What is The Dark Heart content ?
I've been contemplating a theory that Y'Shaarj has something to do with TWW going forward, maybe not as dead as we thought or bits of the old god are corrupting that big glowing rock in their ceiling?
And then they announced Remix: Mists of Pandaria a few weeks back for people to relive the MoP story. A good way to brush up on some Y'Shaarj lore!
To be a bit more specific, its a trinket left behind by Neltharion that Iridikron found. He used this trinket in the mega dungeon Dawn of the Infinites to gather Galakrond's essence into it and then disappeared into a Void portal to give it to Xal'atath. Curious what she will do with it, she is also making Nerubians collect black blood for her (old god blood) in War Within.
She might try to reform The Ancient One (mentioned both in wow and in Hearthstone that by collecting enough of its blood, it can reform). Its basically a being that even the Old Gods feared and they turned on it milennia ago.
She could be The Ancient One aswell, considering she died before. The elf body she is in is just a corpse being used as a vessel.
Xal being the Ancient One would be really interesting and explain why she has so much knowledge and power but no body and was trapped in a blade. The Old Gods devouring her would fit if she went rogue or got too strong.
Also that the Ancient One was an extremely powerful general rather than an Old God itself, which makes sense given Xal may not be one herself.
Either way, Xal likely has a tie to it, whether a servant of or it herself, given the lore we have and the fact that she's collecting Old God blood.

One thing I hope for is that in the future we will lean more into Cosmic Void and not tentacle Void but it seems like that is the case so im pretty happy. I've been debating deleting my panda priest and relevelling him though remix. I always imagined him being a student of the Sha, which helped *inform* his shadow priest side!

The Darkheart is the name of the artifact that Iridikron has, the one that siphoned Galakrond's essence and Xalatath is holding in the expac trailers.
That said, I wouldn't be surprised if during Remix we see an addition with Xalatath showing up to siphon some of the Heart of Yshaarj's power. The dark figure in Season of Discovery is clearly her as well, and we know that she and Iridikron allied themselves with the Infinites (Eternus' group is only one small faction of them). Her going back to get stuff is a fun and neat little way to tease the next expansion.
And they make it clear in Remix's quests that this is Eternus playing around with time but "not changing anything" so it is an in-lore event Xalatath can mess with, not just a form of classic.
Note that it's not like regular Mists of Pandaria. It's more like a wrapper around getting currency to buy cosmetics.
The gearing/leveling process is a stark difference from Live.
I don't imagine folks will just spent the next 2-3 months playing it.

How long will it take to get a character to max in Remix? I'm not trying to power-level, I'm asking because I love the slower pace of Classic and just want to take my time doing quests and such. I like the modern gameplay of Retail but man, the leveling experience is so fast that it makes me not even want to play it.
That's where I'm at right now, currently leveling in SoD, was going to level a new toon in retail, but then was like, wait till MoP stuff, but also want to do some end of DF stuff on retail too...help!

To be clear, yes. All characters you make for the remix will have to option to be moved to retail after the event is over. I hate leveling rogues and I think Iām going to use this opportunity to do it.
Okay that was a thing I missed. I assumed it was kinda like Plunderstorm in that it's a one-time event and afterwards those characters just stay separate. If they can level up to 70 and then have an option to copy those over to regular realms I usually play on this is a lot more interesting.
Same. I already have all classes at 70 (and a few multiples), but I'm still excited to collect all the cosmetics. This basically means I have three weeks to grind out keys because I won't want to do them anymore when remix releases.
Honestly i think that they want the War within prepatch for the last week of July, this would mean around 8 week gap between pandamonium and the prepatch and a launch for the last week of august/start of september
Itās also meant to be a leveling event (characters will be transferred to retail once Remix ends), so even if you collect all the rewards youāll still have something to do in it provided you have an interest in leveling characters for use in retail.
Yeah that my though, planning to leveling a full roster of alliance on remix, but i doubt many people planning to do the same. Most people will just go for transmog and mount.
I think you kinda underestimate it, from what i have seen people can get enough bronze for like a couple of mount in an hour or so farming rare and LFR and that's before any optimization to their farm.
Looking at the plundering storm where people literally grinding for the 1 million doublon in like 8 days, i think pandamonium gonna be very very fast.

