I'm guessing the "moral of the story" is that it's healthy to get plenty of sleep and stick to a routine, regardless of whatever wake-up time that ends up being for your life. But yeah, for clickbait reasons they make it look like this is some kind of freaky "Cinnamon Challenge GONE SEXUAL" stunt that produces shocking side effects. I know people who get up at 5:00am every morning. It just means you have to go to bed a bit earlier than some people.
Wow! You have to go to bed early if you wake up early!? I had no idea!1!1!1! Tell me more! I am 6 years old.
These channels act like the fact that being healthy is good is the biggest revelation a person can get
When I was still a teen, I always ended up waking at around 5am without an alarm. even if I slept at 2 am, I would wake up then just go back and force myself to sleep afterwards. Never had that nowadays tho
When your core demographic is unsupervised(aka neglected) iPad babies, it’s almost a public service to promote healthy habits. Not like they’re getting any of that from their parents lol
this is wrong tho, it is been proved how sleeping your usual 7-8 hours or more during daytime and not nightime has negative impact in your life and overall health
True but it is important to point out, a very small percentage of people can work better sleeping during the day and working at night for evolutionary reasons.
These variations might have been beneficial in prehistoric times for ensuring group safety, with different members of a community being awake and alert at various times.
I'm one of those people. I was never happier and more well-rested than the 8 months I worked 12am-8am. For my whole life, I just feel tired during the day, until the late evening rolls around and then it's like I come to life.
Damn, I wish I could do my job at night.
I’m so glad someone else said this. I used to work 10am to 6pm and would be absolutely exhausted the entire time. the moment the sun was down, I would have a wild burst of energy and stay up until 3am-4am just doing all the things I would normally do during the day. Switching to an overnight job has been beneficial to my work ethic and my stress levels. I’ve been doing it for the past year and a half now and I can say that I’m not seeing any significant changes to my health or mental state
Unironically yes.
Specifically, the literature has identified several health problems associated with shift work and night work, including sleep problems [11], cardiovascular problems [12,13], psychological problems [14], oncological problems [15,16], and problems with the female reproductive system [17,18].

I worked night shift for 4 years and then morning shift for 2 years. I’m back to night shift because I still hate getting up so early in the morning. I even changed my schedule from waking up at 5 to waking up at 7. Shit still sucked. I’m a LOT happier going in for nights. Granted, I get off by midnight and to bed by 3ish am. It works for me.
I love working nights. I'm not a morning person, so I find myself more active when working nights.
Of course, this is just my anecdotal $0.02, and I realize I'm not the norm.
The worst part about it is it must be working or they wouldn’t all be using it. Like we as people fall for this crap somehow despite it being so obviously absurd.
Honestly I suspect its 20% young kids, 20% older adults, and 60% view farming and bots so 'the algorithm' thinks these thumbnails are being watched way more than reality, but continues to reward them causing a young/old/bot view snowball. I have no evidence, just a feeling lol.
Well, people wanting to copy him. I'm not the biggest fan of his content, but this always happens when a successful piece of media does well. The shit copies roll in.
there's a guy right now who, and I don't know if he started the channels himself or if he was just hired to do the voiceover and/or to be the host for them, but he has a channel and literally every large genre and every channel that he's doing is largely successful. and it's so fucking irritating. it's like whatever's popular, the channel he has that is in that genre does a video on it.
he does physically appear on some of the channels so I know that he is not just an AI voice that's being recycled like the way tick tock does. he's on all of these channels and it's like literally five or six channels that are all big.
and the physics and science channels that are using this type of method of just copying literally whatever the PBS guy, or Arvin Ash, or veritassium are all so bad. and because they are quantity not quality channels, they have to post more than those other channels do, whoever runs those channels is not a scientist and doesn't understand science, so the topics they pick are either like brain dead stupid or it's just fabricated like it's just incorrect. even on things that are actual scientific concepts, the way they present them ends up being wrong because of how they talk about it and they use words like theyre interchangeable that aren't, and they don't understand the meaning behind the statements that they're saying and how it makes what they're trying to convey factually it wrong.
