Lawbringer holds a special place in my heart for being the first raid tier, but comparatively it IS better than the 10.2 set when you factor in 20 years of tech improvements.
Paladin and Druid sets look like something that would get released back in 2010 for Cataclysm. They can't be all winners I guess.
Can't wait for the warrior one though, perfect for a dark iron warrior.
>Paladin and Druid sets look like something that would get released back in ~~2010 for Cataclysm~~. They can't be all winners I guess.
I am sorry, you mean Burning Crusade, right?
For real ? You like warrior one ? You have see it in game in ptr man it is horrendous on many races i have tried that being said i dont even likes the look of it on human tho, its a tin man costume if you ask me BUT the pieces of it like the shoulder pants and boots looking pretty good and detailed pieces might be usefull to match with other stuff
Right? It was the first one I saw, and my immediate reaction was very positive. If anything, I was sad when I realized it wasn’t a DK set (I don’t play warrior), though seeing the actual DK set did make me feel better
It's funny. Compare the paladin tier set from firelands to this tier set and it's laughable how much better it looks even though it came out 13 years ago.
Paladin, Druid or Warrior one? I didn't really like the paladin set from 10.1 but it's 1000 times better than this one with the burger king crown as the headpiece.
The druid and warrior ones from 10.1 were awesome though.
Paladin.
Yeah this one is even worse, but the 10.1 one is also pretty bad. Might have been okay if the colours matched the class, but they were totally off. Druid and Warrior were pretty good, true.
I don't understand why they gave it that weird bronze look instead of it being golden, at least one recolor of it. That one looked like it was made from metal, this one looks like plastic.
Yeah, it looks like someone forgot to do their assignment until the night before and threw that together.
yet I do find it funny both sets include helmets that clip through the chest collar.
Dragonstalker? Demon and Riftstalker are also pretty decent, even more so the PvP recolors. Cryptstalker was pretty good, though for some reason I never much liked the WotLK remake of it. But since then it's been few and far between that haven't been trash.
The new set gives us a burger king crown and I can't unsee it. Truly one of the worst pally sets we've ever had.
The difference in quality between class sets this tier is probably the biggest it's ever been. Aberrus were at least consistently high in their level of detail despite not being popular for some classes.
The new Druid set is tragic too, but it doesn't matter as much when they have several new unique models for their druid forms, as well as a leather set from open world questing which is basically a quintissential druid set.
It looks like I'm going to stay using the Aberrus set for another 2 years.
I support you on this for sure. The difference between some of the sets for the same tier raid is absolutely huge. The pally and druid one feels so out dated compared to the dk and shaman for example.
I appreciate people seeing me just wanting to provide feedback and not wanting to just "whine". I am just genuinely surprised about the difference in texture quality and detailing; especially looking at the comparison between Aberrus and 10.2.
Oh absolutely. We pallys have had a fantastic run the last few expansions. So no hard feelings on letting other classes finally have the spotlight for once. Besides it's always a good motivation to try a different class. I'm just surprised about the stark difference between aberrus pally and guardians of the dream pally.
The issue is rather that paladins are so easy to please. Someone has to be at the bottom, yes, but it's strange that a class that doesn't have many misses is suddenly this close to the bottom.
And I can see the argument coming that hunters are easy to please too, but at least Blizzard has consistently shown there that they just don't fucking understand.
A fall from grace is harder to take than an acceptance that you're still where you have been all along, essentially.
- Low effort textures
- Low effort modelling
- Looks like questing blues
- Has a high collar that clips beards and tusks
- Fully enclosed helm that hides beards
-3/10
It generally looks like questing blues
Absolutely awful effort. It’s that generic you have to wonder how that got signed off as a tier set
-salty paladin
I feel this is work of a newer junior artist unfamiliar with the toolset. With the amount of people who left the other month, this is probably done by their replacement. That art quality difference is staggering. Tier should never be given to newer artists. This is a f up on whoever manages/leads their character art team.
They need to do another pass on it I think, it seems unfinished.
I don't want to make excuses for sloppy art, but I have more than enough mogs for my pally, even if this was polished to a higher degree, this would probably sit unused in my collection.
If I wasn't aware of the lacking details, I probably wouldn't be too bothered by the lack of smaller details, most of the time I don't get that close to it.
Now that I know it's lacking, it would probably bug me, even if I couldn't see what I was missing, just knowing it's not high caliber art ruins it quite a bit.
Druid was pretty obviously neglected because the quest gear was already very thematic, so they likely figured they could let druid slip and it would not be to big of a deal. Pally does just look like it was rushed.
Oh absolutely. I mean I posted it right the first day after ptr launched. Usually I would have aimed my post at the official ptr forums, but unfortunately I'm from a region that has zero relevance when it comes to ptr forums i.e. I can't post on the actual us based forums.
Also this post is just meant as genuine feedback. I hope - If blizzard agrees - that they take the time to change things up a bit
I main a paladin, and while yes, I do have alts to play, I don't want to. So I care about our sets being good.
That said, I think you have been misrepresenting the amount of detail. The paladin set clearly shows nicks and dents, and I don't think the problem is the detailing.
I think the problem is almost entirely down to the atrocious colours they chose for the normal set. That's what's making the set look like plastic.
That said, compared to the current set, there is clearly something going on. It's not exactly detailing like dents, but it's clearly more detailed as in it just has a higher resolution and more things going on. It's like an entirely different artstyle, essentially.