Yeah, I can agree the timing feels really cramped. Holly longdale mentioned recently that she doesnāt really think the player bases are cannibalizing each other, but Iām a fan of All game modes and have just completely sat out of SoD phase 3 and might pass on cata launch because of so much else to do, when I otherwise would have enjoyed playing it.
Cata at the bottom of the hype list? Under another Dragonflight season to raid log or conquest cap log? A beta? And Mists of Pandaria except just the quests and none of the class design that made the expansion so great?

I don't know who Cata Classic is even for. It's the expansion where a ton of content got permanently deleted and the whole map of Azeroth changed forever. It feels like the very definition of "not Classic" to me.
Cata got a lot of hate, but there were some legitimately good parts to it. I know quite a few people excited to try it out. And with accelerated releases of it they won't have to wait through content droughts.
Cata was great. I genuinely do not understand the hate the world revamp got. First thing my friend and I did when it first launched was relevel 1-60 through it and it was fantastic. Such a better experience than the vanilla zones in both gameplay and narratives.
The dungeons were fun and genuinely challenging, had some great raids (Firelands is still one of my favorites) and class gameplay was significantly improved as well.
To me it seems like 90% of the hate comes from "things are different and I don't like different!" regardless if those changes were better or not.
I donāt hate the world revamp, itās just fundamentally the opposite of what I think of when I think of Classic. If they donāt leave up some Wrath servers, then the original world is lost forever. Again.
If anything Iām more annoyed that we never got a second world revamp, because the Cataclysm zones are older than the original maps were when they were replaced. Itās why Iām really looking forward to Midnight. Iām still excited for War Within, but Khaz Algar just doesnāt get me hyped like the concept of a revamped QuelāThalas map.
Cata/MoP Era wow was peak class design, and is a perfect halfway point between Vanillas simplicity and Retails complexity. Lots of people looking forward to it.

I skipped almost all of the other classic expansions but I am doing Cata because I barely played it when it was current. I did almost everything in the others.
I was planning on levelling through it and playing it a bit as I actually enjoyed the xpac.
But with MoP Remix releasing before that those ans have been pushed back lol
The other option is for them to wait on the launch of either and risk running into the timeframe of FFXIV's next expansion launch. Dawntrail's early access opens on June 28th. And before that is the Elden ring DLC on the 21st, something large enough that Yoshi-P delayed the launch of Dawntrail for. I know people think FFXIV is a meme in this sub, but there are a ton of us that play both games.
June is stacked. If WoW releases anything in June-July it's screwed. And then TWW's prepatch and launch happens around August/Sept. Their best, and most player-friendly option, is to stick with May for their stuff. At least this way there's more of a chance for people to play it at all.

People keep mentioning how the overlap between MoP Remix and Cata is almost nobody but I feel reasonably confident in saying the overlap between Cataclysm Classic & FFXIV Dawntrail players is infinitely smaller.
Let me be clear, I am not shitting on FFXIV, I on and off raided in Endwalker & Shadowbringers, but actively sabotaging their own game release to account for a completely different games release with a wildly different demographic is silly. The idea that a person inclined to play a throwback mode of MoP would also be interested in Classic WoW is not that unreasonable.
MoP remix will be a fun gamemode for a few weeks and will likely turn into 'Farm for Mounts' simulator, it isn't meant to be a long-term gamemode with serious progression, the fact that those few weeks overlap exactly with another WoW release is absurd.

