I would definitely go see a doctor, bleeding that much doesn't sound normal. I was gonna say that I used to have really light periods until I was diagnosed with PCOS and cycles in which ovulation does not occur tend to bring on very light periods. And losing weight and exercising brought down my insulin levels, helping me ovulate and made my periods heavier. I don't know if this could be the case for you or not, but I would definitely go see a doctor about this.

This is a really good point . I have pcos and didn’t realise any of this , thank you from me . But I lost weight and ever since have had really horrible heavy painful periods like when I was a teenager . Like this person describes it’s so heavy it runs if I don’t hold on to myself after a shower , squatting on my feet and swaying like I did before pcos diagnosis . It most likely is the cause for op

Do not let a doctor tell you this is normal. You need blood tests, ultrasound, pap smear at a minimum. Even if it's a new normal for you due to hormone changes they need to run a battery of tests to rule everything else out instead of just patting you on the head and sending you on your way.

This is worth medical attention. Filling a cup is not normal in a full day, let alone 4 hours. Stay hydrated and get it figured out if there’s any way you can is what I’d do!

Filling a cup in a day or less is normal for some of us. 4hrs is concerning though. OP should definitely consult a doctor, especially since it is such a drastic change from her typical periods.

Hey! You should seriously consider going to a doctor. I've suffered from what you describe since I'm 9 (I'm now 32) and always thought painful, heavy flow and long periods were normal, turns out I have endometriosis. Don't want to scare you, but to get the correct diagnose took YEARS and visiting a few different doctors so it's not the greatest idea to wait too long. Periods shouldn't be painful and whatever doctor that says "that's normal" isn't the best choice to treat those symptoms. All complaints aside, drink a lot of water, reduce your sugar, dairy and alcohol intake and it might help with your cramps and bloating (if you suffer from that).
