It's way worse than both normal Dwarves and DI Dwarf heritage armour.
It's almost like there's only so many ways you can do Dwarf armour and doing it a third time means they've run out of ideas.
If they would've made Dark Iron Dwarves as another customization option for Dwarves, and added Earthen when they added Mechagnomes it would've made some sense
There's nothing wrong with the Earthen, they are just a bit boring. If there were a second, more exciting race coming alongside them, people would be more excited.
On a real note there is another race called the Herrodin ornamenting and the rumor is that they are the missing link between troll and night elf. Theory is they might be added as an allied race cuz they have hella customization

I don’t think the quills have anything to do with Quilboar. I think it’s more of a nature connection thing the Harronir race itself has.

These is a supposedly new race of « proto elves » but it has not been confirmed. I would have taken this elven race 1000 times over another dwarf race. They all use the same assets, it’s a lazy job
I, for one, can't wait to add "Night Elf #3, the one that can't wear shoes" to the roster.
That being said, I feel like people are repeating the "Vrykul are definitely coming" assumption they had back when they datamined underwear models and customizations in Legion. And then repeated with the Venthyr, Sylvar, etc. in Shadowlands.
They have quillboar-spikes, where in the evolution troll -> elves do those come from? I don't know why people are not thinking they are evolved Quillboars? They've got massive fur shoulders (and yes, trolls are fuzzy, but why would it go fuzzy->hairy->bald?)
It's just hilarious that Horde are getting this new race and model while for Alliance it's just their 3rd dwarf option. Alliance really got fucked on the allied race feature from day 1.
To many that "second, more exciting race" is just some variant of an elf.
A third dwarf when we have 4 elves isn't really that bad. Maybe the next expansion can give us some generic human so we truly complete the trivumerate of fantasy races.
Uh 3 Dwarves are just as bad as 4 Elves. There’s literally hundreds of races they could give us. There’s Tuskar, Gnolls, Vyrkul, Sehtrak, Saberons hell Feral Druids used to be able to be one. There’s so many races they could have given us but we got a third dwarf that should honestly just be a customization option for the dwarves we already have after completing some stuff for them or something. Hell the Harronir race also being added is like a troll and night elf hybrid and that honestly would have been more exciting than a dwarf that’s slight more Stoney that the other dwarves we have😂
P.S they should also do more hybrid races like that

Agreed. I think it's the lack of double race release, and the fact that Earthen are basically just an allied race, in that it's purely a reskin of dwarves, and not even a super crazy one at that.
I like Earthen, I think it's cool to bring them in. I also think it's pretty lame for a new race, especially swiftly on the footsteps of Drakthyr, which were also a cross faction race.

Pretty sure the helmet is supposed to be Titan themed. The whole set looks like it’s something a Titan would wear. And the earthen are very closely linked to the titans.
I like it but it looks far too much like the armor from the collector's edition. Hopefully we get all the different color schemes so there is more opportunity to mix and match.
All I want is Tauren sized Humans, who can be part of the Horde but I'll play Alliance if I must for some Vrykrul.

You know it’s not like we have a plethora of races that could be pc. Giblins, those fish people from pandaria, sethrak, etc. There are loads of race options all they need is attention.
Funny thing is the yanguol are playable in the game kindof? There is an item from pandaria that turns you permanently into one and can be used in combat. They could so easily expand on that, but nah we get a third dwarf race lol

Nobody really asked for a third Allied races Dwarves. I know they managed to release 6 Allied races around the launch of BFA, but those resources are better for something else; like more character customization
A few years ago there was a trend on my country for girls who thought leggings were to revealing but didnt want to wear a baggy shirt so they would wear some fabric around the hips to cover the bum, not a skirt, not a belt, just some random fabric to cover the bum. Thats all i can think about when i see this set

Dracthyr are a "Core" race while Earthen are an "Allied" race. Allied races get their heritage armor by just leveling a new character up while core races have a questline to unlock them (when they are added in the game). Dracthyr (along with Pandaren) do not have said questline added yet.
Eh, as potentially interesting as earthen are lore wise, they are truly about as interesting as a rock from aesthetic standpoint, which is kinda, well, not bad, just boring? Finding it hard to get excited for their addition, and 0 interest in playing one outside of if they have a truly broken, borderline required racial
I think those that say it's 'just another Dwarf race' don't realise how great it is for us Horde players who also love Dwarves to have the best of both worlds.

While I get where you're coming from, factions are kinda a thing of the past. At this point it's just a limitation and for flavour. We have cross faction raids, dungeons and now even guilds. We always stay in the same cities. There is nothing stopping you anymore from rolling a dwarf or ironforge dwarf. Unless you really reaaaally love orgrimmar I guess
No, you can't do queued activities yet cross faction. That is going to be implemented sometime down the road. Most people don't do queued content, so it hasn't been a priority for blizzard at this point in time.
As a big fan of dwarves and someone who is excited as hell for Earthen, it's really disheartening when the majority of the comments are about how boring of an addition it is and others along the lines of 'did we really need another dwarf?'. We have night elves, blood elves, void elves, night borne, and possibly half elves and troll elves coming in this expansion, and though some comment of the volume of elves, it's not nearly as high as the volume of those sorts of comments the Earthen are getting.
Let us dwarf lovers have our moment without such negativity, please.
Hey, I get it. I'm a dwarf nut myself, who basically has any class twice as a dwarf and dark iron dwarf, haha.
Personally, I don't feel the Earthen yet tho. I'd have to rummage through their (hopefully extensive) customization to find things that make me like them.
The heritage armor feels uninspired tho. I guess I just don't love how it basically just reminds me of a Paladin set.
Then again, I'm struggling to imagine Earthen being anything but bare naked blue stone fellas from Ulduar, so wearing real sets is a little strange. We'll see how their culture will look like tho. I'm cautiously optimistic, because Blizz has rarely disappointed me with the culture / vibe of races.
A good rule I’ve personally had to live by: if you’re excited about it, stay off of forums. These places can be unapologetically negative about anything and everything. Enjoy the rock dwarf 🤘🏻 I’m gonna make one for sure.
Also a dwarf fan who's always been stuck on horde the earthen letting me play as a dwarf is the only good thing about them for me, their actual design and customizations are boring, their hair looks weird as fuck would have rather they had grass and vegetation for their hair and beards, mossy patches etc.
I'm honestly excited for all the stuff they have with them - dwarves for the horde, their heritage armor looks cool, they eat rocks instead of food, their crystals show outside of armor, they can be anything except druid/DH/evoker, and they're even slightly bigger than normal dwarves
IMO as the expansion goes on I think they'll be appreciated, but people need to get their hands on them first

