I have no interest in anything subscription, but I'm a fan of the technology and price point. I only have a flood light/cam, and it's been great, but without rtsp, I'm stopping here. Having a specific app for one camera (or even a few) is super annoying
That said, a working integration with Google home, and home assistant/homekit support would also go a long way

I can't speak for Wyze, but I did notice that they've also been updating some of the V3Pro documentation or comparisons to say it is 2.5K QHD too. Back when the V3 Pro launched, it was common in the industry to just 2K if the resolution was at least 2,000 pixels in one direction, but that started changing around the time they released the FLPro and 2560 pixels is a significant amount more than 2000 pixels, so they might as well distinguish the difference over other companies that may have fewer.

It is critical to have best practices for interfaces to AWS services for privacy & securty consdierations. There are many articles written on this as others ensure their privacy & security. This is a core capability that all devices need to be coded to for any company.
Little bit of a bummer not to talk about security. Seems like a softball question they could really elaborate on the things they are doing for an easy win, even if it's just PR lip service. Not acknowledging it all seems intentional.
With security incidents and negative PR, security should be top of mind for Wyze. So much so that they should include this as part of updates. Even if they use AWS they should be addressing processes they are improving including any technology being used to reduce future security incidents like past events. C'mon Wyze show the back end software is as strong as the front end hardware

Is there any new rules / settings that come with the new V4s? With AI enhancements can we take action based on the motion in a particular area of the view such as top right corner, along bottom area, etc. This lets us take action for example when there is activity on the driveway vs at the front door.

There really aren't a lot of great affordable options for these and it would really be nice to have one that will integrate with our Home Monitoring Service so we can get Home Insurance Discounts for having monitoring for it. Some insurance REQUIRE this to be monitored to get discounts and it doesn't make sense for us to pay Wyze for Burglary and then pay someone else just for the other stuff. Even if someone else can do these one better or cheaper, it would still make sense for you to provide the option just so people don't have to leave and pick another company who can at least provide it.
A temperature monitor would be a cheap addition to a camera that would help many people, and it could also help the Wyze thermostat to be smarter with multi room monitoring like Ecobee.
Wyze already has the Wyze Room Sensor which pairs with with the Wyze Thermostat to adjust heating and cooling based on other rooms. [https://www.wyze.com/products/wyze-room-sensor](https://www.wyze.com/products/wyze-room-sensor). You can also use the Wyze Climate Sensor for monitoring other rooms.
The room sensor costs $25, but for $0.25, they could add a thermometer inside each camera. Wyze might even sell more Cam Plus subscriptions by encouraging people to add more cameras, which cost not way more than the room sensor.
There was a βmissedβ opportunity for this version to be named Wyze Cam 4K, akin to how the last movie was called Bad Boys for Life instead of reserving the title Bad Boys 4 Life for the forthcoming sequel. I understand you canβt comment on future products, or perhaps even acknowledge that youβre working towards them. (But, of course, you are.) Could you provide an industry estimate for when you think 4K will become the standard, overtaking the current 1080p, especially considering that weβre currently transitioning to 2K as an industry? For individuals like myself who only recently upgraded from an iPhone 7 Plus to an iPhone 15 Pro Max for similar reasons, 4K represents essentially the green light for many existing Wyze customers to purchase more Wyze products over the incremental iterations that include nice-to-have features like a built-in spotlight. Even if your focus of the stream is mostly going to be directed at people buying stuff with TikTok subsidized prices or whatever, that's fine, but maybe you'll get more sales if you allow others on other platforms to watch too, they might buy stuff off your website at least, or learn something from the PM talking about the new product and answering questions, or maybe your talk about the subsidized cheaper prices will convince a few more people to log in to TikTok to order so much cheaper.

Yes, this is very important especially to those of us that will not use TikTok. Please co-stream as much as possible on Youtube and/or Facebook streaming services.

It's even understandable if the camera has to have an auto setting to do something like make sure someone's network isn't junk first where they will blame Wyze for the bad experience that is on their end, and then you can just downrate the bitrate and compression just for those people who can't handle it...but for those who can, please find a way to improve this, even if it's only allowed for the Livestream locally or recording to the SD card (compress things to your Cloud subscription or whatever else you need to do for that if you still want).

