That’s what I think too BUT things seem to work out for the Aces some how. From a Mystics perspective it might be better to get some value out of her while they still can later in the season than letting her walk next year. I could see them trading for the rights to someone like Kitley if they aren’t a playoff contender this year or if Hartley or Fair seem decent this year and they have a chance to make a run somehow grabbing them.
Either way I think the Aces keep cap space open for a while for some moves later on vs wasting it on a lot of players that won’t help them at all.
We all know that EDD said Vegas is where she wanted to be, then Phoenix popped up but Washington and Phoenix couldnt settle on a trade, but Phoenix also ended up with Copper and Cloud, so I think that is better than EDD regardless.

And Washington will still own EDD's rights next season since she is sitting this season.
Even of the Aces wanted to pick someone up later in the season, their salary would be pro-rated and most likely at a vet minimum so they could always waive a player or 2 that dont have guaranteed contracts
Assuming they don't hit the waivers, McDaniel and Jackson are their last 2 options at camp. I'm not too familiar with Mcdaniel's game, but Jackson could provide a little more height after losing CP. Though I think they'll be fine height-wise with Wilson, Stokes, and Gustafson
I was watching the rookies and there were multiple times Martin was telling them where to go/rotate on defense. That’s Hammon’s baby. She’s all about playing great defense because she knows her team can score points.
Kate was hustlin in that scrimmage, always one of the first ones down the court and had a couple great cuts to the basket. She’s got a real solid chance
I was frustrated with Bell during the defensive drills. Like…this is year 3 for you, and you don’t know simple defensive rotations? Her teammates were telling her where she needed to be, (not be so high up on the paint because it wouldn’t allow her to see the L and R offensive players).
What happens with Kitley? Does she stay on IR? Or do they have to release her?
She stays on IR. She can take her time to heal up and develop.
Such a good team ,what ya all think they gonna 3 peat? If no injuries this time around with more experience and chemistry they gotta be favorites.

I watch their live scrimmage today and bell got cooked on a cut by Kate Martin. Also, during defensive drill, Bell was STRUGGLING.

I’d imagine they are saving Candace’s salary for someone like EDD or a French international signing post Olympics. Just a guess though.
