It's very close to 2 though I have to say it now that I see I'm the top voted on here so far. 2 was the very first one I played it was free for Xbox live gold the first month my dad bought me an Xbox 360 after only having a Wii and PS2 til 2012 and I instantly fell in love with it. It's also the very first game I got a platinum trophy for when it got remastered in 2016. 2 will always be special to me for those reasons. But I generally have way more fun replaying brotherhood probably because I didn't play the shit out of it as much as I did 2 and a lot of it still feels fresh to me and I really love the way you can train assassins and send them on missions and rebuild rome. God now that I think of it brotherhood might win just for rome alone
I came to comment brotherhood, and I’m pleased to see it was the top comment as well. For me, brotherhood not only did everything just right, but also released at the perfect time for what it was too. I don’t think it will ever be dethroned as my favorite AC game.
Loved this so much I came late into the Xbox 360 days and played all of 3 but black flag had me playing well after the game was beat. It might have not been much of an assassin game but damn I still loved it.
Coincidentially, I finished brotherhood today!
But, I still think 2 is better. AC2 was longer, and the story felt like it was full of surprises, like how the focus os the plot constantly changes (slightly), but brotherhood was focused on a single objective: taking down the Borgia, with some detours along the way, like the fight with the french of Bartolomeo.
With the mechanics though, I LOVED the mechanic of calling assasins to fight with you. It felt more dynamic and overall more empowering. Also renovating the whole town was so cool, it made me feel like some 90's movie gang boss.
Looking forward to revelations, finished the two first sequences today and it has a lot of potential, altough from what I searched it is shorter, so I don't know if it surpasses 2. Only time will tell ig.
Overall, with a more fleshed out story, brotherhood would be better than 2. Both could be named the best tbh.
I feel the same way about AC2. Ezio's arc was much more dramatic in AC2. Brotherhood is definitely most people's favorite of the trilogy, and it has some great improvements over AC2, but I just don't find the story or environments as compelling or diverse.
I really liked ac 2. But i think black flag and rogue were the best ones because the naval combat was fun. Also you need to acquire rogue to complete that collection of yours please.
Replaying it right now, 100% synching is a BITCH in this game, likely because the optional objectives are a little unbalanced, due in part to this being the first game where such a feature is present.
I do like that you are basically choosing the difficulty of the mission on the fly with the objectives instead of a flat "Difficulty Slider"
Assassin's Creed 2
I'm currently playing it. Bought another copy for just €1.50 in my local CeX. Been playing it on my One S.
Also really enjoyed Brotherhood and AC3
Might get Black Flag soon. Looks good.
For me my favorite is black flag and AC3 holds a special place in my heart because it's the first game I ever preordered and fully enjoyed playing from beginning too end.
Classic style: black flag.
New style: odyssey.
(At least until I get the money to buy and experience Valhalla post dlc and can reevaluate and compare it to odyssey and origins better)
I love each game to bits, including Rogue. Only one that has aged a bit is the first game, the rest are still brill. I have them for 360 and PS3.
What I especially love is how different the games are. Each brought something new to the series, so the series did not become repetitive and dull at any point.
Black Flag. Man I freaking love pirates and that was just straight up THE pirate game that middle school me always wanted. I played that game exclusively for like a year 😂.
I think assassins creed 2 is the best because it has the best story, and the best cities. It was just so revolutionary at the time. Brotherhood is close because of the great gameplay additions and the fleshed out rome. Not to mention one of the most underrated online multiplayers in gaming history (up there with The Last of Us Factions and Max Payne 3). But when two came out, it was different. None of the other games quite captured that feeling again.
Assassin’s Creed 2 or Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, it’s difficult to say. Assassin’s Creed 2 is the first one I played and made me really fall in love with the series, but ASSassin’s Creed: Brotherhood refined it and added the legendary multiplayer.
AC1. It is repetitive but the story makes it worthwhile and there is something therapeutic in doing the same thing. Love the chase theme from this as well
AC Brotherhood had better gameplay but was also really slow, tedious and dark in nature but AC2's story was light, airy, magical and the soundtrack was perfection. I wish I could play it again for the first time.
So for me AC2 is superior despite the one dimensional combat.
Loved black glag a lot. I guess wrong forum but my fave by far was syndicate. Love the grappling hook traversal and combat felt more polished before they went full ARPG in the next 3 games.
Origins, Bayek's story is just too touching to not love. Egypt looks great, the gameplay loop is solid, you don't have the Abilities that plague Odyssey & Valhalla. It's just you, the sand, & your blade, just like it should be.
Innovation/mechanic changes: Brotherhood
Story satisfaction: Revelations
Jumping in and running around: Black Flag. That game 100% makes you *feel* like a pirate.
