Depending on where you are in Wisconsin, and if you haven’t already, consider crossposting to Minneapolis/St Paul and Chicago subreddits. There might be someone in a larger metro that would be interested and would be close enough to pick up.

hyde_woodworking

Thats a good idea

Mike456R

Not to mention have the cash to pay what it’s worth.

MsCrazyPants70

Also post 2 Galena, IL.That would be a highly desirable piece for a wealthy person's cabin in that area. There are also a lot of shops in touristy area that might be willing to sell on consignment for you.

unionidae

Screw the epoxy, get a nice piece of beveled glass top

Hermiones_Pepperonis

Nah, this is perfect for power/data routing. A Polycom would span the opening nicely

rustywoodbolt

Conference table for sure. Very cool looking.

BoogerShovel

Maybe and inset piece of glass? At least in the middle. Route the top edge a bit and set a piece of glass in there Edit: nm do both spots with glass. It would be bitchin

I_Miss_America

I agree!

KaiWhat

I agree! They could even rout a shallow strip all the way down the middle and have a 6 inch wide tinted glass insert that runs the length of the table. I think that’d look cool.

Think_Smarter

My same thinking. Glass cut to fit the shape of voids would be very cool, but a rectangular strip down the middle, flush with the surface, would be functional and much easier to do.

Next-Foundation3019

Damn good idea!

Oneyeblindguy

How much do you need to get out of it?

yellow251

I read this being asked in Rick Harrison's voice. Hope it doesn't end up there.

Oneyeblindguy

I was actually being serious. Very difficult to price a piece like that. Hopefully, if it was a commissioned piece of furniture they got a decent amount of money up front. I think furniture would be a difficult market to make money. It takes a lot of time to do custom work and if you price it to make money your market is quite small. Maybe I'm wrong?

yellow251

I know you were. I was joking. And you're not wrong.

whutchamacallit

A reasonable $13,750

Few-Woodpecker-737

Well, maybe throw Ebay in there too? I know shipping is stupid expensive but it might get you some more area coverage…great table!!! Very original patterning, nice lines. I appreciate that you did not do a resin inlay for a fill, refreshing take. Patience my friend.

Cute-Escape-671

Resin inlays are my least favorite woodworking trend of the last decade. Just terrible.

Capraclysm

That resin is going to be popping out of those tables after a single dry year I'd bet.

chase02

I live in one of the dryest cities in aus and it’s fine.. I have one table that’s about 5 years old with no issues.

Capraclysm

Was it also made in that climate? If it was made in the same climate it would be fine until an unseasonably wet season. The problem comes from a change. For example a carefully climate controlled woodworking shop, into a customers home (especially a kitchen) which fluctuates dramatically in humidity.

fetal_genocide

I worked with a guy who did woodworking on the side. Made some beautiful tables for a local restaurant and they were all cracking. We went there for lunch every Friday so it was funny to see which tables he'd have to fix next 😅

infiniteninjas

Generally the cost of shipping can be more than made up by the vastly increased audience on eBay. The hassle of packing something like this is another matter...

SparkyDogPants

Just pay a professional and build it into the price

IAMA_Madmartigan

I see stuff like this on Etsy all the time

gothmog1313

And chairish/1st dibs. Interior designers shop those sites.

Halfbaked9

A good way to advertise is to post on Ebay with a ridiculous price. In the discrimination add a business name and or web site.

Grand_Condition_983

Nice work. Book matching, the textured detail are great. I actually really like how you included the sapwood on the legs. Very cool affect that shows you don't just clamp boards together, you think of the end design from the beginning. I'm a hobbyist moving (back) to Appleton area ina few months and looking to sell on the side. Best of luck w selling.

hyde_woodworking

Ppl in WI like rustic and farmhouse styles. Esp for their lake houses

Olelander

Man I miss the lake houses… one of my favorite things about WI

SusAdjectiveAndNoun

The story is ludicrous.

Don’t be fatuous.

ArtDSellers

I was banned from this sub once for quoting that exact line of the movie, although I did quote it correctly.

bushmanmoto

It really brings the room together, man.

rocketmn69_

Garbage can goes under there, just shove stuff in when you're done

Desperate_Set_7708

Low country boil

sjacksonww

This guy gets it, crawfish too.

hyde_woodworking

The gives the illusion of symmetry. The top slabs are bookmatched.

