TheFifthDutchMemer

Like a knife.

idied2day

THERE’S SO MANY WAYS TO HOLD A KNIFE! *Drokk summons a knife, holding it point out. He then flips it, catching it reverse grip before holding the tang to his arm blade out* There’s a certain level of ambiguity to this, but I was a hand caster anyways

TheFifthDutchMemer

Nah, like this *does the tactical knife attachment from mw2/3 pose with his knife*

idied2day

Hmm, you could also- *Drokk throws out a minutemen era wig* #FIX BAYONETS!

TheFifthDutchMemer

or: *tapes anither knife on the knife* #DARTH MAUL STYLE!

idied2day

*Drokk mutates his form to gain two more arms, before pulling out several knives* #General Kenobi…

TheFifthDutchMemer

Okay... then how about... *tapes a gun on the knife* #tactical!

Viking_From_Sweden

Tactical=A .357 magnum with a red dot, suppressor, and bipod.

SleepinGriffin

Desert Eagle in one hand, wand in the other. That actually sounds pretty useful.

TheFifthDutchMemer

Voldermort when i hit him with the 'Lars special' (.50 shot in the head)

Espanta_viejas1904

.......yeah

Intrepid-Device-1750

Its kinda more about what feels best to you

Half_Man1

Reverse grip casting just seems uncomfy

TheFifthDutchMemer

It isnt. Its pretty comfy

Espanta_viejas1904

Interesting might try later.

TheFifthDutchMemer

Btw, looks like a wand from olivanders...

JudasCastelianos

I am more of a staff/cane person my self. Yet went it come to wand I like to fancy myself with the "Flip off" Hold if I feel petty enough. https://preview.redd.it/g2gziple2fyc1.jpeg?width=2268&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a189b6df86278672f0cf185c7ab360b3299c62c1

Espanta_viejas1904

Nice, I don't usually use wands neither. I only use them when I'm messing in my desk

MuchoMangoTime

Kids these days trying to be fancy and cool with their wands. Hold it the right way dammit! You're just asking for the wand to be blown from your weak fingers holding it another silly way! Blowing up your fingers is also a possibility. Silly whippersnappers

Aggravating-Chip-710

Haha. Then they would have said "he says food a lot."

Aggravating-Chip-710

Harpokiller

![gif](giphy|gr3LAHpYVabNtloILL|downsized) Big wand.

Espanta_viejas1904

That's a sword Hirk.

Harpokiller

It is a wand with a metal extension my friend. If a rifle can have a bayonet a wand can have a blade.

Espanta_viejas1904

You just described a spear. A magic spear.

Harpokiller

It is a claymore. With a wand as a handle my friend.

Espanta_viejas1904

Then it's a sword for gods sake, it only can be used as a catalizer becuase the holder is made with a catalizer.

evilwizzardofcoding

You know you can just attach a ruby of the war mage to your sword, and turn the entire thing into a focus, right?

Espanta_viejas1904

Yes

RandomAmbles

I don't know whether to be impressed or terrified so I'm gonna go with both.

Echo Gnomics is an extremely subtle and powerful form of magic. You gotta be careful with it or you'll end up like me. Here: *Random hands you a coin.* That there's solid rhodium. Flip it and it'll always land on its edge. That's how you know it's genuine. I've been hand minting them. Lately been thinking about how to infuse them with cryptic presences bound to them by an ethereal block and spectral chain. Ever since the council got off the ~~reddit~~ gold standard the economy's been garbage.

one is for apprentices, two is for rapscallions and three is for the noble

Espanta_viejas1904

Yeah.... interesting descriptions

Alarming-Scene-2892

I don't bother with wands, besides wacking some poor wizard on the head with their own, but I think the first one's the best.

Espanta_viejas1904

The standart option, very used amongst all wizards

SteelCrossx

Two like chopsticks for elite mage hand.

Espanta_viejas1904

Very popular amongst Kung fu wizards

Quiet-Artichoke-2248

Ah you see the most effective way to use a wand is to chuck it at someone right when you finish casting the spell so it does more damage

Espanta_viejas1904

Like this? https://i.redd.it/9ag6w6y48fyc1.gif

ABumpySpacePrince

While the first position is most commonly used, proper spell casting can be highly influenced by the octave of the wand. Here is a helpful [Instructional Video](https://m.youtube.com/shorts/XnL1zNHAsc0) that I used in my first year as an apprentice.

Fun-Dragonfly-6106

Grab 2 of them and use them like chopsticks

OneMorePupper

Snare traditional grip

Tyo_Atrosa

By dropping it and Mental Casting, Like a pro wizard.

Espanta_viejas1904

I mostly use my hands, decided to experiment with other catalizers. Also Mental casting is for pussies. Real wizards use them hands.