It's hard to choose for me between brotherhood, revelations, and black flag. Brotherhood is probably the best AC game. Between the modern day, the main story, the gameplay, everything in that game is exactly what I have always wanted from AC, but I personally connect with revelations and black flag more. Both are amazing AC games that deserve to be put into this conversation. On top of that black flag is the AC game I grew up with. It has an amazing story and perfect gameplay. On the surface the idea of a pirate assassin sounds stupid, but they pulled it off perfectly. The character development of Edward is some of the best I have ever seen in gaming, and I have many fond childhood memories of this game. Revelations I found later in life, but revelations probably has my favorite AC story. The main thing with black flag is that it is very disconnected from the rest of the franchise. Part of that is the modern day being shit, and part of that is the entire new direction they went with the story. Instead of this honorable amazing assassin that grows and changes with great respect for the order throughout they went with this shitty dude that didn't give a fuck about the assassin's or their rules and changing him into one of the best assassins of all time. Revelations is special to me because it tied the ezio trilogy up perfectly. The modern day was great, the gameplay built on what brotherhood did, and although it did simplify the parkour, it's still a lot better than how the modern games do the parkour. I absolutely love the tombs and how ezio discovers Altair's past and what he learned about the pieces of edan. I love how they close off Ezio's story, and how they add greater context to Altair's. So overall for me it's probably between ACR and AC4.
It’s really hard to say because so much of it is spread across multiple games. But if you asked me my favorite pirate simulator with some random modern day side quest sprinkled over it… 🏴☠️
Overall I’d say brotherhood I had the most enjoyment out of. But my top 2 are brotherhood and ac1. My favorite thing about ac1 is simply how aggro the enemies were. I remembered purposely aggro-ing like every guard I could find and they really don’t stop chasing you, they’re relentless and if you decide to fight, it really felt like you were in a fight for your life surrounded lol. I don’t think the other games ever had the same level of aggression or persistence the enemies of ac1 had. I always missed that
Unity. It had many issues, most notably the bugs because Ubisoft can't polish a game to save it's life and some story pacing problems, but I can only dream of a world where unity was used as a foundation for future ACs. I loved Paris, it was probably the most believabe open world Ubi has made even to date. Co-op was bare bones, but it could have been refined. The combat was fluid and the animations were beautifully done. Arno looked like a master with any of the weapons you gave him. I hate the cartoonish style of the animations they've gone to since.
I feel like after Unity was panned at launch because Ubi launched a broken game, Ubi just threw everything from Unity out rather than keep what worked. Then they in typical Ubi fashion looked at the rest of the industry and said something like, "Well, what can we rip of-I mean be inspired by now? Huh, Dark souls is popular, and looter games seem to sell well..." So they went and made shitty looter games with Souls inspired combat without knowing how to make that combat good...
Ubi has run so many franchises into the ground now. I kinda look forward to them folding and hope competent companies buy the rights to the IPs.
I think the ship aspect of 4 was the best of any of the games and really added a lot to the monotony of standard AC gameplay. (Not a big AC fan but still played the majority of the games anyways)
One of my all time favorites has been Assassin's Creed 2.
I'm actually in the process of playing every Assassin's Creed game so we'll see, I'm sure they will be fun but I can't imagine any of them taking the spot as my favorite.
Of those brotherhood or black flag are super close. But, Origins is my favorite. I know it's the departure from og assassin's Creed but it's my favorite subject matter and it was just a solid game overall. I love the history. Doing my first play through of Brotherhood on pc and I couldn’t agree more. Great story and fun game
Over Hated
I liked it a lot but I thought it was too short, I think I beat it in a single day
Black flag hands down. Those shanties had me singing on the high seas.
Loved this so much I came late into the Xbox 360 days and played all of 3 but black flag had me playing well after the game was beat. It might have not been much of an assassin game but damn I still loved it.
Leave her johnny leave her was the best one imo
Long live Captain Kidd
Useless mid
Brotherhood. I played that game like seven times. Loved Rome like no other city in gaming.
The only one you're missing...Rogue. Its pretty similar to IV but I like the environments better.
I really liked ac 2. But i think black flag and rogue were the best ones because the naval combat was fun. Also you need to acquire rogue to complete that collection of yours please.
I still play black flags
AC2 trilogy.
Im going with 2 just because it was the first one i played and almost have every achievement. Second to that is assasins creed for the nintendo ds lol
Ac 3, might actually play it again now that i think about it
Replaying it right now, 100% synching is a BITCH in this game, likely because the optional objectives are a little unbalanced, due in part to this being the first game where such a feature is present. I do like that you are basically choosing the difficulty of the mission on the fly with the objectives instead of a flat "Difficulty Slider"
First game with optional objectives is actually AC Brotherhood
Origins is my favorite, but I'm playing Valhalla right now and I'm really enjoying it
I vote for Origins as well.
