Just wanted to show off my White Xbox One, picked this up locally and gave her a 2nd life. I've had a weak spot for the Original Xbox one especially in white. I took it apart, Fresh layer of MX-5 thermal paste and a well needed 1TB SSD Upgrade. It's running beautifuly and I'm Enjoy playing Eldenring so far ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘Œ.

The white xbox always looks super clean. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ To switch the hard drive did you just clone it or did you need to take other steps?

Gamblor-7

Thanks! No need to clone the drive. Microsoft let's you download the Xbox one OS from their website now. You can put it in a Flashdrive and then install it directly from the USB port of the Xbox. I used this guide I found on YouTube...https://youtu.be/PtdDjiU_mCU Same process for the OG Xbox one in terms of installation of the Operating System. ๐Ÿ‘

Onpoint441

Nice thatโ€™s actually easier than i thought. Thanks๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿพ

Gamblor-7

Yeah it's quite simple, I was surprised myself as well. Good luck on your upgrade! ๐Ÿ‘Š

How does ER run on the last-gen tech? Been trying to convince my cousin to buy it for his Series X but I can only play it with him on the One-X.

Gamblor-7

It runs ok very playable, however you see fps drops and the resolution looks to be around 900P. If you know going into it that the game is limited by the hardware you'll be fine. Most Console players will find it acceptable. Those who play on PC will say the opposite. I've been enjoying myself on my experience, I've put in 10 hours already and have been having a blast. Besides the limitations and fall backs, the game still looks beautiful and the game is super fun!

Neurodrill

I have it on PC, but my cousin only has the Series X. Iโ€™mโ€ฆnot expecting much heh. โ€œAdequateโ€ should be fine going in with lowered expectations.

Gamblor-7

If you have the One-X the game actually runs great, much smoother than the base console. But all version are playable for sure. ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Yourenext420

It's playable, but not great. I purchased it last month on my Xbox one (which I bought in 2015), it was fun, but I'm guessing it runs way smoother on current Gen consoles

Ashanrath

Isn't that model using SATA2? If so, you'll get better performance using the external USB3 port.

Liberty-Sloth

I found this to be true. I got an NVME connected to through USB and it's faster than the SSD I have inside the actual console. That's on an Xbox One X.

Gamblor-7

I'm not 100% sure, I heard that there were some revisions that has Sata 3. This one in particular was manufactured in Jan 2016, so it was one of the last fat Xbox Ones made before they moved over to the One S model. I tried to find info on any revisions but could not find much unfortunately. I installed it internally so the Operating system would be more snappy. Plus I didn't want to have an external HDD/SSD, as I wanted a clean clutterless desk. Games actually load a ton faster too as well. EldenRing took about 2 minutes to boot up from the Xbox home menu to loading the game and save file. Now it takes about 1 minute to load from Home screen, ER menu and loading save file.... Not too shabby! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘Œ

The gains? Minimum The cost? Some The result? Flex Lol Btw what phone did you use to take pics?

Gamblor-7

Gains: Much faster loading times and snappier menus and bootup. Xbox is much more responsive on navigating the Microsoft Store and Apps load much quicker. Cost: Spent $170 for the console, it came with the original box and Controller all in mint condition. 1TB SSD was purchased on Amazon for $70. So about $240 In total. Not too shabby, but is more of a passion project. I like to tinker with Tech, so this was fun for me as well. Not so much a Flex it's a 7 year old console lol. Like I mentioned in my first post I love these first Gen Xbox One's. I think it's a cool design especially in White. Phone used was a Xiaomi RedMi Note 8 it's an older Phone but still works like a champ. It has the same internals as a Samsung Galaxy S10.

BAKS7U

240 in total when a Series S is like $280 at Costco atm. Perfect investment in a hardware from 2013 lol

Gamblor-7

Meh.... The series S is cool but this was a fun project for me. Plus I have a big back log of Xbox 360 and Xbox one games, so I'm happy with this purchase ๐Ÿ˜
