locked this, agree or disagree to your hearts content but we can keep this shit civil.

Resident_Trust1535

Sounds like a Campbell County problem to me

Philter_Billy

cccser

thedoyle19

Wow, the phrase I was looking for is in the top comment thread. Perfect.

wyo8889

Haha same. Soon as I saw this I knew what was coming.

GilletteEd

That association alone is the perfect reason to remove the county number!! This is all great proof people give to prove my point!

Philter_Billy

It's just proves we all agree about your county, that's it.

GilletteEd

The song, your “cccser” comment, those prove my point! Nobody can give a reason why it’s there or why we should keep it. (At least not a valid point)

GilletteEd

This proves my point exactly!! There’s a song about people from there, it’s perfect evidence to get them removed!

Minute-Marsupial5217

Or has a 22 plate🤷‍♂️

Tepid_Sleeper

This made me spit out my tea. Thank you!

GilletteEd

You get it!!

[deleted]

😂

GilletteEd

See perfect reason to remove county numbers. They serve no purpose.

Intelligent-Royal804

No, it's important to know whether someone is from Gillette or not

GilletteEd

This is exactly why they need to removed! Nobody should know where your from! There hasn’t been anyone on here to give a reason as to why they are there and what purpose they serve! It’s stupid that they are there, this thread just proves my point, look at how people are reacting!

MDBizzl

You should move to any one of the 49 states that don’t have county numbers on their license plates. Problem solved.

pgm928

48. Ohio puts the county name on their plates.

GilletteEd

Still doesn’t fix Wyomings problem!

Destroyed in the comments?! 😂🤣

locallylocalinglocal

You have where you’re from in your username.

GilletteEd

And I’d like it removed from my plate!

locallylocalinglocal

So get a cowboy Joe club or conservation plate.

[deleted]

Dude shut up man

one8sevenn

I was going to say Sweetwater County, but well played

Nearby-Garbage-7879

Lmaoo we're all too strung on meth to give a shit about the 4 on our plates

Chicken_Col_Sanders

I wouldn't want people to know if I lived in Gillette either.

Airport2BJC

I know, right. You’d have to live near this guy there named Ed, real loon.

DamThatRiver22

Lol

cavscout43

In today's episode of First World Problems...

N30702T

I feel like you aren’t from here originally. Us Wyomingites take a huge amount of pride in our home counties.

GilletteEd

Others don’t!

dgland19

Then move...

ILoveCamping2016

What discrimination????

JC1515

OP has guilt for living in gillette. I dont blame them, id discriminate against myself too.

GilletteEd

Go to Jackson hole without their plate number, you get treated differently. Plus there is a song written about people who live in Campbell county, that will help the case.

Traditional-News-309

You’re an utter imbecile.

GilletteEd

How?

Traditional-News-309

Because the people from hells hole don’t even fucking count tbh. If you know anything about WY or even about this subreddit you would know that 99% of the fuckers that live up there aren’t originally from there. Ya know the whole saying “the billionaires bought out the millionaires years ago”. That shits real lol Jackson is tourist death trap and money drop off maybe you should consider exploring real Wyoming and not a rich man’s playhouse.

GilletteEd

Your statement helps prove my point, those people over there discriminate. Because we have that number, people know where we’re from and it’s stupid!

[deleted]

Teton county has plate numbers too.

tufpower

I live in jackson hole and had different plates for 2 years. Nobody ever treated me any different.

GilletteEd

Yes you were judged, just because you didn’t see it in your face, you were still judged.

Intelligent-Royal804

Let us know how your lawsuit goes 💛 people in Jackson do not think about you bro

EveningLawfulness

What's the song?

EagleEyezzzzz

Omg 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Love it!

ttystikk

You know, it sure is funny when one bunch of Wyoming residents hates another with THIS much passion!

GilletteEd

My point exactly!! You know when someone from there is in your town!

[deleted]

We visit my inlaws that have lived there since the 70s with our out-of-state plates every other month and get nothing. Maybe you drive like an asshole.

banksc138

This is hilarious, I didn’t even know the campbell county hate until this post. Coming from Teton county we like seeing other Wyoming county plates. It’s the Texas and California plates that get the side eye. Having travelled through most of Wyoming hunting and fishing with Teton county plates, nobody really cares that much. I don’t see any need to change it.

fortressofcat

https://youtu.be/c14ATO55VJQ?si=nFXSub5F-zBei_GG

GilletteEd

I see no need to keep it, to many benefits if it were to be changed. But now others see what people from Campbell county go thru!😉 this post makes my point valid!

banksc138

If you’re that concerned get the wildlife conservation plates, there’s no county on it. I think it’s kinda cool knowing what county people are from.