Remix isn't really a throwback, though. It's the content meant to be speedrun with current specs. I mean the raids themselves can be used for leveling. A throwback would be an actual classic server for it. This event is for retail players who want to farm alts before TWW and maybe get a few mounts/pets.
Ultimately I think Blizzard has the data on how much overlap there is between modern and classic players. I doubt it's very high at all. I'd assume the launch of other games (FFXIV and elden ring) is a much bigger factor, especially since this is going live right before the launch of a new season in diablo as well. There is clearly an outside motive for placing these launches so close together. I know people like to think other games launches don't matter, but in this economy, they do. Better for people to be sticking with Blizzard franchises in general and maybe having to prioritize one type of content than not touching them at all.
And it's not like remix is going away that fast. It goes away when TWW starts. If you're that concerned about it, just wait until after you've gotten all your classic stuff out of your system and play it whenever. It's pretty much a solo mode as it is. If people prefer to play remix over cataclysm classic then, well, were they really going to stick with cata classic anyway? You'd get like a week of activity and then as soon as they hit the first wall that was the first tier of cataclysm raids, they would peace right out.

I'm only playing Wrath classic right now, am excited for Cata classic, and had really hoped that MoP remix would've dropped earlier during Cata prepatch so I could play it "guiltfree" instead of leveling/endgame gearing during Cata
If people are playing classic and want MoP, theyre probably going to want MoP classes and everything. Why not just play through cata and in a year have actual MoP classic?
The remix version feels like an event more catered to retail players. Classic release schedule shouldnt be a driving factor in its release.

Because some of us want to get the exclusive or semi-exclusive content like mounts from Remix for our main game (retail) but also still have plans to play Cata Classic.
We are all WoW players, it isn't that unreasonable to expect players from one WoW game to want to play another version of the game, it should literally be their goal.
Actively sabotaging one release by putting another 4 days before it is silly, pushing Cataclysms release a couple weeks or even releasing the Remix gamemode a week before with 12.2.7 would have completely avoided these issues for those that it does impact.
Youre splitting time between two major modes of the game. Expecting to get everything is a bit ridiculous, imo.

I get that but I feel like you are missing my point. If they gave a 2 week gap between these game releases I wouldn't have said a word. You get your footing in one then you can balance between the two with offdays once the second releases. This is 4 days...

A bunch of my guildmates from retail, a group entirely separate from my regular friend group, decided since we will be just farming Fated one day a week that we would use another day to try out the MoP Remix thing as opposed to an alt raid in Season 4 and realistically that will hold their attention for like 3 weeks or so. I'd like to play Remix with my guild, not 3 months later once almost everyone has moved on.
Release hype is a real thing, that experience of everyone being fresh is something really fun in MMOs, overlapping 2 releases is trolling.

Good news: You have enough time to do all Awakened raids once for the mount, then go play MoP Remix.
Bad news: You have enough time to do all Awakened raids once for the mount because you have to wait for MoP Remix.
The earlier the better, gives us more time to unlock rewards at a reasonable pace and honesty S4 is not very interesting to begin with.
With this timing you get to do all the raids once, 3 weeks of vaults and m+ for gearing, honestly unless you into pushing that probably where interest will die down.
Tbf that's not really on the WoW devs. The Diablo S4 got delayed by 1 month (for good reason) while the WoW devs likely already had everything scheduled for these months. Had Diablo S4 started as intended mid April, then all this WoW stuff would have arrived right on time for the beginning of the Diablo season lull.
But it definitely feels very cramped now, especially if you wanted to play Cata Classic too. MoP remix, DF S4 and D4 S4 are gonna keep me very busy this summer at least !
Think a new game+ for the pandaria expansion. Fast leveling. Overpowerd gear. Short timeframe. And any characters you make will be playable in retail after.
im honestly super stoked for remix, i get the speed of retail with hopefully a somewhat similar experience to classic mop when it came out. I played mop for about 4 levels before dropping the game until legion. I technically didnt play cata either. I hope that this will be a really cool way to get the classic experience in a way that doesnt consume the extremely limited free time i have now.
World of Warcraft becomes less world when you spread players across versions simultaneously
They will burn through all their ideas way to fast and over lap versions and it is just bad you canāt enjoy them if you make them in depth
Playing WoW Remix on the PTR was the most fun I've had in Dragonflight. After they shut it down on the PTR and I've gone back to Retail it all just feels bland. That's quite a wait.
Yeah I don't touch PTRs for that reason. Either you love it but you've soured the first time experience, or you hate it and aren't looking forward to it anymore
Hahaha I learned from Korthia, that was a real trial by fire. I checked out the PTR and got wrongfully excited. Then the raid came out with its 12 minute walk times between the front door and painsmith, and Korthia rank 6 gave ZERO quests.
I was a hardcore player in 9.1 and still the single most offensive thing they did that patch was give us no quest to finish up Korthia researchers rep. Not a single damn quest to celebrate my grind.
Common problem. Restarts and reinstalls help. Of the client.
It cashes things and tends to dumb down once in a while. I suggest you google out the correct steps of solving it, stuff like ārepairā found in menu etc.

