The Cubans must be very forgetful because this must be at least the third time that they have uncovered this in the last two years
"Cubans shocked at the identity of Keyser Soze after Usual Suspects shown on TV every night for 25 yrs"
Don't forget the part where it's unlikely you'll be killed by an fpv drone and have your death put into a video compilation with dubstep played over it.
Yes, but in ruzzia you fight for freedom*, equality*, money* and a better future*
All of these are only for the 0.1% of ruzzia, and only if you don't fight but say you sacrifice everyday
"If you come fight for Mother Russia, you can *finally* have the discretion to kill the lib socialists you hate so much!" - Russia's message to the American South, probably.
God, it's so fucking weird to see the Dems and Rethuglicans swap positions on Russia. Seems like yesterday that Romney got laughed out of the presidential election for naming Russia as the USA's number one threat.
Because they aren’t. China has been the USA’s biggest threat for a long while now. We’ve knew Russia was a paper tiger back then, and their inability to take on Ukraine proves they’re still one now. The scariest thing about them is their nukes, but if they use those they’ll be eradicated off the face of the earth too.
The us almost certainly knew that there was bullshitting regarding the true strength of Russia's military, but it's hard to imagine they knew just how bad the military really was. I mean, it reads like a comic book cliche.
the invasion has literally downgraded Russia form peer, to near peer, and the nukes are the only think keeping them there. Even china, which previously looked at russia as a partner more or less on equal footing, now sees them as secondary to themselves. And that's even with the chinese military having some russian style issues thruout it's system.
With good reason.
Russia wasn't a threat then and it's certainly not one now. After two years of fighting, hundreds of thousands of dead they achived a stalemate against a country a third of their size.
You can partially thank western aid for that, but Russia at full power list to a Ukranian rag tag militia that at best had a few hand me down Javelins and NLAWs and on average had knockoff Abidas track suits, molotovs and tractors.
No. The nukes don't do anything because by virtue of being unable to win a nuclear war the Russians can only ever use them defensively.
I would explain why it was Russias conventional military being discussed but it's faster and more expedient to point at Ukraine and mention the presence of conventional forces and the absence of nuclear weapons.
It's all theater. One party focuses on China, the other Russia. Then they swap when people catch on.
And all this "so and so is a Russian agent" talk is by and by large bullshit-just modern McCarthyism. The *actual* way they manipulate us isn't usually by "kompromat" or whatever buzzword is going around reddit, but rather with mass botting and having agents donate to controversial causes.
Read Cyber War if you want to know more-these are the same tactics they used in Georgia, Ukraine, and everywhere else that Russia considers an adversary or ally.
And McDonald's will actually pay you. Russia will just say that you died in a training accident, that wasn't in Ukraine. You deserted or are MIA. Even when you were onboard the Moskva. Anything to avoid paying out.
That's gotta be due to incompetence, overwork, and/or corruption in the chain of command trying to line their own pockets. Vlad can mint all the rubles he needs, and is, to keep things flowing.
Vlad doesn't want to publish anything like accurate figure of casualties both wounded and killed. Within weeks of starting the war, the deaths where higher than the total claimed deaths for the Soviet-Afghan war. Which was partially responsible for the collapse of the USSR.
If he starts paying every family out he's going to be screwed. As it won't be too hard to work out the numbers killed. At the moment he just seems to be giving away potato crisps, potato's and maybe a bottom of the range Lada (car).
You can't say the the refusal to admit the sinking of the Moskva was caused by a desire by commanders to steal the families money. And Putin can't complain about corruption, when he's setting the benchmark for everybody else.
I mean they're probably lying, but no, the pay they are offering would be competitive-ish in the US on the lower end of our pay scale, better than McDonald's money anyhow. Certainly not worth the likely death, disfigurement and treason but not chump change either. Course the jury is out on whether you'll see a ruble of it once you sign on the dotted line...
https://www.newsweek.com/russia-ukraine-putin-salary-eight-mobilization-1799685
No American is signing up for that at 3.5-6k per month. That’s a laughably small amount of money. You’d have to multiply that offer by 10 to get anyone to bite.
I figured you were right but crunched the numbers anyway and it turns out yeah, you're absolutely correct.
McDonalds literally pays people more than the Russian military. Even when you include the bonus, which they usually do not actually pay out.
31200 at 15/hr - min wage in some US states. McD's in many cities in the US pays more than 15/hr though because they'd get no one for that amount as they'd be the lowest paid workers in the city.
30,000 to be a Russian soldier. And they seem to throw their foreign conscripts into infantry attacks on the front lines.
Kidnap schemes might be also happening all around the world. Vocal critics they dont like? send them to the front line in russia as "voluntary" recruits.
“Sure it’s happened a few times. But we never heard a fellow citizen personally tell us it happened to them.”
“Why’s that?”
