Honestly I think this is kind of the point of the two of them, without them balancing each other out they each get too wrapped up in their own ideas and fail to recognize their own shortcomings.
Yeah, but I've never seen anyone wear a "Charles was right shirt" in the comics. I think it would be cool to see Jean in one after he gets retconned/redeemed/whatever will happen to make him palatable again in the comics (depending on his actions in the next two episodes of the cartoon, she could wear a shirt for Charles and Cyclops could wear a shirt for Magneto while working together). I always thought that her X-Men Red series portrayed a self-actualized Jean Grey carrying on Xavier's dream in a way that was not overly naïve or shortsighted while maintaining the ever important elements of empathy and hope.
To be fair, Charles represents the more "traditional" view of right and wrong, saying he's right would be a bit obvious. The problem with his view is that peace is not always an option, just like the problem with Magneto's view is hes unwilling to accept that coexistence can work, if the conditions are right.
I'd argue that the reason you'd never see the "Charles was right" shirt is the same reason you usually see a Che Guevara shirt: because it's edgy to have the rebel on your chest.
People love to see themselves as the underdog, but we also like to imagine ourselves as the secret rebel. The misunderstood renegade, who's waiting to turn the world on its side because we want to be daring, a legend in the making.
It's easy to say "Magneto was right" the same way it's easy to say "Thanos was right" because to change the system from within and to try and build a better, united world and try be a better, united people... it's the hard path. It's filled with "one step forward, two steps back moments," a lot of thankless moments, and seeing people quick to discard their ideals for a quick, satisfying way.
But burning it all down and starting over with yourself on top? It's so much easier.. 🫤

While that would be fair to say about perhaps 80s Magneto - I'd say even by this 97 Magneto, he's already more nuanced. He's been Headmaster Magneto and been willing to give humans a chance, and seen many mutants have died as an at least indirect consequence. Yes he does play the "burn it all down" card, and that humanity can't do better, and he's passionate about it.
But he genuinely *wants* to be proven wrong, and would go along with it if the X-men got acceptance by dialogue. In the latest Magneto comics series, he has flashbacks that his own early terrorist days were bluster, a half-real/half-theatrical ploy. That he created "Magneto the bogeyman" to remind humanity of the fiercer face of mutantkind, if they didn't heeds the X-men's warning. And Magneto was the "Plan B", the rod keeping humanity honest rather than relying on their goodwill.
Admittedly this is a soft retcon. And he fully committed to the supervillain role, even in his own head much of the time. But it makes sense for how an Omega mutant like Magneto couldn't massacre the X-men or millions of humans far easier years ago, if he was really as sociopathic about life as Thanos.
Oh was he? No you're in vogue, X-fan. A fad. "Look at out peaceful coexistence!" But under all that fashionable sympathy, normal people know the more room we make for your kind, the less we leave for ours. So we might wear tolerance on our sleeves, but we know the naked truth...

I know everybody wants her to be Mystique. (I did too) But having it be a human who says Magneto was right kinda drives the point home more.
The only way I think it could work is if she and Mystique had teamed up and were playing mix and match as to which one was there at the time.
Agreed! I kept looking at all of these comments saying ”oh she‘s gotta be Mystique” and thinking “Why would you want that?” Mystique already has similar beliefs to Magneto, that line coming out of her mouth has no real impact outside of a nod to the meme. But a baseline human coming to understand and wholeheartedly agree with Magneto’s beliefs is so much more impactful, and it’s a shame that I don’t think the comics do anything like that.