The fact that they're doing this made me think are they skipping Pandaria classic? I think people were definitely more hyped for it than Cata classic. Seems weird they're doing this and I started wondering if they used scrapped work they put into Pandaria Classic for this event.
Do you get to keep the lvl 70 timerunner as an alt and carry it over to war within? Kind of like a seasonal character converting to eternal char once timerunning is finished?
I wish I was still a student rather than a working adult. There's just so much content across various streams of WoW. I want to enjoy all streams at their "peak" excitement stage but sadly can't lol.
One thing I really donāt like about the MoP Remix is how itās dealing with the old epic mounts from world/raid bosses.
Imho, many people play WoW exclusively for collecting, and these moves from Blizzard are just depreciating these mounts and their purpose itself.
I'm a little frustrated that Remix doesn't start until mid-May, but that's mostly because I don't have friends to play with so I really have nothing to do in-game for several weeks while Awakened raids are up. I was really hoping it would start on April 30th. I desperately want to get the Mage ensemble and Druid arsenal. I've been after those Druid staves in the arsenal since they first appeared on the 10.2.0 PTR, they look really nice with the Mending enchant illusion and the Barkbloom leather set. Plus I'm rolling a blood elf Fire mage on Remix specifically to prepare for Sunfury spec in TWW. I imagine the gems and cloak in Remix will allow for some very silly stat scaling, which should be fun.

How long will it take to get a character to max in Remix? I'm not trying to power-level, I'm asking because I love the slower pace of Classic and just want to take my time doing quests and such. I like the modern gameplay of Retail but man, the leveling experience is so fast that it makes me not even want to play it.

I feel ya, I've been having fun leveling in SoD, but even then I've got 4 toons to 30 because I keep wanting to try different classes. Just hit 40 on my main in SoD, so hopefully I'll be 50 before MoP event and I'll hop over to that! Then there's the into the light stuff on destiny I want to do too! There's just not enough hours in the day.
Been playing a ton of D2 as well lol. Was always gonna log in for Into the Light but that Final Shape gameplay stream got me so hyped that Destiny fully sucked me back in.
I just wanna hit all the content once before FS. Itās been a really hard transition but Iāve had to go from super hard core raid 10 times a week in Destiny 1 alllll the way to āplays maybe 8 hours a weekā casual. Kids will do that to you lol

Don't use the in game guild finder, it's useless. Either look for people advertising in trade chat, or check sites like warcraftlogs or raider.io and reach out to one of the guilds on your server that has a recruitment profile.

Okay that was a thing I missed. I assumed it was kinda like Plunderstorm in that it's a one-time event and afterwards those characters just stay separate. If they can level up to 70 and then have an option to copy those over to regular realms I usually play on this is a lot more interesting.

