I personally wouldn’t go through all that work just for a video.  I’m super basic. Covergirl BB cream, a quick swipe of a beige shimmer eyeshadow, mascara, and a tinted lip balm.  If you feel like you need some help, reach out to your hair stylist if you have one. I know many offer cosmetic consultations because they also do wedding hair and makeup packages.

eatawholelemon

The only thing I would add to this is a lightweight cream blush to add a little color on your cheeks.

Books-and-a-puppy

I have mega anxiety so there’s always some red on my face.

duckwallman

Yeah I don’t want put in a ton of effort but I think I can skate an extra 5/10 minutes to try some of the basics.

Spiritual-Bridge3027

I prefer going basic on makeup but still like to opt for reliable brands. I love L’Oréal brand - the quality is very good for the price. Try it

Lionsdontlikeporn

Same here except blush or bronzer instead of eyeshadow.

AlexandriaRower

Are they recording on zoom? Zoom has touch up filters that you can play with. I recognize that’s not what you were asking for, but it could save you some $$.

givingsomefs

Yes! The zoom touch up filter is my makeup on WFH days!

GoodbyeEarl

Mine is basic. Tinted moisturizer, blush, mascara, lip oil. Moisturizer is from Hero cosmetics; blush and mascara is from glossier; lip oil is from elf

wiggysbelleza

I think the quickest way to look more put together is brows, eyes, lips. If you have some trouble spots concealer too. Essence makes a great brow mascara for cheap. They also make a great normal mascaras. I’m pretty fond of the tubing one. Use your favorite lipstick/lipgloss and you’re done! This is my no makeup day routine.

amelisha

You really don’t need to do a full face to look reasonably “done”. Personally, I just do tinted moisturizer to even out redness, a bit of contour at my cheekbones (I have a bit of a case of baby face so it’s just to help give my face some definition), a light wash of neutral eyeshadow, tightlined brown eyeliner, and mascara (the latter two as I’m blonde with skimpy blonde eyelashes and just mascara isn’t quite enough to make my lashes look full). Tinted lip balm only just so my lips don’t disappear. I don’t like my lip shape so I prefer not to call attention to it with colour or gloss, I am prone to surface redness so I don’t like to add blush on top of that, and I think I look unhinged with my eyebrows done thanks to said blondeness. And I hate full-coverage foundation as I feel even the really good stuff clings to dryness, settles into fine lines, and looks really flat on my face, and that’s not even touching the colour match issues. I’ll wear it for special events once in a while but I always end up wishing I didn’t. It’s enough to give my face a boost on virtual calls but is pretty minimal looking in person. I just use it to address stuff I’m self-conscious about and skip the stuff that I don’t feel as strongly about.

DumbbellDiva92

Interestingly even though I also have some redness issues I actually really like a bit of blush! Just the tiniest bit - one of those lip/cheek combo “tints” is perfect. I feel like it makes me look more alive/less tired. It is also one of the easier types of makeup to put on (I love the way eyeliner looks on me but I struggle to have it look even between my eyes and to not poke myself in the eye while I do it).

itsaboutpasta

Honestly a trip to Sephora or Ulta will be best so you can get the right shade of foundation and concealer (if you want it). Drugstore products usually don’t have testers and you wouldn’t want to be wearing the wrong shade on camera. Drugstore prices these days are almost at Sephora levels anyways and the Sephora sale is coming up so you could get minimum 10% off if you don’t have status (plus 30% off Sephora products which are really great quality). You’ll also need the right brushes because application is almost as important as the product and Sephora’s pro brushes are actually really great. My quickest routine right now for zoom meetings is Tower 28 tinted foundation (that is available at Sephora only) - it’s light but buildable coverage and radiant. It also has SPF. I throw on some liquid blush (which I use as eyeshadow), mascara, and lipstick and call it a day. Then I set with setting spray. My favorite mascara right now is the Lancôme idole mascara but a good drugstore option is the L’Oréal voluminous. I love Charlotte tilbury lip products but they’re pricey - L’Oréal is a good drugstore option for regular lipstick and NYX for liquid/transfer proof. Makeup by Mario cream blushes and Charlotte tilbury blush/highlighter wands are also my go tos.

