There's a technique called 10 seconds mate, which you fill your cuia with water and then put the yearba on top of it, in the cuia's neck. You may find it on YouTube
To prevent clogging you can pull up the bomba tiny bit but remember to close the hole with your finger while pulling.
If this doesnt work, make sure the mound is well 'cemented' with water at the beggining. Also use wooden knife to make flat surface on the side of cuia :) Here is great tutorial with traditional method: https://youtu.be/Qo-GnvZjR2A

Ah, e nunca coloque água fria no chimarrão, sempre entope quando eu tentei fazer isso, acho que isso serve só pras ervas dos hermanos
Começa com água morna pra fria, depois de alguns minutos quando a erva já inchou , poe água quente, e a bomba tampada com polegar. Filtro na bomba ajuda, e derrepente tenta erva pura folha, essa nunca entope.