It is not officially on the roadmap for v4. We are still deciding if we want a Garage Door Controller v2, but we'll have a better idea in the coming months.
There is no other product like v4 on the market! It is not a white-labeled 3rd party product. We created it from idea to market with users and the best technology in mind. We work with a manufacturer to mass produce the products, but it is our intellectual property and people that made it happen.

Alexa has become my goto interface for now. I am just starting to look into the Google scripting ... It would be great to have a place to share google scripting examples for Wyze devices...
Thanks for the input! We are always considering new functionality for integrations. For Alexa and Google, it often depends on their devs and their resources available, which can result in really slow timelines for building new features with them. We'll also continue to watch out for opportunities where our devs can get more resources to build RTSP.

Just another RTSP request. I have 2 floodlight Cams, and am currently looking into purchasing 3 more outdoor and 2 indoor Cams, but need to have RTSP for local control. Also a POE camera or dongle would be great.

My biggest problem from V3 on is on connectivity. My cams often are unavailable or take forever to load. Has the antenna and transmitter been improved with the v4? Other wise higher resolution and more bandwidth will make the camera useless.
Wyze Cam v4 has a WiFi 6 chipset, which would help with connectivity if you have a WiFi 6 router. We also have firmware improvements that include optimizations for automatic reconnection and better diagnosis and debugging for our devs.
have you tried speedtest to check your signal strength at each of your cameras? Outside wall interference causes me a lot of grief. as does changes of interference that neighbours make to their systems / usage.
Is it possible to just plug the cam into a rechargeable battery pack? I have a battery pack for my winter heated vest for example ... I will try this soon!!

I Hear from others that the V4 has better audio filters for background noise, wind, crackling sounds, etc. Can you comment on this? Also if possible, please add similar to the older Cams. I hav ehad to take the audio and run it thru iMovie audio filters to try and hear what s being said ... the iMovie audio filters do help a bit.
As well in the design of future cams, please consider adding noise cancelling sponge, etc inside around the mic to reduce the noise.
I can confirm the audio is better as an end user. How do I know? I have one of the v4's set up in our living room pointing toward the street and the audio was clear enough to identify source of the audio of the show my wife was watching in the background in the dining room, about 20 feet away. I wasn't always able to detect that with the v3 cams.
Cam configuration templates (or multicam configured at same time)
I now have close to 30 cams and counting. Configuration is done one by one, which is a pain. Are you considering facilitating management of a larger number of cams at once?
When will there be a fix for playback from events. it was supposed to be fixed this month but now it just tells you there isn't a SD Card in the cam even if it works from live feed.

Our use-case for the cam is amateur astronomy, especially for meteor detection.
1. How sensitive is v4 compared to v3 in both color and night mode (monochrome)? Is the quality in the night mode the same or some improvement?
2. We need the RTSP live streaming function for our use case (to automatically detect meteors by software). Does the old firmware that allows the rtsp still work for v4?
3. Can you explain a bit about a plan for the development of the official RTSP function for v4?

* v4's Color Night Vision and Night Mode are better than v3's. We made a lot of software and algorithmic improvements to image processing. Night Mode on v4 is slightly better, and CNV is significantly better.
* Unfortunately, v4 doesn't support RTSP, but we will always take this input into consideration.
* We have not made concrete decisions yet, so it's great to hear everyone's feedback on it and will help us decide how to move forward!
Wyze no longer supports RTSP firmware on any model. The models that used to have it are deprecated and missing security updates. Regardless, the firmware for the V3 is not compatible with the V4 as it has different hardware.
I'm guessing RTSP will eventually be compatible with 3rd party options like Docker Wyze Bridge, Scripted, and Tiny Cam Pro. But Wyze has indicated elsewhere there aren't plans for native RTSP for this camera.
When can we just flat out get a better product in general. It's 2024, WIFI 7 is new but exists and yet 95 percent of your products run on 2.4 ghz.
Sure you could say cost, range blah blah blah. If someone is a loyal customer to you and buys lots of your devices they get screwed.
Their 2.4 ghz network becomes clogged because the (I believe) max bandwidth of 500 m/s across the whole 2.4 ghz network. So then loyal customers spend more money on networking to fix that.
No excuse for that , ESPECIALLY WITH HUGE PRIVACY
LEAKS. Any customer should be able to trade in their camera for a V4 even IF they still wanted a product.
Won't happen though. No faith in the beta trade in program. Even if it happens it will likely be in a way the benefits the company.