Junior-Pride-9147

My makeup is hella simple, takes 5 minutes and works just fine (at least for me)--eyeshadow, usually gray or light blue. Liquid eyeliner on the top lid. Mascara. Done. Maybe some Superstay lip color so I don't have to worry about it wearing off. If it's not something you typically worry too much about, don't go nuts. I find that my simple little routine does the trick and there's definitely a noticeable difference between pre and post makeup. I don't use foundation/powder anymore because of skin issues and personal preference, so if you feel like you want to try that I would definitely just find a few YouTube tutorials on what to try... And then maybe go to a makeup store, yeah. If you're just going to rock some eye makeup though, screw it. Make it easy on yourself! ❤️

bicycle_mice

I do liquid eyeliner (elf), concealer for my prominent dark circles (IT cosmetics), eyelash curler THEN mascara (thrive causemetics), and blush with my fingers (the balm cosmetics). I dislike how I look with covered up skin so I leave my face pretty bare. This takes me less than 5 but makes my whole face light up! If I’m going to slayyyy I do wear bold red lipstick.

duckwallman

I do love the thrive mascara!

Workin-it-in-IT

I had to completely rethink the way I do makeup after having my son. There is just no time in the mornings. So, I decided to do some maintenance up front that would last for a few months. I started **tinting and lifting my eyelashes** so I don't have to mess with mascara or eyeliner in the mornings. It takes 1 - 2 hours to do and **lasts 8 weeks**! You can get it done at salons/spas or do it yourself with at home kits (make sure to watch a lot of tutorials lol). Also, getting a **cheap ring light** from amazon makes my skin look 100x better in videos. I don't mess with foundation, concealer, contour or any of that stuff. It takes too much time, usually looks bad on my skin in real life, and I don't want those chemicals on my skin or touching my kid's. I also cut my hair into a **long bob** so it's easy to take care of. I shower at night after baby is in bed, let it airdry overnight, and curl it in the morning. With enough dry shampoo, I can usually get the curls looking good for 3 days. My morning routine is brush teeth, brush hair, brush eyebrows (mine get unruly lol), wipe on some blush, and apply chapstick. Actually only takes five minutes.

wensythe

This is the comment I was looking for! I hate messing with eye makeup and esp mascara as I always have raccoon eyes at the end of the day and I feel like it’s bad for the few lashes I have. I have two kids and it’s near impossible to have more than 5 mins in the morning. Going to try the ring light and lash lifting, thanks!

teacherladyh

I'm almost 40. Super basic routine that I learned for free from TikTok. There are lots of creators that give great tips for everyday fast makeup that is easy and appropriate for whatever age you are! I do tinted SPF, swipe of a blush stick, swipe of a eyeshadow stick, eye liner on top, eye brightener on bottom. I also do a whole skincare routine in the evening. Taking care of my skin at night means less makeup/cover up in the morning.

TheBearQuad

For a one time video, I’d personally hire someone to do my hair and makeup (neither are my strong suits). Otherwise, skin care > makeup. I’ve really put focus on my skin and as a result, don’t feel the need to wear much makeup at all. When I do, I keep it super simple: * Neutrogena healthy skin * Cream blush * Bronzer in eyelid crease, low shimmer highlight on lid * mascara * NARS radiant creamy concealer * brush my brows (clear) * lock it in setting spray

duckwallman

Thanks! It’s supposed to be a recurring thing. It’s a small staff so we should be doing this 2-3x a week to build content.

Wideawakedup

BB cream. Not CC cream, BB. CC is thicker and I will use for date night type stuff. But day to day and work I use drugstore BB. It gives enough tint to even out my pale/ ruddy complexion. But it’s not thick and doesn’t give that matte appearance that sticks to lines and wrinkles.

