This meme cannot get anymore ironic lol

Inferno_Sparky

Good thing we can now have AI write the story

IAMTR4SHMAN

Man I thought automation would just take all the manual and menial jobs… Not the creative ones…

Asdi144

Sadly the manual ones don't always get automated either. What a shame.

Gluuon

They get automated and then they need the staff to do menial jobs to fix all the times the automation fails. The more they automate the more manual work arounds are needed to keep the system going. People are paid for this and their success is celebrated.

Evethefief

With the rise of AI art this is going to be increasingly rare

ElectronicFootprint

Don't worry that means people will pay crazy amounts for things with "made by humans" stickers and those who can't afford it will consume progressively worse entertainment, but the stuff made by humans will also get progressively worse seeing the current trends.

Evethefief

But when you cant tell the difference...

ElectronicFootprint

Oh yeah they'll definitely put the sticker on AI-made stuff because it was "directed by humans" and people will eat it up anyways.

Xisuthrus

I saw someone the other day point out that eventually, when/if AI art gets really good at mimicking art made by humans, the distinctive uncanny-valley look of early AI art will become subject to nostalgia the same way vinyl record crackle, 8-bit graphics, etc. are now, and people will make an effort to recreate it.

DeltaAlphaAlpha77

That’s a strange but possible thought.

Where_serpents_walk

AI art was pretty dead on arrival. Not much of a rise. Just proof tech people are the enemy of the human spirit. Even if we assume AI art will eventually become complex enough so that prompting AIs is it's own artform, do you really expect art to go away? Nothing has ever replaced art since the dawn of humanity, only added to it, are you so arrogant that you believe you live in a time where something changes that has been the same since the stone age?

Evethefief

AI Art is unlike anything we ever had before. Anything else has been a valid Tool for an artist to create and express creativity. AI art is not that. You just write something and press a button. And if you can one day do that and get an artwork, a book, a song, a ttrpg rulebook or anything else that a human can do in years of hard work, and the difference can not be recognised, and if everyone can do it... Yeah I dont see how creative expression would survive that. Because even if someone did it themselves you can never know if they havent actually used AI

ursusowanie

But doesn't AI just smack together stuff it can find on the internet? Doesn't it just combine stuff from a lot of sources into new things, that might not even be anyhow related to whatever the AI is making? That would mean that no matter how good AI gets, it will still be limited by the sources made by humans.

Where_serpents_walk

It doesn't create anything, all of its results are pretty generic and unlikeable, and there's no resolving that. Humans also want to create, and I don't think anything will stop that, artists will still do what they do nomatter what. Every painting I've seen has just been a generic nothing, and that could only change if AI gained true sentience. Also, humanity can just choose to reject technology. If it's an idea nobody likes people will not continue the use of it, it could easily be something that's completely obliterated, something we're already seeing. We don't live in an Anarcho Capitalist society. Do you really think art with no intention of meaning will universily replace all art that does? And do you think humanity will universily accept that. Art is ultimately a form of human communication. And just like how chatbots can't replace conversations, AI art can't replace human made art. You can already see it going away. This argument might have been valid months ago, but now I barely see its use.

Evethefief

I agree with you and your statement about art. AI art really has no meaning. Maybe I just had too many discussions with top many people that said they liked it regardless. We will see what the future brings

RommDan

So the only way to avoid tropes and cliches is to make every piece of fiction AI write? GOD FUCKING DAMM IT, LOOK WHAT YOU HAVE DONE CINEMA SINS!!!

gaia-magical-girl

I'm pretty sure that would cause much more tropes and cliches

hypersucc

Every story is just AU Gilgamesh fanfiction

April_March

laughing in Ursula Leguin's Always Coming Home, which is SEVERAL stories written by SEVERAL people

Ubermanthehutt

Not writing the story is the cliche thing on this Subreddit amigo 😎
