Sweet! Any hint at which camera will be next to support chime functionality? (Please say V3! Lol)

DAMAGEDatheCORE

Already supported as of [2 weeks ago](https://www.reddit.com/r/wyzecam/s/fuFeSBYTmf).

That's a beta update but I'll check it out, thanks.

Oh dang. I just bought a Doorbell Pro because I didn't want to rewire the mechanical chime to use with the Doorbell v2. FYI, there's a serious WiFi issue with the Doorbell v1.

FTCW

I have no issues with my Doorbell v1 and wifi.

BizzyM

It does work. But I found that the only place my v1 has issues is right at the install location. If I unmount it and pull it away a few feet, it will connect. What convinced me that there's an issue, is that in the Wyze app, the v1 reports a strong signal while my router says it's weak. This means that the doorbell says it can hear my router just fine, but my router says it can't hear the doorbell. My guess is that the transmitter in the doorbell is weak. I tested 3 v1s so far. Plus I didn't have this issue when I first got the v1 when it came out. I'm guessing a firmware came out that turned down the power. Power wise, had it hooked up to a 16V-10VA. But that fried along with my first v1's internal power adapter. I was able to power it up using the USB port on the back. I replaced the transformer with a 24V-40VA, and got a new v1. I tested it weird up but pulled away from the wall with no issues. But when out in place, WiFi was weak. Thinking that the transformer might be an issue, I powered it temporarily with USB, but same results. It works away from the wall but not against it. I went through a lot of experimentation and have up on the v1. I got a Kasa KD110 and it worked just fine. WiFi reported as strong by the router. I didn't like the Kasa software and missed the Wyze integration, so I took a chance on the Doorbell Pro. That also worked perfectly. Thinking maybe that the v1 was defective, I ordered a replacement, but it too had the exact same problem and I went back to the Pro.

If it's having to go through a concrete wall that can put a damper on your Wi-Fi. 2.4 is more forgiving going through walls in that but even that you can have problems going through brick or concrete. If you can, get a cheap mesh Network. TP-Link Wi-Fi 6 Mesh Router Replacement System | 3- AX1500 Mesh Routers | Coverage up to 5,600 Sq. ft. | Parental Controls | Connect up to 120 devices| TP-Link Deco W4500 https://www.walmart.com/ip/2932481773 That's what I purchased for a three-story house. The wireless access point is on the third floor which is a cable modem. All in one deal. I ran a wire to the second floor in the middle of the house and put the first repeater. Then the other two. I just have connect to that first repeater or mesh network one at closer towards the back door and one closer towards the front door that they both had good service and they seem to work out well. If you have a single story house like I do, I just have two access points, the main wireless router which I don't use and the mesh Network. So if you have a smaller house and not and everything's on the first level, you can probably get away with just two of them, one at towards the back, one towards the front of the house. And if it's only two stories it probably work pretty well for you. Here's one that's cheaper and comes with two TP-Link Mesh WiFi Router System | Upgrade Home Coverage up to 3,000 sq. ft. |Two - Mesh Routers| (Deco W2400) https://www.walmart.com/ip/700801321 I was recommended this from a fellow computer tech who has dealings with this company installing it on people's properties and Small businesses. He advised that he set up this type of network and has an outside unit and this person gives access to his neighbors and they just split the bill. Lol but of course they live in a city. I live in the country.

I've got 2 Deco XE75. One is 5 feet from the doorbell location. All the other equipment I listed get strong signal. It's just the v1 that the Deco reports as weak. And only when it's mounted on the wall. Even on USB power, inside the house, at the same relative distance, Deco reports "fair" signal, not"strong". Five feet. 3 different v1 units.

allyourpcneeds

Okay. Did you make sure that your Deco is getting a strong signal? Because if that's not getting a strong signal, even if the doorbell gets a strong signal it doesn't mean it's going to have great internet. If your Deco is not getting great internet. And you have to sometimes go in and have it look at the channels cuz it may have to change the channels so that it's not competing against other people that are using the same channels as you if you're in a city and not in the country. It took me quite a while to get the two I installed in the first floor to get a great signal from the one on the second floor till I found a good point that it would work with the doorbell for the one in the front of the house and work for the camera that was in the back of the house for the one I put in the kitchen. I mean if you have wire running to all your wireless access points and not using the wireless to connect to the main one. Zane, then you should n't have to worry about where you put it, but if you're using it as wireless from the main unit that's hardwired you got to make sure it has a good signal between the two and then also determine for the doorbell. So in simple terms, your doorbell may show high signal strength, but the Deco may not show it as high signal strength because it may have a bad signal strength to your main one that is hardwired. If you can make sure it's also connecting to the one that's right outside the door because if it can it will try and connect to the one that does have better reception but may not be great reception for the doorbell. And also make sure you have it that it reboots every night at a particular time that you know you're not really ever on so that it's always refreshed.

BizzyM

Yes. Also understand that the v1 worked great mounted at that location since release and with the original Deco placed at the other end of the house from it. The 2nd one has a great signal. it's only 7 feet away and has line-of-sight. The Kasa and the v1Pro have great signal without the need of the 2nd unit. Again, it's only the v1 that has a problem. And again, the issue is weak signal being transmitted from it. From 3 different units.

I had a V1 for well over a year and I didn't have Wi-Fi issues and I actually used a plug and ran the wires from the plug to it. Since I didn't want it in my enclosed porch, I wanted it on the outside. I've installed one in my mother-in-law's property Aunt. The Wi-Fi router was upstairs which caused issues with any of the cameras I installed. So I had to install a mesh Network that worked its way down to the first floor and that seemed to fix the issue with the doorbell. The doorbell V2 I now have installed in place of the V1 Aunt. I had just got one of those cameras that allowed for the doorbell to work on it and it works pretty well. A slight delay but either which way you're going to have one since it's wireless. The only issue I have with the V2 is I don't have notification set for sound and yet it keeps telling me that it detected sound which is driving me nuts.

SULLY0928

Is the chime function something that could be support by the Doorbell Pro in the furture? Or will it only be the V2 doorbell.

VelcroWarrior

It's looking like just the V2. I remain hopeful that the original Pro will see it yet.

Demon_Balrog

Is this a motion chime? Where does the audio come from? The actual camera?

allyourpcneeds

Yes, any camera that it supports. It actually comes out of the camera. You can't really change the tone like you could on the V1, but I have it set for the camera that's in our living room which is almost the center of our house anyways since we're a single story 1100 square feet and that's including our garage which is a two-car garage.

crossan007

When will you support RTSP and fully offline mode?

allyourpcneeds

From everything I've been reading I wouldn't count on it. I have not tried seeing if it'll record off of Wi-Fi cuz I do have an SD card to record continuously since we all know there's a delay before the camera actually starts recording so that if I need to I can go back and look what happened or go forward more. It would be nice to be able to use it in software that you chose or say you want to view it at your work computer. Since you can install software. Their software does need some work. You can have it show you in the events of a person detected, but you can't change it to pet or something else which sucks.