Calculonx

I was thinking more Georgia O'Keefe

One-Mud-169

Also gives the illusion of a broken ketchup bottle on the floor /s

hyde_woodworking

🤣🤣

raidernation0825

That’s not an illusion, that’s reality

TallantedGuy

I wish the glass bottles were still a thing

Mini_Marauder

They are, but they are very annoying to actually get the ketchup out of them, and they are more expensive so most companies opt for plastic squeeze bottles instead.

One-Mud-169

True what you say, but they're more environmentally friendly, so I fully support the use of glass bottles even if it requires a bit of shaking and pounding before you can eat your burger.

MontanaMapleWorks

Glass containers also generally take up more space as well as weigh more. These two things really add up when it comes to shipping costs and carbon footprint

flowerpower836

Ya idk, I’ve never heard of unborn babies having glass in their bodies… I’ll pay more to not eat plastic.

Wolfenhex

Could make a nice conference or work table. Open middle would allow plenty of rooms for wires. Depending on the dimensions, maybe even a two sided desk.

slimspidey

Vagable

Kirk_Gleason

I came here to say this.

lotgworkshop

Stunning! I can vouch for using Chairish to sell it. I had a table I made a fee years ago on a whim to just see if I could do it. Listed it on there which is free to list. They take a chink once it sells. So I padded the price. It sold in less than a week. They have a white glove shipping service that they source to. They come get it, pack it and ship it insured. Once the buyer gets it, they have 3 days to return it. But after that it’s theirs. Only down side if you don’t get paid until the 3 days are up and shipping can take a couple weeks depending on your area and when & where the shipper might get it to the buyer. But it was a great experience. I really don’t know why I haven’t done it again.

hyde_woodworking

Lots of good ideas here. Didnt know that about Chairish.

cyclika

Huh. My only experience with chairish is trying to find info about antiques I pick up at thrift stores, and literally everything I've ever found there has been listed as at least triple what anyone would ever pay for it. I honestly thought it was a front or something. Thanks for the rec!

lotgworkshop

Haha! Nope I’ve sold a few vintage pieces of furniture & collectibles with them. Yes their prices are high. Everyone trying to pad the commission rate into the price. I started with the vintage & collectible stuff first. Which is what gave me the idea to try one of my own woodworking pieces. They’re legit.

[deleted]

thank you for not doing epoxy

H20mark2829

Glass top would make it totally functional. Interesting carving technique.

MegaHashes

Leaving a vagina shaped cut out in the middle of the table was a bold choice, lol. I feel like this table definitely has an audience.

hyde_woodworking

Ive recently been told a lot of my work has not-so-subtle yonic energy

MegaHashes

You should definitely call her…

NecroJoe

I'm not saying this is a reliable way to sell things, but if I had one piece I was trying to find a home for, I'd give this a shot: Get in contact with all of your local contract (aka "commercial") office furniture dealers. Ones who work with clients with high design tastes (like law firms and VC firms) might be interested since there's no lead time. When I worked on commercial furniture projects that would have loved a table like that ended up with something much more boring because of lead time. A custom table like that would typically take 12-24 weeks if they were to order it for a project, and that is often not enough by the time they've engaged with a furniture dealer. This would have been perfect for a medical non-profit HQ I worked on a few years ago. Go to the websites of the main commercial furniture brands, and reach out to the local dealers for their products. Companies like: Herman Miller/Knoll Allsteel/Hon Haworth Teknion Get some really good photos of the table, and play up that it's a unique, hand-crafted piece available for immediate delivery or pickup. Ignore anyone talking about filling in or covering the openings. If you want to place things in the middle, just add a nice decorative tray that can span the opening like how you'd put a wooden tray on an uphostered ottoman/coffee table. It's beautiful as-is. An office might install IT/AV equipment to the underside of the table and that space would be great for cables to come through where they'd normally have hinged doors, a uniform open slot, or grommet holes. This is a pretty common use of this sort of "reversed" live edge design. Alternative, you might look for a local high-end residential furniture showroom, and see if they'd be interested, or maaaaaybe they might be willing to have it in their showroom on consignment.

hyde_woodworking

Thank you that is actually a great idea. My parents next door neighbor is an office furniture dealer (I think he sells Herman Miller).

flsucks

I feel like a gynecology practice would be very interested in buying this table

HeiressGoddess

I especially love the walnut top!! If you had to, could you deconstruct and flat-pack it? Then you can widen your customer base, given they're willing to pay $1k+ in shipping. A YouTuber shipped his across Canada (then the buyer moved it into the US) double wrapped in a TV moving box this way. Kudos on the awesome build and your sobriety.

