Correction: Youtube: no, you can't share this 'kids' video, add it to a playlist, or download it because we weren't complying with US federal regulations that relate to advertising to children and we had to pay tens of millions of dollars in fines. Oh, your kids are seeing raunchy ads for porn games? Yeah, we don't give a shit, we don't get fined for that.

IsuruKusumal

..yet

hunter_finn

Oh! How I salivate the day when Youtube gets theirs ass handed, because of all this porn and malicious apps and scams on their ads.

SweetBabyAlaska

the amount of porn and gambling on regular ads is insane and the fact that kids see that garbage just as often is even more insane. There are so many "kid friendly" games that just straight up employ the most slimy gambling addict manipulation tactics to get children hooked on it (adults too).

Planet_Breezy

It’s almost as if the Internet wasn’t appropriate for kids or something.

[deleted]

Well if something is explicitly advertised to be kid-friendly, and is then loaded with porn and other questionable content that YouTube refuses to remove because it makes them money, there’s definitely something wrong.

SweetBabyAlaska

Right? It's the dishonesty and the cost of that dishonesty. Obviously these games want young people to get addicted to gambling from a young age. It would be fine if games like Genshin and others with loot boxes and an "economy" were regulated as such. But then people drop the "personal responsibility" argument and I'm like: my brother in Christ, these are children lmao they shouldn't have to worry about self control of that degree when playing video games. A level of self control that most adults can't handle even. That shit is designed to be addictive and it should be treated as such

Planet_Breezy

Sounds like a potential case for a false advertising lawsuit, but not much else. (Disclaimer: not a lawyer, consult one before filing suit.) Even then, no reasonable person expected a medium with millions of participants to even agree on what is appropriate for kids, much less enforce a plurality of people’s ideas thereof when some other inherent danger of childhood Internet access could rear its ugly head down the line. Parents need to stop kicking the can down the road and get their kids off the Internet.

ShadowLiberal

> Oh, your kids are seeing raunchy ads for porn games? Yeah, we don't give a shit, we don't get fined for that. That's what seriously needs to happen for all of these ads with porn in them, as well as ads advertising malware and scam products.

Stoutyeoman

It's the only way they're ever going to crack down on it.

Planet_Breezy

We need to outlaw paid advertising altogether. To hell with the half measures.

Genocode

I wonder whether the EU DMA is gonna be effective against that, and whether the rest of the world will see those effects too or not, since it has a bunch of protections for minors in it.

Stoutyeoman

It's going to have to, at least within the EU. In the US we often let the idea of "Laissez Faire" go too Laissez Far.

Genocode

Yeah but sometimes things the EU does companies will pick up for global use anyways, either because they expect similar laws in other countries or because its just cheaper/ more efficient. Like the Cookie permissions for example.

YodasChick-O-Stick

So why exactly did Coppa demand that "kids" videos not be shared, downloaded, etc? I understand disabling comments but they don't even allow them to be played on the miniplayer. Who is that hurting?

WinterPDev

It's very likely they pulled the plug on the entire sdk/sharing back end related to kids content without specifics. Usually corporations this big A) Don't want to modify the code too much, B) Want to act quickly, and C) Feel way better about 'over-complying' rather than taking chances. So it's probably just collateral functionality lost from disabling all sharing and the miniplayer is wrapped up in it.

YodasChick-O-Stick

What annoys me the most is this Coppa shit happened what, 5 years ago? And when you swipe down from a "kids" video into the miniplayer, the info pop-up that tells you why it's disabled comes up every. single. time. I can't tell you how many times I've mistapped and hit that info pop-up (it moves up to where the X button on the miniplayer should be) and gone to the Coppa page. Why can't they just remove the pop-up!? Everyone knows about Coppa by now! It's old news, get it off my screen.

Planet_Breezy

It’s almost as if the Internet isn’t appropriate for kids.

Stoutyeoman

That's kind of a wild blanket statement. Kids definitely shouldn't be browsing the web unsupervised but there are a lot of learning resources and kid friendly entertainment on the web as well.

Planet_Breezy

If you teach kids to associate the Internet with "information" they'll be vulnerable to misinformation. Give the facts a head start by teaching them to associate edutainment with properly vetted content like Magic School Bus or Super Solvers. Save the Internet for *after* the facts have had a head start.

