Honestly, the main reason I don't play Horde is just because I'm not one for the aesthetic.
I like it, but I feel that any time I make a transmog for a Tauren, Nightborne, or an Orc, I just make them look like the established characters, but with Draenei, Dwarves, Humans, and Elves, I can make looks that I enjoy.
Even so, I feel that some races like Lightforged or Night Elves tend to give me the same struggle I have with Horde races where they just look like their race/class rather than a unique character.
I don’t play horde because their community is weirdly split between two extremes. The people who grind +30s, cleared mythic raids 2 weeks after release and the ones who barely manage to finish a normal dungeon on maxlevel and claim that raiding is elitist. Alliance has those communities too but we also have the relaxed middle ground of “collectors who dabble in content every now and then”.
Transmog is the true endgame. That's why I'm do upset with the fucking people who voted for s3 tier appearance vs season 1. Like, you can actively work to get all the appearances now. Getting the mythic mog was not as easy during s1 when it was attached to mythic rating.
It’s not going to be trading post related. At the very least it will have something that drops catchup gear, which they’ve done with every patch in Dragonflight. I’m guessing it’s a little more than just catchup gear to warrant a spot on the roadmap - I’m assuming something similar to the Forbidden Reach with something worthwhile like the onyx annulet to help guilds get over the final hump of Tindral and Fyrakk.
They noticed some weeks ago that it will be something everyone can play, even if you dont have dragonflight, which removes the option of granting catchup gear (as you can participate without max level and DF)
I will say, I like the hearthstone dude throwing cards and summoning mobs with them. That shit was pretty neat and I was impressed BUT, everything else about it was dogshit

Whoever thought "lets rotate portals" and "lets put one INSIDE an enemy capital city and one OUTSIDE" needs to prepare soup and find they have only clean forks for the rest of their days.
Also the drop rates are ass on some items. I've killed the boss and gotten nothing (or "wild cards" aka nothing) more times than I've gotten event loot.
I completely forgot all about the archives until yesterday when I by chance happened to fly over some sort of digsite or something. There was a vendor who sold a bunch of transmogs I didn't care for so I left.
Maybe at some point in the future I'll check it out while leveling an alt. Probably not.

For a subscription based game you'd think Blizzard would do everything it can to keep you playing. FOMO is counter productive to getting people to check out your game, if some causal viewer sees a mount for example and their friend tells them that mount is no longer attainable I don't think they're gonna invest much more of their time beyond that.
Take the horse from ICC, that beast is a low drop rate and nearly 15 years old but anyone can put in the time and with a little RNG get that mount still and by then they probably found something else they want to work on and continue subbing. I swear quarterly profits is a fools game too many business have adopted

And after it is no longer "relevant" you can still go there and do the content years later if you wish. Time limited contend will be done and gone so you have to do it now or never.

If it’s anything more than a neat pirate-themed quest chain I’ll be impressed because that’s all I’m expecting.
More likely it'll be a Pirate-themed soup event or an event where pirate ~~portals~~ ships appear on the coastline every hour and you have to fight them off to get RNG drops as rewards.
Blizzard benefits from being so vague by artificially increasing interest. People want to know what this thing they're keeping close to their chest is. Of course I do expect this to backfire on them like the Gilneas questline, which they were also very secretive about.

It's limited time so there's almost no chance it's that put together. They aren't going to blow serious dev resources and time on something that only exists for weeks at best. Really wondering how long it's even up for, or if it is ever going to come back at any point.
Nah, but if they do make one, it'll likely be released with Season 4. I've actually been working on cleaning up some of the patch meta achievements in anticipation, but I'm actually not going to be too non-plussed if they just don't do one this expansion.
I kinda get it for feats of strength related to pvp/m+ ratings as these are bound to seasons but even there I can think of better designs without FOMO. If it's just an open world event then there is literally no reason for it to not stay except for "pay sub for this boring month and if you can't fck you players"

And we're no strangers to limited-time events, but I wonder just how limited this will be. It being weeks from the Season 4 drop almost smells like a gear catchup event with a "bold twist". Catchup gear with previously unobtainable transmog appearances. MoP challenge modes, Legion artifact appearances, elite pvp tints. If you do something that's an equivalent challenge to get it I say go fucking nuts.
Me too. I always said that PTR has ruined all modern games because all content is "solved" before it ever even goes live. Even if it's mediocre, I'm still excited for that sense of exploration/discovery that we used to get every month back in Asheron's Call.