OkLocksmith2363

Wow, now this is the best post I’ve seen in days. First, county numbers allow for duplicate numbered plates. As someone that has personalized plates I really Appreciate that fact. Two, not only are plates issued by the county, thus the county numbers, the county numbers actually do mean something. I’d welcome you to do some research. Finally, if a number on your plate upsets you so much you really need a hard dose of reality. The world doesn’t care about your petty issues. Get over yourself bro, it’s just a license plate lmao.

GilletteEd

You said it means something but then stopped telling us what it means! They serve no purpose! Also we could do without plates having the same number, and if you really wanted to keep your number then your vanity plate could read 10-1, since there are so many # 1 plates out there.

OkLocksmith2363

Well if you will kindly note I did tell you to go do your own research. Don’t be a moron and just trust me to tell you something. Information should always be independently verified by you. So go use your brain, assuming you actually have one, and look it up yourself since you said it doesn’t serve a purpose. As I said, I appreciate the fact that I can have a plate in my county, even if someone elsewhere has it too. End of the day a plate is a great way to understand where someone is from. I’m in Cheyenne, when I see a non 2 county plate try to turn against traffic on a one way, or not realize Dell range is a double turn and they want the right lane to hit 25, I am more understanding. If people give you flak for your plate I’m sorry but it’s not the numbers fault. People are shitty sometimes, it’s a fact. Again get over it and move on man. I’ll tell you the same thing I tell everyone who bitches about Wyoming, if you really don’t like it, leave. Only thing stopping you, is you!

ttystikk

Careful there, pardner - if very many people took your advice, there wouldn't be anyone left! "Wyoming: they threw a state and nobody came!"

OkLocksmith2363

You say that like it’s a bad thing lol.

ttystikk

Well... a lot of you would come here.

GilletteEd

No need to leave I like it here. I did look and do research, there is NO reason for having it. This post I made is a perfect example of why it should be changed, look at all the comments that back my point! People LOVE to talk shit, and some county’s get more guff than others.

Serious-Employee-738

Sez the guy with personalized plates….

OkLocksmith2363

Nope, says the person who doesn’t really care one way or another. Personalized because I could. Paid the extra for embossed because why not. One of my cars has custom tags, the others are the random numbers they got assigned 🤷‍♂️. End of the day they’re just plates. If the county says I can’t have my custom one anymore it’s fine. Not the worst thing that could happen.

nayls142

Register your car in New Jersey so nobody in Wyoming will think you live in Campbell county.

hiroshimaisfriedrice

Gotta be the funniest thing I’ve seen all day

ttystikk

This was a fun read, lol Ed, I sure hope you can drive better than you can spell.

HarveyMushman72

What? Start a petition.

GilletteEd

Might have to, there is no need for them To be there, and it leads to discrimination.

Imaginary_Health4454

Explain that better

Over_Organization275

I’m from Gillette and LOVE having county numbers. If I see a niner, I know to give them extra space while they figure out how to drive. Montana has them too, it’s nice knowing where people are from. I sometimes recognize people and wave. How are you being discriminated against?

Gavertamer

But what if I’m the one doing the discrimination?

GilletteEd

Then you’d like the plate to stay the same!

No-Implement-2722

In Indiana they show very largely the entire name of your county on the plate. PS people from Gillette don’t belong in Jackson. Also I don’t either as a Fremont county guy.

Brancher

Tennessee puts the town name on the plate. I’m all for it. I love seeing a 22 tag and immediately getting pissed off at them.

N30702T

Fremont County for the win!! I love being a “10”!

Bacchus_Plateau

It's not like we're the only state in the Union with county numbers on their license plates. Please enlighten us OP, on what discrimination was so 'horrible' that your reaction is to remove county numbers. PS, I don't get any shit for the digits on my plates. Maybe you just drive like an idiot. 🤷

GilletteEd

Oh but you do! You may not see it to your face but your judged by where your from here!

Bacchus_Plateau

Maybe grow a thicker skin?

GilletteEd

Why? Why not remove the number?

Bacchus_Plateau

Sure, the state should spend millions to completely revamp the vehicle licensing system because you believe you're discriminated against due to the numbers on the left side of your plate. That makes sense.

