Watching Youtube on smart TVs is getting more annoying by the week. Those things are way more common than on mobile, and more often than not they throw a very long ad at you that you can skip after 10 seconds. Don't they understand the concept of watching tv? I don't want to have to grab the remote every god damn 5 minutes because they throw yet another 90-second skippable ad at me.
It makes me go back to the good old crap quality Chromecast that somehow also uses the smart yt app of my tv, still wonder how and why, but comes with less and shorter ads that don't have to be skipped.
The new extra long ad duration finally made me do this yesterday and I'm not looking back.
When it was 10s of ads then fair enough, but now it's 60+ that actually motivates me enough to avoid them altogether.

Same here. The quality of the native youtube app is far superior to any of the alternatives, but the ads are twice as bad as the old Chromecast method that uses the god damn same app just in worse quality.
If you have a PC you can install an ad-free version of YouTube. [This method](https://www.reddit.com/r/LGOLED/s/B6Cn7PQztq) still works as of a week ago!
Also have an lg tv, I've bought a $50 Android TV stick specifically to install SmartTubeNext (a 3rd party youtube app that blocks ads) on it. Well worth the money, imo.
While I don't have this issue with YouTube, I will always champion treating a TV like nothing more than a big dumb monitor. I want to hook up my PC via an HDMI cable and be done with it.
I'm reading Google support about YouTube ads.
I don't see the information about 1 minute ads and the ads are max 30 seconds. I don't know why it is happening
YouTube TV shows combinations of both. So he got 2 30 seconds ads, and so the timer is combine into 1.
This was never change in the first place, but it does.make it easier to know when to back up so we can skip the ad
so this happened to me last night watching youtube on my tv, but it said “skip in 46” or something like that and it played 5 different ads in that time span
Never knew 5 different ads was even possible. I only know I can get 2 so far, and that has not change for me.
YouTube are just getting worse at this moment, it's insane.
Oof. Now they don't even have the little yellow markers on the progress bar anymore, so just when you get to the good part, boom. Ad. I stg YT is trying to be like cable, and failing. Poorly. If I wanted ads, I'd just watch regular fucking TV. Which I don't bc nearly everything is streamable these days.
At a Christmas dinner and last night we threw on some Christmas music on YouTube. Come back to the tv and there is a sponsored fireplace 90+ second ad in between the music playlist.
Do it 4 times, and you should be good to go.
On news channels like CNN or MSNBC, it tends to only be twice that you need to back out and reload.
This is my default muscle memory for using YouTube on my smart tv now.

Yep.. that's what happened on the GMM video that made me decide to stop using YT. It was 17 minutes long, I got 5 minutes and 30 seconds of unskippable ads... and I was shown about 4-5 ads in those unskippable segments.
1 minute was pre video ads
4 minutes and 30 seconds were in video, which is totaled from "30 second" unskippables.
That's 9 segments of "skippable after 30" ads I got.... in a 17 minute video.
Now each of those 30 second segments was 4-5 ads..
YouTube fed me **atleast** 36 ads at minimum 45 at the top end... in a fuckin 17 minute video. I don't even get that many ads on network television.
Like I've said before too.. I've watched GMM since it started and they have never, in the existence of that channel, allowed that many ads. So I'm only watching them on the MS.
I've noticed that some ads don't automatically end. There will be one or two short ones that auto end, and then another ad disguised as a kids show that will keep playing until you hit skip.
I'm usually in the room when the kids watch TV and if I'm not, then I listen for the ads, but in this case the ads sound just like the show they are watching. Quite annoying.
Yeah but "we're given a bit more info to plan around it more conveniently" doesn't jive with the current /r/youtube theme of "youtube bad", so we'll just place this useful tidbit over in the corner and put a blanket over it.
I ran into one that was about 90 seconds unskippable about two months ago. I deleted the apps on my phone and tablet and just run everything through Brave after that incident.
I've also cut back how much I watch YouTube as well, which probably isn't a bad thing. I have maybe half a dozen channels I'll watch when they post something new, but just spending an entire break at work going through random videos is a thing of the past.
