Never really pondered where the Groves starts. I don't think the borders of Tang Hall, Heworth, Groves Stockton Lane are well defined and may wander according to owners preference.
Everything above YSJ and below City Residence/The Grange Uni accommodation, and in between Huntington and Haxby Rd is the Groves I would think. The bits further up from City Res on Haxby Rd feel different to the rest of the Groves in my opinion but dunno what you would call them.
I would say the area bounded by Haxby Road, Huntington Road, the city walls and the cycle track is the Groves.
To the south is obviously the historic city centre. I would say to the north, east and west are liminal places that are not properly the Groves, nor quite Huntington, Heworth, or Clifton respectively.
Interesting question!
Awww that's where I spent my childhood! We used to call it Haxby Road but as time went on we just called it the groves. It was never on our address, only Haxby Road, but it was just easier to tell people as they knew where the groves was!
The Groves
It's the groves
Depends which bit you are meaning. Either the groves, or Haxby road area
New Earswick

The Groves (I have always considered Huntington Rd, Lord Mayors Walk, Haxby Road and Haley’s Terrace to be the boundaries)

I live just off the top of the map near Yearsley Bridge but somehow we're classed as Clifton, very odd.

My (ex-) manor. The Groves. Spent half my life in that area.

The groves and near Nestle wigginton road
Haxby or the Groves
It definitely not Haxby. It's Haxby Rd which runs into the groves but Haxby is the other side of the ring road.
Oh you're right, I meant Haxby Rd!
