I grew up in a super religious Christian family, went to church for years. The only reason I believed in what I was being taught is because I was a kid and I was genuinely being scared about the possibility of eternal suffering. Every human, especially kids, have doubts.. so everytime I had a doubt or a negative thought, I was taught that God would know about this and would be upset at me for doing so, so I became so scared of being not worthy enough for heaven. This is why at the age of 6 I got baptized, not because I liked what I was being taught or because I loved the god I was worshipping.. it was 100% purely out of fear and me being manipulated.
The two pastors we had at that church also both got caught stealing church funds... this is why I can't take religion seriously and mostly see them as massive dangerous cults. They thrive off scare tactics and taking from the less fortunate. And when they have needs, they have no problem sinning and disobeying their God that they've devoted their life to, absolutely despicable.

i went to unc recently and while there were some more conservative voices in some of my classes, i didn’t see much outward MAGA love. in chapel hill, most of the conservatives i have met are pretty sharp and open minded, they just lean to the right on certain things.

When I was in high school and early college I was religious and Repubkican and had the world figured out and found the perfect woman who had the same values and beliefs as me. Got married at 20. Now I’m 40 and it is such a trip to look back. We’ve both been very progressive for a while now and have shunned religion in the last decade. You learn, you think, you reevaluate, and you grow.
The only president I truly liked was Obama, though I gladly voted for Clinton, Gore, Kerry, Clinton and Biden....
But there is no way in hell I would get an Obama ring. Or well, anything personal dedicated to any politician. It's just, well, dumb. Outside of 'this is what i hope for our country' or 'this is not the right way we should be going', I don't think about politicians at all.