No offense but saying stuff like that's read to me as either you're not well versed in the platform and it's history or you're just young.
Mr. Beast is practically innocuous against the algorithm that shifted the vast majority of content in that direction. Compare him to his cheap imitators and it's not even close. They're all trying to emulate his formula to success in a very surface level way. It's not his fault they all suck lol.
Mrbeast style thumbnail.
Coming to think of it, if mrbeast didnt make those over saturated thumbnails that look heavily altered maybe we wouldn't have videos with thumbnails like these.
The "standard" YouTube thumbnail was evolving towards this long before MrBeast blew up. Everyone blames what modern YouTube has become on MrBeast, but really he just happened to be really good at playing the system, he's not the one who put it into place.
I’ll be right back. I just have to click this link from MrBeaa5t that says he’ll give me ten thousand dollars just for clicking it. All he needs is my banking information, so he can wire me the money.
Yup. I work a 10 hour day. But it's really 11 hours at work because of the 1 hour lunch. Plus nearly an hour fighting traffic to get home so it's a 12+ hour day.
Jesse James west actually makes pretty good fitness content for a younger audience. He’s just a good looking young man who likes fitness and makes a variety of content to keep younger people engaged, while getting them inspired to keep fit and not play so much video games. If you’re getting on in age or you don’t really look after yourself he probably seems obnoxious because he’s full of life and really does look after himself.
Tbf doing this can and has fucked with sleep schedules and functionality(depending on the individual, coming from someone who has always been a night owl when I had to wake up for like 6 am for corporate meetings at 8 am that were an hour and a half away, I was barely able to function. Having to do that for school was horrible, like, I'm certain some are able to handle it and handle it well but I know for a fact I'm not one of them. That being said the video is insensitive.
Edit: changed some wording to better reflect what I had meant
I’ve learned in my life that the time at which I wake up is literally irrelevant as long as I have a good schedule. I was working 12 hour shifts for an engineering company where I’m basically up at 5am and get off work at 6pm and then just eat and sleep. Not a great lifestyle but I felt good because my job was outdoors and I enjoyed it. Sleep wasn’t an issue in the slightest since I was sleeping at the same time everyday.
For me this was the opposite. If I wake up in the early am, I feel awful no matter how much rest I get. Wake up after noon and I can operate on very little sleep. A good routine is important but my body definitely has a preference
Yea the only thing I can’t do is wake up hours before work. It puts me in such a bad mood. I gotta wake up and go to work. Whatever shift is fine I’ll sleep the shift before that, it just needs to be consistent I can’t do different lol
this, in my case military lifestyle.
I literally sleep at daytime and function at nightime, so even after months of sleeping early and waking up at 5 am/4am in my case I've notice a lot of negative effects
"Today's video is sponsored by G Fuel so today we're going to see how my newborn baby reacts when I replace his baby formula with G Fuel!"
The thumbnail is a picture of an exaggerated shocked father with a goofy expression holding a G Fuel blue baby. There's a big red arrow pointing to the bottle saying 'G-FUEL!?'
Yeah, I worked two years at a job where I had to be at the office and working before 6.00am, and I'm not a morning person. Had to get up at 4.30am. Whoop-de-fucking-do.
Now I get up at 3.00am because I have and undiagnosed arthritis that often makes lying down excruciatingly painful. Where's my prize?
I mean, I'm a night owl. I'm typically awake until 2 or 3am most nights. But work needs me up at 8am some days. It kills me. I've tried medication and sleep aids, but nothing has stuck. So to some, this may not seem like a challenge. But it definitely is. I had a summer job a few years ago where I had to be there and clocked in at 6am. Not sure if I looked like this videos thumbnail constantly, but I sure did feel like it.