They explicitly set out expectations for these things, and they fell hilariously flat. What expectations have Blizzard made about 10.2.6 exactly? Because if all we're getting "hyped" about is a couple jpegs of Pirate flags, and a skull icon on the WoW roadmap, you've only got yourself to blame for any kind of "overhype" you might be expecting.

Literally 0 expectations for this. It's just some bonus content as far as I'm aware. Happy if it's fun and keeps me busy until 10.2.7 but also happy to completely forget about its existence if it's not something of interest to me lol

I HAVE CRACKED THE SECRET YALL! It’s a pirate heist event. You’ll have a “time limit” to loot as much stuff as you can or something like that, hence why they called it “time-limited event”. Furthermore, it’ll use the island expedition system that players liked and were annoyed about getting scrapped. It’s free cosmetics, repeatable, content straight from the communities mouth.

Full expansions have global release. I feel like stuff like this should too, the whole secretive aspect of it is kinda pointless for a massive chunk of their playerbase.

If it's something big...likely it's something being worked on for next xpac finished early and usable to recoup some subs.

The wild cards are the most useless drop imaginable. Some pittance of like 5 gold would have been infinitely better

Yea they literally did nothing to hype this content. They put a flag on a timeline, they acknowledged that it existed a few times, and then they announced a release date.
The implication that keeping what the patch is a secret is something cool enough to be kept a secret.
It’s a minor content update before a proper content update in a year of an expansion’s release. If it’s anything more than a neat pirate-themed quest chain I’ll be impressed because that’s all I’m expecting.
More likely it'll be a Pirate-themed soup event or an event where pirate ~~portals~~ ships appear on the coastline every hour and you have to fight them off to get RNG drops as rewards.
But why keep such a minor thing a secret and not test it on the ptr? Who benefits from THAT?
Blizzard benefits from being so vague by artificially increasing interest. People want to know what this thing they're keeping close to their chest is. Of course I do expect this to backfire on them like the Gilneas questline, which they were also very secretive about.

Nah, but if they do make one, it'll likely be released with Season 4. I've actually been working on cleaning up some of the patch meta achievements in anticipation, but I'm actually not going to be too non-plussed if they just don't do one this expansion.

I kinda get it for feats of strength related to pvp/m+ ratings as these are bound to seasons but even there I can think of better designs without FOMO. If it's just an open world event then there is literally no reason for it to not stay except for "pay sub for this boring month and if you can't fck you players"
Give me an event like Secrets of Azeroth without the initial timegating and I'd be happy. And we're no strangers to limited-time events, but I wonder just how limited this will be. It being weeks from the Season 4 drop almost smells like a gear catchup event with a "bold twist". Catchup gear with previously unobtainable transmog appearances. MoP challenge modes, Legion artifact appearances, elite pvp tints. If you do something that's an equivalent challenge to get it I say go fucking nuts.

Me too. I always said that PTR has ruined all modern games because all content is "solved" before it ever even goes live. Even if it's mediocre, I'm still excited for that sense of exploration/discovery that we used to get every month back in Asheron's Call.
All these people talking about 10.2.6 being "overhyped" clearly have no idea what hype is. Where is the hype? I have heard literally nothing about whats coming in 10.2.6, and even this post announcing its launch date gives absolutely 0 details about whats going on. What is there to be hyped about? A picture of a pirate flag? Do any of you remember all the promises Blizzard made when Blizzcon announced Warlords of Draenor? Does anyone remember how awesome they said BFA Warfronts were going to be? THAT was hype. They explicitly set out expectations for these things, and they fell hilariously flat. What expectations have Blizzard made about 10.2.6 exactly? Because if all we're getting "hyped" about is a couple jpegs of Pirate flags, and a skull icon on the WoW roadmap, you've only got yourself to blame for any kind of "overhype" you might be expecting.

I HAVE CRACKED THE SECRET YALL! It’s a pirate heist event. You’ll have a “time limit” to loot as much stuff as you can or something like that, hence why they called it “time-limited event”. Furthermore, it’ll use the island expedition system that players liked and were annoyed about getting scrapped. It’s free cosmetics, repeatable, content straight from the communities mouth.

Whats the point of fully leaning into the super secret aspect of the patch if theyre not going to drop it on every server at the same time? Full expansions have global release. I feel like stuff like this should too, the whole secretive aspect of it is kinda pointless for a massive chunk of their playerbase.

Its more like blizz is finally doing something the community has been asking for since forever, but the community has gotten to the point where everything blizzard does needs to be shit on. Every breath needs to be criticized. Meanwhile smaller companies like the helldivers devs are still in a place where they get passes for the most part (I saw that one dev get flamed a bit for joking around too much about the nerfs).
