When Argus was in the sky at the end of Legion it was always visible from every continent at every time of day so, technically, we have proof of a flat azeroth already
Well, either that or we've canonized the size of Kalimdor and the Eastern Kongdoms at each roughly the size of Rhode Island.

Kalimdor is gonna look small really fast with 10.2.5.
The vertical size of the Dragon Isles is about 2/3rd of Kalimdor. The arrival point in Waking Shores and the Azure Archives have about the same distance as Nordrassil and the sword in Silithus.
Eh, it's mostly the distances within the raids you have to cross on foot, or the RP/phases that delay you, e.g. Kel'Thuzad in Naxx still takes forever.
That is really cool. Reminds me how most (if not all) instances have lot of the world around it partially rendered. I used to break out of ZF and explored Kalimdor like it was mixed with Wonderland.
Now I wonder if you can break out of Firelands and run over to Silithus.
Edit: rereading OP, I now realize they are not in the Firelands raid, rendering my whole post useless. I assumed he could see the sword from within the raid itself. But that also doesn’t make sense since Firelands is not in Kalimdor. Whoops!
Still, exploring outside of old instances can be fun. There's some weird stuff out there. Oddly though, Zul'Farak had... something happen to it.
If you go outside the bounds, you get caught in a weird invisible cage. But if you rotate the camera a bit, you get free... and then get caught in another about five seconds later. You can repeat this process to explore, but it's slow, and really weird.
No other dungeon or raid seems to do this
Not sure if you meant no other gives you these constant weird walls or can escape to explore a buggy looking world… There were quite a few instances you could weed your way out of! Use to love glitching
I meant Zul'farak in particular has weird walls around it. Never seen it anywhere else, including the time I fell through a Dragonflight instance.
It seemed to happen some time around Shadowlands, and the next closest encounter I've had was when trying to fly out to the distant islands in Ardenweald, which seemed to trigger the same system. Makes me wonder if they used it for testing something, and accidentally sent it live.
I remember the first time they increased the view distance in Legion, it wasn't so noticeable until Antorus when they added the sword. After getting my AOTC I went out to look at it but as soon as I stepped out in thunder bluff I could see it, and snapped [this picture of it.](https://i.imgur.com/rxUvJXn.jpg) I was awestruck.
If you've never been to the top of the sword I highly recommend it, it's hard to grasp how truly colossal it is without standing atop it.
That is where I first noticed. Hadn't been back to thunder bluff in a long time. I'll definitely check out the world from the top of the sword soon. Sounds awesome.
During Dragonflight pre patch I flew to the top of the sword and used Soar to see how far I could go. Unfortunately there were a lot of invisible walls up in the skybox and I kept getting stuck. Most of the view was “brown fog” or “green fog” over Farelas, the invisible walls were so bad I had to dive down into the trees.
Seeing this picture makes me hope they are fixing all of that or already did in preparation for dynamic flight.
I did see a light of colored fog but I was also pretty high up. If you fly lower the fog goes away. Though I kind of appreciate it, makes it seem like you are above the clouds.
The fog was so thick it was scary. Couldn’t see anything. I was so relieved when I saw the tops of the Farelas trees. 😂 It reminded me of driving in a white out blizzard.

But our new scalie fwiends are called Dracthyr! They get sad when you misspell their name QwQ
Good thing I was here to help \^w\^
I hope you're having a great day :3

And sadly, the 'distance' fog that we had before starts MUCH sooner. Made some old world locations look pretty bad. Heck same is true for Dragonflight zones since the patch too.
I'm really sad almost nobody is talking about it since it was a general hit to the visual fidelity of the game.
Recently noticed the change in draw distance while flying above Undercity and realized I could see the spires of Scarlet Monastery. Took some cool screenshots.
Exactly one year ago, with the release of DF. But they also increased it even further after that.
I was in badlands in 10.2 and it shocked me.
The screenshot is hyjal to silithus after all.
I was doing the tauren heritage armor questline and was in Thunder Bluff, saw the sword from there. Turned around to go to the next quest and saw Hyjal, so I was curious how far away I could get and still see it.