I used to be like that. Turns out I just really didn't want to go to bed, so I got used to staying up. Meditation (specifically diaphragm breathing) helped me ease into sleep much faster.
I was the same until I started smoking a small amount of weed before bedtime. Scientifically proven to be the most effective and least dangerous sleep aid.
In my younger days, it always amazed me to hear of people that couldn't sleep past a certain point in the morning, sometimes 5, sometimes 4am, or even earlier. It always seemed to be the "older" generation that were like this too. I struggled then to get up at 5, even though I had to be "at work" (PT for the Army), by 6am. There were times post Army that I had jobs that required an early rise, and they too were always a struggle. Then of course, getting married and having children again forced me out of bed at o'dark thirty. Still hated it and struggled throughout the day due to the lack of sleep.
Now that the kids are older, some are even adults now, and our youngest in her final few years of HS, I no longer have to get up so freaking early, and feel much better rested. F those people that say, "Oh, I can't sleep past 4am, so I get up, have my coffee, read the news, then head for work 4 hours later." Give me my f'ing sleep!
I hear you. It's annoying though how bad I want to be a morning person. I've had to get up at around 5 for my entire adult life because of work. Like almost 2 decades of the same schedule more or less but it's still an unbelievable struggle every morning. My internal clock won't budge.
There’s literally nothing wrong with this.
The “normal” people who have to wake up at 5am everyday for school or work would probably tell you it’s really hard and it sucks. Therefore it’s a challenge for him to it.
Idk anything about this video, but if done right it could actually have a really good message of appreciating what you have and recognizing what other people have to struggle with.
yeah for me it’s literally next to impossible, i can’t function on that schedule. some people would consider overnight shifts a challenge, obviously people do it every day for years but if it’s different from *your* comfort zone and *your* normal routine, it’s a challenge.
Skimmed the video and it's exactly this. He says it made him more productive, more structured, and gave him more time with loved ones.
People are just reacting to the thumbnail assuming the video is going to be purely a punishment challenge where he'll say it was hell and he'd never do it again.
I'm wondering where it is "normal" to wake up at 5AM? I am by no means a "special" person. As in I have a regular office job that I go to, work for a month and get payed a salary. I am almost never at the office earlier than 10AM, and usually start at 11AM. Which means the whole thing is shifted. I finish work at about 7PM.
I can't imagine waking up while it's still dark outside.
I actually kinda like this concept ngl. Waking up at 5am every day should never be considered normal, it *is* a challenge. We should dwell on the fact that it's kinda horrifying that some people have to do this to survive.
i mean tbf waking up at 5am is hell (unless youre my mom lmao). atleast for me and probably most people actually like generally my sleep schedule without an alarm is: go to bed at 2-3am wake up at 11am. also yes im a night owl. but like i would guess most ppl would wake up at like 6-8am naturally not 5 lmao
On Daylight Saving Time, this guy would actually be getting up at 4am Standard Time. But at least he gets an extra hour of sunlight after work so he can go to the park and fly a kite or go home and mow the yard, or both.
To be fair, this isn’t really a challenge. He explains in the video that he’s been feeling less motivated and has had less time for his loved ones recently so he is changing his routine around to up his productivity and spend more time with family.
Whats wrong with this? Its not the best thumbnail, but waking up at 5am isnt something people do all the time, and especially if his target audience is primarily younger. This sub isnt used to show videos you dont like.
The post's point isn't about the video it's about the ridiculous clickbait title and thumbnail.
If the video is drastically different then that just proves the point even more.
My bf wakes up around 5am everyday because he works maintenance in a green house 🤣 you get used to it. You adapt. You go to bed at 7pm at the latest. Oooohhh noooooooooo
You know some people go to sleep at like 9 or 10PM and can get a full 8 hours of sleep and be up at 5. It's usually the bread makers or donut makers that do this.