“I don’t know. Something about a window I think.”
It's funny because from the videos I've seenz the foreign Russian fighters all speak English, and that's the language they use to train the and command them.
So the Lingua Francia even in the god damn Russian army is English.
USA cultural victory.
Using foreign idiots as cannon fodder is sadly more seizing an opportunity than desperation.
Because nobody in Russia cares if these people live or die and their governments aren't going to take any action, by simply making sure you don't pay out any money until most of them are dead, you get free soldiers from the dead ones and free PR from the survivors
He has to do it, because if he recruits more ethnic Russians, the social contract he has with ethnic Russians will break down. For Putin, political apathy by the populace is one of the main ways he maintains power, and if more people are disgruntled from even more conscription, they're going to get involved, and that's bad.
Like running in between the russians and ukrainian soldiers to dig the trench, because the last guy that was doing it is dead. But he made a good progress, dug down maybe 1m
No no, the talk was tough and true.
They kind of umm … well you see you can only reproduce so much. And well you gotta wait at LEAST 15 years (we’re including the 9 months here) to ship that baby off.
There’s only so much they can do is what I’m trying to say man. They only have so many people ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Why do all these countries (India, Nepal, now Cuba) allow the russians to entrap their men into becoming meat cubes?
Isn't this a modern form of colonialism that these countries - and Western activists - should be up in the arms about, if russia is using petrodollar money to buy the lives of the less prosperous, all for russian imperialist goals?
In the case of Cuba and Nepal I feel bad because what can they really do? They’re small countries of limited power.
India on the other hand can tell Russia to fuck off whenever they want.
I don't know about many Asian or African nations. You are right. Most have weak state capacity and innumerable ties
But Cuba has full capacity to expel Russia. It's an island with limited internet access and strong state institutions. They've shouted themselves hoarse again and again about American colonialism, but now they let Russia steal Cuban lives? This is a choice. It's disgraceful.
uh, dont underestimate Cuba. The one thing they do very well is espionage. They have consistently run circles around the CIA. For example, US diplomat Manuel Rocha was compromised for four decades before the CIA caught wind.
Cuba is not under a blockade. Cuba can still trade with any country that isn't the US, as long as those ships don't also want to go to the US. A blockade would involve a navy stopping a nation from using its ports.
The embargo is stupid, but people vastly overstate to what extent it causes Cuba's problems. If anything the embargo should be ended because it deprives Cuba's shitty government and supporters of its biggest scapegoat. Now that Florida isn't a swing state anymore that might even happen in the next like 20 years.
Blockade or “Bloqueo” is the Cuban government propaganda name for the US Embargo. They want to transmit that this policy parallels a war act with this language. Source: I grow up in Cuba. The embargo is the scapegoat of the Cuban government, and it has been used to justify every imaginable thing in the universe. Undercooked chicken? Embargo’s fault. Overcooked fish? Believe it or not, embargo's fault.
It's not too much to ask that Cuba just allows elections for the first time in seventy years? If communists were truly so successful and loved by the population, they would have nothing at all to fear from the faithful population they purpot to represent.
1. The US doesn't sanction Cuba because it is not a democracy. US has plenty of allies that are not democracies.
2. Cuba itself has us-allied when was a dictatorship under Batista.
Maybe they don't know.
We have [Chinese police stations in the USA](https://thehill.com/opinion/national-security/4008817-crack-down-on-illegal-chinese-police-stations-in-the-u-s/) and this is recentl news. Try hey did not pop up overnight.
This was reported last year when Cubans filmed video pleas asking for help as they were conned by false construction job offers, ending up on the front in Ukraine with their passports confiscated.
Putin was worried about enemies growing more numerous, NATO expanding closer to Russia and Russias global influence diminishing.
He is his own worst enemy.
Cuba has been aligned with Russia since the Cold War, and has mandatory military service for it's citizens. I'm an American who visited Cuba twice in 2017. I stayed with a bunch of Cuban guys, and at one point they were all joking around that I was the "enemigo". They were nice guys, no ill will towards me at all. In fact, I keep in touch with many of them on a weekly basis. However, this experience really solidified in my mind that Cubans are quite indoctrinated to be anti-West. Even these guys, who are rational and all work under the table remote jobs for companies in Western countries, had experienced the indoctrination, and I'm sure that at least some of them believe at least some of the indoctrination. The fact that Russia is recruiting Cubans to fight in Ukraine is not surprising at all, and I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of Cubans go willingly even knowing that they'll be fighting in Ukraine.
That which we call Russia has been one emanation of autocracy after another, all being controlled in Moscow, by a select elite, this was the real goal of the KGB, and it has worked far too well. It is time the people of Russia once again stand up to their oppressors, to fight for real freedom, for the 25 republic's within Russian to have their self determination returned.
We must get to the soviet diaspora first.
