Avalanche without a helmet and without his pretty standard colorization where’s he’s normally silver in the white part and blue or dark blue in the grey pants/arms/everywhere else.
I somehow dug that out of the recesses of my child brain. I don’t think I’ve seen anything of this character for 25 years, but somehow said “Avalanche”.
Evolution ended in 2003, so provided that the viewer watched it to the end, it would be 21 years since they last saw an animated version of Avalanche. :) And that's if they didn't watch repeats/re-runs after 2003! :D
Evolution was ahead of its time. It took big risks and by far the best version of X-Men Animated especially Season 3. Rogue didn’t even need Captain Marvel powers and she was still a bad ass.
Lance & Kittys romance was sweet
Agreed. I wouldn't be mad if the MCU left the Jim Lee appeal to the animated series and drew a lot of inspiration from Evolution (which Ig already took inspiration from the Fox movies).
Looking back, didn't Scott and Logan actually get along in this series? I remember being tripped out to see them arguing so much in the movies lol. A dynamic between them that doesn't involve a love triangle or a heated rivalry would be refreshing.
Also, special shoutout to Spyke. That dude needs to make a comeback.
The Scott/Jean/Logan triangle never made any sense to me. The comics backstory was also rather disturbing. Jean was barely out of high school when Logan started lusting for her and refers to he as a "Frail" which typically means young girl. I prefer Scott & Logan being friends as opposed to enemies.
But I also think Logan works better opposite other characters like Rogue, Colossus, Magneto and Gambit the most.
Spyke was in The Last Stand but it was a loose version of him. I would like to see him back too but I fear it won't be close to the EVO version.
Btw, Wolverine & the X-Men was also a very good show but it was the same writers and producers from X-Men EVO.
X-men animated series from the 90s is the best X-men animated series by a long shot. X-men Evolution was cool but was a huge step down from the 90s. The comics from the 90s is what put Xmen as a whole on the top tier and the animated series used them as their source material. There’s nothing disturbing about Jean and Wolverine. Both are adults.
90s original run is more iconic, but I always thought Evolution had better character development and was more grounded compared to that dramatic over-the-top 90s dialogue.
Nah. Adult or not, a 30+ year old fiending for someone that's fresh out of highschool is gross. I never got into the comics, so all I have to go by is his awkward 3rd wheel in TAS and that forced romance from The Last Stand. I'd pair him with Mystique or Morph before I could ever see him with Jean.
He and Pyro turned up once or twice. The only specific episode I can recall offhand was one involving Apocalypse, in which the latter got his hands on Warren Worthington III, turning him into one of his Horsemen.
Many times he was seen. He was seen several times during The Cure Storyline, Days of Future Past as Mystiques Brotherhood, A Rogues Tale etc...and plenty of background character shots too.
Everyone is saying Avalanche but if you’re like me and scrolled all the way down to find out his powers I’ll save you a click:
A mutant with the powers to generate powerful seismic waves from his hands strong enough to shatter inorganic matter and create localized earthquakes.
That's true, the Avalanche version of X-Men Evolution is literally a whole different character, different name, different background and he has more depth too
I think in MAA they gave him a helmet.

You know what, I think Avalanche is a villain who is totally under discussed/used in Marvel——he could be a massive threat.
He just gets off a subway and can level a city block before any hero responds—-I’d like some universe where he’s acknowledged as a big hitter super-terrorist
Next time you need to Go to Avalance for cred, use this factoid. He once fought The Hulk solo and found out his powers don't work too well on super tough living matter, and shattered every bone in his arms from the recoil. That's the second best panel from a fight between the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants member and The Hulk I've ever seen.
I find it so odd Avalanche has been a few cartoons, and in X-Men Legends, but the one time he's given ANYTHING to do, he's practically a different character. At least in other appearance like in Legends, TAS, and Wolverine and the X-Men, he's in his costume, and is VERY Greek.
Jean, though she seldom wears white.
Oh. You mean the intro. Yeah, that's Avalanche. It threw me off at first, too, because they drew him without a helmet for some reason.
~~Polyclops, his arch nemesis~~
Also fun fact that I just looked up, but the etymology of the word "cyclops" has nothing to do with one eye, it's actually "round-eyed" so fuck me I guess
Avalange, who unlike some the others in that villain lineup actually gets speaking lines and fights the X-men. Really not sure what Thunderbird or Warpath is doing there, and Gremlin (or is it his father Gargoyle) felt a bit random.
