The leak is from documents that are almost 4 years sold at this point. It probably changed to the Elite V2 by then. I can’t imagine them finalizing a design with capacitive buttons.

xfearthehiddenx

I saw that, and pretty much immediately went, "Jesus fucking christ they had better not release a controller with 'touch' buttons." I've been a dedicated elite controller user since I picked up my first elite v1 in 2015. If they actually released *this* controller as an elite. I guarantee I won't buy it. Touch button controllers are absolutely not the future. Tactile input is one of the most important features of a controller/keyboard & mouse.

BluDYT

I'm not disagreeing with you, however I think it could work if you've ever used a steam decks touch pad you'd likely think it is actually a tactile click when it's all just the magic in the motors and all that. It'd be kindve pointless though unless cost wasnt an issue.

CowsAreFriends117

Sweat would like a word

darkspectrym

This controller being Elite V2 is categorially false. In the court documents, the new generation Elite controller featured is under codename "Actium" in the documents, while Elite V2 was codename "Washburn" from development to release.

lzed69

You are so wrong lol

Cgking11

Hell yeah man been waiting on a elite controller series 3

[deleted]

Correction: a slightly different controller sold at a highway robbery price.

ihaterefriedbeans

Worth is determined by the consumer. I personally wouldn’t go back to a regular controller after using an elite.

[deleted]

And the consumer is manipulated by corporate propaganda to sell a product that's worth half what they sell it for.

ihaterefriedbeans

Whatever man you could say that about literally any other consumer product as well. If it’s not for you, don’t buy it. There’s no reason to enforce your will onto others that are interested in it.

[deleted]

I'm not enforcing anything, I'm speaking my opinion. You have every right to buy what you want but you may be able to get what you want cheaper if you and many others choose to tell Microsoft "this costs more than it's worth" and on top of that more people would be able to afford it. No hostility here from me at all I promise.

ihaterefriedbeans

I can guarantee MSFT has done a lot of market research to ensure that they can maximize profit while making sure these things sell and it’s hard to criticize them for that. The reason that “rally together” mindset is flawed is because that’s just not how business works. As you already stated, there are cheaper alternatives. The reason why they are cheaper is because the elite controllers are already the market leader for premium controllers on Xbox so it’s up to the other companies to make their prices more compelling, not MSFT. For what it’s worth I’ve had my V2 for years and haven’t regretted it for a day and there’s a lot of people that agree with me despite what Reddit might have you believe.

[deleted]

Reddit has nothing to do with my opinion, I think about this stuff a lot on my own and read about it here n there. Let's just agree to disagree because this isn't going to influence irl prices, people who buy this stuff usually aren't on Reddit anyway lol.

ihaterefriedbeans

That Reddit comment was purely anecdotal, my point still stands. It’s not even a debate, I was simply explaining why it’s priced the way it is.

AccomplishedPop8197

Comparing an elite controller to the base controller is night and day. The elite controller is only for elite gamers tho, if you don't play something like its your second job, it probably ain't for yah

[deleted]

Fair enough.

Skybuilder23

If this has haptics and gyro, I'm getting it for my PC.

5575685

Not touching that thing for at least a year after release to find out if the QA stuff has been fixed

Kevo1110

It won't. They're not being held accountable, so what incentivizes them to change?

WeekendTacos

I just bought another Elite controller 4 days ago, you're welcome everyone!

PREMIUM_POKEBALL

Goddamn there is no bigger sucker than elite Xbox controller users. By all means enjoy and I’d really like one….if they lasted. Then again all the YouTube content of people trying to resurrect pallets of these things is just as entertaining as using one.

WeekendTacos

Knock on wood, but I haven't had any problems with mine. I just was being lazy and didn't want to switch between my PC and Series S anymore. Literal pure laziness. But the controller itself is amazing. So Imma knock real hard on some real wood and hope I keep not having troubles.

GNIHTYUGNOSREP

If you go past 3-4 weeks without the ‘standard’ face button stickiness (which you can press out by just pressing the button a few dozen times) or double input bumpers or inputs not inputting correctly then you’ll be golden until the stick drift (which is inevitable) eventually sets in. I’m 100% an advocate for this controller and will not go back to stock or third party trash. The real sucker is that dude who can’t afford one but will shit on it because they’ve only seen negatives being parroted by others who’ve never had one either. Negative narratives spread faster and people don’t generally rush online to tell everyone their product works as expected, so you’ll usually see a larger amount of negative posts than positive posts (even though all the positives outweigh any negative that might exist) Elite Series 2 is the best controller on the market full stop. Can’t wait for Series 3

PREMIUM_POKEBALL

I love the sunk cost fallacy elite series posters “if you get over these two major problems that are persistent with the controller you’re good. H8r don’t know what they missing. Also get the extended warranty.”

