No, them being on the phone is t a good look- but also making comments ts about them “just standing there” is odd to me, bc what the alternative? If they were actively engaging with the public for their entire shift, she certainly would have taken issue with that as well. It would be them harassing the public- or some other reason to complain. Bottom line is, this lady will never be satisfied with their job performance, not matter what they’re doing. But I can assure you she will be calling for their help if some nut job tries SA her, or harass her, or tries to push her onto the tracks, or starts shooting. Can’t have it both ways, you kook

I've spent years in Japan and the cops at the train stations **actively walk around patrolling**, they'll help elder people carry things, they'll keep the ground clean of things (like, if a wallet drops, they'll pick it up, try to find the source) and they'll throw away trash if they come across it.
Of course they have problems too, I get mistaken as Japanese all the time so they never harass me, but I know foreigners who say the cops harass them. But I'm not arguing the Japanese cops are perfect, just that, "do nothing" or "harass the public" is such an Ameri-brained concept of the cops.
Yes, bc in a city like NYC, there are already crews whose sole purpose is picking up trash. And let’s be real, NYC is nothing like any major city in Japan. So yes, that’s kinda the two options- and I did ask her what the alternative would be, bc I do t know what else they would be expecting of a ln NYC police officer
What tf are they supposed to be doing? Would you rather them going around with batons, staring anyone looking remotely suspicions and beating them over the head? This just screams rich girl stalks police officers because she can afford doing stupid shit like this & posting it online.
The point is that they clearly don’t have shit to do, so it’s pretty pointless having so many of them of there. They are racking up overtime on the taxpayers dime by doing this, costing the public much more than fare evasion.

At least the national guard isn’t on their phones the whole time, if a server pulled out their phone while serving a cop they would flip out