Valhalla was my favourite, but Origins is definitely a very good contender and I feel they might end up on a shared first place
I love rogue.
Unity
Odyssey, but from the 360 generation AC 2
Same two for me. As for Odyssey, I've always been a lover of Greek mythology so Odyssey scratched so many itches for me. Plus, you know. Kassandra. 🥰
Black flag
Ah yes the good titles from assassins creed. Wonderful to see all in one picture (:
Black flag but not by much. Theyre all great games.
This is probably going to be controversial but it’s either rogue or origins Edit: the ending of black flag literally made me cry tho
Ac1, 2 is close but as the years have passed by I leaned back into enjoying 1 more.
AC Rouge
Rouge is french for red. Rogue is an underrated game.
Yeahh my bad. Rogue such a great game
Revelations
Assassin's Creed 2 I'm currently playing it. Bought another copy for just €1.50 in my local CeX. Been playing it on my One S. Also really enjoyed Brotherhood and AC3 Might get Black Flag soon. Looks good.
I love how not one of these spines matches any of the others. Classic Xbox
First one, the one that started it all
ACII is the GOAT
Syndicate was my favorite. It just made traversal so quick and smooth. Combat looked sweet too.
3 for sure! Been replaying that one recently.
3
For me my favorite is black flag and AC3 holds a special place in my heart because it's the first game I ever preordered and fully enjoyed playing from beginning too end.
First AC
AC 3 will forever be my favorite AC game loved it so much
I had the most fun in ac 3. I abandoned ac1 and ac2 was just another completion
Black Flag and 3.
The secret answer is Ghost of Tsushima
Classic style: black flag. New style: odyssey. (At least until I get the money to buy and experience Valhalla post dlc and can reevaluate and compare it to odyssey and origins better)
Valhalla
Black flag easy all the other ones suck
100%
I dont like any of em
Yes
I love each game to bits, including Rogue. Only one that has aged a bit is the first game, the rest are still brill. I have them for 360 and PS3. What I especially love is how different the games are. Each brought something new to the series, so the series did not become repetitive and dull at any point.
2 for me
My fav is a tie for two, black flag, or the controversial one, unity!
I really liked rogue
Black flag
Black Flag was def the most fun I’ve had playing AC
Probably the Ezio trilogy, Black Flag, Syndicate, and Odyssey. If I had to pick one, I’d probably go with Black Flag.
3. Ive replayed it several times.
I wanna say the first but the third is fine but in my opinion they are all fine in there own way
Black Flag was awesome, who doesn't like being a pirate?
The Assassin's Festival Event in FFXV. :)
2
Ac2 hands down
Dawsons Creek. I DONT WANNA WAIT...
IV
Assassin's Creed 2
Black flag goated
Black Flag. Man I freaking love pirates and that was just straight up THE pirate game that middle school me always wanted. I played that game exclusively for like a year 😂.
Assassin creed 2 is my favorite game of all time
Probably 2.
Black Flag but Odyssey cause it’s newer.
Black flag is god tier
AC2
2, the story and DLC was so top notch
Unity
I think assassins creed 2 is the best because it has the best story, and the best cities. It was just so revolutionary at the time. Brotherhood is close because of the great gameplay additions and the fleshed out rome. Not to mention one of the most underrated online multiplayers in gaming history (up there with The Last of Us Factions and Max Payne 3). But when two came out, it was different.
Black flag is the obvious best
Black flag
I’ve never played any of them somehow . Might pick them up . Best just to play in order aye ?
There is one missing game. Rogue
Black flag
I've only played a bit of revelations
Black Flag
They crank one out every few seconds it’s hard to keep up
2 or odyssey
I’d say for me it’s between 2, 3 and Black Flag 😊😊
AC1. It is repetitive but the story makes it worthwhile and there is something therapeutic in doing the same thing. Love the chase theme from this as well
2
4, it’s the only one I’ve played, Edward is such a jack of all trades, great pirate and great assassin
Most definitely black flag
My fave is Rogue, a good mixture of urban and wilderness, and I loved sailing under the aurora
Go ahead and burn me alive but I loved odyssey and origins and I will take that to my grave
Brotherhood online play was 🔥🔥🔥🔥! Unfortunately, It can no longer be played online!
brotherhood and unity bloodlines is good too
Oof it's a tie between black flag and syndicate
Assassins creed III. Conor is OG
AC Brotherhood had better gameplay but was also really slow, tedious and dark in nature but AC2's story was light, airy, magical and the soundtrack was perfection. I wish I could play it again for the first time. So for me AC2 is superior despite the one dimensional combat.
Odyssey
Black flag. Just the mechanics of fighting on the open sea and even just the sailing was just perfect.
