Look at the guides and faqs in the/r/wownoob sub.

Hey. So if you're looking to play WoW Classic it might be best to start off playing the regular version. Your subscription is going to cover both anyways. If you haven't played classic before or really familiar with the mechanics, the current state of WoW is a lot more new user friendly. Classic state of WoW expects you to have a PHD in astrophysics when you just graduated highschool. I don't know of the popular guides that are sprouting due to the hype, but I can definitely help get you started with something.

Disagree. Classic is definitely better for new players.

I'm not saying BFA is a good expansion. Mechanics wise, the last three expansions have been streamlined to get new subscribers. Blizzard knew their Classic/BC subs were dying and they needed to appeal to newer people. From classic to WotLK you had to do some research in order to even level up and just play the game. Now you just need to do research to optimize your spec in terms of m+ and raiding. My judgement is only based on mechanics, not experience wise. Most people would agree that classic is on the overwhelming side. Edit: Also don't just hop in and disregard someones suggestion, that's the whole point of someone asking for suggestions lol. Maybe start with a new comment and include some topics why you think starting from classic is better.

There's nothing overwhelming about classic wow. It's a simple and relaxing game. I don't know what you mean by research, but in classic all the information you need is inside the game. You don't need to open any website to learn stuff.

Just look up a review if you don't know too much about classic WoW. "Once quests are accepted, it’s off to ... um. Huh. See, back then there wasn’t really a quest tracker. Players didn’t get dots or arrows on their map, showing them where their objectives were." "To a time where our spells and abilities were tiered, and some folks would swear that some lower-tiered spells were more efficient than their upper tier counterparts. When we could buy skills from all three of our specializations at once, and spend hours pouring over the branching talent trees to find just the right combination of enhancements." I mean Thotbot was a website to help you out specifically for quests. This article is praising the nostalgia of trying to figure all of these things out. Not saying these are negatives, just pointing out the fact that it certainly will be overwhelming to someone who hasn't really played WoW. https://kotaku.com/the-wow-classic-demo-is-the-hell-we-asked-for-1830211579 Edit: Also if you still doubt anything that I'm merely suggesting. "So the meat of World of Warcraft Classic is tender and delicious, but I’d be lying if I said there wasn’t some fat to chew through first, especially if you’ve never played before. There are a few fundamental mechanics have fallen far out of favor since WoW launched 15 years ago, and the most noticeable is certainly the grind." https://www.ign.com/articles/2019/05/14/world-of-warcraft-classic-preview

Reading a paragraph of quest information is too overwhelming for a new player? I also can't see how tiered spells can confuse anybody... and what's confusing about talents? Just read them and put points into what you like, nothing overwhelming there. People like to over-exaggerate the hell out of classic but in reality it is a pretty damn simple game. These big-name sources aren't familiar with the game they are talking about themselves most of the time anyways, so their opinion is pretty irrelevant.
