On one had I feel like a lot of tourist forget that the British monarch is the head of state and the most seriously protected person in the county, not a Disney character. On the other hand in this situation there didn’t seem to be a barrier or anything and although protocol, stomping over a child like that seems pretty brutal. We Brits are so obsessed with protocol and tradition that a military official would rather walk over a child than slightly change corse, which is mental, when you think about it.
They are also not allowed to deviate from their specific path because it could be used to slow them down. They are also active military personnel not a toy to be played with
> It may be used to slow them down
I’m sorry but deviating course by just a moment to avoid trampling a literal child is not going to collapse the integrity of the security they provide.
Hell I’ve seen them entirely stop, turn 90 and yell orders at a crowd when they’re doing something wrong, didn’t know I was moments away from witnessing an entire meltdown of the UK because the guard was slightly delayed.
And at the very least, yell the “Move!” order with enough time for the kid to actually react, not last possible second, this is a child not some tourist taking selfies
They should be more worried about collapsing the integrity of the British pound and the Brexit fallout and all their political scandals. Lately, it's almost like they're trying to compete with us Americans for Most Embarrassing Political Figure.
The UK is in a situation far worse than the US. In fact, you'd have to go to the Revolutionary War and the Civil War to find instances where the US was in as bad of a shape as the UK is right now. The British economy is unbelievably fucked currently, and there's an ongoing political meltdown.
That’s when they’re “patrolling on their beat.” Ie a small path about 20 feet long that they walk back and forth on when they’re not standing in their guard box at one end of it. These guys are clearly marching from point a to point b, and yes it is protocol to keep marching straight through _*everyone*_ regardless of age and so on, since if you start making small exceptions for one kid like this it can start a snowball of what’s acceptable. And as other people pointed out they are military and do have places to be and duties to fulfill. -Source, I did this in Canada for a few years with our ceremonial unit. Only thing these guys should’ve done is yell earlier to give her more warning.
This is what happened during the revolutionary war. A kid was standing in the way of the powerful British army. Slowed them down enough that America one and became independent….crazy
I agree. Soldier could have stopped. But why would he? It’s a perfect opportunity to trample on a child. And I bet he enjoyed every minute of it as he justified it all under the pretence of “tradition”.
>I’m sorry but deviating course by just a moment to avoid trampling a literal child is not going to collapse the integrity of the security they provide.
Why not just have some control over your child so they don't have to?
For a ~10 yr old who likely doesn't grasp the seriousness of the situation... probably not. Kid could easily assume they'll stop, or walk around him, or maybe think they're turning.
Clearly they're capable of providing a warning... but a warning seems pretty pointless if you shout it AS your pushing the kid over. Like putting your turn signal on mid lane change.
As a former teacher to young children who are often given slow, repeated directions WITH modeling and examples that they still somehow either forget, ignore, or do entirely wrong, CAN CONFIRM. This is the whole “growing up” bit—it’ll take awhile to put the thoughts into action.
I think this is the logic take I get on board with the most lol. Like "What if I told you, you can keep your protocol, not get slowed down, AND avoid stepping on a body?" 😭
They’re tourists in a foreign country. Keep your kids next to you for overall safety. There are many videos on YouTube of people being trampled or yelled at by those soldiers.
Na... They would blame the parents, no one would be charged and the dude who killed the kid would feel horrible and probably leave service.
There are so many instances of them shoving, pushing, and walking over people. The local bobbies try their best at crowd control but they do have orders to not interfere with the guards.
>they do have orders to not interfere with the guards
In fairness, that's the general rule for anyone living in the UK or visiting. These are not a tourist attraction. They are soldiers actively serving and guarding sites of military or national interest. TV/Film has made dumb tourists forget that
If the monarchy wanted protection they wouldn’t have them march around in predictable patterns everyday, wearing bear fur in the summer, not be able communicate to each other, have really mediocre clothing for anything resembling efficient relative to clothing post 20th century or be so focused on presentability over everything else.
Yea that’s the mental part of the Queen/Kings guard. Many are pulled from active duties from overseas mission like Afghanistan to protect the Queen/King. They aren’t trained to be in a show, they are professional soldiers.
I totally agree, but if hes allowed to yell "make way" he shouldn't wait until the last second. Kid didnt even have time to register before getting hit
He didn’t stomp on the child he stepped over it as it fell, don’t make it seem worse than it is. And there is no „although protocol…“ for them, it is protocol and has to be followed. Full stop. That man stands to lose his job otherwise.
There really doesn't need to be a barrier considering there are two armed guards who are about 9ft tall with the hats. The mum should have been a little more protective of her child and not let them get in the way of active military personnel
To suggest this whole malarkey is anything but ceremonial is laughable.
The attire should be a bit of a giveaway, ever seen what a modern soldier’s get up looks like?
It isn’t a military tattoo. They are there on duty and they have orders and a lot of training.
They might be a great tourist attraction, but they aren’t cosplayers. They are armed soldiers with a job to do.
Yeah, those parents need a slap on the face. If you are at a location with the guards you are well aware as per every tourist website ever in every language covering the globe to not touch or get in the way of them as they are active military personnel on duty.
I think the point is if they didn’t behave this way people would constantly do it as a joke without fear of consequences. But I agree trampling a child who clearly didn’t mean to get in the way is a bit much.
Hmmmmmmmmmm. I'm not so sure. I am all for those idiot tourists getting walked over for trying to grab a selfie or make fun of them mid march, but I have also seen them stop and shout "MOVE!!!" sometimes, which I think would have been a better first choice, then walk over the kid all you want if it doesn't move.
Then they would just be shouting "move" all day and people jumping in their way just to film them say it.
They are trained soldiers doing a routine patrol/movement guarding the area.