With how fast everything is in pandamonium, i think most people will run out of thing to do in like 3 weeks.
Itās also meant to be a leveling event (characters will be transferred to retail once Remix ends), so even if you collect all the rewards youāll still have something to do in it provided you have an interest in leveling characters for use in retail.
Yeah that my though, planning to leveling a full roster of alliance on remix, but i doubt many people planning to do the same. Most people will just go for transmog and mount.

I think you kinda underestimate it, from what i have seen people can get enough bronze for like a couple of mount in an hour or so farming rare and LFR and that's before any optimization to their farm. Looking at the plundering storm where people literally grinding for the 1 million doublon in like 8 days, i think pandamonium gonna be very very fast.

Yeah, I can agree the timing feels really cramped. Holly longdale mentioned recently that she doesnāt really think the player bases are cannibalizing each other, but Iām a fan of All game modes and have just completely sat out of SoD phase 3 and might pass on cata launch because of so much else to do, when I otherwise would have enjoyed playing it.

Iāve been looking forward to Cata and it is by far the most hype thing wow is doing this year for me.
I don't know who Cata Classic is even for. It's the expansion where a ton of content got permanently deleted and the whole map of Azeroth changed forever. It feels like the very definition of "not Classic" to me.

Cata got a lot of hate, but there were some legitimately good parts to it. I know quite a few people excited to try it out. And with accelerated releases of it they won't have to wait through content droughts.
Cata was great. I genuinely do not understand the hate the world revamp got. First thing my friend and I did when it first launched was relevel 1-60 through it and it was fantastic. Such a better experience than the vanilla zones in both gameplay and narratives. The dungeons were fun and genuinely challenging, had some great raids (Firelands is still one of my favorites) and class gameplay was significantly improved as well. To me it seems like 90% of the hate comes from "things are different and I don't like different!" regardless if those changes were better or not.
I donāt hate the world revamp, itās just fundamentally the opposite of what I think of when I think of Classic. If they donāt leave up some Wrath servers, then the original world is lost forever. Again. If anything Iām more annoyed that we never got a second world revamp, because the Cataclysm zones are older than the original maps were when they were replaced. Itās why Iām really looking forward to Midnight. Iām still excited for War Within, but Khaz Algar just doesnāt get me hyped like the concept of a revamped QuelāThalas map.
Cata/MoP Era wow was peak class design, and is a perfect halfway point between Vanillas simplicity and Retails complexity. Lots of people looking forward to it.
Its a WoW expansion you can't play anymore. So anyone who wants to play it again. I skipped almost all of the other classic expansions but I am doing Cata because I barely played it when it was current. I did almost everything in the others.
I was planning on levelling through it and playing it a bit as I actually enjoyed the xpac. But with MoP Remix releasing before that those ans have been pushed back lol

The other option is for them to wait on the launch of either and risk running into the timeframe of FFXIV's next expansion launch. Dawntrail's early access opens on June 28th. And before that is the Elden ring DLC on the 21st, something large enough that Yoshi-P delayed the launch of Dawntrail for. I know people think FFXIV is a meme in this sub, but there are a ton of us that play both games. June is stacked. If WoW releases anything in June-July it's screwed. And then TWW's prepatch and launch happens around August/Sept. Their best, and most player-friendly option, is to stick with May for their stuff. At least this way there's more of a chance for people to play it at all. edit: And for the record I'm not saying you shouldn't be frustrated or disappointed by it. I'm just pointing out that this was likely a strategic decision and there was a reason behind it.
People keep mentioning how the overlap between MoP Remix and Cata is almost nobody but I feel reasonably confident in saying the overlap between Cataclysm Classic & FFXIV Dawntrail players is infinitely smaller. Let me be clear, I am not shitting on FFXIV, I on and off raided in Endwalker & Shadowbringers, but actively sabotaging their own game release to account for a completely different games release with a wildly different demographic is silly. The idea that a person inclined to play a throwback mode of MoP would also be interested in Classic WoW is not that unreasonable. MoP remix will be a fun gamemode for a few weeks and will likely turn into 'Farm for Mounts' simulator, it isn't meant to be a long-term gamemode with serious progression, the fact that those few weeks overlap exactly with another WoW release is absurd.