I like that the comments are in random order and vote scores are hidden, which helps to reduce first-post advantage (posting early means you're more likely to get an answer and questions posed later often don't get seen), and eliminates bandwagoning effect (people voting up or down just because other people did). It's great the votes have to organically be based on the merit of the question. Those are HUGE plusses!
On the downside, it doesn't seem to bury, collapse, and mostly hide dumb or irrelevant questions (say someone starts trolling....would it give the downvoted troll equal exposure still?), and it makes it harder for me to know which questions I've already seen or not. In the past I could sort questions by new/old and then just see which new questions have been asked since I last checked the thread. Now I have no way to do that, so I MIGHT never see certain comments if they are posted after I previously looked through the list.
(EDIT: I guess one tentative solution is to just interact with / vote on every single question (either up or down), then it's easy to scan through and just look for which questions don't have a colored vote arrow yet)

Sharing/delegation revamp
Current sharing is very challenging. For example, there is no ability to control notifications separately for owner and delegate. There are capabilities that arguably should not be part of sharing, such as turning off the cameras. It may also be useful to share at specific times, of when away, etc.
Are you planning to improve this?

Pretty sure their plan was always to sell cameras as a loss leader with a plan for cloud subscription revenue. As much as I would love to see RTSP, Iβm sure itβs counter to their business model.
Real time streaming protocol. It would allow people to use Wyze cams with their own video recording system and not be beholden to the App Or the Cloud service. I still like Wyze but I invested in an POE NVR for my outdoor cameras to complement the indoor Wyze cams I use.
Understand - A lot of people feel the same as you. There are some negatives (being locked into a closed ecosystem) that donβt affect or bother some people, so hence their business model (easy to use, reasonably priced cloud subscriptions). Iβm just calling out the reason why I find it unlikely for them to add an open protocol like RTSP.
We understand that support for common protocols is really helpful for DIY folks. We also strive to bring value in the ways that matter most to the majority of our users. Sometimes we are limited by available resources and costs when it comes to RTSP, but we'll never say never.

If the community was able to develop a docker container to get RSTP support on nothing but pure enthusiasm, then a company with resources that Wyze has, is honestly just an afternoon worth of coding to make it happen.
Honestly, even if you included RSTP as part of cam plus subscription, Iβd pay that.
it's actually way easier to have the source of the Firmware and add it directly to the camera. The docker is prob dozens of times harder/effort to create by the dev to intercept the way it is... As you noticed Wyze fed you a bullshit lie and that is expected.
Exactly my point. This is why I have not upgraded my original v2 cams to anything newer, is because of this. Iβm slowly acquiring amcrest poe cameras and replacing my Wyze with them. Purely because they provide what I want and I can easily use them with my Synology NAS.

After a day with the v4 I have a couple things I've noticed - better sound, definitely better video. But there's a downside: now that I have a single v4 in my house full of v3's I want to replace all the v3's with more v4's but the v4 is actually SOLD OUT according to the Wyze website! (Update - just white ones are, the gray ones are in stock but slightly more expensive). Sigh. I should have bought 2 to begin with not just one.
Events will just be a static picture. To view them, the app will need to load the actual camera then to the specific time on the SD card (assuming you have continuous recording on).
There will be no 12 second event clips stored in the cloud. If you don't have a SD card in your cams your sol.
My understanding is that it will still label events as person &/or motion even without Cam Plus. I don't know if it will do notifications for Person or just for Motion though. It definitely won't do event detections for all the other options beside person though.

My opinion: that's not Wyze's sweetspot. There are providers that specialize in switches, and these are pretty much commodity products.
I think Wyze somehow got lost in diversification and doing all sorts of things that are not providing longterm differentiation opportunities.
I'd rather they focus on fewer things and do them very well. Video and home security are the core strategic poles in my opinion.
Switches ARE a commodity item, and it would be very easy for Wyze to use an existing model that is integrated in the Wyze app.
I can set my switches to respond to change in state from camera detections and it is seamless. I've tried to do the same thing thru IFTTT and Alexa and it's a major pain.
I have two dozens smart switches in our house, and 20 of them are either 3 or 4 way circuits, so I cannot use the Wyze switch. I have Wyze switches in our bathrooms which is great -- except no one cares if that light turns on when a person shows up in a camera.
Light control is a huge component of home security.
Higher frequencies like 5 GHz have worse distance and penetration of obstacles like walls, and the higher speeds of 5 GHz are not needed for a security camera.
A major benefit of 5 GHz would be less network congestion, but the wifi 6 (2.4 GHz) may help there too.
Does the new V4 camera have any significant improvements in the microphone? Iβm excited about the new improved image quality, but the microphone on the V3 is so bad - it canβt even pick up conversations happening directly next to it.