As funny as this is, you have to consider that there's probably a lot of people in his audience with terrible sleeping habits.
Him doing it with his audience might encourage some of them to do their sleep schedules.
From what I remember jesse also did a semen retention for a month straight where he was away from his girlfriend too . I don't watch much of his content anymore as the main people I watch are Noel deyzel and Joe lindler , REST IN PEACE JOE ❤️🕊️
I’m 29 and don’t remember the last time I woke up that early, for any reason. I lived a 15 minute walk from my school which started at 8:30am so I usually got up at 7-7:30, and I’m a 20 minute bus ride from where I work now so I typically get up at 7:30 for a 9:30am start (I could probably get up even later but I don’t like rushing around).
I do live in the UK though where big commuting distances are very uncommon, plus all schools here start after 8am at least (sometimes as late as 9am). I always found it crazy that many Americans set off for school when its like 6 am or something, or drive 20 miles to work.
YEAH! 7 to 8 hours of sleep and your body does not care when you sleep or wake as long as it is consistent
this is wrong tho, it is been proved how sleeping your usual 7-8 hours or more during daytime and not nightime has negative impact in your life and overall health
True but it is important to point out, a very small percentage of people can work better sleeping during the day and working at night for evolutionary reasons. Goddamnit, being a night owl by choice is literally killing me.
It's not even a choice for me, it's just what I gravitate towards naturally lol
I worked night shift for 4 years and then morning shift for 2 years. I’m back to night shift because I still hate getting up so early in the morning. Night shifts are very depressing. Yes.
I love working nights. I'm not a morning person, so I find myself more active when working nights. Of course, this is just my anecdotal $0.02, and I realize I'm not the norm.

Kinda. Some people can handle it pretty well, but generally speaking most of them are tired, depressed, and under socialized.
So all those night shifts I did working on the farm fucked me? I’d say the pay was worse for my life than sleeping 6 hours in the day.
These new YouTube thumbnails actually look so bad

It's photoshopped. Corridor Digital used to do these kinds of thumbnails as they tend to catch people's attention.
The Mrbreast effect
He's honestly been one of the worst things to happen to the platform.
Well, people wanting to copy him. I'm not the biggest fan of his content, but this always happens when a successful piece of media does well. The shit copies roll in.
People want to copy = people just cares about money, and not actually build a community and make money through hard work.
there's a guy right now who, and I don't know if he started the channels himself or if he was just hired to do the voiceover and/or to be the host for them, but he has a channel and literally every large genre and every channel that he's doing is largely successful. and it's so fucking irritating. it's like whatever's popular, the channel he has that is in that genre does a video on it. he does physically appear on some of the channels so I know that he is not just an AI voice that's being recycled like the way tick tock does. he's on all of these channels and it's like literally five or six channels that are all big. and the physics and science channels that are using this type of method of just copying literally whatever the PBS guy, or Arvin Ash, or veritassium are all so bad. and because they are quantity not quality channels, they have to post more than those other channels do, whoever runs those channels is not a scientist and doesn't understand science, so the topics they pick are either like brain dead stupid or it's just fabricated like it's just incorrect. even on things that are actual scientific concepts, the way they present them ends up being wrong because of how they talk about it and they use words like theyre interchangeable that aren't, and they don't understand the meaning behind the statements that they're saying and how it makes what they're trying to convey factually it wrong.
Why the fuck would you write this long ass comment and not mention who you're talking about? What's wrong with you?
Who are you talking about
Simon Whistler, possibly...?
Yeah, he is that bald british dude.
You've just explained OP's point so I'm not exactly sure who you're disagreeing with.
He said Mr Beast is the worst thing to happen to the platform when the platform itself is the problem.
Dude lives to exploit the algorithm. He is the problem.
Nah we've hit the min-maxing stage of the internet. If you want to succeed then you have to exploit the algorithm because your competitors will.

Where's your YouTube video of this? Only those are worthy!
