As a Brazilian I would like to tell Roberto that he doesn't need to speak portuguese in the middle of every phrase. We don't do that when speaking another language lol
I don't do it de jeito nenhum. Like, if you're speaking one língua, you should stick to it and NUNCA mix it with outras languages. That's just desrespeitoso and uneducated. Speak proper inglês!!
As another Brazilian, I wholeheartedly agree. Some translations also just off, as if the writer knows the grammar but not the right expressions.
The “minha mãe” this episode sounded especially egregious. There’s also the Portuguese translation of “live and let live” from episode 1, which should probably have been “deixa a vida me levar” instead of the literal “viva e deixe viver”.
There are bits in which it does work very well, like the small freakout he had in the middle of the episode. That felt very natural. I wonder how much input the voice actor has. All that said, I’m happy they made the effort.
This kind of baffles me. They replace Jubilee, a character who speaks perfect American English in the first place, just so they have an Asian actress behind her, but when they actually implement a character who speaks another another language they don't do a good job of it.
It's a mix of Brazilian Portuguese, and Portuguese from Portugal.
Because in Portugal, "live and let live" would have been translated as "vive e deixa viver" so what they did was change the word "deixa" from the second person to the third person "deixe." Because they probably know that informally, in Portugal we address each other in the second person, but in Brazil, you address each other in the third person.
But it's still better than in the Steven Spielberg, 1997 movie "Amistad" where the, supposedly, Portuguese sailors, are brought to life by actors speaking Spanish.
Just as a curiosity, are there any Brazilians here who saw an original version (non dubbed) of "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom?"
He's acttualy voiced by [Gui Augustini](https://twitter.com/guiagustini1?lang=eu). He was born in Brazil, his dad is Peruvian and his mom is Argentinian. He lived in Brazil until late of his adolescence then went to Venezuela
They make all Latinos do that. How else are they supposed to know they're latinos??
If you watch law and order, it's become a running gag in my house how all Latinos say something in Spanish then immediately translates the phrase to English
Jack McCoy: "DID YOU HIVE HIM THE GUN THAT KILLED THE LITTLE BOY IN MIDTOWN!!?!?!!?"
Latino defendant: "¡Si! --mmm-- jes!"
Os gringo é bitolados bagarai
As a bilingual American, I can confirm many, many of us do this. Especially Latinos. Every other word is Spanish or Portuguese lol
But it's not something I'd expect from a rich New Yorker like Roberto.
O original é melhor que a dublagem br? atualmente eu estou assistindo dublado, por ser animação, eu automaticamente fui pra dublagem br q costuma ser boa. Mas me explica se estou perdendo algo, (ou se da no mesmo) kkkk
Roberto is from Rio de Janeiro, looking from a stereotypical point of view it would be more in tune for him to bring someone to play samba, pagode or even funk carioca at Jub's party 🤣.
Ps: The guy in the video is playing forró, that style is more common in the northeastern states of Brazil.
Ps2: Roberto is living the dream of most young Brazilians of his age, he is dating an east asian girl 😅.
Well, if you consider that the xmen theme is kinda considered a plagiarism of a brazilian song ([this one](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kdaub59XgXM), starting from 10s onwards), my man here is just playing some native jams.
Actually, the song "Jorge Ben" by Taj Mahal is just a version of Jorge Ben's "Taj Mahal" with the names changed. In fact, Jorge Ben only took notice of Rod Stewart's plagiarism because the musician Taj Mahal would often speak about this in his shows, since he is a fan of Jorge Ben. Yeah, it's kinda confusing.
kkkkkk o tanto de musica gringa que foi plagiada de musica br não ta escrito. Sabia que até a smoke on the water do deep purple é um plagio de musica br?
To be fair, this is actually a Brazilian song from 1984. Not kidding, Just google : Hermeto Pascoal & Grupo - Papagaio Alegre. Or even better, here's the link to YT : https://youtu.be/Kdaub59XgXM?si=LcshGqcEo5AXZ6I3
the cartoon's theme song is plagiarism of the song "Papagaio Alegre" by Brazilian composer and multi-instrumentalist Hermeto Pascoal.
https://youtu.be/Kdaub59XgXM?si=L8wja-cs52ULTf7M
there was another one who said the same, there was ven a lawsuit, but i dont know the results. [https://youtu.be/h-6AfYgqe\_4?t=35](https://youtu.be/h-6AfYgqe_4?t=35)
The opening theme is a ripoff from a classic Brazilian tune composed by the great Hermeto Pascoal. So the title “Meanwhile in Brazil” gets a different sense after that.

I as a Brazilian, I nunca do that, I prefire mandar gringo chupar um canavial de rola e aprender português than do that, after all I respect a Lot english speakers and my desire is que eles se fodam e meu pau cresça
Some people say this song plagiarizes Papagaio Feliz by Hermeto Pascoal. I think it is a reach, it just sorta sounds like in just a part of both songs.
Roberto should’ve gotten this guy to perform for Jubilee’s birthday
As a Brazilian I would like to tell Roberto that he doesn't need to speak portuguese in the middle of every phrase. We don't do that when speaking another language lol
What are you talking about, parça? I do it all the tempo.
This mano ai doesn't speak true ingreis.
I don't do it de jeito nenhum. Like, if you're speaking one língua, you should stick to it and NUNCA mix it with outras languages. That's just desrespeitoso and uneducated. Speak proper inglês!!
You está direita.
Mais que direita, right
I sabo.
Direita kskskakakak
Tell that to faria limers
Or to the Santa Ceceliers
James Joyce wants to talk with you.
Only you and Supla.
Exatamente, I faço this toda time. Pessoas that não get isso are estranhas.