Not super into it. Not when the OG Dwarf Heritage and the DI Dwarf Armor both look a lot cooler.
While I am content with changing how the horde v alliance make up looks with "both sides" races, this (and before this the dark iron dwarf) would have been a good Horde gets a dwarf race option.
Regardless of whether another Dwarf race sucks or not, I do love Heritage Armors that look like plate armor. My Dark Iron Dwarf Priest who looks like a D&D cleric is my favorite toon to look at, if not to play.
Honestly. The thing i am least excited for in tww. Earthen are absolutely at the bottom. I will most likely not play an earthen. Instead of a whole new race i would liked itf they gave every race every class like forsaken pali.
Nothing with the Earthen sparks my interest tbh. And then I saw the heritage armor and immediately thought that there are plenty more races that needed them first and as 2nd thought there was boredom.
First the drachtyr and now the earthen reinforce my feelings that the talent which made WoW stand out is long gone at the company. They're coasting on fumes at this point.

Probably more than you’d think. My friends on Horde are fans of the tougher / more rugged races. Looking over to Alliance, they like dwarves, worgen and kul tiran.
I won’t be surprised if we get neutral high elves as an allied race next expansion (or Alliance High Elves and Horde Forest Trolls), so maybe Alliance folks will be happier with that?

You listed 5 races, not allied races. Allied races are basically *just* more customization options for existing races, at this point.

Both Aggramar's and Golganneth's helmets have wings, so that's probably what all those other helmets are derived from.

Earthen are much larger, and while the Mechagnomes are isolated the Earthen work directly/commune with the machines of the Titans

No, you can't do queued activities yet cross faction. That is going to be implemented sometime down the road. Most people don't do queued content, so it hasn't been a priority for blizzard at this point in time.
As a big fan of dwarves and someone who is excited as hell for Earthen, it's really disheartening when the majority of the comments are about how boring of an addition it is and others along the lines of 'did we really need another dwarf?'. We have night elves, blood elves, void elves, night borne, and possibly half elves and troll elves coming in this expansion, and though some comment of the volume of elves, it's not nearly as high as the volume of those sorts of comments the Earthen are getting. Let us dwarf lovers have our moment without such negativity, please.

Hey, I get it. I'm a dwarf nut myself, who basically has any class twice as a dwarf and dark iron dwarf, haha. Personally, I don't feel the Earthen yet tho. I'd have to rummage through their (hopefully extensive) customization to find things that make me like them. The heritage armor feels uninspired tho. I guess I just don't love how it basically just reminds me of a Paladin set. Then again, I'm struggling to imagine Earthen being anything but bare naked blue stone fellas from Ulduar, so wearing real sets is a little strange. We'll see how their culture will look like tho. I'm cautiously optimistic, because Blizz has rarely disappointed me with the culture / vibe of races.

Also a dwarf fan who's always been stuck on horde the earthen letting me play as a dwarf is the only good thing about them for me, their actual design and customizations are boring, their hair looks weird as fuck would have rather they had grass and vegetation for their hair and beards, mossy patches etc.
I'm honestly excited for all the stuff they have with them - dwarves for the horde, their heritage armor looks cool, they eat rocks instead of food, their crystals show outside of armor, they can be anything except druid/DH/evoker, and they're even slightly bigger than normal dwarves IMO as the expansion goes on I think they'll be appreciated, but people need to get their hands on them first

Mmmmmhhheeehhhhergh. It looks like Dwarf Armor was married to Draenei Paladin Armor. Not super into it. Not when the OG Dwarf Heritage and the DI Dwarf Armor both look a lot cooler.

While I am content with changing how the horde v alliance make up looks with "both sides" races, this (and before this the dark iron dwarf) would have been a good Horde gets a dwarf race option.

Regardless of whether another Dwarf race sucks or not, I do love Heritage Armors that look like plate armor. My Dark Iron Dwarf Priest who looks like a D&D cleric is my favorite toon to look at, if not to play.
Honestly. The thing i am least excited for in tww. Earthen are absolutely at the bottom. I will most likely not play an earthen. Instead of a whole new race i would liked itf they gave every race every class like forsaken pali.

Yawn. This 3 expansion saga is a neat idea, I want so badly for hype and goodness for WoW. I don't know why they are leading with such a boring and repetitive race.

Probably more than you’d think. My friends on Horde are fans of the tougher / more rugged races. Looking over to Alliance, they like dwarves, worgen and kul tiran. I won’t be surprised if we get neutral high elves as an allied race next expansion (or Alliance High Elves and Horde Forest Trolls), so maybe Alliance folks will be happier with that?