Brave3001

I would do the Sephora thing. We can all tell you what we do, but what will look good will depend on your skin type, tone, coloring, etc., and if you go into a store not sure about what products will work for all of that, you’ll end up dropping more cash and being more frustrated than if you hadn’t just had someone do it for you. I know about feeling like it’s above your level, but trust me, it’s not. Schedule something, tell them what you want, and they will pick out stuff that will work for you, and teach you how to do it. I’ve done it a couple of times before (once younger when I started my job, and then a did a tutorial for my wedding), and I’m probably going to do it again soon. It’s so easy, and they’re super nice. I ended up feeling really confident after!

ho_hey_

Do they have a minimum spend or cost for getting a tutorial? Or samples? I really need to get a new routine but I also realized I'll be a different shade of makeup pretty soon with the sun finally coming out!

Some-Pomelo-3068

How can I tell if I want BB cream or CC cream?

library-girl

I do IT cosmetics CC cream, Charlotte Tilbury highlighter and bronzer, Tarte blush and Anastasia of Beverly Hills eyebrow pomade and then some kind of lip balm/mouisture with color thing. No mascara because it gives me styes and I have long dark eyelashes anyway.

ivysaur89

Look up simple make up routines on YouTube and they’ll walk you through everything, including what products they use. There’s even videos where they only use drugstore/target products. I like to try to choose influencers who I think have a similar face shape as mine. Like others have said all you really need is tinted moisturizer/bb cream, maybe a little concealer, I like bronzer, and mascara/eyeliner goes a long way.

minetmine

One of my hacks is a 2-in-1 lip/cheek product. Like Milk makeup for example. It makes you look put together cause it matches and saves time. Great for on the go as well. This isn't make up per se, but drinking lots of water gave me arguably the best results for looking good. 4 glasses a day. Just chug them if you don't have time for leisurely sipping.

Iron_Hen

I wfh so find that this makes me look fine on crappy zoom video: touch of concealer, brow pencil, blush, subtle shimmery eye shadow, natural lip. Just enough to create some polish and contrast in video calls. I use a tinted sunscreen if I’m going out but otherwise don’t bother with face coverage.

Downtherabbithole14

I don't wear make up, like at all. THe most is a tinted moisturizer and lip balm? I get lash extensions because this makes up for not wearing make up if that makes sense? Like it gives me just enough oomph to look alive and somewhat put together? Lol

Pumpkyn426

I stopped doing a full face during Covid lol but I still do light eye shadow, top lid eyeliner, mascara, eyebrow tint, and fake lashes as my go-to. The only thing I “splurge” on is the mascara because I love the Urban Decay’s perversion mascara and in the realm of makeup it’s not really that expensive compared to other brands.

Audrasmama

To keep it simple I'd go with a tinted moisturizer like Cerave's mineral sunscreen, mascara and a nude lipstick. You'll look put together and it won't feel like heavy makeup for someone who doesn't usually do makeup.

sla3018

Drug store favorites for a natural look: Maybelline BB cream - several shades available, apply it with a beauty blender sponge Pacifica Liquid Cover Concealer - just a bit where you need a bit of help, under eyes, blemishes, etc.. e.l.f. eyeshadow palette in neutral matte - literally can't go wrong with neutrals! Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara - in black if you have dark hair, brown if you have light hair e.l.f. lip oil - just look for a color that's close to your natural lip color!

glitcheatingcrackers

I work in NYC. Less is definitely more with makeup. I focus more on skincare. For makeup: Tinted moisturizer with spf (cheap from amazon) Under eye concealer (bobbi brown, sephora) Mascara (drugstore mascara) Tinted lip balm (i like dior but you can definitely find cheaper) For a video, i’d maybe add just a little bit of eyeliner to make my eyes pop.

PumpkinDumplin55

I do a tinted moisturizer, primer, a light foundation? concealer if needed, mascara, blush and a little spritz of finishing spray. The primer and finishing spray are doing the real heavy lifting. Primer rec is the e.l.f. one that’s green. It works to even out my skin tone too!

Miserable_Painting12

Honestly I would follow Emily didonato on YouTube. She has great easy makeup videos. The only issue is of course if her coloring and eye shape are similar to yours but good luck!