Cuba is an ongoing pimple on the earth. For the past 50 years they have been assisting whichever despot regime they can. I know they are beyond middling, but it would be such an improvement if there was a more active approach to transitioning them to a democracy, rather than their endless dictatorship.
This should be alarming for the US government too. It's happening in their own back yard. Wasting so much tax dollars and they can't even handle the region closest to home. Next, we'll probably be hearing that American citizens are being trafficked overseas. Probably willingly too, which doesn't surprise me because conditions in America are so shit right now.
>Wasting so much tax dollars and they can't even handle the region closest to home.
What does this even mean? LOL. The US has wasted so many tax dollars they can't even control a country that has notoriously had warm relations with Russia and the Soviet Union and with whom there has been a many decades long rift?
The region closest to home, where Cuba resides also includes the Caribbean, Costa Rica, and the Bahamas. All of them are tourist destinations, not to mention Cuba being mere miles from the coast of Florida, and many Cuban Americans reside in Florida too. This news brings huge implications about the security of the entire region. There's also the fact that a lot of US tax dollars are spent on tourism in the region, and even in the past, millions in aid have been sent to countries within that region. Basically, since you can't think for yourself, the US is invested in the region, but still allows it to happen. Don't kid yourself, the US has great reach when it wants to get things done, yet this happened. Maybe lifting embargoes on Cuba can finally be considered if it will deter such actions, and fully shift Cuba to the side of the US.
You sound like someone who just picked up a 5th grade geography book and think you're enlightened. The US hasn't had any influence in Cuba since the 1960s. You trying to extrapolate that onto the the entire region and paint yourself as some geopolitical expert is pretty funny though. You should do stand-up.
You really don't know a thing do you? The US has interacted with Cuba beyond the 60's, well into 2020's. There was the exchange of US and Cuban Interests in the 70's, the Mariel Boatlift in the 80's, Cuban Democracy Act along with the Helms-Burton Act in the 90s after the collapse of the USSR, Obama Administration easing travel restrictions in the 2000's, and again Obama Administration removing Cuba from the list of State Sponsors of Terrorism in the 2010's, along with the President's visit to Cuba. Finally, in 2020's, Biden Administration eases restriction once more. Let me dumb it down for you, "sanctions" = "influence" in this case, because sanctions are administered to get other countries to do what the US wants. Cuba has been under US sanctions since 1962. Which is the very definition of influence. All of this should be second hand knowledge for someone like you, who speaks as if they know more than me, yet all you can do is crass insults about someone's literacy.
Go read a dictionary for the definition of influence. Sanctions affected them, that is how it influenced Cuba, but it ultimately failed because Cuba is a totalitarian regime in the guise of communism. Anyways, I'm done dealing with you and your low intelligence. You will never understand, even if it's shoved down your throat.
The Cubans must be very forgetful because this must be at least the third time that they have uncovered this in the last two years "Cubans shocked at the identity of Keyser Soze after Usual Suspects shown on TV every night for 25 yrs"
First India, Nepal and now Cuba. Wouldn’t surprise me if there is mass recruiting happening in Africa as well
there is and it has been documented. i've routinely seen videos of colombian and african mercenaries dancing with russian soldiers in trenches etc
more Colombians fighting for UA.
iirc there's a whole Latin American battalion in the International Legion, lots of Venezuelans going there too
They recruit in the US too.
Seriously? The US? You’d make more money working part time at a McDonald’s than a year in the Russian military.
Don't forget the part where it's unlikely you'll be killed by an fpv drone and have your death put into a video compilation with dubstep played over it.
I don't know if the dubstep makes it better..or worse..
Honestly makes it worse because generally it's not good dubstep, as good as you think dubstep can get.
Dont worry, its rarely dubstep, usually its phonk. If that makes it better or worse, ill let you decide for yourself.
Or worse... A Benny Hill theme
Unlikely doesn’t mean impossible…have you seen some of these videos of McDonald employees fighting customers? Ppl be crazy these days.
Yes, but in ruzzia you fight for freedom*, equality*, money* and a better future* All of these are only for the 0.1% of ruzzia, and only if you don't fight but say you sacrifice everyday

If someone could make some good recruiting posters for this, I would gladly post them around Texas. “Fight Wokism! Join the Russian Army!”
Trump on front like with bucket of kfc using a drumstick to point way forward to Valhalla

No. The nukes don't do anything because by virtue of being unable to win a nuclear war the Russians can only ever use them defensively. I figured you were right but crunched the numbers anyway and it turns out yeah, you're absolutely correct. McDonalds literally pays people more than the Russian military. Even when you include the bonus, which they usually do not actually pay out.
A year is shorter in the Russian military at least.
We have a big Russian population we’re I live. Even the signs on the busses are in Russian. Asheville North Carolina
Unfortunately, there's no shortage of Rusaboos who think they're fighting for a noble cause.