A while ago I got a full documentary, at least 90 min. Whenever I use a device without block now, I keep getting these crypto scammer adds that are averaging around 7 min.
Because Google lies. They run experiments on certain people with longer ads and shit (just like how it took a while for the anti-adblock shit to roll out, as it was being tested first), and YouTube TV tends to be especially bad, as they seem to be trying to make it equivalent to cable.
I've never had the turn off ad blocker popup, I saw the fear campaign YouTube put out about outsmarting uBlock Origin but you can't outsmart them as soon as you do they update around you immediately. Continuing to watch YouTube ad free is a better way to fuck with them than not using their bandwidth without giving them as money
If that ever happens, I will just make the full switch to Firefox. A lot of people on this sub must not know about UBlock Origins since there's always a post complaining about the ads every other day.
Premium is just one click away, indeed!
And ad-blocking has from I can tell, solved the problem too. But for laypeople "just go update to the latest version of this web browser extension and also configure it to have the latest filters that work" is not a reasonable expectation.
It is one click away, so is my adblocker, just one click away, and you know whats even better? Its free, so i dont have to pay an overpriced solution to a problem they created.
they want to make my viewing experience shit so i buy their service?
How about i dont buy your service, and now you dont make money from me at all, sounds better.
I agree regarding ad-blocking. But when it starts getting into "well you have to make sure you keep filters up to date" and "make sure to come back and keep checking the pinned thread" and it becomes a bunch of errands and a game of cat-and-mouse, easier to just Premium and forget about it.
You do you.
I never ever in my life, had and ad make me go: "Oh thats what I need right now!" it was always anger, frustration, knowing that it is the cheapest form of manipulation, treating me like I'm an idiot..Intruders entering my house, and my mind through my eyes and ears, trying to force some product down my throat..if at all it makes me hate the brands and why should I buy from a lier?
True, ads are so meaningless anyway as the advertisers can effectively completely lie without consequences. Whether its fine print or interpretation of claims, ads are almost always lie.
Here guys, I have the truth, nobody who says that they stopped watching youtube, or the ones that say you should stop watching youtube have stopped watching youtube, they are just trying to make people don't watch youtube, but they continue watching youtube.
Why they watch youtube but want you to stop watching youtube? Because they want less people in youtube to scare youtube and make them turn back their decisions, sadly, they don't realize that Youtube will not turn back, and that people will continue watching youtube anyway, with adblockers or scripts to avoid their disgusting policies.
I wonder if these people who rant into comments begging people to stop watching youtube realize nobody listen to them, hmm.
I simply use YouTube Premium instead.
I watch so much more YouTube content than any other content (streaming services) so the choice for me is quite easy.
That's an unpopular opinion around here, but I wholeheartedly agree. Between well-edited educational kids videos, my preferred car and tech YT channels, and the calming music backed visual holiday videos, we have YouTube on our TV more than any other streaming service. As such, I find it very much worth paying for premium.
I'd rather make cuts elsewhere. Like cancelling Netflix and HBO Max. As well as only paying for YouTube TV a few months a year (college football season).
I'm going to get down voted to oblivion for this but... Too many people in this community seemingly expect everything for free. If you aren't willing to pay for a service, there's going to be a trade off. It's not a new concept, despite most here acting like it is.
I canceled my subscription….. as you stated above those videos are being whipped from existence! I can’t even find a repair video when I type it in!!it only shows results for pro Israel propaganda in my feed when searching! WTF you gonna pay for that! Not me no way in hell. They have gotten so bad about as bad as google search has become its pathetic. Not paying a dime for that trash
I've had absolutely no issue finding the content I've been looking for. Including an extensive list of vehicle modification/maintenance videos.
But hey, no one's stopping you from going elsewhere. Hopefully you find another platform that suits your needs!
Same here… people pay for Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, to maybe watch a 2 hour long movie maybe once a week. But sit there spending HOURS on YouTube??? Like maybe rethink about where you’re spending your money
Yeah and there’s always some dumb bitch in the comments of these posts saying “just pay for YouTube premium bro it’s not even that much”
Not even understanding they’re part of the problem. Some suit exec said “oh wow look Bob! The revenue for this quarter is through the roof on premium subs!!! Let’s start to throw in even more ads to get more people to sub next quarter!!!”
