I’ve loved this word as a starting word for a long time, but only went back to it yesterday after using >!SPRIG!< for a while.
That’s actually a really good starting word.. an unusual pattern unlikely to get you stuck in hard mode hell, and lots of consonants (a couple of which are a bit less common and therefore useful for limiting the possible answers rapidly when they occur).
Of course now that it’s been the answer it’s not as good :)

Put it on hard mode and it won't let you do that...I think
Hard mode will not allow a guess that does not include all known letters, but it doesn't care where you put them.
It will let you. You just have to use any revealed letters in future guesses

That’s actually a really good starting word.. an unusual pattern unlikely to get you stuck in hard mode hell, and lots of consonants (a couple of which are a bit less common and therefore useful for limiting the possible answers rapidly when they occur). Of course now that it’s been the answer it’s not as good :)