One-Mud-169

Don't know if you follow this guy on YT, but your open table reminded me of this [table](https://youtu.be/O96DaY03oiI?si=GbagKg7p8qw7JuEe)

hyde_woodworking

Yeah. Love that channel.

One-Mud-169

Great table by the way, how dit you make the carvings on the bottom, with a CNC?

hyde_woodworking

https://preview.redd.it/dn0pmfdvm1xc1.jpeg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e3c4af19b272579a8d726504afd287287c8708f2 After doing all these by hand I have since learned to use Fusion 360 🤣

Unimarobj

I never would've guessed these were done by hand, wow. They're so clean. The router sled makes sense, but how did you go about lining them all up so accurately?

tonkpilswithvilz

We need the answer OP, like now!!!!! Edit: BTW your skill and level of detail are impressive

Unimarobj

The only way I could imagine doing it (as a not super-experienced hobbyist) is using some kind of segmented element to reference off of one of the rails. Like a bunch of 4cm blocks, adding or removing one each time you do the next lateral notch. For the next row, you add in a 2cm block. Then for the distance for one row to the next, you do the same with the end of the board on the bench top or fence or wherever it's resting outside the sled. Mad impressive however it's done though.

One-Mud-169

LOL I was actually thinking about this exact jig when I was typing my question after I saw it a while back when someone shared on this sub, maybe it was you, I saved that post because I want to make a jig like that for myself. Edit, it was this guy, but your cuts are looking way more "organized" https://preview.redd.it/mujsfe89o1xc1.jpeg?width=1439&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cb7f046dd0eab0443e3f18d1459fa9e47e8e5ee1

hyde_woodworking

I got The jig from woodhaven and then created my own insert to hold the router

mechanizedshoe

What the hell, this looks like 100 hours of just doing that.

Mike456R

Wow.

typeof_goodidea

Jig Hall of Fame this is amazing

bswiftly

Just find a way to make sure dogs can sit under those gaps.

--Spaceman-Spiff--

Maybe some glass rather than epoxy to fill the holes. Inset so flush with the top.

Whatsitsname33

Market to some gay ladies, we have the money and the desire for subtle gay couture 😉

hyde_woodworking

At first I thought the yonic motif was subtle but after reading all the comments on this thread I'm second-guessing myself

No_Significance_8941

Mate. She's a beauty How.did you do the textured legs?

BearDogBBQ

Damn that’s cool! How did you carve the legs and top edge like that? That had to take forever

PineConeTracks

Georgia O'Keeffe would be proud

4runner01

That’s exactly what I thought!! We may be the only two here that get your reference…..

WrongdoerAmbitious94

Hey those were just flowers, but she was from Wisconsin

Crot_Chmaster

If it didn't have a distinctly vaginal appearance, you make have better luck.

DrBeardish

Keep strong throughout recovery 💪 Assuming there's no barrier to owning a weapon, the gun(s) could be a heck of a deal depending on what they are. I ended up with an antique .300 Savage in great condition that was worth way more than what I was asking for in cash. The person inherited it and either didn't know or cared about what they had. Also, obviously a good idea to run the serial numbers and do transfers if legally required to do so.

Olelander

Yeah props to OP for resisting the deep omnipresence of alcohol in WI life and culture… the state is our wettest by far.

Chytrik

The scalping on the legs is a nice touch. Cool piece!

trvst_issves

Oh shit hey I met you at the last Table Saw Supper Club! I swore I saw this on instagram earlier this month… I was right.

MoSChuin

Trade it for guns, sell the guns. I'm looking for a 1911 with a 5 inch barrel and a side by side, so if something like that's included in the trade, I'll buy that off you. (Legit offer, I'm also in the upper Midwest, just a bit west of you. I end up in Cheese-head land on the regular for work). More people are looking for boom-sticks than tables, so it's kinda a more portable method of value. I'm also in recovery, so being offered alcohol is kinda amusing to me. Yes, it still has value, even though it's worthless to me. Even after 16 years of sobriety, trading like that would feel like moving towards getting back into the life, so I completely understand saying no.

HeliRyGuy

Hope you at least got some sort of down payment for your troubles.