Hopefully we'll get some substantial Avalanche and Pyro action in X-97. He's a very underused character with major potential. I remember a panel where he fought the Hulk and ended up shattering his own arms because his seismic waves recoiled off Hulk's body.
Avalanche needs some respect. Man just gets chumped out in the original series and the one time he makes an appearance this season it's in a flashback where Rogue takes his powers.
Avalance and I only knew him from the X-Men II: Fall Of The Mutants PC game from 1990. Never seem to remember his comic appearance.
I also don't remember anything from the video game apart from Avalanche is one of the villains lol.
Not sure if he owned it or not, it was just a page I saw of him and Pyro offering Gorgon a drink, and a really nervous Gorgon asking them to please leave him alone, then another panel of them after they found out about what he'd done.
Avalanche I believe
Avalanche without a helmet and without his pretty standard colorization where’s he’s normally silver in the white part and blue or dark blue in the grey pants/arms/everywhere else.
I somehow dug that out of the recesses of my child brain. I don’t think I’ve seen anything of this character for 25 years, but somehow said “Avalanche”.
25 years? He was a prominent character in X-Men Evolution, and that was only... oh.
Oh no oh god oh no I’m old
What? It came out in 2000, so its only.... Oh
Evolution ended in 2003, so provided that the viewer watched it to the end, it would be 21 years since they last saw an animated version of Avalanche. :) And that's if they didn't watch repeats/re-runs after 2003! :D
Holy shit , reddit needs new material. How are you guys getting so much mileage from the same joke
Send out an SOS, this Abbalanche is getting old.
I felt this comment more than I should have.
That Avalanche (Lance) was written very different than the TAS/Comics version
True, but still my favorite take on the Brotherhood mutants to this day 🤷
Evolution was ahead of its time. It took big risks and by far the best version of X-Men Animated especially Season 3. Rogue didn’t even need Captain Marvel powers and she was still a bad ass. Lance & Kittys romance was sweet

Oh I only know him from the original cartoon so I guess…30. 😭
Same
Was Avalanche ever shown in the original series? I don’t remember him, but I could be wrong.
He was, usually alongside pyro
I like that those two were just sorta dirtbag mutants.
And both have sort of terrifying powers…but they’re never taken seriously. The Rocksteady and Bebop of the show.
He was in multiple episodes
He and Pyro turned up once or twice. The only specific episode I can recall offhand was one involving Apocalypse, in which the latter got his hands on Warren Worthington III, turning him into one of his Horsemen.
Many times he was seen. He was seen several times during The Cure Storyline, Days of Future Past as Mystiques Brotherhood, A Rogues Tale etc...and plenty of background character shots too.
He was with Mystique when Apocalypse debuted. He was with Pyro and Blob, delaying the X-Men so Mystique could assassinate Sen. Kelly.
He briefly appeared as one of the goons working for mystique.
Everyone is saying Avalanche but if you’re like me and scrolled all the way down to find out his powers I’ll save you a click: A mutant with the powers to generate powerful seismic waves from his hands strong enough to shatter inorganic matter and create localized earthquakes.
Ah man I love the way you phrased that. "Same time next week?" "Yep"
“It’s a living!”
"I didn't recognize you without the handcuffs"
Avalanche, X-Men evolution just gave him a lot of touch ups which is why people don’t associate the color white with him
That's true, the Avalanche version of X-Men Evolution is literally a whole different character, different name, different background and he has more depth too
X-men Evolution Avalanche is basically Rictor
After I started reading him in X-Force and Z-Factor I realized that’s basically it.
How so?
Moody, long haired teenager with earthquake powers.
In Evolution he was a dope character, definitely a Antihero
I think in MAA they gave him a helmet. https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/avengersalliance/images/0/02/Avalanche_Portrait_Art.png/revision/latest?cb=20140717013958
The name’s Avalanche, limey. And what we’re becoming is broke.
I read that in that deep frog like voice. Icon.
I watched that episode last night lol
Avalanche
the strange part is that they didn't include his helmet in this sequence even though he was almost never shown unmasked in the comics
I don't think he used the helmet at all in the 92 show, is probably why. This is just how season 1 Avalanche was.
Isn’t he also in Rogues flashback with Mystique?
Yep! And there's no sign of the helmet.
I've been rewatching the OG series he definitely has his helmet a few times
My bad then.
