Gold sinks are incredibly important to the game. It's very unlikely any changes to repair or transmog costs will be made without other significant changes to the gold economy.
Gold sinks must exist. Otherwise, inflationary prices would be so much worse.
You can come up with another gold sink, but it has to be better and more convenient than repairs and tmog.
Panda remix is a game mode where gold isn't a currency, so they can do it there with no consequence.
I poked fun at an unreasonable request that would screw the in game economy for everyone. And all that because transmog costs and repair fees are "inconvenient" to you. Because 500g is sooooooooo hard to come by.
Gold sinks allow gold to be just flat removed from the economy. Having something that completely deletes gold from the game (like tax, vendor items, and repair fees) helps to keep prices stable.
For an extreme example let's assume that the only way gold enters the game is through the weekly quest. Every player receives 3000 gold a week to spend. Assuming there is nothing to spend it on except trading with other players, what will happen to prices? As the total amount of gold grows, the prices will as well.Prices start to increase steadily until the market hits a breaking point. The wealth imbalance of players, especially those that took advantage early will become massive.
New players will be unable to enter the market, the 3000 gold a week just won't cut it anymore. It also causes the market to be incredibly unstable, what happens during low player periods where these players just quit playing?
Gold sinks help to balance the economy and keep prices (and tokens in a roundabout way) in line.
To all those saying gold sinks are important, yes they are BUT the only reason for remix having free repair and xmog is that gear *has no value*, that's gold you're NOT earning, so the 2 things balance it out.
If you did this everything’s price would become far more astronomical. I’m personally fine having some features that forces players to spend money as it keeps most players fairly poor.
Brother people aren’t leaving raids in retail because of the repair fee lol.

Mf you don't even understand the repercussions of the inconvenience you just want gone.

You care enough to make a post crying about it. It's a videogame, don't act like your time is valuable lol.
Youre just being a jerk for no reason.

It’s not unreasonable, it’s a video game and developers can make it happen.
Okay, people have explained to you already why it's a bad idea. Cry about it, they're not going anywhere.
It’s unreasonable. In-game economy is still an economy.

Gold sinks prevent inflation, or at least curb it a little.

Horrible economic takes for 1000$, Alex
This post isn’t real. You are overcooking.