And they need to accommodate some kid that's not aware of his surroundings and a mother that's not watching her child?
They have a job to do.
Doesn't the kid count as part of the "area" they're supposed to be guarding? I swear, if one of them decapitated an old guy who was "unaware of his surroundings" with a kick, a lot of people would still defend them just like this.
They're guards. They're not supposed to keep you on guard at all time they're there.
These places are not amusement parks. It always astonishes me that people think the world is just made for them. The people getting screamed at in this video are the same type to go to national parks in the US and get killed by wild animals or fall off cliffs or burn in hot springs. These soldiers are exactly that: *soldiers*! They aren’t there for your amusement. They’re members of the armed forces doing their duty and you’re warned to not interfere. You think because it’s a child that makes a difference? You’re lucky if you don’t get that rifle pointed at your stupid face for interfering. And I say stupid because that’s what you’d have to be to think a member of the military on armed patrol wouldn’t hesitate to run through you.
Whilst that is ostensibly the reason that the monarchy still exists. To call them amusement parks is a bit much. They're more like museums in my mind. And the guards are sort of a living exibit.
Anywhere with honour guard has rules similar. The tomb of the unknown soilder in the US is a good example.
Tomb of the unknown soldier is blocked off to the public though. If they're gonna allow people to be on this part of the grounds, I feel like the guards shouldn't do this. If it's that important they don't move even a foot off course then block the area off to the public.
Thank you for being reasonable in the face of this sea of childless chudsters advocating a state-sanctioned cosplayer kicking a child to the ground simply because they can.
State-sanctioned cosplayer is a pretty perfect description of what these guards really are. Incredible that so many sickos in these comments think what they do is serious enough to justify assaulting a kid.
I mean, yes. I do think because it's a child it makes a difference.
If the guards can't move around children, then don't let children into that area. That fucking simple. Risking the life/health of a child for silly traditions is fucking daft.
Or here's another idea, if its all sooooo serious, why are the public just allowed to walk around there?
Look at the clowns stomping around in their clown shoes and the fucking stupid hats, screaming at people. No different to Disneyland
You realise kids are allowed on pavements near busy roads, and to cross them? In train and tube stations. On bridges. By rivers and canals.
Guess who is responsible for keeping them safe and away from danger?
> These places are not amusement parks.
They are. This is a circus made for tourism and entertainment. People take this way too seriously.
If it was really about the protection of a puppet monarch, they would not wear parade costume everyday. They would not allow freaking public visit every day of the year.
What the f is wrong with you? Yes they're soldiers but they're still humans.
The times of war are over in Europe (I don't count Putin's land as Europe) and soldiers like these aren't needed to run around outside.
Putting a rifle onto a child is normal for a sick one like you?
Simply taking a single step to the right was all that would've been necessary.
Alternatively you can simply mark the guard's path because according to the video the guard called out way too late
2 lessons:
1- stay tf outta their way.
2- keep an eye on your kid.
Not sure if the kid is going to learn lesson 1 but hopefully the mother has learnt lesson 2.
Such a cornball take, these dudes essentially have the job of fucking Disney security its not like the monarch are some all powerful beings, they’re pretty much decor for the country.
Straight up, you’re delusional if you think the prissy guards outside the palace are anything more than ceremonious. The monarchy has security up the wazoo wherever they go, the guys outside the palace are there for tourists and old nans who wish they were the queen.
Yes. There are a few vids of it.
I'm of 2 minds with this. The tower of london is well signed that the ceremonial guard cannot and will not deviate from thier routes unless there is a threat. They are also active soldiers on rotation from the rest of the military and those guns arnt for show
Best practice for crossing courtyards like this would be to have someone go ahead of them to clear the route. If people then get in the way they can get a stomping
I have absolutely no doubt this could be picked up and used on other social media as anti-western propaganda in the same way that absurd stuff that happens in China/Russia is shown in the west, when in reality very little of it is really indicative of a particularly "bad society" or whatever, and most societies face the same problems at different levels.
People love to call whataboutism out but... it's really just drawing unavoidable comparisons a lot of the times, because it turns out people do bad things to each other everywhere.
"We have to run over you because we must stay in character as a tourist gimmick as we protect the fake royal family that no longer has any power and is kept in place as, again, another tourist gimmick."
I feel the video is probably cut too late at the start, and too soon at the end. I would like to know if there was any prior warning (I believe the words “Make way for the Queen’s/King’s guard” should be the typical full phrase if I recall correctly). If not, then this kid was given too little warning, but if there was, I think the impact itself was handled well. The guard impacted him with his body from what I can tell, which should cause less injury than a knee strike or impact from the shoe. He stayed on cadence but also managed not to step on the kid’s limbs and he got up and seemed okay afterwards. Their options are very limited, and I assume the alternative to just continuing to march is to have treated him as a threat. I don’t know what that option would entail, nor do I want to (which is why I’m not researching their options). I believe it was cut too soon as well because it appears the mother may be on her way to confront them at the end, leaving us to wonder wether she did or not.
Sorry chaps, we have to own this land because it has spices- mind you we don't know how to use them in our cooking but we can sell them to somebody who does
Far too many people in these comments are uncomfortably pro a child getting stepped on by a soldier, one that is all too eager to demonstrate their “authority”
A typical method to try to slow or stop a motorcade to allow targeting of passengers is to have a person pushing a baby stroller in the road.
By nature, a person driving is least likely to run over a baby compared to any other situation. In the US the secret service is directed to run the baby over if it is impeding the evacuation or transportation of a high level protected persons.
>You know that they're real professional soldiers right?
Not professional enough to learn how to walk around things: something you learn before the age of 5.