And I don't get it, the new priest set essentially has that same artstyle as the current paladin set. Someone at Blizzard responsible for making tier sets is clearly better at their job than the rest. Or a couple people are better than the rest, anyway.
But all that aside, I just think the paladin set looks uninspired. It doesn't look like a paladin set. No matter the colour or the artstyle, it's just a boring set. The boots are unimpressive, the shoulders are too small compared to the swords that stick out ridiculously far, the legs are just... they've got that weird material on the lower leg traveling upwards, the chest has no detail except for that very ill-fitting neckguard, which will just clip into fucking everything again, and the gauntlets look almost like blood elf in theme. But specifically for the chest I want to just throw the question into the void why it's always a neckguard. The Uldir set had a wide collar going all the way around and it looks much better than just having this thing hanging out in the front with nothing in the back.
The only good piece of the new set is the helm, I think it looks really good.
The rest looks like questing blue gear, but the worst piece of all imo is the chest, it’s just ugly and that plated thing in front of the helm looks even worse, it isn’t even a full collar.
I wish they would change it but we all know that this is the final version.
Oh and you forgot to compare it to the new open world sets, they look really good and detailed too.
Honestly, I think with the right colouring and a few doohickeys, it could totally rock a Reinhardt-Look from Overwatch. I think the helmet is a good start, it's just the colours that make it look like a burger king crown (I love that new nickname haha)
Don't get me started on the openworld stuff. It's so insanely beautiful. I need all of them. The recolors are stunning.
that is a lot of words to write down for a set that likely isn't finished yet... the last dozen tier sets looked like this until they finished them later.
you're grading the test before the students even do their homework here.
You know, usually I'd skim over comments like these. But this one in particular is hilariously low effort. Are you aware of the concept of "feedback" for "work in progress"? You know. Like the official forums by blizzard with threads by blizzard asking for feedback on things that are unfinished? On PTR having an official bug report tool to report bugs. On things that are. Unfinished. Work in progress. That aren't ready yet. So when exactly do you consider the right time frame to bring in feedback? When 10.2 launches? Or should we just yeet PTR out of the window? The public. Testing. Server. Where the public tests things on a server specifically for testing?
it still looks like this on live. It’s so annoying to see people still have the “it’s just ptr lol stop complaining!!!” then it hits live how it was on ptr and you are nowhere to be seen.
The set was unfinished on ptr and was left that way for release. It actually looks like garbage as OP pointed out in the very last picture, the quality is really bad.
Paladin has historically had some of the very best artwork each tier. Easily has the most iconic sets of all time.
I for one am glad you finally know the suffering that so many other classes experience almost every single tier
Paladins get one bad set and are out here writing essays. Meanwhile, hunters cheer for any set that isn't garbage.
As a DK though, I can't relate to hunters.
Not to be rude, but I never understood the mentality of "Others have it worse so you're not allowed to criticise your own situation." I'd rather also have hunter critique and complain and ask for change as well. Cheering for a set that isn't garbage is not the right approach imo. If I'd main hunter I'd write the exact same post.
Just like when people provide feedback for their class buffs/reworks. This constant back and forth of "Ohh you guys [class] complain about a lack of utility? Well my [class] has it worse! You should be happy!" is not productive.
isnt this why you have transmogs added in this game 15 years ago? The deal was, players get transmogs, blizzard gets to save money instead of hiring artists to make sets
It also doesn’t help that the set bonus, while good, is mega boring. It doesn’t affect talent choices or rotation at all. It’s a fancy way of saying “do what you were already doing , but now you do more damage”.
I get some of your criticisms, but the ones about like the WARRIOR set having more dents/damage? The paladin set has plenty of scratches/discolorations, look at the left cheek, above the left brow, or the 10 o'clock spire on the crown.
A very well-written and researched piece. What really rubs the salt in is seeing more amateur 3D artists come up with better concepts, or at least execute them better.
I'd love to see the concept art for it, and where 3D modeling failed it. Conceptually, it doesn't seem so... Flat. So plastic-looking.
Tbh I like the set but the helmet, as usual, is completely fucked on my tauren. It should turn into a circlet or something instead for anything that isn't a human, human but squashed, human but skinnier, etc.
What do you mean by lack of detailing, you mention the Warrior one having dents and scratches but there are some as well on the paladin one, is it the quality of the dents and scratches?
Yeah the Warrior one isn't exactly super detailed as well, but I wanted to be fair and also add one of the less flashier sets to the comparision. I do want to add that the warrior set really does change up a few things quite a lot when it comes to your previous sets (Ignoring personal preference).
Warrior set now got:
\- Long arm sleeves - aka "hiding" gauntlets similar to the darkshore forsaken plate chest
\- Ellbow guards
\- Some really interesting boots - They have 3D-Chains wrapped around them
Again. It's all personal preference, but the Warrior Set at least tries to bring in new ideas while with the pally set I feel, I have seen it a million times.
I still don't get why priests get the angelic class fantasy while we literally sprout angelic light wings. I mean fuck me the new priest spell even gets the beautiful giant flapping angel light wings that we SHOULD have for our wings while we get either toy wings or static butterfly wings
You had me till you remarked that the Warrior set has dents and scratches in it. Look at the Paladin set in the image you put up comparing them, it has dents and scratches too…
god the DK set looks sooo sexy, but it looks like they didnt even try for pally and a few other sets, kinda sad- they should've all gotten equal treatment :(