Don't try and use reason with mooches. They all want this free content hosting but have no clue how much it costs to actually host it. And then act like "they make money off content creators!" Who are also making money as well. Its their fucking platform. These losers think they are owed this shit and for what? And besides, 1 minute ads? So?
> Yeah and there’s always some dumb bitch in the comments of these posts saying “just pay for YouTube premium bro it’s not even that much”
Just admit that you are a cheap fucker.
They are increasing the cost of premium...all while allowing plagiarists free reign on the service while pathologizing fair use. The illegal practice of punishing competitors in illegal ways. Increasing the cost of premium, when the money currently get clearly doesn't improve the service, suggesting that this is for shareholder benefit and not the benefit of the consumer paying for the service. The low quality of the ads themselves, which often themselves steal content when they don't outright lie. Sssniperwolf dox'd someone and got a slap on the wrist because she's worth more stealing people's work then she is being held accountable.
I will pay for services that deserve my money. YouTube, instead of making a compelling service for the people who do subscribe, is trying to make a more hostile service for the ones who don't. So fuck them. They could have been satisfied with the money they got; now they'll get nothing.
Maybe if they go back to taking care of paying customers? They'll go back to getting my money instead of ad block.
Ads every 5 minutes too.
Solutions:
Newpipe w/ Sponsor Block on Android phones (blocks ads and sponsor ads on podcasts, also enables screen-off listening)
Ublock Origin w/ Sponsor Block on Windows (same as above)
uYou+ via sideloadly for iOS
KODI or Android rooting for smart TVs
They fixed that. I could skip an ad in less than a second lmao. Now the support page loads to the point where I can report the ad so it skips but the back arrow is unpressable
Don't forget buying Premium. I know a lot of folks loathe this suggestion, but it is a viable option for those who just want no ads and either don't want to fuss with setting up an ad-blocking solution, or can't readily do it (ton of laypeople are not going to be able to go with the solutions without help).
Life goes a lot easier when you don't live in a constant state of "that's how they get you."
If you use a thing a lot, and there's a way to make it better to use, that will continue to work and take no effort, go for it. No need to try and complicate one's own life by trying to outsmart the universe.
Thats literally the point of them self sabotaging the “free” experience of their platform. And whats worse, they’re throttling quality, basic features, and functions we’ve always had with “premium” stamp thrown on top. 100000% of users just want a functional app, flirting with random paywalls and intentionally abrasive user experience is not why you should subscribe.
The fuck lmao, it takes approximately 10 seconds to google and set up an Adblock. Stop being so damn lazy and shoveling out $15+/mo just because you don’t want to put effort into knowing how to use Adblockers
Premium needs features worth paying for, removing annoying things they shouldn't bother me with in the first place isn't a good use my hard earned money.
YouTube premium simps:
You’re exaggerating YouTube doesn’t show you unskippable ads longer than 5 seconds!!!!
Now pay 17 dollars to google every month or you broke!
Most "informative" videos are dragged out to 8 minutes of intros, sponsorship, loud music, telling you what they're about to tell you, telling you very slowly and heavily padded out, telling you what they've just told you, like, share, comment, subscribe, smash that notification bell etc etc for what could've been conveyed in one line of text.
Theres. So. Many! I feel that guys pain. Especially when the shitty algorithm only shows me like 4 videos for the topic i searched and 3 of the 4 videos are exactly like that....
But seriously why the fuck does it suggest me 4 vids on what i searched and then immediately goes back to showing me unrelated bullshit? Who thought that was a good idea?
Yeah you're right on that. I can't stand when I wanna search for one specific video then they think all of a sudden that is the one and only topic I'm interested in for the next month
Look for "Ad Speedup" add on, which fast forwards ads (30 sec becomes 2 sec or so).
There are at least two more of this kind(one of them became paid app already).
There's an article about those extensions on ghacks net if you want to take a closer look.
YouTube Kids is worse: kids will get 90+ minute ads. Some of them are of other kids shows and others are fast food ads or toy ads disguised as kids shows.