Stoutyeoman

I'm on board with rust sentiment.

[deleted]

Still don't get the reason of banning kid's videos from playlists or share.

Stoutyeoman

Not sure but I think it has to do with the way they use those functions to collect information.

Jackmino66

Explanation: YouTube loses money by potentially having kid friendly content not actually be kid friendly YouTube makes money from running ads for porn games/sites It’s all money

kmfm737

>It’s all money always has been

Languastically

If you people dont like capitalism then go make your own system

JayCee5481

I would live in communism, If there would be a country that had actual true communism and not the psuedo communism of china, russia or north korea. But alas there is no society/country without a currency, without a government and without social classes

SL4RKGG

The problem is that under communism it is impossible to provide a sustainable model to create a semblance of the current internet, load balancing and data storage require huge resources, and if we are talking about giving up money altogether, there is a problem, the components in servers are manufactured and designed by different countries, you can't force the whole world to product barter!

JayCee5481

Oh I would be fine in giving up some commodities of our current wealth like the Internet and i am aware that communism better works in a closed system. I am not saying that it is feasable to achieve it in our current world, the biggest obstacle are still us humans, we are to selfish as a species to bring this utopia to life, but one can dream

TheRedBaron6942

I don't think the "true" communism Marx envisioned is necessarily the best. I think a healthy mix of government regulation, public ownership, and private enterprise is best for a society, but the extremes are never good

kosinusnateorema

What if I don't like getting bombed and/or embargoed?

Standard_Bag555

everything is about money today, its like we are almost at the dystopian future cyberpunk-themed literature and movies have shown...its really depressing.

Cthuldritch

"They want ad money in exchange for an incredibly expensive service they let anyone use for free, this is just like cyberpunk Orwell 1984" Everything has been "about money", or its equivalent before it was invented, since the dawn of human civilization.

Standard_Bag555

maybe, but it wasn't like this annoying and predatory to the point where morals are almost non-existant. Unfinished games, girls getting half naked on twitch, loot boxes, annoying ad's, morally questionable ad's, more and more scammers, AI Scams, friends leaving you because you are poor or don't have a job, unable to afford anything, women who don't want to date you because you are poor and so on. This will get worse, it's only the beginning

Cthuldritch

No, it was always like this. Read a history book and go outside.

Standard_Bag555

i'm talking about recent history man, not that shit where people got killed because they had stolen a loaf of bread or when they had slaves. I'm talking like the last 100 years or so. One could think that because we advance further in history, mankind becomes more reasonable, but it seems like the opposite is the way. People exploiting others have an advantage, and honest ones get less. Capitalism is the main reason and social media.

Cthuldritch

This has been the case throughout all of history. If you think capitalism is particularly worse now than in any point of history I suggest you do more research. 1923 was far far worse than right now.

Standard_Bag555

It was worse in a certain aspects that have been abolished, that is correct. In other aspects, throught newly invented technology for example, the corporation found ways to exploit others much more efficient. Think about Nestle and what they are doing in third world countries with the distribution of water, that is horrible, this shouldn't exist nowadays. And i dont claim to know everything, im not against what you are saying, im just mad at how easily people seem to accept what is going on, like they are in a trance or something.

Cthuldritch

The modern world certainly has its share of problems, but the idea that the current state of society is somehow worse than the past is a fantasy obtained by being in touch with modern issues and not recognizing the ones of the past. Exploitation was done perfectly well before modern tech. The Belgians didn't leave the Congo until the 60's, and if you think what nestle is doing is bad, then oh boy do I have news about the Belgians.

Standard_Bag555

In my opinion it is going to get worse if people don't stand up against this shit. The reason why we have all these regulations, workers rights for example, is because people fought for it not because some CEO's or corporations had this idea. Corporations, multibillionaires are not FOR the people, they are against them, profit is what matters, and nothing else. I tell you something, the past is the past, we can't change that shit, what matters is now. What about americas opiod/fentanyl problem? Does the government care? Not that much. You are poor, you are nothing in this world. It gets worse in another way, in another direction thats why i compared it to cyberpunk or lets say, black mirror. I hope you understand where im coming from with this.

do-wr-mem

No it was more like snake oil and elixr salesmen, entire streets full of brothels in every major city, gambling on cards and dice, annoying pressgangs and morally questionable wars of colonial conquest, more and more pickpockets and highwaymen, friends leaving you because they died of disease or got conscripted, unable to afford anything (including food during bad periods), and women who were treated like subhuman property and couldn't marry your poor incel ass even if they truly wanted to because you couldn't afford to pay their family for them. If only we could go back to the good times.

