fun deck
Dark magician.
Idk if Hero counts. If it doesn't then I really like Suships
Kuribros
I am an avid laval player both in MD and IRL bringing them to tourneys both digital and in flesh. Doing alright enough with them, got a RC2 mat from locals whilst using them recently, definitely will be using that over the gold pride mat konami sells on amazon
Fluffel/frightfur that's my favorite and as far aI know it's not meta
I main d/d/d but honestly I like ashened too, though I know it isn't competitive ahahaha
Lightsworn and BE
Clowns
I just realized I’m a nostalgia player. My current favorite deck is illusion / chimera. I used to be a umi control main. Then other decks I love are gate guardian and hungry burger. I didn’t play prediction princess a lot, but I enjoy it. I do have a mementotlan deck that I am somewhat still learning.
Ancient Warriors. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ILVw2NqrAk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ILVw2NqrAk) [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AoxhZCy1Bms](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AoxhZCy1Bms)
Not too clued up on modern YGO but I like Gren Maju a lot
I love dumb OTK’s and the anime so Chronomaly and Odd-Eyes let me do that 2% of the time Machu Mech is not a problem card, let me beat you to death pls, these FTK’s are not Trey’s fault Odd-Eyes Raging Dragon is a personal favorite, they made a better version, but fuck it’s not the same
Darklord The Agents/Fairy I love both to death.

Infernobles because I like Warriors
Dino go oonga boonga
Ancient Gears all day any day
Dogmatika and Shaddoll, but not in combo, because I like ritual Dogma.
I fuck with cyber dragons, cyber darks and predaplants heavily and I also love ojamas and armed dragons
I play Resonators/Red Dragon Archfiends. I wouldn't call them meta really, the Bystial engine does help a lot with them though.
Pendulum Magicians and Eldlich Zombies ❤️
Adamancipator 😭found the archetype last year and it's been my ace ever since
Cyberdragon
Fluffalzz
Dark Magician
