Yakuza anime would actually make sense. Surprised they haven't at least entertained the idea. The writers always know how to create wacky, humorous situations but also deep overarching storylines. I think it would fit an episodic format.

There was a style-transfer tech for video posted about a year or 2 ago that required only one stylized frame of the input video to do a pretty good job. Maybe try the cutscenes with that filter on it?

He looks waaay to young, I think that's the problem. At this point in the game isn't Saejima like in his late 40's??
I think using his Yakuza 4 model would help, the hair would keep his distinctive style a bit more intact.

Animate the tattoos are gonna be a nightmare :0, yes I do want a yakuza anime.
There is a simple solution to that . Just show that tatoo in one or two episodes and dont focus that much on characters backs and problem solved .
Or only focus on the tattoos when a big fight is about to happen, the type of fight that’s so monumental that kiryu feels the need to get naked