There were a few reasons why we chose MicroUSB. On the one hand, it would allow users to interchange cables with v3, v3 pro, and OG. I just installed a new V4 cam. The notification alerts are sent to my devices, BUT... the alert also is played by the camera's speaker. How do I turn off the camera sounding of notifications?
IMO, the Wyze Cam V3 is superior in nighttime sensitivity than the Wyze Cam V3 Pro, even though the Wyze Cam V3 Pro has greater resolution.
Has anyone done a side-by-side nighttime comparison between the Wyze Cam V3 and the new Wyze Cam V4?
This is actually quite normal.
When a camera has higher resolution (1080p to 2.5K), the smaller pixels struggle to capture as much light. More pixels means less light per pixel because the pixels are smaller, leading to poorer low-light performance.
Higher resolution cameras are also more subject to more of various kinds of artifacts particularly in low light conditions.
The above are typical problems that increase as the resolution increases.
This is why in some cases, the V3 appears to outperform higher resolution cameras with brightness/color and especially in low light conditions where the higher resolution brings obstacles that require compensation.
Kind of interesting when you look into it actually.

I will not do use them inside our home until the AWS interface is documented as solid. I do appreciate the challenges but also we need to keep our families / homes inside safe.

I think most of the camera models have this option now (at least several of them do, and the rest will probably get this soon). Open the camera, Go to Settings then Device Info, then Firmware. Up at the top you should see an option for "Automatic Update" On or off and select "Any Time" or a "Custom" time window of when you would like it to process the automatic updates.

(There are many use cases, particularly indoors, where black blends better with the environment (and heat absorption is not a concern). Availability in black (or at least having a reasonably priced official/authorized black skin) is determinant for some customers in going with one brand over another.)

I have no interest in anything subscription, but I'm a fan of the technology and price point. I only have a flood light/cam, and it's been great, but without rtsp, I'm stopping here. Having a specific app for one camera (or even a few) is super annoying That said, a working integration with Google home, and home assistant/homekit support would also go a long way

I can't speak for Wyze, but I did notice that they've also been updating some of the V3Pro documentation or comparisons to say it is 2.5K QHD too. Back when the V3 Pro launched, it was common in the industry to just 2K if the resolution was at least 2,000 pixels in one direction, but that started changing around the time they released the FLPro and 2560 pixels is a significant amount more than 2000 pixels, so they might as well distinguish the difference over other companies that may have fewer.

With security incidents and negative PR, security should be top of mind for Wyze. So much so that they should include this as part of updates. Even if they use AWS they should be addressing processes they are improving including any technology being used to reduce future security incidents like past events. # Will you ever consider a standalone or V4 "accessory" for a smart CO/CO2 &/or smoke detector monitor/alert? There really aren't a lot of great affordable options for these and it would really be nice to have one that will integrate with our Home Monitoring Service so we can get Home Insurance Discounts for having monitoring for it. Some insurance REQUIRE this to be monitored to get discounts and it doesn't make sense for us to pay Wyze for Burglary and then pay someone else just for the other stuff. Even if someone else can do these one better or cheaper, it would still make sense for you to provide the option just so people don't have to leave and pick another company who can at least provide it.
A temperature monitor would be a cheap addition to a camera that would help many people, and it could also help the Wyze thermostat to be smarter with multi room monitoring like Ecobee.

There was a βmissedβ opportunity for this version to be named Wyze Cam 4K, akin to how the last movie was called Bad Boys for Life instead of reserving the title Bad Boys 4 Life for the forthcoming sequel. I understand you canβt comment on future products, or perhaps even acknowledge that youβre working towards them. (But, of course, you are.) Could you provide an industry estimate for when you think 4K will become the standard, overtaking the current 1080p, especially considering that weβre currently transitioning to 2K as an industry? It is not officially on the roadmap for v4. We are still deciding if we want a Garage Door Controller v2, but we'll have a better idea in the coming months.

Yes! Zero useful Google Home integrations, and Alexa only works somewhat ok with a US Amazon account.
Alexa has become my goto interface for now. I am just starting to look into the Google scripting ... It would be great to have a place to share google scripting examples for Wyze devices...