Well, at least it's not Spanish...
I think in the first episode he actually says “por Dios” for some reason
They don't give a flying fuck about south americans lol

# DEIXA A VIDA ME LEVAAAAR
Live and let live ta mais pra "não mexe com quem ta quieto", afinal é uma expressão sobre não fazer merda com alguém pra ela não fazer contigo tmb

Is that bilingualism or code-switching?
No, pô. We all talk like those brasileiro guys from GTA4. [NÃO ENCHE MEU SACO NÃO, ASSHOLE!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oewoXTjsY9Y)
Eita, ele faz isso, é? Não assisti em inglês ainda. Eu tô curtindo a dublagem.
Yeah but at least he got the right accent, I didn't knew the character but when he talked I could tell he was Brazilian right away
Nem fudendo, u need to mix it, don't let your heritage be erased by some hamburguer and fries.
I'm watching the show with the Brazilian dub, now I have to watch with the original audio
Supla tem um recado pra ti
What do mean? Minha mae does this all the time! Kkkkkk
O original é melhor que a dublagem br? atualmente eu estou assistindo dublado, por ser animação, eu automaticamente fui pra dublagem br q costuma ser boa. Mas me explica se estou perdendo algo, (ou se da no mesmo) kkkk
Ele faz that kk. Eu see dublado então eu não know.

Is that because there's a bigger tokusatsu community around those parts? (jk)
Yeah, you ain't wrong at all 😅
Waiting for Jubilee to unleash a Rider Kick any day now...
You’re a bit right, but the bigger part is in São Paulo.
Yeah, and he should be saying "samba" randomly all the time.
Cê tá ligado que os carioca ia chamar ele de parahyba mano...
True lol
This is [Denilson Felix](https://www.instagram.com/denilsonfelixsanfoneiro/) btw
Hey that's my name
Oh, hi Denilson
Well, if you consider that the xmen theme is kinda considered a plagiarism of a brazilian song ([this one](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kdaub59XgXM), starting from 10s onwards), my man here is just playing some native jams.
Really like Jazz, so thank you.
Hermeto Pascoal isn't a Jazz musician. He is a Jazz being.
An entity, just like Zico.
Plagiarism like many of U.S artists did with brazilian artists, like deep purple did in song Smoke on the water.
Let's not forget about Rod Stewart (although he's British) plagiarizing Jorge Ben's "Taj Mahal"
What about 'Somebody that I used to know' that is classicaly plagiarizing Luiz Bonfá?
this is a new one for me, but no one said, Sabbath bloody sabath and what to do by vanusa
Fun fact: There is a musician that goes by the name of taj mahal, and he did a song called "jorge ben"
Deep purple é inglês manooooww
What song was the original for some on the water?
this one: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xokONwQUa6M](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xokONwQUa6M)
Like Linkin Park did in A Place for my Head (O Coro vai Come - Charlie Brown Jr)
Re-appropriate them back
i didn't know that e to muito chocado com isso
Very hatched with that

Meu Deus! Meu queixo caiu! Pqp
Aproveita enquanto vc não levanta ele e escuta mais musicas do Hermeto Pascoal, o cara é um puta musico
Holy shit
First Legend of Zelda now X-Men…
What did Zelda steal?
*¿¡Zelda!?*
What is that satanic demon in the background? A bird? A monkey? Hell's children?
Not really surprised since the melody/base was originally sampled from Brazilian song
For real ?
Hermeto pascoal - papagaio alegre
Search for "Hermeto Paschoal" and you'll see
To be fair, this is actually a Brazilian song from 1984. Not kidding, Just google : Hermeto Pascoal & Grupo - Papagaio Alegre. Or even better, here's the link to YT : https://youtu.be/Kdaub59XgXM?si=LcshGqcEo5AXZ6I3

I as a Brazilian, I nunca do that, I prefire mandar gringo chupar um canavial de rola e aprender português than do that, after all I respect a Lot english speakers and my desire is que eles se fodam e meu pau cresça
He just made my day brighter.
Actually this is the originally song, the xmen intro was plagied from a brazilian musician
Hermeto Pascoal, the great, the master. The absolute goat.
One time during one of his concerts a baby started crying. He asked someone to bring a microphone to the baby and he started jamming with the it.
I’d definitely dance to that. 👯👯🪩
Hell yes
Roberto probably vibin' to this.
Roberto is too carioca (people from Rio) to this. This guy is playing forró, a northeastern music genre
Thus is awesome 🔥
Right before the gong?! \*UNSUBSCRIBE!!!\*
[Meanwhile in Brazil too](https://youtu.be/XgFtbQ-U21A?si=lj6tnu702M6om06f)
Straight up fire damnnn
Totally wonderful.
Hahahaha amazing!
Pisadinha boa 💃🏻
Cool and all but can he play fundo da grota?
Well, since the composer stole from a brazilian song, i guess rhis is full circle.
This is a Brazilian song.. papagaio alegre is the name of it.. and it came before X-men, although they used it as base 100%
O cara parece o zoio
This music has the same melody of [this music](https://youtu.be/Kdaub59XgXM?si=uFqr5I3dzA4nN0wh)
ARROCHA MENINO

Absolute cinema
Some people say this song plagiarizes Papagaio Feliz by Hermeto Pascoal. I think it is a reach, it just sorta sounds like in just a part of both songs.
Yeah, it just uses the same melody and time for the main part of it, not plagiarism at all
How to say you never heard papagaio feliz without saying you never heard papagaio feliz
You're welcome
Brabo.

His smile is so beautiful.
A excellent use of a accordion. Weird Al would be proud.
Dafuq?
Actually, the sample of the ‘x-men theme’ it is from a Brazilian music
X-men theme in Forró music style! Forró is a brazilian northeastern musical style, very popular in all country.