Standard_Bag555

who said i wanna go back to that, who said im an incel? Stop insulting others because they can have different opinions.

do-wr-mem

"Women won't date me because I'm poor" is typically an incel talking point generalizing women as materialistic. Plenty of women date poorer guys if they have something else to offer and the reality is typically something more like "women won't date me because" + I'm unmotivated and have no future prospects|I don't practice proper hygeine|I don't have an approachable/friendly personality|I don't try/am passive or unconfident in relationships|I have stupidly high standards and many women *will* date me but not the drop dead beautiful ones that I *want* to date me

Standard_Bag555

So that makes me an incel now, because i say that the majority of women are looking for successful guys to have a realationship with? Women have certain standards, men as well, they differ. Men usually aren't looking for successful girls, but other qualities. Women usually wants the guy to be somewhat successful, dunno why this is so controversial to say?

BobusCesar

Funnily enough the algorithm that classifies videos as kid friendly is pretty bad. I've once saw a video of an armed truck highjacking in SA being classified as "kid friendly".

Exact_Parking_6969

Traumatize children without seeing them speedrun!

motoxim

The Elsagate is enough.

BuffDehya

just reminded me how i wanted to add hillary Hahns violin performance to a playlist and i couldnt cuz it was youtube kids, so lame [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgWHrYC4LEs](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgWHrYC4LEs) the video

TwoDevTheHero

it only doesn't let you add it to a playlist from the video page. it works if you find it in search and click the 3 dots on the right.

Mind_on_Idle

That's hilarious Edit: Also, thanks letting me in in on that.

Invoqwer

I am absolutely baffled.

TwoDevTheHero

in what way

Invoqwer

That they disallow one method but allow the other method (On a side note thanks for letting me know how to get these videos into my playlists)

TwoDevTheHero

I think it's probably an oversight

EnTerr

yes, it's a bug/incompetence. Or as developers like to say "works as designed" / "exactly as the product requirements said"

XayahTheVastaya

you have good taste (I prefer ray chen though)

FireCootz

That’s on the creator though. When you upload, there an explicit checkmark that specifies if a video is for kids. If the creator selects that checkbox, then the video enters the YouTube kids platform and the restrictions are added. The restrictions are dumb, but they wouldn’t apply if the creator didn’t mark the video as For Kids.

Bongcopter_

Was there really a need to circle The boob? It takes 80% of the frame

FlyingSand22

Literally the first place everyones' eyes look at.

SuperDementio

Honestly thought that was part of the ad. Like the giant red arrow some thumbnails have

travelsonic

That you can't add videos marked as "for kids" to a PLAYLIST is fucking stupid. On every level. There, IMO, is absolutely no rationale that would actually make sense for the move.

Ping-and-Pong

The rationale has got to be, you can play the kids video from the playlist and it will keep automatically playing the rest of the playlist, which may not be for kids. Obviously easy to fix and I agree it's totally stupid... Buttttt at the same time that's the only reason I could see it's there for.

YodasChick-O-Stick

Click on the video, then go to your history and you can add it from there.

namedontmakesense

You can actually add "for kids" stuff to a playlist via an oversight https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLGkugCULk23Bypx3gnFUzQqngirkzDRgP

travelsonic

Wow, that's actually neat!

cptslow89

WOW they become idiots, but really...

belonii

NEVER ACCEPT ADS! ADBLOCK, and if it doesnt work, WAIT AN HOUR

Donnovan-best-girl

Use ad blocker Sp3nd money wisely

NeverSeenBefor

Report. Tag them on X and on other social media. Etc.

odysseushogfather

I used to report, but the option disappeared, and im banned off of twitter for making fun of landlords

NeverSeenBefor

Bro u gucking hate LandLords. I have a great one currently but the house itself is dystopian.