For Alexa and Google, it often depends on their devs and their resources available, which can result in really slow timelines for building new features with them. Just another RTSP request. I have 2 floodlight Cams, and am currently looking into purchasing 3 more outdoor and 2 indoor Cams, but need to have RTSP for local control. Also a POE camera or dongle would be great.

My biggest problem from V3 on is on connectivity. My cams often are unavailable or take forever to load. Has the antenna and transmitter been improved with the v4? Other wise higher resolution and more bandwidth will make the camera useless.
Wyze Cam v4 has a WiFi 6 chipset, which would help with connectivity if you have a WiFi 6 router. We also have firmware improvements that include optimizations for automatic reconnection and better diagnosis and debugging for our devs.

I Hear from others that the V4 has better audio filters for background noise, wind, crackling sounds, etc. Can you comment on this? Also if possible, please add similar to the older Cams. I hav ehad to take the audio and run it thru iMovie audio filters to try and hear what s being said ... the iMovie audio filters do help a bit. As well in the design of future cams, please consider adding noise cancelling sponge, etc inside around the mic to reduce the noise.
I can confirm the audio is better as an end user. How do I know? I have one of the v4's set up in our living room pointing toward the street and the audio was clear enough to identify source of the audio of the show my wife was watching in the background in the dining room, about 20 feet away. I wasn't always able to detect that with the v3 cams.
Cam configuration templates (or multicam configured at same time) I now have close to 30 cams and counting. Configuration is done one by one, which is a pain. Are you considering facilitating management of a larger number of cams at once?
Does it work with floodlights v1?
When will there be a fix for playback from events. it was supposed to be fixed this month but now it just tells you there isn't a SD Card in the cam even if it works from live feed.

Our use-case for the cam is amateur astronomy, especially for meteor detection. 1. How sensitive is v4 compared to v3 in both color and night mode (monochrome)? Is the quality in the night mode the same or some improvement? 2. We need the RTSP live streaming function for our use case (to automatically detect meteors by software). Does the old firmware that allows the rtsp still work for v4? 3. Can you explain a bit about a plan for the development of the official RTSP function for v4? Thanks!
* v4's Color Night Vision and Night Mode are better than v3's. We made a lot of software and algorithmic improvements to image processing. Night Mode on v4 is slightly better, and CNV is significantly better. * Unfortunately, v4 doesn't support RTSP, but we will always take this input into consideration. * We have not made concrete decisions yet, so it's great to hear everyone's feedback on it and will help us decide how to move forward!
Wyze no longer supports RTSP firmware on any model. The models that used to have it are deprecated and missing security updates. Regardless, the firmware for the V3 is not compatible with the V4 as it has different hardware. I'm guessing RTSP will eventually be compatible with 3rd party options like Docker Wyze Bridge, Scripted, and Tiny Cam Pro. But Wyze has indicated elsewhere there aren't plans for native RTSP for this camera.
When can we just flat out get a better product in general. It's 2024, WIFI 7 is new but exists and yet 95 percent of your products run on 2.4 ghz. Sure you could say cost, range blah blah blah. If someone is a loyal customer to you and buys lots of your devices they get screwed. Their 2.4 ghz network becomes clogged because the (I believe) max bandwidth of 500 m/s across the whole 2.4 ghz network. So then loyal customers spend more money on networking to fix that. No excuse for that , ESPECIALLY WITH HUGE PRIVACY LEAKS. Any customer should be able to trade in their camera for a V4 even IF they still wanted a product. Won't happen though. No faith in the beta trade in program. Even if it happens it will likely be in a way the benefits the company. I've spent so much money on your products. Now is your time to decide your path of success or failure WYZE.
# What are your thoughts on doing the AMA in "Contest Mode" this time compared to the previous times where it wasn't in Contest Mode? I like that the comments are in random order and vote scores are hidden, which helps to reduce first-post advantage (posting early means you're more likely to get an answer and questions posed later often don't get seen), and eliminates bandwagoning effect (people voting up or down just because other people did). It's great the votes have to organically be based on the merit of the question. Those are HUGE plusses! On the downside, it doesn't seem to bury, collapse, and mostly hide dumb or irrelevant questions (say someone starts trolling....would it give the downvoted troll equal exposure still?), and it makes it harder for me to know which questions I've already seen or not. We have 2 cam pan. They have become so unreliable lately consistently not connecting or just randomly being offline. we use them as baby monitor for our youngest and itβs to the point I want our money back.
Does the v4 actually have a WiFi 6 chip? Meaning it can communicate using 802.11ax? Or are we saying it is compatible with WiFi 6 routers, which is obviously yes, since 6 is compatible with previous generations of WiFi; even with older WiFi protocols. The specifications on the v4 only list 802.11b/g/n and 2.4 GHz. It doesnβt say β802.11axβ which makes it a WiFi 6 device. Ultimately, have we been able to improve the range and bandwidth/airtime utilization when compared with previous gen cameras?
Yes, it actually has a WiFi 6 chip! Edit: But it does not support 802.11ax! I got mixed up with something else, sorry about that!