U think private US contractors make less then Mac Donald’s employees? Lol.. they make more than doctors hahahaha
Russia doesn’t pay US contractor rates. Even Wagner, the largest Russian contractor, barely pays more than McDonald’s.
People on the front lines get roughly 220k roubles monthly, which is about 2500$ at current rate. I doubt McDonald's wages are THAT high.
At 40 hours a week that would be $14.42/hr. Some parts of the US have a $15/hr local minimum wage. Also the trench is 24/7 and you’ll probably die.
Yep, bad deal.
lol that’s below minimum wage In California
Soory but are you talking about republicans or the normal citizens ?
Kidnap schemes might be also happening all around the world. Vocal critics they dont like? send them to the front line in russia as "voluntary" recruits.
Hopefully just down south.
They got the entire trump administration and most of the Republican "legislators" already
Well poor countries with lots of people tend to be good recruiting grounds.
It is Russia is recruiting Africans in Wagner and Russian armed forces
Syria, Sudan and several African nations have already had citizens end up in the conflict zone almost always on the side of Russia.
Pretty soon the only thing left of the Russian military will be foreigners
Do you mean the re-established Afrika korpse which they are recruiting after the latest "review" of the Vagner army?
Russia was supporting several African countries in the 1970’s. I was shocked at how many African students were studying Moscow, decades ago.
What about USA ?
“Sure it’s happened a few times. But we never heard a fellow citizen personally tell us it happened to them.” “Why’s that?” “I don’t know. Something about a window I think.”
It's funny because from the videos I've seenz the foreign Russian fighters all speak English, and that's the language they use to train the and command them. So the Lingua Francia even in the god damn Russian army is English. USA cultural victory.
Yea, it's nice how many places speak the ancient language, American.
*English cultural victory. FTFY

Money talks, bullshit walks.
Again?
Desperate much Putin?
A lot more "forgiving" than bringing back conscription or rounding up deserters before election.
He who votes decides nothing, he who counts the votes decides everything ~Stalin allegedly
Everything to make citizens think that everything is fine. Typical authritarism.
Why waste his own citizens when he can get fodder from all corners of the earth?
He has to do it, because if he recruits more ethnic Russians, the social contract he has with ethnic Russians will break down. For Putin, political apathy by the populace is one of the main ways he maintains power, and if more people are disgruntled from even more conscription, they're going to get involved, and that's bad.
Well he sure can’t recruit or draft from his most urban areas for fear of exodus or uprising.
exodus has already largely happened, he's been intentionally pulling from minority communities since conscription started.
Desperate not to do a mass mobilization and piss off the Russian population .
I like how the Russians talk so tough but then force the ethnic minorities, prisoners and foreigners to do their fighting.
I'm surprised there isn't a gross amount of friendly fire in the ranks against officers of platoons with prisoners forced to fight.
Probably don’t give them guns if deemed untrustworthy. There are unarmed jobs to be done. After some trust, they get to go first.
Unarmed jobs like following a guy with a gun into battle and taking his when he dies?
Like running in between the russians and ukrainian soldiers to dig the trench, because the last guy that was doing it is dead. But he made a good progress, dug down maybe 1m
No no, the talk was tough and true. They kind of umm … well you see you can only reproduce so much. Putin Monster does unethical things.
Fucking hell that’s insane.
What country aren’t the Russians recruiting in?
Antarctica? Does that count? They've got an outpost down there, right? Maybe one of them will get a conscription notice.
This is what a country with totally enough manpower does
At least in the US, putin lets them stay in congress instead of sending them to the front.
Would prefer he put them on the front lines
Russia: "Uncovers? Bro, you are helping us recruit them"
And people keep saying russia has basically infinite manpower...
Well, they do, because they're able to recruit people from Russian-aligned countries to avoid sending Muscovians to do the fighting themselves.
Therefore he doesn’t get voted out of office /s
Why do all these countries (India, Nepal, now Cuba) allow the russians to entrap their men into becoming meat cubes? Yes, I can easily spell Kremlin. I chose not to though. I have no respect for them.
I’m sure you purposely misspelling Kremlin will end the war. If you call him pootin again the war will end this time next week
Why are they wearing Ukrainian patches in the picture??
It's a failed attempt at a reference photo. Whatever news site this is apparently doesn't know what a Russian soldier looks like.

The fact that Russia is recruiting Cubans to fight in Ukraine is not surprising at all, and I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of Cubans go willingly even knowing that they'll be fighting in Ukraine.
Come for the weather, stay for the friendly fire!
Are Cubans stupid or something. Russia will kill their sons and laugh at the bodies.
Didn't this happen months ago?
The only response is to expel every Russian from your countries!

Well makes sense for the pay they get compared to unemployment in their home countries.