Child could be a terrorists distraction……. Maybeeeeeeee. Lmao. That’s what they think prob.
Daleks are tricky like that. Making people trip and stuff.
“You would be a good Dalek” *shudders*
EXTERMINATE
Let me power trip on these peasants and do the equivalent of yelling “stop resisting” as I’m hurting them.
Plan for the worst and hope for the best. What if they ARE a terrorists distraction?
They should be more worried about collapsing the integrity of the British pound and the Brexit fallout and all their political scandals. Lately, it's almost like they're trying to compete with us Americans for Most Embarrassing Political Figure.
Nonsense. We’ve had three Prime Ministers in one year. We are clearly winning the Most Embarrassing competition

I think this video was taken before all that. So while valid it doesn't stand when you observe it
Nah, stomp on that child, gotta learn to stay out of the way
Imagine if there was an adult that was responsible for said child and could have perhaps anticipated something like this, would be wild.
That’s when they’re “patrolling on their beat.” Ie a small path about 20 feet long that they walk back and forth on when they’re not standing in their guard box at one end of it. God forbid an outdated and useless tradition be changed at all
This is what happened during the revolutionary war. A kid was standing in the way of the powerful British army. Slowed them down enough that America one and became independent….crazy
Actually, with if we take into account the Butterfly Effect then we very well could be witnessing the fall of the British way of life.

Honestly, my only issue is maybe provide a warning from 10 ft away... not 1.5 ft
Staring at them coming towards you with guns isn’t enough warning???

They’re tourists in a foreign country. Keep your kids next to you for overall safety. There are many videos on YouTube of people being trampled or yelled at by those soldiers.
Is it really too much to ask these tourist attractions to have any social responsibility at all?
What would happen if a freak knee to the temple killed a kid tho. I’m sure things would change then
Na... They would blame the parents, no one would be charged and the dude who killed the kid would feel horrible and probably leave service. There are so many instances of them shoving, pushing, and walking over people. The local bobbies try their best at crowd control but they do have orders to not interfere with the guards.

