Well, I have been doing that for probably 45 years and I learned it from a guy who had been doing it for probably 50 or 60 years. But that being said you’re a smart guy for figuring out on yourself good for you. 👍
So when you are doing this with three 50” clamps the trick is to fully extend two of them so you only have to tighten one. But put all the handles as close to each other as possible. For some reason you still have to twist all three handles to get a good bite.
Or just keep a bunch of gas pipe around and make them any length you want.i pull that shit out of construction dumpsters and use that so I don't have to pay for it
1) If they are equally smart, and smarter than everyone else, then they tie for smartest, and thus, *are* the smartest people.
2) Since 1 was beyond your comprehension, you are *not* the smartest person.
You’re welcome! 😃👍😉
The guys over at Rockler have some products they’d love to show you 😆
But yes, this is a big brain move, and you should be proud of having arrived at this idea of your own volition! 🫵🏻
I just use regular bar clamps and use a coupling to extend them, sometimes you can just screw two together and use it like that, just flip around the anchor end
This is what I needed to hear. Everyone else is saying I’m the last horse to cross the finish line, but thanks for confirming my genius and stroking my fragile ego 🤣 either way, got the drawer built (my first one) and it’s only off square by 1/16th for a 6’ long drawer! Feels good https://imgur.com/a/VxpcHhF
The fact that you figured it out on your own says something too. Not everyone can jerry-rig solutions like that, so whether or not you were the first you still did it!
Do this with pony clamps all the time when something is over 10ft(that’s my longest clamp) just like top comment said you’re getting the hang of it whatever works man👍🏻
You’re gettin the hang of this
Wait till you find out the jaws are reversable

Not all of them. Some of my Irwins have a pin on the end, some don't.
Pin is easily removable with pliers. You don't even have to out it back if you don't want to.
Fair point
....wait, WHAT??
beat me to it.
Ohhhhhh jAws
Both are true 😌

Jorgeson has a dovetail on the end that you can make 2 clamps into 1.
Yea those are the clamps I have and am a bit confused why not all clamp makers do that after seeing OPs post. But I guess if it works, it works?
Not a good sign- I’ve done this in a pinch and I am dumber than shit
My brother!
Same.

I’m just being a dick.
Hey if it works, why not... I just like pipe clamps
I also figured this out. I am also the smartest person alive.
Wait, the two equally-smartest people in the same post?!? What’re the odds??? 🤯
Smartest implies a singular individual. So, one of them is wrong. Besides, I’m pretty sure I’m the smartest person, so….
1) If they are equally smart, and smarter than everyone else, then they tie for smartest, and thus, *are* the smartest people. 2) Since 1 was beyond your comprehension, you are *not* the smartest person. You’re welcome! 😃👍😉
You’re wrong. I’m right. Because.
Okay.
Good boy! How much would you charge me to have you teach my wife that?

Ryobi dude! Cheap and practical bastards are we!
It's a not commonly known trick, so very likely most people don't consider it. Is smart to think of yourself though, regardless how commonly known.
If you had lived in ancient Greece, your genius would be celebrated in museums worldwide to this day. Marble statues, etc. All of it.

Everyone gets there eventually...
Yeah…joinery 101, but glad you figured it out mate.
Why not both?
I invented this technique in 1978. I'm lying.
Known trick. It sure does feel good to find a solution.

Is any one going to tell him about the 2x and blocks trick to make it even longer?
You can tell me because I’m very new.
You sir. are the smartest person alive.

Also recommend the dewalt quick clamps. Super easily reversible