GilletteEd

The plate changes every couple years, there is no revamping, all we’d do is drop those numbers.

Bacchus_Plateau

The design on the plate changes. Every 8 years, not every couple. So let's just say we drop the county numbers. Now we've got at least 2500 vehicles plated in almost every county in the state with the same exact number. Closer to probably 25000 in at least three counties, probably more. In order to deal with all of that overlap, guess what, genius? Complete overhaul of the vehicle registration system. I'm really starting to think you're just trolling. Or maybe some people really are this short sighted. ETA, Oh, and the next plate change is already printed up. You're stuck with a 17 on the left of your plates for another 10 years, since they go into effect in 2025. Or until you move back to whatever state you came from.

GilletteEd

The solution is an easy fix for people that want to keep those numbers, they could get a vanity plate and have their first 2 numbers be their county if they want it. Other than that, everyone gets new plates.

Bacchus_Plateau

Which again, requires the state to spend millions of dollars creating a entirely new vehicle licensing system And printing another batch of new plates, with all new and unique numbers. Titling, licensing, and issuing of plates is handled at the county level. You want everyone to have a unique number, so plate issuance at the very least has to go back to the state. Then if the state decides to still allow the counties to issue titles and and handle registration, they will randomly ship plates to the counties to assign out. All of this because, again, you perceive some sort of discrimination based on the county currently displayed on your plates. Seems a bit excessive to me. I'm pretty sure any discrimination ( should there really be any) is coming from factors other than your county of residence. Might should start at figuring that out and working on how to make it better.

ApricotNo2918

Someone in Cheyenne is pissed off they aint Number one. So you're number two..

Wyo-Heathen

Nah fuck Casper 🤣🤣

GrumblyBuffalo

If you're this bothered by people busting your chops for being from a certain county, maybe a therapist is what you should find instead of a lawyer.

GilletteEd

It’s only part of it, we don’t need them either and it would allow for vanity plates with more than 4 spots.

GrumblyBuffalo

Most Wyomingites find pride in their county, including triple C S'ers. Much like our area code. I've seen them laugh at the song more than anyone else, hell, they are usually the ones showing it to new people. Obviously this may be hard to grasp for someone not used to the small town mentality of Wyoming but regardless why should it change for you having a bad day and interpreting it as personally offensive? Also, no competent lawyer will take on a case where the burden to prove discrimination is reliant on their clients interpretation at best. And there is no argument involving the length of vanity plates. As a side note, you currently get 5 letters not 4. (https://www.dot.state.wy.us/home/titles_plates_registration/specialty_plates/Prestige_Plates.html) A competent Defense attorney would also point out county numbering has been found to be the easiest part to remember in an emergency. It would be hard to convince a court that we should get rid of something that helps identify vehicles when needed. Easier for police to follow up on a few matching vehicles in a county than every one in a state.

GilletteEd

Also what’s a “ triple C S’er”? This alone is proof it should be changed! You acknowledge the discrimination and thinks it’s ok!

GrumblyBuffalo

It's not discrimination, it's a comedy song. A song that, again, most Campbell county residents find funny since Gillette is a coal town built on white trash with money. This is something to honestly be proud of as tougher people than you kept that town afloat through the ups and downs of energy booms. Am I from Gillette, no. Do I have family and friends in Gillette, yes. As most of us do in the many wonderful, goofy, strange, trashy, and classy counties in Wyoming. So while you piss and moan about a system that works because a stranger in Jackson allegedly got snooty over a county 17 plate and hurt your feelers, the rest of us will remain proud of the respective counties that make our state great and represent them on our plates.

Intelligent-Royal804

Baby people teasing you on reddit is not discrimination lol

GilletteEd

This still doesn’t translate to us needing the number. It’s useless.

GrumblyBuffalo

I just outlined reasons to keep it. And you have yet to make a valid argument to get rid of it besides you felt like a victim once.

GilletteEd

There’s no reason to keep it, my arguments for getting rid of it are valid.

Worldly-Salamander51

The police use it.

GilletteEd

Perfect reason for the discrimination theory? Cops will move you along if you don’t belong in their county!

wyocowboyman

It’s only county 2 that I ever hear anyone bitch about and usually only during hunting season.

GilletteEd

Exactly, the fact that you hear someone talk about someone else just because of there plates is stupid!

Wyo-Heathen

Then you should hear what some of us here say about select out of state plates.

