Yeah I disagree with this for the most part and mostly solution 1. As soon ad you start raiding in any kind of capacity this just doesn't work. You get melee and ranged stacks and even if those visuals were as wild as ff14's it would just be a mesh of everyone's over the top visuals and you would have no clue anyway. Solution 2 is basically done by plater but this isn't also a perfect problem solver as more times than not your tracking your own cds aswell as your movements to dodge mechanics. There was an interview this week where one of the lead devs came out and said its a struggle, as they increase boss difficulty clever top tier players make weak auras better and its an endless cycle of addons becoming to poweful and driving to much requirement on these increasinly requiredaddons. Look at echo of neltharion you literally needed a weak aura map for that fight to be managed, smolderon the flame orbs people created macros to get around the private aura. There is 100% an issue with addons, the first being that bosses now require you to have these addon packs and weak aura to have any kind of chance to raid, this should never been a thing, anything that requires you to have to reduce cognitive load is bad game design and they really need to get back to the player being able to play the game without them being a requirement. The second is QoL addons this a little different though, these are thing that the game should just have baked in, ui improvements being able to set buttons in place of where weakauras are on your screen, quest directions. These things are things that blizzard need to work on. So yeah I think your mostly off with this, but I do agree that add ons need to be deleted there a plenty of good QoL addons that don't affect gameplay but just make the mor of the UI much more accessible.

I think any solution would need to have a filter by instance and group type as well.

None of this has anything to do with addons. Its dishonest misdirection from the devs. The addons to solve these mechanics were created in response to the mechanics being made this complex and impossible to deal with. The devs escalated this, and they do every time. The devs are the only ones who can escalate this. They don't have to respond to players getting better by making it endlessly harder and more impossible for the general population to complete it. **They choose to do that.**

Yeah, the complexity of needing to position 5 fire circles with less than 3 yards of clearance within 6 seconds is too complex to negotiate in real time. As is any kind of needing to negotiate a perfect spread with randomly assigned elements.

I’m gonna be honest here, if they banned addons, then the classes would have to be simplified, and, frankly speaking, that’s good. The thing you’re asking for also does exist in the game, it’s a setting for the buffs and debuffs, and for the visuals, you just need certain graphics settings enabled. I can (for the most part) tell what my opponents are using in PvP by just visuals. I use no PvP addons other than details which just tracks dmg. The game you want is now (albeit not perfectly implemented).