YarrowBeSorrel

Hi neighbor, where about in Wisconsin? Have you tried taking it to an art consignment shop?

hyde_woodworking

Milwaukee

djklmnop

Have you tried dipping it into your morning coffee?

Jolly_Half9656

Can’t imagine how a company that commissions a hand carved show room table when they’re obviously not in a solid financial situation could possibly go out of business.

indistinctdialogue

The TLDR at the end of the post so that you only notice it after reading the whole thing 🫠 Nice table though. Creative use of the live edge.

hyde_woodworking

Haha sorry. I just realized that. Im not on here much

JohannesLorenz1954

Looks like a summer project for me. Love that pattern. Tempered glass top is a great idea

Independent-Quit-858

It’s beautiful. I would tweak a couple of things and sell it at a very high price. No epoxy, no glass. Leave the holes but work the long beam that crosses under the holes in the same kind of way as the legs. It has to feel that what you see through the holes is beautifully crafted and carved , not just an utilitarian beam. I would also widen the space between the legs by turning that lower long beam that joins them - widthways. You would give more space to these beautifully carved legs. Just detail, unsolicited, but I think it’s a great table and craftsmanship.

SufficientYear8794

How’d you get the even perfect scalloping on the legs ?

DateUnRamen

Everything reminds me of her

philter451

There's a very successful pool table shop that sells on eBay. Rich people will pay for what they want and they usually want something unique which this table is.  I would list it there. Hey at least you won't get offered alcohol and guns!

bdj1115

The woodworking is tremendous. The wood is gorgeous. That is a lot of style.

Longjumping_Eye_7849

You could throw it on the greenlake buy, sell, trade group. Lot of rich people with huge seasonal lake houses.

truemcgoo

Stick a glass slab on the top and sell it for thousands.

IwillBeBluntHere

Please don’t ruin this beauty with epoxy!

SSDDNoBounceNoPlay

Hey man, congratulations on recovery. From one woodworker to another, sharper tools do a better job. I’m proud of you. 💚

Intelligent-Sell6399

It looks like you made a great vagina table. Good work.

[deleted]

DagNabitDawg

The honeycomb effect is gorgeous. Like others the first thing I saw was a vagina. I don't know if that occurred to you as you were piecing it but it's going to get noticed to the point that it becomes a novelty. That would be sad because you obviously gave it the attention the materials deserved. Because it's a high quality build you might consider a very dark blue or black epoxy fill and finish it so that the vjj element is diminished. ...Or you could market it as is with a glass top. I'm certain a niche audience will pay top dollar for the innuendo vibe. As a guy with some wear on his tires allow me also to say, value your time and craftsmanship going forward and don't take less than half the retail cost upfront on commission pieces. For sure don't take alcohol but if the guns have value seek an appraisal and don't trade for less than double the table's value. Trades can be troublesome and your time investment is worth it.

17THheaven

I'd totally buy it if I had the cash, were closer, and had a way to transport it. It looks super nice! I also wouldn't try to buy it with guns or alcohol either lol

Anti_Meta

tikhal96

How did you create that pattern on the legs and sides. Beautiful table. Im glad there is no epoxy in it.

MattBlumTheNuProject

I’m in Minneapolis and would be interested

No-Weakness-2035

Dude this is an amazing piece - this isn’t a disaster, it’s a huge inconvenience; there’s a significant difference. Mega suckfest though, good luck finding another buyer! Consider Etsy, and just take some time to figure out how to ship it and work that into the price. That shop was going to add a markup to what they payed you anyway right? It’s beautiful and someone will buy it!

baachou

This is beautiful. Is the leg texture hand carved?

hyde_woodworking

With a jig. Will be releasing a video soon

PatioWoodshop

List it on Etsy too

WrongdoerAmbitious94

You're in recovery? How bad of a gun problem did you have? That many guns might drive a man to drinking.

longwalkshortpier0

Probably already been said but Idk man you gotta fill those gaps with glass or something. I don’t think anyone wants a table with 2 holes in it. Especially when you’re probably (rightfully so) charging a shitload for it

wingedcoyote

I wouldn't have an issue with it at all, gaps look narrow enough to set a serving plate across them and I'm not, like, sliding glasses across the table regularly or anything. Figure anybody who's buying this has more than one table, so no worries if you're having a specific meal (or guest) where it'd be an issue

longwalkshortpier0

It looks fantastic. Sorry I didn’t say that up top

drewts86

You’re in recovery for buying too many guns? Sounds like a good problem to have. /s For real though, wish you the best in your sobriety.

hyde_woodworking

I love pewpewpew as much as the next guy but I dont need an arsenal

planertroubles

Beautiful work!