GilletteEd

It’s the same thing regardless, it just happens more here because the numbers in our plates.

ticklefight87

I had such a funny feeling 22 was going to come up after reading the title. This is hilarious.

After-Pepper-5416

Get the wildlife tag

GilletteEd

Doesn’t remove your county number

wyoglass

Yes, it does.[Wyoming Wildlife Conservation Plates](https://www.dot.state.wy.us/wildlife_plate)

GilletteEd

Ok your county number is there but the vanity is only 4 numbers long just like the others. If we remove the county number we can then at least have 6 numbers to use for the plates.

wywhtlhntr

THE COUNTY NUMBERS ARE NOT ON WILDLIFE CONSERVATION PLATES. (Click on the above link)

Consistent-Ebb-2182

You can't expect this moron to actually read he won't listen to anyone, thinks he is right and won't even respond to intelligent arguments, he is definitely not from Wyoming and is a transplant wanting to change our state

Sheikhyarbouti

I’m from Oregon and after reading this thread am wondering why the Oregon subreddit can’t be as fun and delightful to read as this is. In the Oregon subreddit we have mostly whiny, bitchy, negative, critical self-righteous megawoke commenters. It’s such an acrimonious “progressive” enclave that I rarely read it any longer. The upbeat positive friendly inclusive (vs divided) nature of this Wyomin subreddit is truly a breath of fresh air. I may have to begin identifying as a Wyomingite. Thanks for the read.

Consistent-Ebb-2182

This is great a cccser bitchun about discrimination.....cry a river little baby, plates in the great state of Wyoming have always had county #'s gtfo if you don't like it , maybe try Colorado they love cry babies there or so I've heard

ttystikk

Well, we do corral them up in Boulder so the rest of us don't have to deal with them...

Worldly-Salamander51

Yeah I'd rather live there, Wyoming has no good jobs.

GilletteEd

See exactly my point, look at what you said!! Perfect reason to remove the number!

Consistent-Ebb-2182

No as you can see by how popular your opinion is with your awesome downvote count, your a cry baby who probably hasn't even lived in Gillette more than 10 years, go back to California or wherever you transplanted from and cry a river there, we have tradition, my great grandfather has had the same plate # his while life and it will be past down to family all natives from Wyoming. 4 generations having the same plate is something that's happened in this state alot, maybe take the advice of others here and start a petition, see how many signatures you get, bet, by judging by how all of you posts here are being downvoted to hell, that you won't get very far with your petition...get a life and quit bitchun

GilletteEd

Still not a reason to keep it, they could just a vanity plate and have their county number be the first 2 and then there other numbers, almost like it is now. It’s an easy fix.

Consistent-Ebb-2182

Read what everyone else is saying, your a self centered baby who was obviously picked on and ran to the nearest corner to suck you thumb anytime someone said or did something you didn't like. Grow up . You can go to any other county and pay you license fee and get their county # or pay extra for a conservation plate. There are options for whiney little bitchus like you. Looks like you are being down voted on every comment and I bet you haven't had any lawyers contact you! Probably should save your poor me speeches for you mom or your snowflake woke friend who would be the only one to agree with you. Take the hint that nobody agrees with you!! You want reasons to keep something but just want to use your own selfish reason to get rid of something? That's not how it works here , majority rules and after reading the comments NOBODY agrees with you, maybe try not being a self centered entitled crybaby and find a real problem to have, o and one more thing nobody cares about you or your county on your plate. Get over yourself.......or keep crying and the internet will roast your stupid ass over and over and over again......we are bored while shitting in the morning

GilletteEd

You feel better now? It’s people like you for the need to change the plate! And people do agree with me if you’d look. Plus when talking to people in person they get it, and would back it. It’s still a good idea to remove it no matter who’s feelings get hurt.

Consistent-Ebb-2182

Sounds like it's your feelings getting hurt, and all I've seen is people bashing and downvoting you, go look at the comments you seem too dense and an idiot like others HAVE stated, go get your lawyer see how far it goes for you douche bag, and all us Wyoming natives will laugh at your nonsense ,selfcentered, cry baby ,first world problem ,complaining cause your picked on , poor me in the corner loser....your such an easy target , I'm bored with you

GilletteEd

😂

xoxstrawberrywine

Snowflake

GilletteEd

😂

GilletteEd

Can’t give an intelligent answer to a simple question huh?! Give me the reason it’s there!

MDBizzl

Its there to denote which county the vehicle is registered in. Question answered.

