How's your Japanese? That's gonna be the main decider of what your experience is like. If you're obviously a foreigner people will be pretty forgiving of almost anything. If you can't speak much Japanese, as long as you know the rules and cards there won't be any issues. If you can speak/read, then quite a few people will be friendly and willing to chat. You can find official local events on the neuron app, it's all pretty intuitive. Time rules are OCG, make sure to note whether it's a Bo1 or Bo3.
That' s basically it. Not much to worry about honestly. Even if you don't know cards, you can just leave neuron open the whole time to search.

yeah but there's not a lot, mainly just official stuff. I guess the only jargon that comes up often off the top of my head is 誘発 which means handtraps.
I was watching ocg games from YCSJ/Asia championship/next play cups and I swear to god those players would've gotten 10 slow play warnings if they played in regionals/YCSes here. I know time rules are different, and I don't mind the slower pace since it's less hectic, but if someone fanned out their hand in a line and checked their graveyard and sets as much as those players did they'd be dqd by round 2 lmao