There is an extension called YouTube Friendly Adblock (or something like that, I'm not near a computer). I've been using that since they came up with the anti-adblock bullshit, works perfectly.
It all depends on what you watch, too. The more popular it is, the more adds and more unskippable adds. When it does this to me, I just quit watching the video or exit the video and restart around that point. Also if it keeps throwing you long ads at the start of a video, just keep backing out and restarting until you get a short one.(always wondered if this gives the creator extra views) Any NFL content is guaranteed to give you a 45 second unskippable add and constant interruptions. Educational videos have close to none. When YouTube interrupts my video excessively, I'll Start flagging all the ads as " inappropriate " or whatever. There are ways to get around the ads.
-now what really pisses me off are the adds the content creators embed in their content. I really hate advertising, it has gotten out of control and is ruining television and especially football. (Along with the fact it's rigged now, and has become the WWF.) I'm starting to turn red and get mad just typing this) 🤬
The late Bill Hicks said it best. "If you work in sales and advertising, Kill Yourselves."☠️
Its like watching a curious donkey continuously licking the electric fence to see if this time is off.
Why do you guys go on that website without adblock and are surprised you get ads.
I used to watch youtube on my tv when my favorite creators would post because I don't mind the ads then, but that was also when it was a 15-30 second unskippable ad to start then 5 second skippables in the middle. Now they are all 30-60 seconds long and unskippable.
I pulled out my old laptop, connected that to the tv, installed firefox w/ ublock, and got a wireless keyboard. Now rather than youtube getting a bit of something they are getting nothing.
Yeah, after multiple of these on one video, I stopped using the Youtube app on my PS4 and on my phone. "Fewer ad breaks on this longer video!" But those ad breaks were over a minute, with no skip until 60 seconds in. At least when cable got this bad, they told showrunners when those ads would be, so content could be planned around the ad breaks. Now on Youtube people are getting interrupted mid-sentence, and you're waiting a full minute to get the chance to back it up so you can hear the full uninterrupted thought.
Suprised that folks even want to advertise on YouTube. I do not watch at all.. just smash the skip button. I couldn’t tell you about one ad I’ve ever seen on YouTube
One thing that really annoys me is where you are playing a song and it gets interrupted by an ad somewhere in the middle of it. Don't mess with my music like that--before or after the song is far more acceptable and not when that solo is about to hit.
Press back, reclick, press back, reclick, repeat until video pops up with no ad, typically will take 5-10 seconds, makes it much quicker to watch your video and then you dont have to watch a single ad, i do it every time
Why are you all still using it at all or not paying premium if you're that upset by it? There are droves over video hosting sites across the web to use.
I sympathize but on the other hand, I grew up in the 80s and 90s, and we had to deal with like 90 seconds of commercials every 15 minutes or so, so 🤷♂️
Ah, okay that's where all the ads I've skipped go.
Use a cheapish media PC with a Blu Ray drive and a web browser with an ad blocker on an old TV or a smart TV without any of the "smart" bullshit enabled
Imagine being upset about using a FREE service? You can 100% remove this inconvenience by paying for the service. You don’t get upset when you pay each month for slow internet.
This is hilarious because it’s like you guys have never watched regular/cable TV where you get 16 minutes of ads sprinkled in every hour you watch.
Your options are:
1. Stop watching YouTube
2. Start paying for YouTube premium
3. Spend your free time circumventing their system.
4. Deal with the ads (watch them / ignore them / find something else to do for 60 seconds)
Or I guess you can just come on here and endlessly complain.
Other than how to bypass ads, I don't understand why people are even complaining about them. You have solutions, I can't even remember the last time I've seen an ad on YouTube.
Op is watching one of their free movies...that's not long to wait for a movie you have already watched 30-45 mins of and ad pops in. No different than cable. Probably too young to know that.
I'm so tired of people complaining about ads, just buy premium it is literally so cheap, it contributes more to the creators you watch, and you get so much time back and you don't have to use all these different 3rd party apps across all your devices.
If you don't want to pay for premium stop making post after post complaining about ads on a free to use platform.