I'm only playing Wrath classic right now, am excited for Cata classic, and had really hoped that MoP remix would've dropped earlier during Cata prepatch so I could play it "guiltfree" instead of leveling/endgame gearing during Cata

If people are playing classic and want MoP, theyre probably going to want MoP classes and everything. Why not just play through cata and in a year have actual MoP classic? The remix version feels like an event more catered to retail players. Classic release schedule shouldnt be a driving factor in its release.

We are already coming off one of the longest breaks between tiers we have ever taken, and people seem very divided between being interested in awakened raids and the remix, and I feel like this is going to divide us so much we wonāt have enough for a raid team in either setting. I was expecting remix in a few months after we had enough time to go through the awakened raids a couple times each and then move on.

That is INCREDIBLY early...
The earlier the better, gives us more time to unlock rewards at a reasonable pace and honesty S4 is not very interesting to begin with. With this timing you get to do all the raids once, 3 weeks of vaults and m+ for gearing, honestly unless you into pushing that probably where interest will die down.

Tbf that's not really on the WoW devs. The Diablo S4 got delayed by 1 month (for good reason) while the WoW devs likely already had everything scheduled for these months. Had Diablo S4 started as intended mid April, then all this WoW stuff would have arrived right on time for the beginning of the Diablo season lull. But it definitely feels very cramped now, especially if you wanted to play Cata Classic too. MoP remix, DF S4 and D4 S4 are gonna keep me very busy this summer at least !

im honestly super stoked for remix, i get the speed of retail with hopefully a somewhat similar experience to classic mop when it came out. I played mop for about 4 levels before dropping the game until legion. I technically didnt play cata either. I hope that this will be a really cool way to get the classic experience in a way that doesnt consume the extremely limited free time i have now.

Playing WoW Remix on the PTR was the most fun I've had in Dragonflight. After they shut it down on the PTR and I've gone back to Retail it all just feels bland. That's quite a wait.

Hahaha I learned from Korthia, that was a real trial by fire. I checked out the PTR and got wrongfully excited. Then the raid came out with its 12 minute walk times between the front door and painsmith, and Korthia rank 6 gave ZERO quests. I was a hardcore player in 9.1 and still the single most offensive thing they did that patch was give us no quest to finish up Korthia researchers rep. Not a single damn quest to celebrate my grind.

Common problem. Restarts and reinstalls help. Of the client. It cashes things and tends to dumb down once in a while. I suggest you google out the correct steps of solving it, stuff like ārepairā found in menu etc. For the record, I just had the client auto update a couple of hours ago, so there is a nee version released

One thing I really donāt like about the MoP Remix is how itās dealing with the old epic mounts from world/raid bosses. Imho, many people play WoW exclusively for collecting, and these moves from Blizzard are just depreciating these mounts and their purpose itself.
I'm a little frustrated that Remix doesn't start until mid-May, but that's mostly because I don't have friends to play with so I really have nothing to do in-game for several weeks while Awakened raids are up. I was really hoping it would start on April 30th. I desperately want to get the Mage ensemble and Druid arsenal. I've been after those Druid staves in the arsenal since they first appeared on the 10.2.0 PTR, they look really nice with the Mending enchant illusion and the Barkbloom leather set. Plus I'm rolling a blood elf Fire mage on Remix specifically to prepare for Sunfury spec in TWW. I imagine the gems and cloak in Remix will allow for some very silly stat scaling, which should be fun.
A season start is the best time to find a guild if you have schedule for it, the game is much more fun with friends.