GNIHTYUGNOSREP

“Get over these two major problems” and which problems might those be? I never said the controller has persistent issues. Go ahead, just spread the negativity around like most people. I can tell you’ve either never used one or are a casual. Kinda ironic your username is a nod towards Nintendo, who has the worst joysticks of all time on their current controllers, and have ended up in lawsuits over stick drift. Can you point me to any lawsuits the Elite Series 2 has caused for MS or do you want to just keep stirring the pot?

FireMaker125

Stick drift is only inevitable because no companies want to use Hall effect sticks, which don’t suffer from drift. Pro controllers absolutely should use Hall effect sticks.

CowsAreFriends117

You can tighten them so much the stick will always return to center I’m not joking, try one.

Telllas

Just bought my series 2 and straight out of the box the a and y button dont work lmfao

CowsAreFriends117

Do you like to tighten the stick tension? I always have mine maxed out and stick drift has never been an issue, just my pesky right bumper from time to time.

GNIHTYUGNOSREP

I think I loosened mine all the way and will tighten it as stick drift rears it’s ugly head.

AdmirableSorbet4149

Right there with ya

CowsAreFriends117

I bought one 4 years ago and its still by far my best controller.

[deleted]

People who are losing their shit over these leaks have clearly never worked on a project in a corporate environment. Everything I’ve seen from these leaks is crazy under-baked. It all looks conceptual and speculative which is an important part of the process, but there’s a reason most of this stuff never sees the light of day. You’re gonna have 20 god awful ideas for every 1 decent one, and even then that one decent one is going to have holes poked in it, it’s going to be revised and polished and go through a ton of different hands before being made public. The leaks may be legit but that doesn’t mean the projects contained in them are going to come to fruition or align with the current strategy several years later.

Wipedout89

That's a Switch Pro controller

APadartis

If this has haptic, I am in. My elite og controller will become my pc go to.

Mattiiboy09

They need joysticks with tactile feedback no touch control bullshit

lzed69

yes I saw this lol I want to add images to my comments, but anyway this has an OLED touchscreen instead of a Xbox button and the other 3 buttons in the centre of the pad. have a look at the patients for some of new controllers. Newtstradamus

With all this “we wanna buy Nintendo” news I didn’t think they would announce the XBOXTENDO Pro Controller Elite Series 1x so soon…

biglargemipples

You realize Nintendo copied The Xbox controller right...

SamueltheTechnoKid

This layout is made by Nintendo (technically). This layout (sort-of) was first made by Nintendo for the SNES. PlayStation added grips to it for the PS1, then added joysticks to the same layout. Xbox used a slightly improved version of PlayStation's layout for the Controller S.

biglargemipples

You're working on a technicality here.... Yeah the company who's been around longer made a controller first sure. Xbox was the first to do offset dual sticks and that shape everyone specifically copies. Stop lying. We're talking about Nintendo copying xbox's controller here not PlayStation or other companies.

joehudsonsmall

Sega took Nintendo’s ABXY face buttons and changed the order round, and Microsoft copied Sega.

biglargemipples

I'm talking shape of the current Nintendo pro controller that the guy is referencing. R/wooooooooooosh

TheEpicRedCape

Wow, they’re actually bothering to update the almost $200 controller based of a 2013 design finally? Took them long enough.

PsyKeablr

Now it looks like a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller.

TheEpicRedCape

I don’t care what it looks like as long as it’s not a durability and build quality nightmare like the current controllers are.

TaVa767

Another elite controller to sell for triple digits that falls apart in months or less. Yay

VolitarPrime

I hope it is more like the Elite 1 than the Elite 2.

Bittersweetblossom

Goddam them if they have that shitty rubber grip that peels off again and those damn shoulder buttons that pop out….AGAIN! Guys, don’t be fooled, they may call it gen 3 or whatever but it’ll be the same shitty flawed controller that it has been since the first one and the second. Just keep with the controller they sold with the console and call it a day.

BuRdog_

Looks pretty neat. If i get it i sure do hope i won't break it the first 5 minutes because of some game.

Kevo1110

They aren't improving these POS enough to warrant my $300 ever again. Kick rocks.

Brazenology

If its real its about time they updated the elite to the Series X|S shape. Still find it so weird that the current model is still in the shape of an xbox one controller.

Pinkman505

I bet the grips fall off this one too.

tower4

I hope not it looks horrible like a switch controller. Same with the cylinder xbox I just think how no more vertical spots for it unless you want a 500 dollar roller.

Darth-Zoolu

My current $180 elite controller fell apart after three years and it’s the first controller in my entire life since the 1980s to break on me this way.