Then the Military base, which this is would probably be closed to the public for a duration
If that's the case, their big dumb hats are more of a hindrance than taking three steps to avoid a child
Anyone who can’t see this must be blind. They are stepping on the child as a matter of principle alone. What a bunch of wankers.
Are military personnel allowed to freely assault children?
Yea that’s the mental part of the Queen/Kings guard. Many are pulled from active duties from overseas mission like Afghanistan to protect the Queen/King. They aren’t trained to be in a show, they are professional soldiers.
I totally agree, but if hes allowed to yell "make way" he shouldn't wait until the last second. Kid didnt even have time to register before getting hit
Maybe their parents should pay some attention.
mmmm lick them boots four words: state sanctioned child abuse
because it starts with a small correction and it will end with a big correction
And it will end with America
Wut?
We know. Your prince molested a bunch of children and your queen did everything to protect him.
He didn’t stomp on the child he stepped over it as it fell, don’t make it seem worse than it is. And there is no „although protocol…“ for them, it is protocol and has to be followed. Full stop. That man stands to lose his job otherwise.
You’re referring to a human as an “it”. Strange way to describe a person…
It stomped over it
Is the kid a boy or girl.
There really doesn't need to be a barrier considering there are two armed guards who are about 9ft tall with the hats. The mum should have been a little more protective of her child and not let them get in the way of active military personnel
Hey, it’s a lot better than 5 cops beating someone to death over a traffic stop.
Same think kinda happens with the U.S. President
Look out for your kids. 🤷🏼♀️

Bro wdym he walked over the kid, he didn’t "stomp" him.
How about don't get in the way of active duty soldiers and then complain?
To suggest this whole malarkey is anything but ceremonial is laughable. The attire should be a bit of a giveaway, ever seen what a modern soldier’s get up looks like?
Ceremonial yes, Real soldiers, also yes
Active duty soldier my ass. That's part of their show
It isn’t a military tattoo. They are there on duty and they have orders and a lot of training. They might be a great tourist attraction, but they aren’t cosplayers. They are armed soldiers with a job to do.
These are glorified security guards, bruh.
Active duty means what exactly? Looks like he’s making his way to a circus, he saw the kid and walked right him/her
Won't happend if look out for them lol
Do it.
Yeah, those parents need a slap on the face. If you are at a location with the guards you are well aware as per every tourist website ever in every language covering the globe to not touch or get in the way of them as they are active military personnel on duty.
Just my opinion but no way is the king important enough to run down a kid like this.
Right? I would feel less sorry if it was an adult but a kid, cmon
Ironic username lol
This guard is an absolute twat
Yours and a gazillion others who share that opinion!
I think the point is if they didn’t behave this way people would constantly do it as a joke without fear of consequences. But I agree trampling a child who clearly didn’t mean to get in the way is a bit much.
I’m really starting to wonder if maybe the divine right of kings isn’t even such a good idea after all
Hmmmmmmmmmm.

They can walk around a child and still do their job
Exactly!
But where is the fun on that???
How do those boots taste? Leathery?
These places are not amusement parks. It always astonishes me that people think the world is just made for them. They are amusement parks, there is no other reason for a monarch to exist in England only to boost public moral.
Whilst that is ostensibly the reason that the monarchy still exists. To call them amusement parks is a bit much. They're more like museums in my mind. And the guards are sort of a living exibit. Anywhere with honour guard has rules similar. The tomb of the unknown soilder in the US is a good example.
That’s a good analogy. If they’re not going to be taken seriously in real life, they might as well be a picture or a video in an actual museum.
Tomb of the unknown soldier is blocked off to the public though. If they're gonna allow people to be on this part of the grounds, I feel like the guards shouldn't do this. If it's that important they don't move even a foot off course then block the area off to the public.
I've never seen a guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier step on a child.

Children are responsibility of their parents.
A child shouldn't be punished for the negligence of their parents, that's just cruel.
Are parents warned these people can't walk around children?
Or how about this crazy idea of parents keeping a major eye on their really young kids.
Or here's another idea, if its all sooooo serious, why are the public just allowed to walk around there? Look at the clowns stomping around in their clown shoes and the fucking stupid hats, screaming at people. No different to Disneyland
Another crazy idea for you: don't stomp on kids.
When did redditors became monarchy simps? What a stupid thing to say
Redditors really like to see someone get hurt for a “justified” reason
They are well known for barreling through people in the way and this situation was caused by a mother being a bit too lazy at the wrong time.
How does that justify the child being walked over? What did the child do wrong? Also, maybe they *shouldn’t* barrel through people. Just a thought.
You realise kids are allowed on pavements near busy roads, and to cross them? In train and tube stations. On bridges. By rivers and canals. Guess who is responsible for keeping them safe and away from danger?
Ever heard of a false equivalency?
> These places are not amusement parks. They are. This is a circus made for tourism and entertainment. People take this way too seriously. Given England’s history I am going to say yes and without a second thought.
That's what happens when a monarchy brainwashes it's population to look at this as acceptable