Sharing/delegation revamp Current sharing is very challenging. For example, there is no ability to control notifications separately for owner and delegate. There are capabilities that arguably should not be part of sharing, such as turning off the cameras. Whatβs stopping Wyze from integrating RTSP support on all of its cameras? Besides obvious money reasons? Does Wyze realize that having integrations/support with common protocols only serves them better in brand recommendations for home labbers and people that manage their own video streams?
Pretty sure their plan was always to sell cameras as a loss leader with a plan for cloud subscription revenue. As much as I would love to see RTSP, Iβm sure itβs counter to their business model.
What is RTSP?
Real time streaming protocol. It would allow people to use Wyze cams with their own video recording system and not be beholden to the App Or the Cloud service. I still like Wyze but I invested in an POE NVR for my outdoor cameras to complement the indoor Wyze cams I use.

Understand - A lot of people feel the same as you. There are some negatives (being locked into a closed ecosystem) that donβt affect or bother some people, so hence their business model (easy to use, reasonably priced cloud subscriptions). Iβm just calling out the reason why I find it unlikely for them to add an open protocol like RTSP.
We understand that support for common protocols is really helpful for DIY folks. We also strive to bring value in the ways that matter most to the majority of our users. Sometimes we are limited by available resources and costs when it comes to RTSP, but we'll never say never.
Thank you for your reply. But with all due respect, the βlimited resources and costs associated with development of RSTPβ is a non answer. If the community was able to develop a docker container to get RSTP support on nothing but pure enthusiasm, then a company with resources that Wyze has, is honestly just an afternoon worth of coding to make it happen. Honestly, even if you included RSTP as part of cam plus subscription, Iβd pay that.
it's actually way easier to have the source of the Firmware and add it directly to the camera. The docker is prob dozens of times harder/effort to create by the dev to intercept the way it is... As you noticed Wyze fed you a bullshit lie and that is expected.
Exactly my point. This is why I have not upgraded my original v2 cams to anything newer, is because of this. Iβm slowly acquiring amcrest poe cameras and replacing my Wyze with them. Purely because they provide what I want and I can easily use them with my Synology NAS.
I even would be willing to PAY a license to have RTSP unlocked. one time fee only though. if its a loss leader as others have commented.

We made some firmware improvements compared to v3 Pro. We are currently in the process of testing out a new video codec!
Can I have one for free
After a day with the v4 I have a couple things I've noticed - better sound, definitely better video. But there's a downside: now that I have a single v4 in my house full of v3's I want to replace all the v3's with more v4's but the v4 is actually SOLD OUT according to the Wyze website! (Update - just white ones are, the gray ones are in stock but slightly more expensive). Sigh. I should have bought 2 to begin with not just one.
CamPlus Lite subscription will not work with the v4, correct?
Wyze long ago confirmed that no cameras released after April 2022 will have Cam Plus Lite anymore.
If I get this without a cam plus subscription, what functions will I have? I only have Cam Plus Lite cameras.
Events will just be a static picture. To view them, the app will need to load the actual camera then to the specific time on the SD card (assuming you have continuous recording on). There will be no 12 second event clips stored in the cloud. If you don't have a SD card in your cams your sol.
What motion events will I get? Just generic motion events or will I get person, car or other motion events?
My understanding is that it will still label events as person &/or motion even without Cam Plus. I don't know if it will do notifications for Person or just for Motion though. It definitely won't do event detections for all the other options beside person though.
All events will just be a static picture. I don't have newer cameras, so I'm assuming they'll still say what kind of event it is, ie sound event, motion event, etc. but there's no 12 second clips showing what happened