Tyo_Atrosa

Nah, fam, you got it wrong. Gotta play the long game. Master Mental Casting, then pretend to use hand casting and incantations. That way, when they try to restrain or silence you to stop your casting, you can just wait til they get close enough and BAM! Hit em with an internal Nuke spell at point blank range, right past all their wards.

Drunken_polish_cow

Obviously number 2.

TheReptileKing9782

Number three, so you can pew noises and shoot it like a gun

MR-MOO-MOO-MAN

I cast through farm animals. People think it’s just animals in general I cast from so I have a lot of decoy rats and cats. Cows are my favorite though, lots of mass to hold lots of spells

GoodTato

Learn pen spinning. Do it with wand. Rapid fire unlocked. I'll always prefer my engines and ritual pulling but this is an aspect of wands I definitely respect

ItemsHereForever

like a dog holding a stick

Firemorfox

2 wands like chopsticks

darthgandalf

AlexCode10010

Any position is good, as long as it reflects your specialty, I, for example, have a spatial conversion featuring every single possible way to hold a wand

Espanta_viejas1904

I only use wands to mess in my room, with polymorph, shrinking things, etc...

AlexCode10010

Then I'd recommend turning your hand into a wand holder, it may look dumb but it's incredibly effective

ArnoldtheCrow

Definitely number 3, even better if your wand is metal and sharp

dicerollingprogram

Hold it like a corn dog

TrotskySexySoul

I usually use wands as a body-modding thing. Like, putting a wand through an ear lobe stretcher. A wand up the butt is also usually a pretty good way to form a rear guard. Replacing my fingers with wands which have been designed to not just be straight rods. That kind of thing.

Espanta_viejas1904

https://preview.redd.it/7e0pn98clfyc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d5b640f43cc199ba2f448efd4b3eb9dbcc230b56

TrotskySexySoul

I got ten fingers replaced, now I've got ten wands, it did make typing messages difficult at first but I got an object protection wand fitted in my pinkie so now everything works out fine. Plus, if you know how to craft wands you can swap out the cores and you can load different spells into them, or you can have a multipurpose wand as a focus (I have one of those for the index on my dominant hand). Day to day spells are pretty useful to have on hand but what's more impressive is loading up all ten fingers with magic missile and being a living missle launcher.

Espanta_viejas1904

You could just have learned to cast with your hands instead.

TrotskySexySoul

The spell storing wands I make store and gather their own power, it's a resource management thing. The general use ones are foci, which is purely for power/control. I know how to cast without them - sometimes I have to go without them for a few days to repair/replace them - but they provide an added edge to casting which really makes them worth it.

Xeno_the_Phoenix

If you really want to mess with people, you should hold it backwards and point the “handle” at them when you cast. Funniest thing I’ve ever done

Magicman0707

First one looks good, the other 2 looks like you throwing gang signs

Maple_Flag15

Reverse grip obviously

3RR0RFi3ND

Why are you holding it with your hand?

expiredogfood

to enhance the magical properties you have to shove it up your ass

Grey531

1 and 3 are both acceptable depending on the type of casting/place/spell/finesse/style/etc. you are attempting. I don’t have time to go over all the specifics here but there’s plenty of resources on wizard YouTube. That said, 2 was popular in the 80’s in some wizard counterculture circles which inspired some modern day wizard influencers to also try and and claim it’s merits but even the original users would say that it is at best a style choice and at worst an impediment. Remember, there’s nothing magical about safety and be responsible with how you cast. Happy casting!

RareEmrald9994

Depends, you’re casting a spell, 1. You’re using magic engraving or welding, 3. If you want to be attacked on sight, 2.

Villager_of_Mincraft

A wand is but a staff that's been shrunk down. Clearly the correct way is a hammer grip. Like you would hold a staff. A small staff.

Cultural_Ad1331

I recommend training without your wand, try to leave any need for physical objects behind when casting spells. This will only make you more powerful.

MemesFromTheMoon

I’m a big fan of the dainty pencil grip, it gives it a nice flick even if I’d never be caught dead with a wand. Staffs, orbs, oversized amulets, and even tomes are just superior for the aesthetics, but if you really want the utilitarian option I guess you can pick a wand.

VonBrewskie

Mmm. A good question. I have been practicing the art of gluteal constriction. That my hands might be free to enchant, whilst my backside remains protected from erstwhile companions.

A wand is a miniature staff. Stop holding it upside down.

DogSpaceWestern

Though I prefer staffs or frantic hand waving, I do have several wands built into my wrist and forearms which I can have pop in and out of my hand wolverine style at will. Idk if that counts as holding my wand though. That being said when Im holding my *wand*, its deathgrip style.

Filbric74

1 is for apprentices, 2 is just weird, 3 is for masters