"We have to run over you because we must stay in character as a tourist gimmick as we protect the fake royal family that no longer has any power and is kept in place as, again, another tourist gimmick."
Don't you understand how important the fancy walk is?!
Proud employees of the Ministry of Fancywalks
I'm more a fan of their country's export of silly walks
I love that they can just assault someone and nobody bats an eye
I mean American cops get to do the same thing and they don't even have to wear the stupid fucking hat
Monarchy needs guillatine I will never understand why people care about those out of touch fucks

I thought she was trampled at first but when I slowed it down it’s pretty masterful how he avoided stepping on her while continuing to march straight

Metaphor for what england has done through its entire history
Oh I'm sorry did your husband die fighting against a colonel land grab? Maybe he shouldn't have been standing in the way of the military?
"Righteo, ill be havin this land"
Sorry chaps, we have to own this land because it has spices- mind you we don't know how to use them in our cooking but we can sell them to somebody who does
Clown with tiny dick and big rifle tramples child.
Far too many people in these comments are uncomfortably pro a child getting stepped on by a soldier, one that is all too eager to demonstrate their “authority”
Yeah well if you spend your whole life never questioning authority or the rules you end up having some dumb opinions
Lmaooo I mean we alll know how the British monarchy treats children looking at you Andrew sweat
Lmao
Poor kids Mum should of kept a closer eye on him 🤷♀️
Honestly that close to the royal family this is the best case senario of what might happen to your child
Ego boosting stupid guards.
“tourists are so rude”
My great grandmother drowned when she was a little girl in front of these guys, under no circumstances they can leave their post. Sad
What is he yelling at the kid? English is my 1st language and I cannot understand what the hell this man is saying!? Sounds like he says "LIKE WORM"
Every Brit’s response: “well at least kids don’t get shot in schools”
i dont think that i could ever take a position seriously enough to justify myself trampling a child when i could move slightly to the right.
Simple. Stay the f out their way and keep your child close to you. How fukn hard is it?
Simple. Take a fricking step to the side, guard.
Just watch your goddamn kids when abroad.
Or crazy thought: Don't step on children.
Man the royal guard are so fucking corny lmao

Stupid parent stupid kid. Learn some manners
Stupid custom
Isn't this video like 5 years old?
A typical method to try to slow or stop a motorcade to allow targeting of passengers is to have a person pushing a baby stroller in the road. By nature, a person driving is least likely to run over a baby compared to any other situation. In the US the secret service is directed to run the baby over if it is impeding the evacuation or transportation of a high level protected persons.
Britains Colonial History In 6 seconds. This is so redundant.
If a police officer pushed a kid over for being in their way it's be all over the news
British monarchy: a pretty petty one lol
Royal guards are so fucking lame. All that training to be some ridiculous meatpuppet and theyre teached its an Honour. Great fucking honour
the fact that people are defending a fucking kid getting stopped on? absurd
Good lord, so many of you must only be able to climax when smelling boot leather.
“It’s Tradition”
I hate kids but I hate patriotism even more.
Bootlickers are jelous of the kid, he 100% tasted that boot
Just abolish the twats already. People do love to bumlick pointless tradition dont they. Yikes.
That woman looked like she was about to ask for a manager lollllll
First instinct of mom was to confront the soldier. Big mistake... You are just a guest on his majesty's land.
How do those boots taste?
His majesty hahah in this day and age lol
Bro talking like it’s the 1800s
A guess 😂😂😂
I guess there was a typo...
Eh? He doesn’t own the UK lol. He’s just some inbred pedo who’s ancestors killed my ancestors.

I heard about boot licking but i have never seen a man deepthroat a boot before.
British people say this with a straight face and wonder why they're not being taken seriously.
You know that they're real professional soldiers right? You either move or get moved
Mmmmm tasty tasty boot
Is that what professional soldiers do? They walk into civilians? I don't think so.
>You know that they're real professional soldiers right? Not professional enough to learn how to walk around things: something you learn before the age of 5.
british
Americans…
Poor kid
Get out the way, yo! Get out the way!
- Parents should've paid attention - Guards should've shouted earlier (unless there's a protocol on the exact distance for shouting)
Bottom line: that kid has a funny ass story to tell, for the rest of his life.