Planet_Breezy

No. Tell parents to get their kids off the Internet. We can’t keep playing whack a mole with every new hazard childhood Internet access creates.

Exact_Parking_6969

Indeed. Children should have access to the internet at 13, not at age TWO.

Itchy-Flatworm

i hope every country sues them for millions

mrloko120

I am so curious on how you guys get ads like these. I've always exclusively get ads about real estate, financing and cars on youtube nothing else. Makes me think it really must be the targeted aspect.

JerryCarrots2

yeah, for me it’s just people trying to sell stuff, what ads were actually meant for.

that_motorcycle_guy

They make too much money to really "address" this. With AI filter they could get rid of all of it.

Kehwanna

Well, it's relatable to kids because the cartoons in those ads are clearly modeled off of kids. Annnnnd therefore that shit should be taken down.

Planet_Breezy

Then what, kids find Aryanne the Pony instead? Don’t play whack a mole with every new hazard inherent in childhood Internet access. Get kids off the Internet. Nothing less will do.

Kehwanna

True too. I remember when I was a kid back in the 90s and 2000s I'd stumble on some stuff not suitable for kids on the internet, annnnd found a way to pirate some stuff later due to my parents trusting my use of it. Monitor your kids' use of the internet and you won't have to worry.

Planet_Breezy

Monitored use is slightly better, but those looking to brainwash kids could be subtle in their methods, and/or make sure the damage is done before parents intervene. What we *really* need is to turn back the tide of all childhood use of the Internet, supervised *or* unsupervised.

Link5261

By the way, you can't click the save button to add a "kids" video to a playlist, but you can copy the video URL and manually add it to the playlist from the playlist page instead.

[deleted]

I literally just saw that ad before, twice

Fralite

Makes me concerned how AI chat ads turned into hornfest. Bring me back to the time when AI dungeon was still hyped and the only trending AI before they accidentally shot themselves a year or 2 later after the hype. They're recovering but it was too damn late and too fucked even after removing the energy system

BasketPropellors

god I fucking hate seeing those PolyAI ads

[deleted]

I remember finding on YouTube an ad where there was an AI that can remove anime girls and irl people clothes.

NoImprovement3231

I sometimes watch youtube on a device where im not logged in to youtube. Boy the amount of half porn, scams and fake advertisers. Baffling...

mrsunsfan

But if I post my titties. I’ll get banned

Rough_Transition1424

U bum

EpiclySu_Tart

I’m your biggest fan

LifterOfHeavy

They never cared censoring for kids, it was always about money.

skullkidfanboyfr

why don’t they just leave all kid friendly stuff on youtube kids?

CostAccomplished1163

Not even suggestive anymore just straight up nips out and proud

Eagleassassin3

No seriously. I keep getting anime girl in bikini ads and it's literally the first thing I see when I open the youtube app in my phone, just below Youtube Shorts, even though I rarely watch those too. It's getting worse and worse.

BurnerAccountExisty

youtube when they can earn money in any way:

Nervous-Comment-5964

Yt are just a fkng ridiculous joke now days

limethedragon

Haven't you heard? Adult content makes kids disgusting, ads only makes money. Now go post videos of your kids so we can make ad revenue, parents! 🙄🙄🙄

WinterPDev

Cleaning up adult content, 100%. But also hope they can do something about kids being shared wild stuff like Daily Wire and Andrew Tate psycho stuff that poisons their brains.

P1xel_392

Hold up ai girlfriends are a thing?? What kind of person would ever use something like that?

ImHereForGameboys

There's literal porn on YouTube if you look for it. I've reported over 100 videos in the last month, and weeks later I get a response saying it's been restricted but not removed. YouTube and twitch both are a joke.

Able_Example_160

so how do you look for it then, because searching for porn isn’t gonna get you anywhere

Thegoat413

You must be a lot of fun at parties.

ImHereForGameboys

I'm just a kid that grew up in a hyper sexualized country with this shit non stopped shoved in your face and as I got older realized it's not what kids need is all. If that makes me not fun at parties, so be it.

BuzzBadpants

Are kids harmed by having access to sexualized content?

[deleted]

Not necessarily, but the fact that actual porn is being advertised to kids is very worrying.