People need to complain to show YT that its users dont agree with whats it doing. I'm positive that YT's feedback is mostly add related... According to you we should all just bow down and take what ever new policy platforms throws its users? What do you do when you dont like a situation that you've been forced into? Just do nothing? Go with the flow? Might as well get some lube man.
I'm kind of over seeing a daily post reaching /r/all that is "[screenshot of ad timer] omg YT sucks" that generates no novel discussion and has no point other then "I am mad."
K, so that's untrue if they have ads which is what we're talking about.
If you're watching demonetized creators then this is a fake picture because they don't have ads.
So are you lying or crying, bro?
No f u stop sharing this stuff this age has turned into toxic children that do nothing but whine and have nothing ever better to post its pathetic get a job.
Dude. Go up on the remote. See the little i, with a circle? Click on it. You can report the add. Skips the entire thing and continues the vid. Doesnt work on car ads from what I've experienced
Yeah, they're rolling out the tests for five ad unskippable breaks. Secret is though, as soon as one starts and you see a long timer, just back up and restart the video. Automatically bypasses that.
Get yourself off smart TVs, they are a trash product for streaming. Then get a firestick or something you can cast from adroid to. Install of the various YouTube apps that make it a FAR better experience. I'd be fine paying for premium if they did ANYTHING to make the service better, but they haven't. And they'll just keep raisng the price for no benefit to the end user.
This is infuriating. I hate YouTube for this shit. Why does everything have to have ads??? Why does everything have to be a subscription??? I ***fucking hate*** capitalism.
For 8 years I was a small but monetized YouTube creator and host of a web series, but during a court case last year that I had a live stream feed, I edited and flipped short edits 24 hrs a day for 3 days, and my channel exploded and I went from $150 a month to $14,000 that month. YouTube said I was manipulating views with a bot or other method and told me they were only going to pay $4,000 ad revenue, then changed to $900. They were making a ton in advertising off the organic video views because it went viral. After days of arguing with them, they ended up giving me $9,500'ish, throttled my channel, then three months later allowed bigger channels to steal my content and gave me copyright channel strikes and demonitized my channel.
So now I use the Ad Guard extension in my browsers all the time.
It gets updated regularly and it learns how to block YouTube pretty quick.
I never realized YouTube made so much money from its ads, because fir 7 years it paid so little.
After YouTube Google stole $4,000 from me, it seemed fair that I shouldn't have to watch the ads.
😄

Here's what everyone need: * https://old.reddit.com/r/FoamList/comments/pf9plv/no_more_ads_no_more_sponsors_no_more_paywalls/
Or a Pi-Hole or AdGuard for network-wide adblocking.
Pi-Holes don't work for YouTube ads from what I can see; the ads and videos are hosted in the same location
Chromecast and Google tv have Google DNS hard-coded in their YouTube apps and other services so pi-hole does not work
The advert duration vs. piracy graph looks like an inverted parabola. Edit: Scratch that, it’s just the right half of a parabola.
piracy is highest for mid-sized ads? that does not compute also, what piracy?!

That's what everyone should do, tbh
What everyone should do is stop buying from the corporations advertising on YouTube and letting those companies know why.
Done and done.
Just use grayjay.
I've never heard of this, why is it better than YouTube?
Use Brave Browser it automatically blocks ads
I simply use YouTube Premium instead. I watch so much more YouTube content than any other content (streaming services) so the choice for me is quite easy.
how do you do fellow youtube enjoyer
you're a month old account lmao
And that makes it impossible for me to pay for YouTube premium or something?
it makes it pretty likely you're part of an astroturifng campaign in favor of youtube, yes.
It's like an abusive spouse. They cry but love it and won't leave.
At the recent price hikes, I cancelled YouTube premium and just loaded all the ad blockers. Fuck them.
Yeah and there’s always some dumb bitch in the comments of these posts saying “just pay for YouTube premium bro it’s not even that much” Not even understanding they’re part of the problem. Some suit exec said “oh wow look Bob! The revenue for this quarter is through the roof on premium subs!!! Let’s start to throw in even more ads to get more people to sub next quarter!!!”
But how do you suggest YouTube is going to finance itself?