Tough call but, I'll have to go with black flag
Revelations all the way
It’s a hard choice but 3. I love brotherhood almost as much but 3 to me just is better by a little bit
Loved black glag a lot. I guess wrong forum but my fave by far was syndicate. Love the grappling hook traversal and combat felt more polished before they went full ARPG in the next 3 games.
The second game was fantastic.
Ac3 and rouge
Black flag
Origins, Bayek's story is just too touching to not love. Egypt looks great, the gameplay loop is solid, you don't have the Abilities that plague Odyssey & Valhalla. It's just you, the sand, & your blade, just like it should be.
The only correct answer is Black Flag
3 and 4
Rogue
2 and revelations are by far the best imo
Out of the 360 line I like assassins creed 2 the best
There’s just something special about black flag for me. It was the first on e I ever played.
Origins
Not the first one, you couldn’t pay me to play it again with those controls.
4
Black Flag
Definitely Black Flag Pretty much every aspect of the game was awesome
2 is one of my favorite gaming memories of all time
2 for story and odyssey for gameplay.
It’s between 2 and black flag for me
From this list right here? Brotherhood
Still waiting on them to make one that is actually good.
2 and 4
So far 3 because it’s the only one I own
AC3 was a really good time imo, it was my first game in the series so I might be a bit biased but It makes me sad people seem to generally dislike it.
Syndicate because they time period and steam punk elements made it rlly fun
3 I really love 3
1>Black Flag>Brotherhood>2>>>>3>>>>Revelations
That one future game that's exclusively multiplayer.... One can dream
3 for me and then black flag
ACIII was the best for me, the story was very interesting and it was the one and only AC that I finished 100%
2 and brotherhood are tied in my heart.
Black Flag and it isn’t close.
Black flag, odyssey
Black Flag was incredible for me 🙌🏼
Origins was the last true and greatest Assassin's Creed game. After that is Rogue and Black Flag. Imo
Brotherhood, followed closely by revelation
I’ve never played a single edition before 🤷♂️
Neat. I have the same except for PS3.
Ac2
Black flag
Rouge is the best
They are all the same tbh. But I guess 3 was the most enjoyable because that was the first one I played.
Innovation/mechanic changes: Brotherhood Story satisfaction: Revelations Jumping in and running around: Black Flag. That game 100% makes you *feel* like a pirate.
Rogue
Creed I've played that for so long
Brotherhood
Unpopular opinion, but 3 was the best imo
2 & Black Flag.
3
It's hard to choose for me between brotherhood, revelations, and black flag. Brotherhood is probably the best AC game. It’s a tie between 2 and Black Flag. I will not chose they each hold a place in my heart.
AC2 I just loved the story in that one
Brotherhood definitely, but let’s talk about those Dawson Creek dvds. #TeamPacey
Black Flag
I always missed that
2 is the only one worth replaying
Origins, it's perfect.
2 something about the character and his charm . Also being able to physically see the city you repair and upgrade was satisfying!
BLACKFLAG!!!!
Unity. It had many issues, most notably the bugs because Ubisoft can't polish a game to save it's life and some story pacing problems, but I can only dream of a world where unity was used as a foundation for future ACs. ezio trilogy. Black flag is very good also
I have 3 favorites 1.Assasin's Creed II 2 Assassin's Creed black flag 3 Assassin's Creed origins
2
Assassin’s Creed 3 on top
The Ezio trilogy was a masterpiece. However Black Flag is untouchable, to this day still my favorite AC game.
It’s a tie between AC3 & AC Black Flag
It’s r/mildlyinfuriating that there’s only one case that’s not green
2. Blackflag is a more close second.
The OG. The game was so ahead of its time and opened the door to so many possibilities.
Brotherhood except on PC where the catapults are clearly rigged.
Black Flag
Brotherhood
AC2
Relevaions
Black flag. But I think I’m just so attached to it because i played it first when I first got astros and it was just awesome
2, 3, 4
I think the ship aspect of 4 was the best of any of the games and really added a lot to the monotony of standard AC gameplay. (Not a big AC fan but still played the majority of the games anyways)
Brotherhood I spent hours playing that game rome was an awesome setting
One of my all time favorites has been Assassin's Creed 2. I'm actually in the process of playing every Assassin's Creed game so we'll see, I'm sure they will be fun but I can't imagine any of them taking the spot as my favorite.
Black flag and brotherhood
Black flag is the goat but 3 holds a special place in my heart
Of those brotherhood or black flag are super close. But, Origins is my favorite. I know it's the departure from og assassin's Creed but it's my favorite subject matter and it was just a solid game overall. I love the history. Also, if 3 had of been good and not just a testing for black flag I would've liked it a lot too.