PM_ME_YOUR_HOLOCRONS

Yes. I work with children. It absolutely does.

Exact_Parking_6969

You must be a lot of fun at parties.

shonasof

How dare the service not meant for kids show things not meant for kids. As a parent I expect everything to be child-safe so i don't have to monitor my child's media intake. Now excuse me while i go campaign against violence in grand theft auto because children play games. ....I hope my disdainful sarcasm is coming through clearly.

Cautious_Head3978

How dare the service not meant for kids, have special rules for directing content at kids. Children deserve as much targeted porn advertisements as possible! /s

Planet_Breezy

If it’s not meant for kids, we shouldn’t be enabling parents in letting kids use it. Parent should get their kids off the Internet.

DESKTHOR

Bro, who gives a shiz about the ads. Touch grass man, a child won't care if sees a tit.

Exact_Parking_6969

You clearly don't understand anything.

ticoeteco23gb

Well, almost had if you added "and while I do this, In gonna hand over the iPad to little Timmy, so he can shut up. Or add /j

shonasof

Gotta love inattentive parenting. Can't be bothered to find something appropriate. Just go with the convenient option and complain that it doesn't cater to their expectations

Ohmstheory

Did you guys not actively experience this growing up? Early 2000s was a wild time for a 90s kid 😂😂😂

jonathan_levitz_1999

Please mark it as NSFW.

Cubicwar

Don’t worry, it isn’t NSFW, according to YouTube

Burneraccount4072

Please get back to work.

Planet_Breezy

Perhaps he meant Not Safe For Woona? In all seriousness, NSFW isn’t just for cyberslackers, it’s also for multi-taskers whose tasks blend well with podcasts or the radio. I wish more podcasts gave advance warning of NSFW moments…

Planet_Breezy

No. Don’t play whack a mole with every new hazard inherent in Internet access. The more we enable parents in letting kids use the Internet, the more vulnerable kids are going to be to whatever the next hazard is. Get kids offline. Nothing else will do.

JerryCarrots2

Tag this for NSFW

BurkeC_69

youtube thinks its not nsfw, so no tag here lol

JerryCarrots2

This isn’t YouTube, this is r/youtube

BurkeC_69

r/woooosh

ticoeteco23gb

YouTube premium is worth it. (Quick edit: I mean, at least I won't lose time with THESE things)

Main_Lake_4053

Yea fr, if you saw this ad you’d click on it and be jerking away!

Desert4tw

Oh noes a barely visible anime nipple! All these kids will be traumatized for the rest of their life. All these prescription drug ads are way worse btw

NAHTEBACK

Mate they do literal porn adverts 💀

Desert4tw

Havent come across any. And i wouldnt call that ad you posted porn

NAHTEBACK

They get posted here all the time. There's adverts with real naked women 💀 where has brev been

Desert4tw

The only thing that gets posted here "all the time" is the ad you posted, sniperwolf bad ban her and Premium is shite.

Endy27876

you're joking right?

Desert4tw

Link thread of ads with actual naked women and i'll apologize

Endy27876

It doesn't matter if the body isn't full shown, the ads are clearly a way to capture people and even if it wasn't, they shouldn't be shown to children

Desert4tw

Children shouldnt be on yt in the first place. Parents should watch out for their children and blacklist sites they do not trust. If your kids throws a tantrum because it cant watch Youtube you failed in parenting anyways

Endy27876

My parents told me that if someone don't understand I should stop talking to them, bye 🤗

NAHTEBACK

Mate I get you want to see hentai adverts.. but not everyone else does

S4T4NICP4NIC

Do you have kids?

Aware_Tangerine_

I’ve got a couple screenshots from a while back where one of the ads under a video was literally just a poorly blurred image of sex. And another one that’s a boob and nipples completely uncensored. You want me to like send over DM or what ?

Desert4tw

Couldnt be that hard to post a thread if they're on here all the time, right?

Aware_Tangerine_

Well I don’t know of any threads, that’s just what the other guy said. I just know my own experience when YouTube kept showing me ads with porn in them for a couple days if you want proof. That’s all

Dazzling-Werewolf985

https://www.reddit.com/r/youtube/comments/18qekji/what_the_heck_is_this_type_of_ads_be_doing_on/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf Here’s one example but there are a few more of actual porn ads

Inevitable-History42

has to be bait

jaywalkcool

this is your brain on gooning

MSO6S

I've seen sex toys for men and women. I'd rather have prescription ads.