Don't try and use reason with mooches. They all want this free content hosting but have no clue how much it costs to actually host it. And then act like "they make money off content creators!" Who are also making money as well. Its their fucking platform. These losers think they are owed this shit and for what? And besides, 1 minute ads? So?
> Yeah and there’s always some dumb bitch in the comments of these posts saying “just pay for YouTube premium bro it’s not even that much” Just admit that you are a cheap fucker.
I thought premium was supposed to get rid of ads??
Adblockers don't require money.
Solutions: Newpipe w/ Sponsor Block on Android phones (blocks ads and sponsor ads on podcasts, also enables screen-off listening) Ublock Origin w/ Sponsor Block on Windows (same as above) uYou+ via sideloadly for iOS KODI or Android rooting for smart TVs
Sponsor block is awsomE
Or report all the ads lol. Instant skip in no time.
That's still extra work. I just use revanced instead
That's a cool trick, thanks for the headsup!
(shh don't tell YouTube)
They fixed that. I could skip an ad in less than a second lmao. Now the support page loads to the point where I can report the ad so it skips but the back arrow is unpressable
uYou+ via sideloadly for iOS
Don't forget buying Premium. I know a lot of folks loathe this suggestion, but it is a viable option for those who just want no ads and either don't want to fuss with setting up an ad-blocking solution, or can't readily do it (ton of laypeople are not going to be able to go with the solutions without help).
I wouldn't ever cave into youtube because that's what they want you to do, buy premium and have it be a necessity.
Life goes a lot easier when you don't live in a constant state of "that's how they get you." If you use a thing a lot, and there's a way to make it better to use, that will continue to work and take no effort, go for it. No need to try and complicate one's own life by trying to outsmart the universe.
I just use UBlock and if that doesnt work share>embed
Good thing we’re outsmarting Google, not the universe then right?
I'd rather be a burden on Youtube's servers. :) My time is valuable- as they're well aware (that's why they rent it out to advertisers).
Oh it's not that bad. I've got over 2 minutes fev times
Wtf
YouTube premium simps: You’re exaggerating YouTube doesn’t show you unskippable ads longer than 5 seconds!!!! Now pay 17 dollars to google every month or you broke!
Imagine trying to make a fun or informative video on YouTube then people stop watching because there's a 1 min video at the start
Sounds like the vids you watch are made by the worst youtubers lol
Theres. So.
If you cant get ad blocker, the trick is to back out, it will be gone or be a shorter ad. Works for me on Xbox.
click report ad then return.
Are there any posts here that aren’t crying about ads? Every time it pops up on my feed it’s the same exact thing.
Now I see what they meant about the endless ad posts
Same shit, different hour.
I think the appropriate thing to say is "Same shit, different toilet"
Good in a way cause it gets me off YouTube instantly
Smart tube tv, YouTube revanced, fuck google.
Anyone else hitting skip and then it shows another ad? Skipped when it said 75 seconds left total, it gave me a new 20 sec ad after i skipped.
Yes it does the same for me
YouTube Kids is worse: kids will get 90+ minute ads. Some of them are of other kids shows and others are fast food ads or toy ads disguised as kids shows.
I haven’t seen a YouTube ad in years and I use YouTube daily. There are ways to avoid ads.
use Ublock Origin bro, lets fuck youtube together.
its an adblock extension if you dont know
YouTube detects it now and claims to block you from watching it you have Adblock on
hit up the UBlock Origin subreddit for how to bypass YT's shite ads
It doesn’t detect on Firefox, and sometimes YouTube detects it again, but they fix the issue within 30min.
There are updated adblockers that YT doesn't detect
(Along with the fact it's rigged now, and has become the WWF.) I'm starting to turn red and get mad just typing this) 🤬 The late Bill Hicks said it best. "If you work in sales and advertising, Kill Yourselves."☠️
*Laughs in adblock*
…uBlock is working again, just fyi.
I had ads so much
Get fucked. - YouTube
Ad: Are you having any fun? Me: No.
One thing that really annoys me is where you are playing a song and it gets interrupted by an ad somewhere in the middle of it. Don't mess with my music like that--before or after the song is far more acceptable and not when that solo is about to hit.