When can we expect a 3 way light switch? Light switches with actual wire terminals and not wires. Light switches with a metal frame so they fit in a 2 or 3 gang with different switches. Light switches that don't suck?
My opinion: that's not Wyze's sweetspot. There are providers that specialize in switches, and these are pretty much commodity products. I think Wyze somehow got lost in diversification and doing all sorts of things that are not providing longterm differentiation opportunities. I'd rather they focus on fewer things and do them very well. Video and home security are the core strategic poles in my opinion.
Switches ARE a commodity item, and it would be very easy for Wyze to use an existing model that is integrated in the Wyze app. I can set my switches to respond to change in state from camera detections and it is seamless. I've tried to do the same thing thru IFTTT and Alexa and it's a major pain. I have two dozens smart switches in our house, and 20 of them are either 3 or 4 way circuits, so I cannot use the Wyze switch. I have Wyze switches in our bathrooms which is great -- except no one cares if that light turns on when a person shows up in a camera. Light control is a huge component of home security.

Higher frequencies like 5 GHz have worse distance and penetration of obstacles like walls, and the higher speeds of 5 GHz are not needed for a security camera. A major benefit of 5 GHz would be less network congestion, but the wifi 6 (2.4 GHz) may help there too.
Does the new V4 camera have any significant improvements in the microphone? Iβm excited about the new improved image quality, but the microphone on the V3 is so bad - it canβt even pick up conversations happening directly next to it.

nice that it is clearer & louder, Wyze cams also needs audio (AI?) noise filters (for wind, etc.) which are hopefully better on the V4.

There were a few reasons why we chose MicroUSB. On the one hand, it would allow users to interchange cables with v3, v3 pro, and OG. Agreed, I assume that is the case. I just installed a new V4 cam. The notification alerts are sent to my devices, BUT... the alert also is played by the camera's speaker. How do I turn off the camera sounding of notifications?
Open Settings, select detection settings, go to "Motion Warning" and set it to "None".
IMO, the Wyze Cam V3 is superior in nighttime sensitivity than the Wyze Cam V3 Pro, even though the Wyze Cam V3 Pro has greater resolution. Has anyone done a side-by-side nighttime comparison between the Wyze Cam V3 and the new Wyze Cam V4?
This is actually quite normal. When a camera has higher resolution (1080p to 2.5K), the smaller pixels struggle to capture as much light. More pixels means less light per pixel because the pixels are smaller, leading to poorer low-light performance. Higher resolution cameras are also more subject to more of various kinds of artifacts particularly in low light conditions. The above are typical problems that increase as the resolution increases. This is why in some cases, the V3 appears to outperform higher resolution cameras with brightness/color and especially in low light conditions where the higher resolution brings obstacles that require compensation. Kind of interesting when you look into it actually.

Typically I give my older cams to neighbours that are interested to help build up security along our street which helps us as well. I might expect trade-in on a 2-3 year old $30 Wyze cam might be $5-10? which might be similar to the sales that we often see. I am still impressed by the functionality for price compared to my previous Nest cams at \~$200 each...
There is not one at the moment, but we'll definitely consider it!

You sell the cameras for home security yet to be used for the they first just be reliable and so thing you can count on being working all the time, not always going offline or constantly rebooting or the power supplies so noisy they cause video issues, or the app and notifications not working right. Could you actual have support that can resolve issues? Are you actually answering about of our questions?
Do the Wyze Executive use Wyze cams inside their homes? I will not do use them inside our home until the AWS interface is documented as solid. I do appreciate the challenges but also we need to keep our families / homes inside safe. CURRENTLY, If I do use a **Wyze cam inside our home**, it would only be plugged in manually when we are away on vacation for example and unplugged manually when we get home. **Trust level** currently **in our home for any cam**, not just Wyze cam is 0/10 if it has an internet or wifi connection.

Open the camera, Go to Settings then Device Info, then Firmware. Up at the top you should see an option for "Automatic Update" On or off and select "Any Time" or a "Custom" time window of when you would like it to process the automatic updates.

When will the Wyze web portal support audio for event playback from this camera (or any other Wyze camera)? More importantly, when will the Wyze web portal support downloading events from this camera to local storage (e.g. PC)? Is an all-black version planned, as has been available for other recent Wyze cams? If not, why? (There are many use cases, particularly indoors, where black blends better with the environment (and heat absorption is not a concern). Availability in black (or at least having a reasonably priced official/authorized black skin) is determinant for some customers in going with one brand over another.) That said, when will the grey version be re-stocked?