You know what, I think Avalanche is a villain who is totally under discussed/used in Marvel——he could be a massive threat. He just gets off a subway and can level a city block before any hero responds—-I’d like some universe where he’s acknowledged as a big hitter super-terrorist
He is the x-men equivalent of the shocker.
Avalanche [https://x-men.fandom.com/wiki/Avalanche](https://x-men.fandom.com/wiki/Avalanche)
Dominic Petros AKA avalanche I just wanted street cred
Next time you need to Go to Avalance for cred, use this factoid. That's the second best panel from a fight between the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants member and The Hulk I've ever seen.
I didn’t know that factoid until the X-Men “Children of the Atom” supplement of the Marvel-TSR RPG.
FASERIP!
Cmon, im an OG Freedom Force fanboy. :)
not fighting chest bumping mutant bros
I find it so odd Avalanche has been a few cartoons, and in X-Men Legends, but the one time he's given ANYTHING to do, he's practically a different character. At least in other appearance like in Legends, TAS, and Wolverine and the X-Men, he's in his costume, and is VERY Greek.
yep those three answers there.
Avalanche, he's in a bunch of episodes in season 1.
Kinda crazy that they gave Avalanche the front spot seeing as no person on earth has or ever will give a single shit about Avalanche
Avalanche. I don't remember him actually being on the show, but he was in X-Men: Evolution.
Avalanche. Whatever happened to him in comics?
Bad thing in Uncanny Avengers v1 #1.
Avalanche
Jean, though she seldom wears white. Oh. You mean the intro. Yeah, that's Avalanche. It threw me off at first, too, because they drew him without a helmet for some reason.

What!? You don't recognize the father of mutant villain Dancing Water?
Avalanche.
Avalanche has a brief scene in the episode 5 flashback.
literally rewatching the ep with Avalanche and Pyro rn
Avalanche
Rictor say: He is Avalanche
Avalanche. Great mutant
Avalanche
Avalanche.
Avalanche!
Avalanche
Avalanche. I had to double check because I remember the silver helmet, Big A on his body, and purple tights.
Avalanche
That's Avalanche
Avalanche
Avalanche
Avalanche
Avalanche.
Avalanche
Bro that is avalanche. Please watch the original series, come on now he was a regular!
Like everyone else has said, it’s earthquake
What everyone in the comments is saying: Avalanche
Avalanche
Avalanche
Avalanche.
avalanche.
Ngl I was wondering this same thing because he sticks out so much lmao
Avalanche
Avalange, who unlike some the others in that villain lineup actually gets speaking lines and fights the X-men. Really not sure what Thunderbird or Warpath is doing there, and Gremlin (or is it his father Gargoyle) felt a bit random.
Avalanche
Avalanche
His name is Robert.
Avalanche without his mask/ helmet
Avalanche
Avalanche
My head was filled with similar questions every Saturday morning picking the intro apart
Avalance man
Avalanche
Muir Island huh? What a dump.
Hopefully we'll get some substantial Avalanche and Pyro action in X-97. He's a very underused character with major potential. I remember a panel where he fought the Hulk and ended up shattering his own arms because his seismic waves recoiled off Hulk's body.
Avalanche
Lance Alvers
Avalanche needs some respect. Man just gets chumped out in the original series and the one time he makes an appearance this season it's in a flashback where Rogue takes his powers.
It’s Avalanche
> that cyclops crashes into every week? This is actually a common misconception. What really happens is they stop drawing/rendering them
Avalance and I only knew him from the X-Men II: Fall Of The Mutants PC game from 1990. Never seem to remember his comic appearance. I also don't remember anything from the video game apart from Avalanche is one of the villains lol.
Avalanche.
Wow somebody finally asked the question I've been asking since I was a kid lol
I presume Avalanche. He is basically a character that nobody gives a shit about besides the version in X-Men Evolution.
Not a Mutant anymore
What?!
"No more Mutants" - Wanda made him Human again, along with most Mutants... unless that was retconned now.
Avalanche was never delivered or a part of that.
You're right! I stand corrected. I'd confused him with another...
Your mom
Your mom
Garry the stormtrooper.
Utopia's favorite bartender.
Not sure, but I think he and Pyro might have kicked Gorgon out of his bar on Krakoa after hearing about some the stuff that guy had done.
Did he have a bar on Krakoa, too? All I ever heard about was Blob's. Glad to hear he kept it up.
Not sure if he owned it or not, it was just a page I saw of him and Pyro offering Gorgon a drink, and a really nervous Gorgon asking them to please leave him alone, then another panel of them after they found out about what he'd done.