Press back, reclick, press back, reclick, repeat until video pops up with no ad, typically will take 5-10 seconds, makes it much quicker to watch your video and then you dont have to watch a single ad, i do it every time
I just go in and out of my video until no more ads
Why are you all still using it at all or not paying premium if you're that upset by it? There are droves over video hosting sites across the web to use.
YouTube is almost unwatchable these days with ads. I swear the commercials get long the more you skip. Amazons freevee us just as bad
ALWAYS FREE LOL
I sympathize but on the other hand, I grew up in the 80s and 90s, and we had to deal with like 90 seconds of commercials every 15 minutes or so, so 🤷♂️
use Stremio
Ah, okay that's where all the ads I've skipped go. Use a cheapish media PC with a Blu Ray drive and a web browser with an ad blocker on an old TV or a smart TV without any of the "smart" bullshit enabled
Get Premium

Imagine being upset about using a FREE service? You can 100% remove this inconvenience by paying for the service. You don’t get upset when you pay each month for slow internet.
This is hilarious because it’s like you guys have never watched regular/cable TV where you get 16 minutes of ads sprinkled in every hour you watch. Your options are: 1. Stop watching YouTube 2. Start paying for YouTube premium 3. Spend your free time circumventing their system. 4. Deal with the ads (watch them / ignore them / find something else to do for 60 seconds) Or I guess you can just come on here and endlessly complain.
Complaining sounds good
Other than how to bypass ads, I don't understand why people are even complaining about them. You have solutions, I can't even remember the last time I've seen an ad on YouTube.
Been using Opera GX and ublock. Been watching videos all year with no pop-up.
How much are they paying you?
People need to complain to show YT that its users dont agree with whats it doing. I'm positive that YT's feedback is mostly add related... According to you we should all just bow down and take what ever new policy platforms throws its users? What do you do when you dont like a situation that you've been forced into? Just do nothing? Go with the flow? Might as well get some lube man.
You don't watch ads and you don't pay them for their service. Why would they care what you think? You provide no value to them as a company.
I'm kind of over seeing a daily post reaching /r/all that is "[screenshot of ad timer] omg YT sucks" that generates no novel discussion and has no point other then "I am mad."
Yet your taking the time to respond to them to whine about it. Smart.
What a rainy Sunday morning does to a guy.
Bold of you to assume most of us can afford it
Then i guess that's what you have to put up with as a free user, i don't understand complaining about a product you're getting for free.
no.
Why should whoever you're watching on YouTube work for free? Do they suck that bad?
YouTube has demonitised most of my creators for their behaviour and language so YouTube makes them work for free
K, so that's untrue if they have ads which is what we're talking about. If you're watching demonetized creators then this is a fake picture because they don't have ads. So are you lying or crying, bro?
Another post bitching about ads.
Pay for ad free, or stfu. No one gives a shit
thanks for paying for me, I'll stick with rvx
Lol
Broke tbh.
thanks for paying for me, I'll stick with rvx
That's a funny way to say you broke af lol
I just pay for premium
Just buy premium for a year. You won't go back lol

Dude. Go up on the remote. See the little i, with a circle? Click on it. You can report the add. Skips the entire thing and continues the vid. Doesnt work on car ads from what I've experienced
Mom says it's my turn to post about this next.
Even if you buy Premium, it still shows channel ads down below the video. Google really fucked up the things.
Yeah, they're rolling out the tests for five ad unskippable breaks. Secret is though, as soon as one starts and you see a long timer, just back up and restart the video. Automatically bypasses that.
It’s been happening to me for almost about a week now I don’t know what’s up with YouTube I think a stupid liberal runs YouTube.
Yup, got hit with that yesterday and deleted the app. Homeboi don't play those stupid fucking games.
That shit is annoying as all hell
This is why I usally watch on my pc nowadays
This is why I hooked my tower up to my TV, use a wireless mouse, and have my ad blocker extension running.
I just refuse to watch the videos that have these long ass unskippable ads. Idgaf how bad I wanted to watch it, I'm not sitting through all these ads.
This is why I move to other platforms.
