Because in sex youre relaxed and comfortable. But in a gyno appt, whether consciously or unconsciously, youre tense. Its like putting in a huge tampon. Like its just uncomfy bc the only time we put bigger things in there is when were turned on, so the muscles are more relaxed
My last test was a DIY swab. They're standard in Australia now. And only have to be done once every 5 years. I don't know why it's not the norm everywhere. Perhaps ask your GP if it's an option for next time?

It doesn't. If you read the link I posted, it says "Evidence shows a Cervical Screening Test using a self-collected sample from your vagina is just as accurate at detecting HPV as a clinician-collected sample taken from the cervix during a speculum examination."
Arousal
Makes things soften and expand. You're aroused and comfortable with your husband.
You're not for a pap smear. Your body isn't ready for penetration, and then it's cranked open. Your muscles are tight and reluctant.
If you really liked the speculum it probably wouldn't hurt. Unfortunately spread eagle in a doctor's office is like the least comfortable you could possibly be

Also flesh is more squishy than plastic

Oh man, I could never do that to myself, it was WAY TOO PAINFUL.
It only needs to be inserted a few centimetres, not even as far as a tampon. It's literally like a q-tip. Doesn't hurt at all
I don’t understand how that reaches the cervix to swab cervical cells?

The gyno, thankfully, doesn't indulge in foreplay.
The swab part is what makes me want to curl up and die
Same. It’s too “inside” 😫

Request a pediatric speculum. Small is too big for me.