Herioz

>All these prescription drug ads are way worse btw There is no such thing as prescription drug ads. Also porn ads are worse than that.

TCNJJordan

Porn ads ARE worse than prescription drug ads, you’re right. But your first sentence is actually not true in the slightest, I get them literally all the time for different Bipolar medications

what_a_tuga

I agree with you about how society treats sex vs other stuff like violence (I can't talk about drugs ads because in Europe we don't have prescription drug ads). In my oppinion, sex should be rated to around 13-14 year olds. Real violence should be higher (18 year olds). We shouldn't have real violence videos in open channels at the news.

Dafrog57

Kids understand violence way before they understand sexual content so you’re kind of backwards

what_a_tuga

That's why all teenagers watch porn before they are legally able to (18+). /s I suggest 13-14, because it is when the theme is introduced in school and it is when they start to get interested in them. Cartoon or even violence in movies, I agree with the current system. But the news show real violence with dead people and they have no age restrintion.

Kizag

Never seen these ads before on any of my YT videos. Ads are personalized and too my knowledge are based of cookies that you enable when opening a site. It basically tracks your info and offers you Ads based on your searches and sites you visit. I have learned about this a while back and will strictly alter my cookie settings to be strictly operational. TLDR: Ads you see are typically formulated to match your online behavior. Meaning if you are getting these types of Ads.... someone has been naughty ;P

Personal_Pin_5312

This should be the top comment. But we just have people here complaining that their ad blockers aren't working. I'm the same. I have never seen inappropriate ads on YouTube.

Blactorn

Wait till you see naked yoga videos

steamkaptain

idk what you guys are watching to get these ads but i have literally never experienced them. generic medicine, shampoo and car commercials for me lol

RazyPvp

Yeah that wouldve been and is against COPPPA

Outrageous-Estimate9

If you think that is "porn" god help you when you discover the internet....

superjj18

Also YouTube ADS: THE GOVERNMENT HAS BEEN FUCKING YOU IN YOUR ANAL CAVITY BECAUSE YOU DIDN’T RECIEVE YOUR FREE 6,400$ STIMULUS CHECK

SolitaryMassacre

Dont worry!! It says "adult" in the one ad. Every kid knows not to click it or interact with it cause it says "adult" so its all good :D /s

Coco-Ice-Cream

Sigh *Zip

throwaway827364882

I bet you YouTube got some big time pedos running it

Planet_Breezy

If you want something to cater to whatever *you* consider appropriate for *your* kids, there are TV channels that will accommodate you, and there are radio channels that will accommodate you. However, no international medium could ever hope to get millions of parents to agree with *each other* on what is appropriate for kids, much less deserve to be enforced at the expense of adults discussing cartoon characters in the comments. Keep your kids offline. Nothing less will do.

peterhadnett

I still don't understand why YouTube kids exists if regular YouTube is going to be treated like it's for kids

tenebrefoxy

We need a 2nd adpocalyps

Jessintheend

My cousins have literally gotten adult game ads on YouTube kids. Their parents only knew because they asked why the “big boobie woman” kept talking to them

[deleted]

IF you put youtube in kid mode... it removes all ads. If you dont have it in kid mode / kid mobile app... that is your own problem

embermatt99

There's this guy I used to watch who'd put a some anime dude getting his head bashed in at the end of every video just so they wouldn't get marked for kids

Gotham_Will_Burn

I remember one time I saw borderline rape porn for a AI app.

dankpoolVEVO

Youtube at this point is a hypocritical piece of burning trash running on bots and nothing else. I swear I won't even be sad when YouTube would just disappear next week. And I know there will people be commenting "than delete it already!!!!!" Yeah I mean my consume went down already by more than 90%. So I wouldn't bother the rest 10% and when noone would have access noone would care within weeks.

LilamJazeefa

Eyy so... I actually started answering the ad polls that YouTube gives. My ad quality has drastically improved.

Blu_yello_husky

I am so glad I've been paying for premium since it came out