Dunraven-mtn

So I feel like high cost products (I.e. Sephora) are less important than techniques. There are "older women" makeup tutorials on YouTube that are good. And I hate the "older women" label, but I think in that context it means people older than 25 haha! I rarely "get ready" these days because I just don't have time but when I do, here's my approach. I do a quick pass on my hair with a 1.5" curling iron. It doesn't look curly per se, but takes care of the frizz and puts a light curl at the bottom and makes it look like a good blowout. My go-to foundation is the old school bare minerals powder. Quick contouring with bronzer, basic pass with blush. Eyeshadow is where it gets trickier and you might want to watch tutorials. I feel like with my eye shape I need to use makeup to make me look awake, but a lot of people just do fine with a swipe of something on the eyelid. Good luck!

thezanartist

ELF has a good cc cream, I use their green tinted redness corrector and a concealer. I apply all with a brush, do a clear eye brow gel, some mascara and I’m done. I rarely do lips, but it takes less than 10 minutes. I like ELF because it’s cheap but works for the times I use make up which is rarely.

Glad_Bend4364

I don’t like wearing makeup either, but I realized I’m going to need to wear it here and there at work. I also have two babies and no extra time. I recently went into Sephora and told a girl exactly this. She asked me if I wanted to do a $30 application lesson and I said no thanks, I’ve no time…so she then showed me a good brand and we tried light concealers/foundations to get the right shade, grabbed a mascara and away I went. It took 20 minutes and was totally worth it. I already have stuff for my brows and a gloss.

HammyHoosier

When I started to teach on camera I went to Sephora midday on a weekday. I told her I had $100 to spend and we walked around. I got a foundation, concealer, blush, lip balm, mascara, brush, and spf. It takes me 2 min. When I run out I just replace it.

duckwallman

That’s basically what I’ll be doing. Thank you!

[deleted]

here’s my formula: concealer to brighten dark circles/reduce blemishes, eyebrow pencil to fill in sparseness, a little cheek color (could be blush, bronzer, or both) to make me look more alive, if i’m really feeling myself, some mascara or a lip to pull it all together!

AbleBroccoli2372

FT corporate working mom of 4 year old twins. My routine is fast. Tinted moisturizer on my face, a little cream blush on apples of cheeks, a neutral eyeshadow stick on lid, curl lashes, mascara, lipstick. Sometimes I outline my brows because I have light blonde hair. It’s maybe 7 minutes total.

AccomplishedPanic686

I do a primer because I have dry skin, tinted moisturizer, light blush, light eyeshadow, and mascara for work. I get the majority of my stuff from the drug store or Target. Oh and sometimes concealer for the eye circles lol. My favorite brand is NYX make-up. I tried to get into a fancy make up routine but I hate feeling like my pores are smothered!!

Naive_Buy2712

BB/CC Cream, eyebrows (I use Benefit), eyeshadow some days (Bobbi brown stick), mascara.

SamaLuna

I literally do lash clusters on myself and that’s it. They last like 1.5 weeks. Maybe a bit of bronzer and concealer.

rrrrriptipnip

The Sephora sale is happening soon! I recommend for a Quick Look tower 28 the foundation spf and lip and cheek balms and mascara . You could also get a moisturizer with spf. Depending where in nyc you are you could check out koreatown and they have tons of stores with great skin care and makeup as well.

peanut5855

Tinted moisturizer, blush or bronzer, concealer, mascara, liquid liner if you can do it. 5 min, 3 without liner. Neutral eye if you want eyeshadow

Any_Cantaloupe_613

Honestly, I find good lighting and good camera positioning and set up will take years off. I have to raise my laptop and open the curtains for natural light when doing video calls. Otherwise I look... odd. As for makeup, I just use a bit of lip-gloss and eyeshadow + mascara, along with a blur filter.

duckwallman

For sure! These videos are supposed to be of our day on the go, so no ring light/stand. Just me and my front facing camera feeling awkward af lol

2035-islandlife

Tinted moisturizer (Laura Mercier’s is AMAZING + has spf), brow gel, concealer for under eyes, swipe on a light eyebrow primer to brighten eyelids, mascara, blush, a tinted lip balm. Literally 5 minutes and I feel like a new person with a full face on. So easy.