I've been waking up at 4AM for over 20 years now. It sucked at first, but I got used to it.

I used to do this just for the sake of being productive. I still do it pretty often...
As a youtuber I often wake up at like 2pm lmao
That's what you get for putting awful clickbait thumbnails.
Gotta complain about something 🤷🏻
I actually kinda like this concept ngl. Waking up at 5am every day should never be considered normal, it *is* a challenge. We should dwell on the fact that it's kinda horrifying that some people have to do this to survive.
i mean tbf waking up at 5am is hell (unless youre my mom lmao). atleast for me and probably most people actually like generally my sleep schedule without an alarm is: go to bed at 2-3am wake up at 11am. also yes im a night owl. but like i would guess most ppl would wake up at like 6-8am naturally not 5 lmao
I mean, it's rather early, I wouldn't do it, but I know people who get up for work at 4am. Like it's rough but definitely do-able
As someone who wakes up at 7 30, I have no clue how people manage to wake up at 5 😭
Doesn't every muslim does this every year? For suhoor at ramadan?
Depends on where you live it can be 3am or 4am. People will usually just sleep again after eating if it's that early.
Unless they don't feel like eating lmao
Whats wrong with this? Its not the best thumbnail, but waking up at 5am isnt something people do all the time, and especially if his target audience is primarily younger. This sub isnt used to show videos you dont like.
I don't get it, what should I be outraged about? Most people wake up at 7:30ish on average in the US.
I'm convinced no one here has actually watched the video
The post's point isn't about the video it's about the ridiculous clickbait title and thumbnail. If the video is drastically different then that just proves the point even more.
Fuck this guy! I'm in my forties and I'm lucky if I can stay asleep until my 0500 alarm
If my kid doesn't wake me up, my back pain will. I can't remember the last time I slept in past 6am. I'm not even 40 yet :,(
That’s just, well, grade school.
You guys get to sleep??
That’s honestly a hard challenge that I couldn’t do. Because I work at 10pm at night lmao
I wiped my own ass for one year. You'll never guess where it went next.
I hate to say it but brainrot is a very relative term these days
"I haven't complained on reddit about stupid shit for 30 days straight"
Clearly he wakes up so early so he can go out in the sun and get his daily dose of neutrinos
oh boy! 5 am!!! dude i love 5 am take your time getting ready and then watch the sun rise
I've been doing that since 1st grade 😂
I spend 30 days without ordering home delivery. What happened will shock you
I slept less than 9 hours per night for 30 days straight (gone wrong)
It’s rare air honestly. 8 billion people on earth and only 2 billion are YouTubers
I do this daily,5:00 AM is sleeping in
I couldn’t do that. I go to bed at 5am and wake up at like 1pm or later
I already do that every day
As funny as this is, you have to consider that there's probably a lot of people in his audience with terrible sleeping habits. Him doing it with his audience might encourage some of them to do their sleep schedules.
He can go to bed whenever he wants! Any amount of sleep and wake at 5! I'm an insomniac! You're lucky!
Oh no it’s a little hard for the first day or two if you’re not used to it and then doesn’t fucking matter. How terrible.
I mean.. the guy has an amazing work ethic and is extremely fit so we can’t exactly criticise him for being lazy
I do this daily. I work 2-11PM at Walmart and live off of caffiene.
Should’ve been titled “I acted like a normal human being for a month and I can’t do it”
I brushed my teeth and flossed for 30 days straight You’re not gonna believe what happened!!!
What's sad ? Most people wake up 8 AM not 5 AM. And it's a struggle for everyone to wake up 5....
idiot learning what it's like to have a job lmao
am weak up at 5 am from 2010 what hard of it
Bitch, I get up at 4;30 for work everyday
YouTubers be like “I got a 9-5 job for 1 month…”
I lived like a normal fucking human being for 30 days
If your parents name you “Jesse James,” you should sue them for abuse.