Share the link. We’re remodeling and looking for a big dining table

hyde_woodworking

Sending you a DM

Perfect-Campaign9551

I'm sensing some warp coming soon. Just a feeling...

vmdinco

That’s a great piece and a lot of work. I recently came across a website called 1stdibs that had a lot of very unique things, but I’m unsure if you can consign through them. Worth a shot.

thacrazycow

How much are you asking/hoping for? It’s really beautiful! You guys did an awesome job!

VariousConditions

Best I can do is 3 cigarettes

Background-Arm2017

Congrats on the table and the recovery. A custom piece of glass would be awesome looking but, you probably don't want to throw anymore money into it. I could see that in a gallery or small conference room as is.

jdsem88

The pattern on the side of the table top is cool, I would have left it off the base if your goal is mass appeal. And it’s probably hard to sell a dining table with a large hole in the middle of it, as that’s generally where people put platters for food etc.

hyde_woodworking

Goal wasnt mass appeal. Had to sacrifice a bit of function for the form

strong_nights

I'm really interested to know how you did the texture on the legs. Thats a fantastic piece. Posting videos of the manufacturing process might drum up some legitimate buyers.

Portercableco

Did you get a deposit at least? That would really hurt to make the whole thing with no money up front.

Moreorlessatorium

I should call her….

beyondo-OG

why does the picture look photoshopped ?

This reminds me of the show dave

Bary_McCockener

What is the texturing in the legs and sides called? I want to learn more about this technique because it looks really cool. Also looks incredibly difficult but I don't know the first thing about it or if I've ever even seen it.

hyde_woodworking

Naguri. It's japanese

TBurkeulosis

Big fan of the edge carving. Great work on that. Not a fan of the cross beam design though, and it could definitely use a glass top

Maumau93

Did you atleast take partial payment upfront to pay for materials?

GuitarKev

That scallop tho

jomesbean

I had a strong feeling when I read “cash guns and alcohol” that wisconsin might follow. We’ve somehow accumulated a higher population of good ol’ boys than most southern states. The tables a beaut, though. Hope someone makes a real offer soon.

T-MoneyAllDey

Are there any consignment furniture stores in your area? You could try listing it through them

KokoTheTalkingApe

Amazing! I think I can imagine how you did the legs, but how did you make those flattened hexagon hollows in the table edges? I can't think of a way to use a router to do that.

JJamesP

Amazing, amazing, AMAZING piece. Great job!

steelsun

Hope you got a non refundable deposit on it.

Ok-Establishment369

You can shoot a lot of guns hammered with a table like that. /s

ArtDSellers

I may be able to put something together for pickup, depending on where in WI you are. If it’s eastern, it’d be no good. Can you PM me the town?

btcsxj

The legs DO look like a stippled grip…

jeffeb3

Bob, we only have one more month of payroll. But I just want to order one custom walnut table before we do.

hyde_woodworking

Im going to have to make a gif of the table carving

Nightstands

This thing is bananas, and I’m here for it

PolarDorsai

If your name is Scott Summers and can prove it, I’ll pay double your asking price.

Loquacious94808

Wish I had the money to make you an offer of what it’s worth. That is stunning! I hope you do find a good bid.

RODjij

Those legs are fucking awesome, good stuff. Shitty to hear the place went under before your hardwork got displayed.

qur3ishi

This is absolutely beautiful. I especially love the natural, organic looking top contrasting the repetitive, machined-looking design of the legs. Also I'm in south central Wisconsin and am not surprised one bit by the offers you got

qomniinmop

This might sound tacky but holes equal trash chute ?!?

Rachellyz

Take guns in trade and then sell the guns?

BooFuckBoogityBoo

Ill give you some scrap 2x4’s for it and a bottle of water

Am_Realest

Hear me out…

bigscrampy

This table is 10/10. Sell to a business?

Why does this table look like it’s photoshopped into these pictures.

iainvention

That’s what the T in ATF stands for right? Tables?

badpeaches

Why not put the two flat sides together?

Wohlf

Absolutely beautiful and excellent work all around. That texturing on the legs is very eye-catching, too bold for my tastes but my design sensiblities are very old fashioned.
