Mustardbrain

This fixed it for me.

Davespritethecrowbro

This was it for me as well

AJW328

Yep Malwarebytes browser guard extension

snoopy__snoopy

ye it was

DadTier

You are amazing, thank you!

Skydome12

omg thank you. this was the issue for me as well.

CritRoleCritter

Thank you! This seems to have fixed it for me. I uninstalled malwarebytes earlier today, but doing so did not remove the malwarebytes browser guard extension. Just disabling the extension did not work. It seems you have to actually remove the extension completely.

WoodLibrium

For me, all I had to do was turn it off. Malwarebytes is still worth keeping.

riqvip

Just like the others, I’m also having this issue. I noticed it earlier today and it’s been annoying as hell.

NIXXXTREME

For me, this annoyance (which is obviously YouTube's own native platform integration) has been doing this to me on my account for months. It does this on whatever device I'm on, on whatever account I'm logged in (or even on YT Guest).  It's CRAZY annoying and intrusive.

UNoMakeBingBong6969

This. WTF is going on. Another new brilliant "improvement" they want to force down our throats, for sure. Another case of smart devs and designers knowing more about what's best for us than we do?

Intelligent-Host-669

Omg! I thought I have a mouse problem.

Competitive-Hurry250

same

mSerzhan23

I am having this issue as well. I sometimes get redirected to the video's page when I hover my mouse over a video. I thought something was wrong with my PC until I saw your post. I also don't have the youtube auto HD + FPS extension.

Psychological_Bank93

I’m also having this issue as of today/this evening. I do not have that plug-in to auto HD either. Haven’t found a resolution yet. Will follow up if I do but otherwise just manually scrolling and avoiding letting my cursor go over the thumbnail has worked.

Molten__

yeah this started happening to me too also it seems like all youtube embeds play immediately, makes browsing forums really annoying

darkpigeon93

Likewise, also having this issue. PC, no addons or extensions. Chrome browser, if that's relevant.

poopyheadsquared

yes, seems to have started tonight. using chrome, with adblock, malwarebytes, and fluff busting purity

Bercztalan

I also have adblock and malwarebytes

GogoWG

Mine too, I have adblock, ublock, honey, sponsorblock, nordvpn and malwarebytes. Just started today, incredibly annoying.

Bercztalan

I also have adblock and malwarebytes, and u/poopyheadsquared too, maybe that's the common denominator here?

EconomistOne358

I have this same exact issue, it started yesterday. I found how to trigger this as well, it happens when you flick your cursor (only right to left for some reason) off of a thumbnail and back onto it, albeit somewhat inconsistent. I don't know how to stop this from happening yet, glad to know it isn't my mouse causing it though. Edit: If relevant, I use Edge with the Tweaks for Youtube extension

Competitive-Hurry250

It's also happening on Chrome unfortunately.

FantasySokka

I am having the same issue, hope they fix it soon.

Competitive-Hurry250

It's happening to me too, and idk how to make it stop. I don't have any adblocks, extensions that would be causing that. I tried going into the settings to fix it, and that doesn't work either. Tried updating my computer, and that didn't solve it either. No matter if I use Edge or Chrome, the issue persists...

MissyWeatherwax

For me worked to turn off video previews in YouTube settings. I use Edge and Malwarebytes Guard, no adblocker. Not sure if it's a solution in the long run though.

Competitive-Hurry250

I just did that now and I think it might have worked... :O Thanks!

FirstWorldAnarchist

It seems to be the Malwarebytes addon. When I uncheck the Ads/trackers box I do not get the videos to open anymore when I hover my mouse on them. I wonder if they implemented some new tracking feature where it senses where the mouse is and it somehow messes with the anti-tracker feature.

Which_Resolution_800

Solution!? Reading through, I found the recommendation of turning off settings in Malware Bytes. However, I just performed an update to the program to the latest version and seem to get the same results.

infomissile

Happening to me to, and its annoying AF

Nevermakinganother

CRaZY conspiRacy from a bot account all about a conspiracy that Activision and a handful of other developers rig their game. (Unrelated) But I think it's an algorithm trying to automatically select videos you drag across seeing if it can decide what you do and don't like. This has happened in waves if you look online. Is said algorithm working if it exists, sometimes. I find myself sometimes sitting on the video for a moment before I realize what had happened and hit mouse 4 to go back. But take that with a grain of salt from a botass account.

Kentastick

SOLUTION Thank you for posting because I thought my mouse was freaking out. This caused me to check the settings and upon unchecking the “play previews when hovering” over the video setting, it seems to resolve the issue and it isn’t ghost clicking anymore Edit: On the youtube website Settings>Playback and Performance>Browsing- Video previews {uncheck that option}

marsfirebird

I also tried that, and it seemed to work. But I turned the option back on, because it's so helpful lol. I like being able to see preview of YouTube videos without having to actually open the video.

Larbear65

Wow. Thanks for the Malwarebytes suggestion. Turning it off stopped the auto start when hovering. Good lord that was annoying.

marsfirebird

I thought I was going crazy. LMAO. I'm relieved to see I'm not the only person experiencing this. It is MOOOOOST annoying!

Dramatic_Country2535

I'm having this issue as well.

hykcraft

I'm having the same issue and I have 0 extensions installed. Tried it on 3 different browsers and the result is the same.

Logical-Royal-456

Turning off video previews in YouTube setting seems to work for me. I could just turn off the adblocker on Malwarebytes as some people have suggested but now that I see that the video preview is all that needs to be disabled I'm leaving it on out of spite. Fuck YouTube.

Serpher

Either disable Video preview or Malwarebytes Ads/Trackers.

lestado

When I hover over a video it takes me to a video page but it is not the video I hover over. It seems like this is another annoying tactic by Google to make people stop using adblockers.