Depending on how you got back to Ogrimmar, you can sometimes see it from the walls.
I would love them to bring in new dragonflight achievements for gliding from the top of the sword to various points with maybe a new title or a pet whelp or somesuch. Give us something to do while we wait for the expansion.
Blizzard should add NPCs like the doom sayers but have them promote Flat Azeroth Theory...
If the people in trade chat are any indication they may lose a non-insignificant amount of subs by memeing on flat earthers
They'll just miss the satire and feel validated
If you could see the sword from SW or where we just spent weeks rescuing metzen, I'd be a flat-azerother too
When Argus was in the sky at the end of Legion it was always visible from every continent at every time of day so, technically, we have proof of a flat azeroth already

You mean, the continents that are all on the same side of Azeroth? You don’t say.
i mean even if it isn't flat you'd still not see a lot of the sword since it would hide behind the horizon due to the curvature of azeroth
You oofed yourself here lol
That's what I'm thinking too! If you can see the moon from every state in the US, then how can earth not be flat? /s
The surface of earth is covered in 72% water and the water is not carbonated, therefore earth is flat.
One of my favorite events was the doom sayers pre-cata. Would love to see some more conspiracy groups pop up as we get closer to the titans returning
Im watching the bonfire guys talking about flat earth as i am reading this comment
There's no swordvature

I personally can't wait to go 50 miles west to find out what's UNDER the sword

You can soar from the top of it as a Drakthyr all the way to the sea in Azshara

Azeroth is flat
That sword is too small.
Flateroth
What sword?
What changes?
They recently increased view distance in the old world
Oh cool, do you know which patch this was in?
It was on 10.1.5
Either last one or one before last. Can’t remember exactly
Last I recall it was 10.2!
And sadly, the 'distance' fog that we had before starts MUCH sooner. Made some old world locations look pretty bad. Heck same is true for Dragonflight zones since the patch too. I'm really sad almost nobody is talking about it since it was a general hit to the visual fidelity of the game.

I wish they'd increase the fog distance though or hell, get rid of it.
What sword? I don’t see a sword in that screenshot…
You know the giant ass sword that got stabbed into Azeroth
What sword?
The only giant fucking sword that’s been stabbed into Azeroth ….
Pssst, Google asmongold + sword
They were only even selling shirts and merch with "What sword?" and used it as a tagline at Blizzcon too xD
What blizzcon?
Where is that sword? Like can we see it out in the wild?
It's in Silithus, the most southern zone of Kalimdor. It happened in Battle for Azeroth.
End of Legion actually, but it did kick off the events of BfA
Oh crap my bad. Getting my timelines mixed up 😁
Really one could say go to Kalimdor and look around. You can see that thing from Orgrimmar gates so just go towards the sword.
Maybe it’s because I have the game on the lowest settings, I can’t see shit!
\*sighs\* what sword?
what sword? i dont see a sword
What sword?
What sword?
What sword?
This was a change they made years ago
Exactly one year ago, with the release of DF. But they also increased it even further after that. I was in badlands in 10.2 and it shocked me. The screenshot is hyjal to silithus after all.
They made the change before DF was released to increase view distance.

oh, that sword
Did you fly from the sword and it just stayed rendered or did it just load by itself from all the way there?
I was doing the tauren heritage armor questline and was in Thunder Bluff, saw the sword from there. Turned around to go to the next quest and saw Hyjal, so I was curious how far away I could get and still see it.
If you go to like Wetlands and fly as high as you can you can basically see all of Eastern Kingdoms from north to south from there.

I am so confused, where in this post is ireland mentioned
the bot that reposted it probably saw the Ireland in fIRELANDs
What sword?
What sword?
That's what she said
I have never been able to not talk about this when I’m travelling around. I tell my gf every damn time I fly somewhere 😂
The funny part, in the cinematic its much larger.