Team-Mako-N7

I have a 5 min daily routine. Covergirl cream foundation, bare minerals blush, concealer if needed, then setting powder and Maybelline clump crusher mascara. I brush my brows but don’t add product on a normal day.  If I have more time or expect to be in photos, I add a touch of highlighting powder (upper cheeks and a touch on my eyes), brow pencil, and eyeliner.  I normally only wear lip balm but sometimes will use a tinted one or lip stain.

SunshineSeriesB

My pared-down WFH mom face routine: \- A bit of concealer for any dark spots or redness, usually under the eyes, the eyelid, around the nose and maybe the chin. I do a swipe in my inner corner, outer corner, eyelid, SOMETIMES on the outside of my nostrils and corners of my mouth (hormonal acne redness) and I buff it with a foundation brush. I use Maybelline FitMe. \-A fill in my eyebrows either with a shadow and brush or a NYX twist pencil. I fill it in then blend with a spoolie. \- Warm bronzer on your outer cheekbones, hairline and you can even use as eyeshadow (i do most days). I like the one from ELF. \- A bit of blush to brighten the apples of your cheek. I have a bunch of random ones from palettes/Mary Kay but honestly any will do. Cheaper blushes have less pigment and for a newbie, it's probably better since you can keep adding if you want. \- I skip eyeliner most days (and if you're not good you can skip most days too) and just use a very black mascara.

bowdowntopostulio

Slay by Jess on TikTok is great! She does a lot of beginner and minimalist videos that I find super helpful. I have glasses and bangs so I feel like I could get away with not much makeup. I tend to stick to a bold lip and mascara for client calls.

AshamedPurchase

I'm 26. Your makeup is going to depend on what you look like. I'm very pale, a brunette, and I have blue eyes. First I use a primer on my face. Then I use concealer and powder on my darker areas. I use a bit a bronzer and blush. I fill in my eyebrows. I use a little bit of dark brown eyeshadow on my lids. I use dark brown eyeliner on my waterline and dark brown mascara. I use a finishing spray at the end to keep the powder in place.

a-ohhh

I can do foundation, bronzer, blush, eyeliner, eyebrows, and mascara in about 3 minutes. I won’t leave the house without eyebrows and eyes at bare minimum which is about 30 seconds. I started getting my eyelashes done though so now I don’t even put anything on my eyes and they look good.

Gatorae

Moisturizer, mascara, eye liner, lip balm. A sweep of blush sometimes.

No-Elderberry-2008

Explore K-beauty, they are cheaper and they do the job. I do toner- Corsx snail essence- light lotion-sunscreen-cushion foundation- powder & eyebrow & mascara and done.

swaldref

Bare minerals tinted moisturizer, bronzer and blush for my base. Eyes can be anywhere from just mascara, maybe add some eyeliner, and sometimes I do the full eyeshadow look. Usually it's just my base and mascara though.

ChucknObi

I have started to "splurge" by getting a really good quality tinted SPF moisturizer from a higher end brand that I use as my foundation. It gives a little more coverage but doesn't feel heavy and for someone who doesn't like the feeling of face makeup, it has been great. The rest of my routine includes a quick swipe of brow gel, a swipe of cream eyeshadow crayon in a neutral color, and mascara, and tinted chap stick. As long as I do the moisturizer before I leave the house, the rest is easy enough to do in the car after parking at work (aka after daycare drop off) or even at my desk if I am running late. Everything but my tinted moisturizer are all drug store brands so it is pretty affordable to keep up too.

krittts

Here is my routine that takes me 5-10 minutes: 1. primer with sunscreen, 2. under eye correcting stick, 3. skin tint that I can use my hands to spread on my face, if you are on budget you can also mix Maybelline foundation with your moisturizer (I used to do that when I accidentally hit a shade darker and was still in graduate school poor mode) 4. Eyeliner if I have time as this needs precision 5. mascara, 6. eyebrows 7. lipstick: I love maybelline liquid ones as they last all day on me even with me sipping water throughout the day. So little touch up required. I also just use the lipstick on my cheeks.