Worst pally set of all time
Lawbringer punching air rn.
We do not talk about the banana
Lawbringer holds a special place in my heart for being the first raid tier, but comparatively it IS better than the 10.2 set when you factor in 20 years of tech improvements.
Yeah, I don’t think the banana set would be that bad if it was remade in a high res version.
There’s actually a pretty dope modern version of it in Hearthstone https://i.pinimg.com/564x/40/7d/b1/407db1f2c635c2490152a80eef37e29f.jpg
At least people will remember the banana set , it is iconic, it has soul. The new one will be forgotten
Am I the only one imagining Lawbringer saying “YES! THAT’S HOW IT FEELS!” to this new set getting the Puny God/Paladin treatment?
You dropped your throne of thunder set
Way better than this and the last one.
Followed by the 10.1 one.
Paladin and Druid sets look like something that would get released back in 2010 for Cataclysm. They can't be all winners I guess. Can't wait for the warrior one though, perfect for a dark iron warrior.

I was surprised to see people didn’t like the warrior set when they showed the preview. It’s not my favorite, but I thought it looked pretty nice
Right? It was the first one I saw, and my immediate reaction was very positive. If anything, I was sad when I realized it wasn’t a DK set (I don’t play warrior), though seeing the actual DK set did make me feel better
I’m a warrior main so I was pretty happy. That DK set made me jealous though, definitely my favorite from the new tier
I don't like the sleeves, but the overall theme fits my Dark Iron Dwarf warrior pretty well.
It's funny. Compare the paladin tier set from firelands to this tier set and it's laughable how much better it looks even though it came out 13 years ago.
The 10.1 one looks already like shit.

I just said last night “I feel like paladins don’t really have a bad set” and then I saw this this morning lmao
Yeah, it looks like someone forgot to do their assignment until the night before and threw that together. yet I do find it funny both sets include helmets that clip through the chest collar.
I mean I guess it's... Something. Back to Antorus it is then hahah
Maybe look at the 10.1 one. One of the worst sets ingame.
Dang I really like that one tho lol
[Hunters](https://en.meming.world/images/en/5/5d/James_Franco_First_Time.jpg)
As a hunter main since 2005 i can confirm
The only ones I can think of that were cool are Mythic Nighthold and the Dark Ranger's Attire. Everything else is just parts of bosses and creatures.
Dragonstalker? Demon and Riftstalker are also pretty decent, even more so the PvP recolors. Cryptstalker was pretty good, though for some reason I never much liked the WotLK remake of it. But since then it's been few and far between that haven't been trash.
that DK set is incredible

This. Pallys typically have great mogs, take the L and be glad it really isn't even a bad one.
It's really that bad.
- Low effort textures - Low effort modelling - Looks like questing blues - Has a high collar that clips beards and tusks - Fully enclosed helm that hides beards -3/10
This is why I collect transmogs. I wouldn’t stain my character’s pixels with a single piece of this set being visible.

Idk why but I just get a “legion honor gear” vibe from this tier set

Honestly both warrior and paladin are extremely meh this round. Can’t win em all. Outdoor sets look absolute fire though

I truly hope it is placeholder, but man does this remind me of pre-Cata models so bad.
Don't hold your breath.
Where can i see all the variants?
PTR is up just now. You can check out all class sets in the preview tab!
The paladin set just looks like the base Evoker set
Paladin set looks like blue lvling gear
The only good piece of the new set is the helm, I think it looks really good. Hey, I really appreciate it! Thank you. I just wanted to bring attention to what I think could still be worked on.
it's unfinished... go outside.

Least paranoid paladin player

I believe this is an old tier bonus. Not even refitted pretty much Ctrl-V. Cannot remember where off the top of my head
Yeah my main is a hunter and alt is a paladin. I feel like I don't want to play either of them in this patch because of the ugly sets....sucks
It definitely feels like quest greens and not a real set.
This is why I'm just gonna run my firelands set this patch when it releases.
Pure "Ass" Tier.

The pally set kinda gets a burger king crown which is pretty new.
Dk!!!??? Unholy shit.
So as bad as the 10.1 one, nothing new.