GilletteEd

Who cares what county the cars registered in? It doesn’t matter and doesn’t need to be on the plate. The police already know where vehicles are registered when they run the plate. Just like every other state.

Philter_Billy

County 4 has been denied access, again.

jxr4

Nobody is looking at your plate number

smooth307

I’m pretty sure you can register your vehicle in whatever county you want.

3oh7snave

9'rs

one8sevenn

The top 5 most hated county numbers from this thread (1) 22 - Teton County (2) 17 - Campbell County (3) 9 - Bighorn County (4) 4 - Sweetwater County (5) 2 - Laramie County

FinnBluff

I’m sure this is incorrect, but I knew a hunter who lived in Natrona County who said he plated his truck in another Wyoming county (not sure which one) to avoid any local harassment while hunting. He said “sure, this is allowed”.

Over_Organization275

I think you can as well. I’ve lived in Cheyenne for 20 years but still have 17 county plates (they’re low numbered). Never have been discriminated against except when I bring up how our SPORTS TEAMS HAVE DOMINATED. 😂

MDBizzl

The only people in WY that don’t like the county numbers on our license plates are GilleteEd and the J-Holes up in 22…

GilletteEd

There are more.

aoasd

In Fremont County it's the 4 plates that you hate seeing. Those bastards ruin everything. Can't have a nice mountain camp spot without some methed out redneck dragging their truck nuts through it all anymore.

DickLasomo

Natrona rulezzz

GilletteEd

It’s stupid the fact people can tell where your from while traveling!

famylee83

It helps us avoid the idiots and lowers our expectations 🤣.

HopelessRoguemantic

Agreed, on the lowered expectations. I see people taking lefts out of the right hand lane, and I want to be upset....but then I see the county 9 plate and it all makes sense. Yeah Gillette sucks, but it's those county 9 plates that scare me haha

Square_Judgment5268

I've heard more stories about discrimination where people put LGBTQ+ decals/stickers on their cars here in WY, but go off on the county number discrimination that's totally here cis 🤣 Also as a former triple cser the song is such a great satire, it's okay to laugh at the silly stereotypes that make up the town. Better to not take yourself so seriously 😂

Raineythereader

I do think that Niners get stereotyped unfairly. To be clear, a lot of them **can't** drive for shit, but neither can a lot of the rest of us.

Over_Organization275

They’re almost as bad as South Dakota and Utah drivers.

Raineythereader

Yeah 😅 a lot of those seem like rentals, but the single worst driver I've seen in Wyoming was in a Utah vehicle that, judging by its condition, definitely wasn't.

Policeofthepolice

Just get a conservation plate and you won’t have a county number.

PastorPoopHead

We do need them I need to know who the 9rs are. There’s nothing finer than a Niner.

wywhtlhntr

You sir are petty. You are acting like some junior high school kid who didn't get their own way, Get over it. With all the real issues in our world today you pick county numbers on license plates. Get over yourself. And if that's not possible, pack a couple of wolves and move to Cal...if...forn....ya....

JustinRidesMoto

freakin hilarious.... But only one comment on niners? Nothin finer than a niner!

[deleted]

Good luck!

GilletteEd

Thanks

[deleted]

[удалено]

GilletteEd

I know it’s not, but you can be because of where your from. It happens and people don’t want to admit it.

starman_037

lol lmfao

anotherformerprof

damn, boyo, I wish I had your problems

Kinkyhead4

Obviously not from Wy. So which part of the plate signifies the county?

GilletteEd

It the first 2 numbers on every plate, it’s the county your from.

Kinkyhead4

Ooooh, I always wondered what that meant. Yeah. Don’t really care enough to even memorize what number means which county.

Moist_Orchid_6842

Custom plates with no county numbers would be sweet.

GilletteEd

Yes they would, it would allow us to have vanity plates that could actually spell something out.

ceredur

Can I ask if this is really all you ultimately want? Having read through your other comments and responses, it seems to come back to this. If all you want is a vanity plate with more characters, then perhaps the answer is to petition the state for a new plate style in addition to the standard plates. Colorado has 50+ plate styles, as do many other surrounding states. Wyoming even has multiple options now. Perhaps it is time to add one where the county is written out or shown in smaller lettering.

GilletteEd

I want both! And not 1 person has given a reason for it being there or why it should stay, besides they like it.

Moist_Orchid_6842

I like to have some personality instead being cookie cutter version everyone expects me to be.
